I now weigh 180 lbs and A1C went from 8.7 to 6.4. I quit metformin and glipizide about 5 months ago. I will get another A1C test in a few weeks and I am hoping to be in the 5.9 range. Thanks a lot to God he used you Doctor, my HbA1C on December 2023 was 7.3 and after I saw your video about Intermittent Fasting, thanks God it went down into 5.2. I highly reccomend you to really stop eating when you are not hungry, and also abolish the old habbit of eating snacks in between meals. The best way is to fast for 16 hours everyday and assign an 8 hours eating window. For example, you skip breakfast and eat your lunch. Then eat dinner maximum at 8pm and then skip again your breakfast the next day and do it repeatedly.
    1) Skip Breakfast
    2) Lunch at 12:00 noon
    3) Dinner at 6:00pm or 8:00pm maximum
Repeat it everyday and you can see the huge amount of your HbA1C reduction.
Doing this is just like you are fasting from 8:00pm until 12:00noon the next day (16 hours of fasting).
Believe me it works, thanks God for this Doctor.

I wish all doctor's were like you who fixes and heals illnesses not look at each person as $$$. My body doesn't accept sweets anymore. Tastes nasty. My glucose prior to eating varies from 80 to 100 depending what time. My glucose after eating is about highest at 138. Then drops to about 110 within 2 hrs then drops below 100. I am so happy. I was never a snacker but liked bubble tea. Now I eat healthier with no rice. I am Asian which was hard to quit on rice. I also eat 1 meal a day and do not over eat. I want to lower my a1c a bit more. Please don't give up everyone. I don't recommend but I did without a doctor bc I dont trust my endocrinologist. I stopped metformin also bc I trust my body. It really does know what it is doing. My lowest was 55 but very shortly went right back up to 90. I did not have any symptoms of hypoglycemia. I have the sensor that continuously reads my glucose which was very helpful.

@Darrell Williams nope I quit all my meds the day I started fasting. I did it extreme bc I know our body will take care of it. I started eating and I only eat once a day. I am eating good fats and barely any carbs. I eat avocado and eggs daily. Not too much meat. seafood yes but I haven't started red or white meat yet. I also was on allergy med every 24hr. I had something called dermatographism... something I don't wish on anyone. I am not taking any allergy pill daily. Haven't do far. I used to itch and burn like a rabid dog... no longer. Fasting is a cure for almost everything. I hope you and everyone give it a chance. Many doctors oppose to it and that is why I did it alone. Not recommended if you are on insulin etc without supervision.🤞

The poor folks are expected to follow the same old eating plans.
Low fat low taste pasta and flour and all things white. The amount of bread scones one person had on the work top was scary.
Even the partners screw up their faces at the tasteless grub.
Then they are expected to exhaust themselves running and exercising while they are hauling massive amounts of body weight. The contestants cry and awful to watch these shows. It's like the biggest loser. No one is ever brought back to show the weight stayed off.

No to Sugar, No to Processed Foods & Yes to Whole Foods along with 15-16 hrs of intermittent fasting daily helped me achieve this. I believe you can eradicate DIABETES or so called HYPERINSULINAEMIA or INSULIN RESISTANCE out of this globe with the knowledge that you're sharing at no cost to your followers.

Great video. People seem to be confused about sugar. I meet people who think fruit is bad because it contains sugar. It’s a whole food though with fiber. 🙂 Whole food plant based is the only food with fiber. Zero fiber in animal products and almost none is processed. Whole food plant based for over 10 years and loving it!

I've been taking neutralized vinegar for insulin sensitivity, but by far the best thing you can do for it is a little extended fasting! Some of the many benefits of doing occasional extended fasting: Blood clotting is reduced and blood clots and arterial plaque are reabsorbed into the body. Blood pressure is quickly and dramatically lowered. Fribrosis/scarring is reversed over time and telomeres are lengthened, which also helps with lung fibrosis.
    Fasting increases nitric oxide.
Fasting stimulates phagocytosis, the ingestion of bacteria, plaques and viruses by the immune system.
After 72 hours or more fasted, your body recycles large numbers of immune bodies and creates new ones, rejuvenating your entire immune system.
Vitamin D plasma levels are increased, and vitamin D in turn increases autophagy!
Fasts from 36-96 h actually INCREASE metabolic rate due to norepinephrine release!
Weight loss from fasting only loses10% lean tissue and 90% fat compared to the typical 25% lean tissue and 75% fat lost when calorically restricting for long periods. The hunger hormone ghrelin lowers with extended fasting and rises from dieting.
Blood sugar and insulin are lowered, allowing white blood cells to move more freely throughout the body and do their job. Ideal blood sugar is around 80. Some viruses activate glycolosis (the release of sugar in the body) and clinically it has been shown that decreasing glucose metabolism in the body weakens the influenza virus.
Thymus is regenerated, which suppresses aging and renews the immune system.
When you move out of MTOR your body shuts down the building blocks of the cell which are used to produce organelles and proteins. This means the mechanisms needed by viruses to replicate are by and large unavailable when you are in a deeply fasted state.
What breaks a fast? Anything with protein or carbohydrates in it will break a fast, though if the amount is tiny you will go back into ketosis very quickly. Most teas and herbs are OK. Most supplements and meds will either break ketosis directly or contain a filler that will. Many medications are dangerous to take while fasting so you may have to talk to your dr. about discontinuing them during a fast.
Fasts of several days will not affect short term female fertility and may increase long term fertility, especially in women with PCOS.
Does fasting lower testosterone? No, it raises it when the fast is broken by increasing lutenizing hormone and helps build muscle by increasing insulin sensitivity!
The hormone Leptin is an immunomodulator that keeps the body from attacking itself and obesity causes leptin resistance. Fasting very quickly reduces leptin resistance and leptin levels and one day of fasting can cut your leptin levels in half and gets your immune system working properly again!
Does the body preferentially prefer glucose as a fuel? No, your body always runs mainly on fat except for brief periods of very intense exercise. Your brain also prefers to burn ketones at a rate of around 2.5 to 1 when they are available in equal quantity to glucose.
Fasting stimulates the AMPK complex and activates autophagy. Autophagy (literally self eating) will cause cells to recycle foreign matter such as viruses and kill cancerous and senescent cells. AMPK does many helpful things in the body including activating the body's antioxidant defenses.
Deep ketosis virtually eliminates chronic inflammation in the body. This can offset the life threatening symptoms of viral pneumonia which effectively kills you through inflammation. This also creates BHB ketones in your body, which also help your immune system and anti-oxidative system, especially in the brain. Ketones also provide an additional energy source during infection, which is critical when trying to fight off a bug. In fact you can have as much as three times the total energy available in your blood when you are in deep ketosis, or even more.
It increases mitochondrial function and repairs mitichondrial DNA, leading to improved ATP production and oxygen efficiency and thereby making cells better able to fight off infection. Increased mitochondrial function also has the added benefit of increasing your metabolism and cancer prevention!
When you fast, this stimulates apoptosis in senescent or genetically damaged cells. This kills these cells off completely. Senescent cells are responsible for the effects of aging and are the root cause of the development of cancer. If it were possible to destroy them all it would completely stop aging and cancer. That is not possible but fasting can help limit these effects by killing off many of the affected cells and limiting the future effects of aging.
Fasting also releases BDNF and NGF in the blood which stimulates new nerve and brain cell growth, helping a great deal with diseases like MS, peripheral neuropathy and Alzheimers.
In fact, the biochemical regulator of BDNF production is beta-hydroxybutyrate, which is the same ketone the body produces to nourish the brain while fasting.
Fasting also increases telomere length, negating some of the effects of aging at a cellular level.
A fasting mimicking diet for 3-5 days in a row also provides many of the same benefits as water fasting. FMD usually has 200-800 calories, under 18 g of protein and under 18 g of carb.
Exogenous ketones can aid with fasting, making it easier in healthy people and allowing some people with specific issues to fast in spite of them without worrying as much about hypoglycemia.
Children, pregnant or nursing women should not fast for periods longer than 16 hours. People with pancreatic tumors or certain forms of hypoglycemia generally cannot fast at all. Type 1 diabetics can also fast but it is more complicated and should be approached with caution as it could lead to ketoacidosis. Those with Addison's disease may also be unable to fast without liberal use of exogenous ketones, depending on severity. If you experience extreme symptoms of some kind, especially dizziness then simply break the fast and seek advice.

Any new or struggling type 2 diabetics need to watch this again, again, again and again!!!!!
In May of ' 21 I was 250 lbs with an A1C of over 12...put on Metformin and Atorvastatin. Right now I'm in the low 170's with A1C sitting at 5.1 and off all meds.
2 whole food meals a day (very low carb, ZERO added sugar), no snacking, 16:8 fasting.
It will change your life, folks.
Let me add...triglycerides when diagnosed was over 180 and blood pressure 145 ish over 100 ish most of time. Last week blood work showed triglycerides at 52 and my BP was 113/72.
All this due to the aforementioned and just walking 20 mins a day and not laying around.

      Didn't really count...never have.
I eat twice a day until I'm full with no snacking in between. I eat nothing between 7 pm and 11 am. I'll drink water, black coffee and unsweetened tea.
Anything in the green vegetable family I will eat. Green beans, asparagus, bell peppers, brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, etc. I add cheese sometimes for flavor and satiety.
If I had to guess...I'd say 20 to 30 grams of carbs a day and sometimes less.
I just stay away from junk and live fine now.

Hi, i am a newly diagnosed type 2 diabetic. I am just curious, when did you stop taking meds? I really want to stick to this kind of lifestyle change - 2 full meals, no snacking and fasting. I really don't want to be on meds.

    • @huntersquires7107
      @huntersquires7107 7 месяцев назад

I think that depends on the severity of your T2D and will also come down to your will power/dedication.
My T2D was a 10 on a scale of 1 to 10 so it took me roughly 13 months and I think I could have been taken off 2 or 3 months earlier. The timing was based on when my blood work was done.
Keep doing what you are doing with NO CHEATING. When you are trying to heal your body you don't deserve a treat contrary to what some people may tell you.
T2D 98% of the time is the person's own fault because all we do is have too many "treats" that causes the disease in the 1st place.
Remember...when you achieve your goal and get off meds and control your T2D with only food and being active, maintain what got you there. Your diabetes at that point is in remission and will come back in a New York minute if you let it.

I like Dr. J. The only thing is, if I eat plant material I gain weight. I tried what I called "The 1800" diet where I only ate things I could have gotten in the year 1800, which is produce and from the butcher. I could not get below 325 lbs and that was with walking miles a day everyday.
Until I went straight carnivore and got to 1 meal a day and doing 3, 5, and 9 day water fasting I was at a plateau that I couldn't get over.
Now I'm at 235, down from 387 and my body seems to be comfortable there even though I'm not. But I'm in a size 36 jeans, 34 depending on the manufacturer, down from a size 50. I'm in a size xl shirt down from a 5X shirt. In a size 13 shoe down from a size 15EEEE.

Just adding a personal data point. I went from a1c 7.8 6 months ago, to 6.6 at 3 months, and 5.6 today, lost 40lbs, on Rybelsus.
I haven't noticed any real side effects from the Rybelsus, and it doesn't feel like it has curbed my apetite.
When I was a 7.8, that was directly after a 3 month period where I was drinking 3-4 sodas per day, plus sweets. Then I switched to sugar free sodas and mostly water. I haven't completely cut out sweets, in this last 3 month span where I went from 6.6 to 5.6, the first two months I actually still got a box of Crumbl cookie every week to try all of the weekly flavors. Then I stopped that a month ago.
I've also recently started walking 2 miles a day, re-started my Factor food delivery plan (about half the meals I choose are keto, but I'm not trying to stick to keto).. mostly to control portions and get more nutrients... so the next a1c test in 3 months should be interesting.

This is all so true! I knew I was type II years ago, slight A1c elevations for years. Covid comes and I skipped annual check ups. Five weeks ago I had A1c of 10.1 and FBS of 327! My doc says take meds, of course I say no! Another provider recommended I watch this doc. In 5 weeks I cut carbs to 30g per day, fasted every day 18 hours if taking 2 meals, and 24 hour fasts weekly, one 48 hr fast. My average daily BS are now under 120. I eat as much as I need, great protein, healthy fats, no processed, tons of vegetables, but not starchy veggies. Lost 12 pounds already. Post prandials are always below 140. FBS still one teens. But I will take that! Saved my life.

MSM will never talk about what really causes heart disease; your metabolic health is what will dictate whether or not you will get heart disease. It's important to pay attention to Triglycerides, A1C and HDL. These are the markers for inflammation in your arteries. I will be transparent, I do eat bread and rice but definitely not in huge portions. I have been able to maintain a healthy weight for my height and my Triglycerides, HDL and A1C are healthy.

I had the Whipple procedure 2 yrs ago (part of this procedure involved removing 30% of my pancreas) and now my A1c just started to go into the pre-diabetic range at 5.8 and was told by a new primary care physician to fast for 16 hours a day for 5 out of 7 days per week. Of course I wasn't familiar with why this would work but did it anyway. Well, after 1 and 1/2 months, had blood work done for my rheumatologist because I have RA and my sed rate (indicates how much inflammation you have in your body) was at 17 (normal range from 0-30). I get checked for sed rate at least 4 times a year and in the last 8 plus yrs, I was in the normal range only twice at a reading in the high 20's (I usually run from 34 up to 65). Boy was I amazed! Then while browsing the RUclips app came across one of Dr Jamnadas lectures on diet and fasting, and now it all makes sense! I am so incentivized now, to gradually change my eating habits to better my health.

Dr Jamnadas, I *love* your videos and I *love* what you are doing for people. I'm trying hard to follow your advice but I'm addicted to chocolate and sweet fruits. I'm looking to see if you have put together any recipes as I'm not sure how far we can go with cooking our 'whole foods'. 🤔 For example, I'd like to make mayonnaise out of olive and coconut oil instead of seed oil and I'd like to make oat pancakes and so would have to coarse grind the oats and I'd like to know if this would be acceptable or not.
The other thing I massively love😍 about you is I have not *ever* seen you try to sell or endorse any 'products'... No dietary supplements, no commercial products, no 'systems' and no books! I have *massive, massive* *respect* for you and because of this I *genuinely* believe your motives are pure and you are out to do good and I trust you. ❣️ Keep doing this work please, Dr J, we really, really need good people like you in this world to combat the snake oil sellers, the venal food industry and the even more venal big pharma who have been profiting from our pain and misery for far too long. Sending lots of love from across the pond and I spread your message whenever I can. xxx

@@chuckleezodiac24 thank you for your suggestions. Lidl have a lot to answer for with their cheap chocolate 😜😉 Yes, I should graduate to plain choc, and I have tried, but I really don't like it (even though it is cheap at Lidl too lol). Fortunately, I haven't been eating other junk foods or sweets or biscuits for a good while though I have fallen off the wagon a bit with choc chip cookies lately. I don't take added sugar in drinks or drink anything other than water or occasionally carbonated water. I've never drunk anything Coke, Pepsi, cola or "diet" ever. I do eat a banana a day and a handful of blueberries in kefir or buttermilk to which I was adding less than a teaspoon of Xylitol per day but I am resisting the Xylitol mist days now. I do have some stevia occasionally or erythritol mixed with stevia.
I fall down badly on stress and sleep deprivation and poor sleep. 😔

@@pmehta4452 thank you for your avocado oil suggestion. I used to make my own mayo with cold pressed organic sunflower oil and did try a fully olive oil version but I found that too bitter and with this new information from Dr J about cutting out seed oils, I am quite enthused to try avocado oil now. 😊
Through Professor Tim Spector and his involvement with the huge Zoe health study, I now realise that foods do metabolise differently for different people and that oats is one food that can be a friend or foe. 🙄 I have been eating Polish produced barley recently as another source of beta glucans and hoping that is good for me. Zoe are now offering an individually tailored nutrition programme which actually measures each person's blood sugar reactions to specific foods now and I really want to join but I hate needles so I'm holding back. 😢

@@sprogella Stress & lack of sleep is a double-whammy. Sounds like your diet is good. I chew Xylitol gum sometimes, supposed to be good for the teeth (Dr. Rhonda Patrick). Don't know if that would help with cravings.
For me, I crave what I eat. Used to eat chips every day. Haven't had any in 6 months. Switched to nuts & seeds for snacking. Now I crave those every evening. I can go months without ice cream, then if I eat some, the next day I want some more. If you can kick the cookies for 10 days, the habit might be gone.
Some people say eat salt when you crave sugar. Others say buy the yuckiest cookies you can find. That'll cure you! lol. Andrew Huberman says water, sunlight, caffeine and exercise early in the morning will help you sleep better. Don't give up! You'll have a breakthrough sooner than later.

Hi there! I know it’s been a while since you posted this but I hope your diabetes has improved. You got this! It’s hard work. I’m creating a fat loss course for type 2 diabetics to help them reverse their diabetes. I’ve done a lot of research on this and there is a lot of important things to help. The root cause of type 2 diabetes is too much fat develops in the pancreas and liver. If you get enough fat out of the insulin producing beta cells in the pancreas it can start to gradually function properly again. The same with the liver. It will be less insulin resistant. So fat loss is the most important thing when it comes to reversing your diabetes. Of course what you eat is hugely important too. Anyway I hope you’re doing good. In my program i work with people for 3 months while giving accountability and support. If you ever want to work with me let me know. If not if you ever have any questions feel free to ask away😊
