@racer034life Yep, broken thumb. Definitely puts a punch in the gut to an already sour situation. I SO hope he gets picked up by a good/reliable and note worthy team. Rossi has been my guy and I was stoked when he got with Arrow McLaren and had that livery for this year.

The dirt roads in West Virginia are smoother than this garbage. Looks a lot like the best roads in Michigan carry on into Ontario.

I drive on the same tarmac and bounce up and down like they do. Toronto should be embarrassed for not smoothing out the road.

Why does Indy's energy drain so quickly? The cars don't even reach 300kph with the energy boost, it seems like it's the same thing as before
It's just a bank of capacitors. They charge and discharge quickly. Two to four corners charge them up. Corner exit at the beginning of a straight discharges them.

The hybrid system is awesome. It's not as powerful as push to pass but you can use it every lap. When they redo the chassis, they can correct the balance and the cars will be better.
Excited to watch the race, but it's a shame they've got so many pride propaganda rainbows all over the place. I just want to watch racing, not have politics rammed down my throat.
Human tolerance is not political. Realize that 5% of humanity identifies with the rainbow. If there weren't so many haters, we wouldn't need the rainbows.

@@scottkramer7431 this isn't drag racing, fella. You don't get a medal for being able to accelerate slightly quicker whilst suffering from extra weight where it matters.
@nicksterl.2133 Actually, it is a drag race, from the exit of one corner to the entry of the next. All things being equal, the fella who can begin accelerating sooner or with any more power, will arrive at the next corner first.
Why do the commentators go on about Rahal, one of the remaining "golden sperm" drivers , mid field at best he should move aside for an up and coming kid , I'm sure we could find someone to winge in his place .

What. I haven't been into Indycar since they killed off Champcar. So what's "push to pass" Then? I thought that was a battery charge, like F1's ERS. Am I wrong? Was it just a change in boost? And wouldn't that deteriorate the life of the turbo/engine? Can someone please explain Push to pass. Google didn't help much lol.
Push to pass is activated by a button on the steering wheel. It provides 100 extra horsepower as long as you press it. It's handled by software. Turbo boost and fuel. Usually 200 seconds are allotted for each driver per road or street race, but not ovals. There's a few other rules about using it like not on the first lap of a race. There's also an electric motor and bank of capacitors (hybrid) which was just introduced three races ago. Braking charges the bank and a button press on the steering wheel discharges to add 60 horsepower. I don't know of any restrictions on use of the hybrid. Two to four hard braking corners will charge the bank fully. On a short track like Toronto, if you are good, you could get two discharges per lap. The only disadvantage to the hybrid is the additional 100 pounds in the rear of the car. It changes the balance from what everyone is used to. Another hybrid advantage is that it allows a driver to start a stalled car.
This would be so much better if that one guy would not talk constantly over the sound of the car. It really distracts from the experience of visually being aboard and hearing the engine go through the gears. I ended up having to mute the volume and just watch, it's not the same.

I cannot emphasize this enough....NOBODY CARES ABOUT DETAILS OF THE HYBRID (except, maybe, battery nerds, if such a demo exists.) We care about RACING. It's almost as if NBC is intentionally dragging the series down with sour grapes by droning on endlessly about it at the expense of, well, an auto race. I mean seriously...oooo boy, look at McLaren's neato charge status lights that look like tech out of an '81 Mitsubishi Starion! Who on earth CARES?
