Thank you Carol, it was an honor to not only drive that car, but to run it at Indy...a dream come true and a life changing experience. We'll be out again with it next season.

STP colors were maybe the best in racing. Richard Petty's and Gordon Johncock's cars were always awesome just to look at.

I like the Wildcat when they were red and Wally Dalenbach was his team mate

So was this a revised Wildcat built for late 1983? The 1983 Wildcat at Indy had a double fin rear wing. What was your top speed? This looks SO COOL! Was a Johncock fan back in the day. Really pulled for him in 1982. Glorious day.

1983 Wildcat Cosworth DFX turbo, built for the '83 season. Ran the first few races of the season, then set as a back up car for Indy going forward. Other's who drove it was Chip Ganassi among others. The car is currently at the Peterson Museum in Los Angles, Calif.

I remember my father taking me to an auto show in 1984 called The World of Wheels, it came to Washington DC every year in January that year the celebrity guest were Ms Playboy of the year Patrick Duffy from Dallas and Heather Locklear from T.J Hooker and Dynasty and my two favorites Cale Yarboroughs 1983 Hardee's Monte carlo SS and Gordy Johncock with his 1982 Wildcat. Meeting Gordy for a young 14 year old kid was a dream come true. Gordy was so damn cool for a guy who was known to be shy he was funny, very interactive. To this day I remember what he wore, camel colored sports coat blue Jean's and black cowboy boots with light blue dress shirt. At age 49 being a firefighter going to high performance driving school, the biggest thrill ever and still is was meeting my all time favorite Indy Car driver Gordon Gordy Johncock.

This car looks more like a March 84c not the wildcat

Landon, This is the WIldcat MK 9- Cosworth DFX
The MK 9 Wildcat was an all-new car built entirely in and around Indy. The chassis of the MK 9 was very stiff and strong, constructed from honeycomb aluminum panels. Most of the bodywork and aerodynamic surfaces were carbon fiber and the workmanship throughout the car was extremely high. The Mk9'
s were also equipped with a Patrick-built transverse five-speed transmission. Despite winning the season opener the new Wildcats proved hard to handle at Indianapolis and it turned out the design just didn't generate enough down-force. A lot of development work went into the cars over the summer and in August the MK 9B was produced. The 9B featured March-Style bodywork and aero dynamics and was much more competitive than the MK9. Of note: the front suspension rockers were also changed, from rockers to push rods.
