    Many people say that Red Bull is just a marketing company; and to be fair, it is. But the emotions we get seeing this are made possible because of RB and all the people in this sport.

    • @mairsilpretner6119
      @mairsilpretner6119 4 месяца назад +12

      For the team owners, it's all about money in the end. But for DC and Max, and I think also for the likes of Horner, it's all about the racing. Horner, despite all his flaws, did a great job in finding a way to run a team that's passionate about racing, in a way that still satisfies the money money side of things as well. Same can be said for Toto really, while Brawn did a lot of the actual team building, Toto has been essential in forging the link between the sports people and the money people, and keeping them both happy.

      Damn, you’re so right. Every damn thing Red Bull does is marketing, but it’s all exciting as hell. And it works. So I thank Red Bull for all the crazy stunt that they’ve sponsored. They’ve kept life interesting. They might be putting out the sponsorship dollars (and getting revenue in return), but they are good at it. I don’t even drink the Red Bill energy drink, but if Red Bull sponsors something there’s a good chance I want to see it. RB understands high energy entertainment more than anyone else.

Noise plays a huge part in making F1 interesting. Sure, the modern cars are faster, despite the FIA and their never ending "quest" to make them slower, but listening to something roughly akin to a vacuum cleaner simply isn't that exciting. I heard this v10 sound for the first time when I was 9 years old. While watching the races in Istanbul Park. I was close enough to feel the vibration of the engine sound in my stomach. I was literally mesmerized, it was much more magnificent than television. I would give up a lot to hear that v10 sound live again.

      The increase in size is due to improvements in safety, ground effect regulations and the size of the hybrid powertrain. If they ditched the ground effect regs and hybrid junk, they could shorten the cars quite a bit although not to the size of the RB1 obviously.

    In 2002 i was in Austria for 3 weeks during summer holidays and had the pleasure of spending that time in a hanger at an airfield while a team were restoring a DC-6. The rumours around the hanger were that Mr Mateschitz was interested in getting into F1, it still gives me goosebumps to think back to that time.
    During those three weeks i also had the pleasure to meet Felix, who was at that time preparing for his channel crossing. I got to see his wing get prepared and as small as it seems i will never forget getting to paint 14 little screws black that were to be used.
    I dropped my step dads newly painted motorbike trying to turn in the carpark and a orange Porsche pulls up next to me and Felix asks "are you ok". I was crazy embarrassed lol...I'll never forget that. Its brilliant to see what Felix and Redbull have achieved since.

    Kudos to Red Bull for having the balls of putting these 2 together. They got extremely lucky with the weather though, because we all know the additional downforce and weight of the new car really helps in these conditions. If it was sunny and really hot, the old car, despite not being F2004, would've simply run circles around the new one on slicks. And that V10 sound. I say we ditch tyre pressure restrictions, ditch hybrids and go back to normally aspirated engines on 100% sustainable fuel and downsize the cars. Hardly anyone buys heavy hybrids now, so why rely on heavy technology when you can run a lighter car on an old engine on carbin neutral fuels? Lighter, nimbler cars allowed oversteer drivers to push them to the limit, plus they captured the imagination.
