I'm cameraman in small production company which makes docs for Discovery and use fp as our B-cam with C200 as A-cam. We use both in RAW. My primary fp usage is when I need to put high quality camera in limited available space (Sigma fp is absolute winner here) or when I need high quality imagery but need to work alone or just with sound guy, so the weight/size of whole camera setup and tripod should be available to travel in one person. And sure for gimbal use. About color science. Yes, Sigma should gave us more info about it. But I need to say, that working with Cinema DNG in Resolve as simple as it can be. I mean color correction and grading. It absolute fun. No problem to match it with our C200s. Personally I prefer image from fp over C200 because it more cinematic and soft. Main goal with fp in my opinion is exposure. You need to make your own tests to understand which works for your style. For example, most dynamic range suited in shadows and NEVER NEVER overexpose you images via light at ISO100. Instead use ETTR and overexposure via ISO. Because fp can handle just 1 stop of overexposure without degradation image quality. For example: if my correct exposure via waveform at 3200 (I use it in most cases) and my scene has a lot of shadows I can freely rise my ISO to 12800 or 25600 and get absolutely clear shot without any noise reduction. Don't be afraid to rise you ISO on that camera when you shot in cDNG. You waveform can blow away when ETTR but that's normal: just put highlight down in Resolve and everything will be fine. :) Usually I shot from ISO 3200 to 12800. Next example: you can get heavy moire if you shot in HD cDNG (I have no problem in 4K). So, you need to do a lot tests in different scenarios to know how this camera works. But that's normal for any pro. What I don't like: Image in h264. While bitrate is really high (400+ Mbit in All-I) and you, in theory, can use it in pro production, the look is so videoish because of oversharpening. And it can't be turned off in any color mode including "color OFF". So I need to use raw footage in interview instead of ALL-I or make blur(!) for whole pic in post. It's frustrating. My wish list. 1) Sigma, please, make electronic high-quality adapter for Nikon F as you did for Canon!!!!!!! 2) More customization (for example allow to change ISO via main dial and remapping color/tone buttons) 3) Option to turn off sharpening in h264 footage Well, my conclusion: Sigma fp is unique camera with very-very-very pleasing cinema look (in raw) for low-budget production. I wish tilting monitor in next generation (hope it will), no problem if camera size slightly increase. Camera has low power consumption but because of small battery size sure it's not perfect (but a lot better than BMPCC 6K). But using external NP-F 970 7700mAh to power camera and 5-inch external monitor simultaneously I can work around 5-6 hours from one battery. p.s. in this video you can view Discovery's episode "How its made" when I first time use my fp. No grading just simple color correction. All outside shots were filmed with fp and all interior - Canon C200. My favourite shot at 4:57 (sigma fp cDNG 4K in DC crop and Nikon 105/f1.4 at 1.4) ruclips.net/video/8st4n3K_AWU/видео.html

@@bWWd0 I'm getting the images that I want from the camera which are cinematic and beautiful. To me the image is way more pleasing than anything else in this price point including any of your BMPCCs
@@bWWd0 Actually, it has the best low light and colour science of any pro-consumer cameras, including Sony a7siii. I bought it so I can film evening and night shots. I will plan to shoot with Fuji XT3 and Sony FS700r (with Shogun Inferno) for day shoot and Sigma FP for evening & night shoot.
@@HeyElvisG it’s great if you want to work with colors in camera. I absolutely still love and use this camera. The autofocus is going to be decent but only on single shot autofocus. I have it with me now on travel and love what I’ve gotten with it. And a lot of the stuff is out of camera
Thank you sigma and Takuma. The fp is most defiantly a professional tool. Those that know, recognise it for what it is. A powerful tool that punches well above its weight.
I absolutely love my FP, and hope Sigma has enough success with it, that they keep the line going. I picked it up because I wanted a platform to use Sigma's L-mount lenses, and came away very impressed with both. The camera itself is a dense, solid, tightly built little unit; and the image that come out of it don't disappoint. Sigma: User tip for your optional viewfinder (awesome piece of kit). I got tired of the lens cap swinging/hanging freely on your optional view finder when I took the eye-cap off, while taking photos; so I glued a very tiny magnet to the inside of the cap, and another magnet inside (top) of the viewfinder itself. Now when I take the cap off, I just click the cap to the top of the viewfinder, where it stays in place and out of the way. Give it a try.
Thanks for that presentation. I am NOT a professional user, but I still opted for the Sigma fp and I am absolutely loving it! It’s just such a fun camera if you are fine with using manual focus for video - which was exactly what I intended anyways. It’s still mind blowing after using and playing around with it for 2 months now. The size, the low light performance, the insane quality footage, it’s versatility... It’s a fantastic piece of hardware. Also Sigma’s crazy good native lenses - although I also recommend buying the Panasonic 24-105 F4.
As Sigma designed the FP to be a cinema camera, why is there no support for anamorphic lenses and desqueeze? This is a feature that is easily added in firmware. 4:3 and 3:2 recording should be added.
Great video explaining a camera that confounds video shooters. I think of it as a FF version of the BMPCC OG due to the challenges it presents with a payoff of exceptional RAW footage. Figuring out your optimum picture profile is 3/4 of the battle.
I don't have this yet, but I'd like to get one this year. I've been using Sigma products for many years, mostly lenses, but in the last few years Sigma has produced some fantastic equipment that I think reflects true Japanese craftsmanship in the modern era. Please continue to innovate.
I love my copy of the fp. Great human factors design even with a cage. I got my start with manual focus 35mm film cameras, so the slower AF tradeoff and manually pulling focus for video/stills is not a big deal. The image quality and dynamic range is so good it is true value for money.

Hello, I am having much trouble with the HDMI monitoring output while recording through the thunderbolt port to a T5 drive. The monitoring HDMI signal is fine for a monitor but my Teradek Bolt TX cannot see or recognize the signal. Therefore I have no signal to my follow focus Monitor. When the fp HDMI output is configured to Recording and set at 8 bit 1080p FHD the Teradek sees the signal NP. Therefore it would appear I would need the same settings when HDMI output is set to monitoring.
Good Day, does Sigma have any intention to introduce in the next FP firmware a full 10 bit 4.2.2 4K 60 FPS recorded internally ? I believe a simple 4k 60 Fps not cropped is easy to introduce and will completely change the way we can see and use the camera . Thank you

I love my fp but the anamorphic compatibility is not great. Directors viewfinder forces you to record in mov and does not use the full height of the sensor. I don't even need a deesqueez, I can get that done with a monitor, I just wish we could get access to the full sensor height. Not even open gate. Just please please please give us different aspect ratios. That would improve the camera by so much

My Nikon Z6 has sensor cleaning via vibration and I need to manually (using air) clean sensor regularly. But with Sigma I did it just ones in 9 month of professional usage filming in industrial environments. @@fellowcitizen I have the S1/SL2 and sold the FP, well actually I just sold the S1 too (SL2 is the only body I have left for L-Mount). The FP isn't just a video focused camera in my opinion. Sigma should focus on Foveon and master it. Competing with a Bayer sensor with the other giants is quite frankly not really clever.
I am waiting for a new Foveon camera with an L mount and reliable autofocus.
Sigma, please focus on a proper still photography camera with excellent features like autofocus.
Sigma, please stop trying to do everything and mastering nothing.
Sigma, become a Foveon master. Easy mission. Easy vision.
