My Sigma fp Rig Configurations

- Sharing some custom set ups I use with my Sigma fp rig.
I currently use the fp as an A or B cam or as a gimbal cam so this is why I rig it
in a way that makes it quick to change for use in different shooting situations.

I wish you have a list of the items you used to rig out your FP because this video was pretty informative ...
It helped me to understand that I'd better not even try to get into videography.
you can start off small. Just really need an sd card, lens and camera strap to start with the fp IMO. Can easily use a camera strap to stabilize shots
Your rig of the sign a fp is the best i've seen in the hole internet. I'm try to replicate it but the custom shim and the smallrig cable clamp are hard to come by. Thanks again for the rig.

Really love your rig! Just got a sigma fp this weekend and i was searching for a compact rig like this.
Is there a way you could share with us the measurements from your DIY plates ? Really like the idea of putting the ssd there so it prevents damaging the cables

Thanks, glad you liked it. Regarding the remote control, sadly I have not used it enough to give you my opinion. I only use the cable part which I connect to a different trigger, a lanparte shown in the video. The remote is similar to another one I bought for my canons way back then and its mostly mechanical inside which you can open and adjust/fix if you have connectivity issues.

Where do you put in the shutter release cable? I didn't know you could to that. I always have to hit the button on the camera
It goes into the 3.5mm headphone jack. The oem shutter release and the ones from JJC have a cable that adds an input for your mic so you can still plug in a mic while using the shutter release/start stop cable.

You can buy short manfrotto plate from Tilta. I have them for my fp's. Also, that BSA2650 support is discontinued. I must say that Smallrig cage is not a good starting point for fp/fpL anymore. Tilta one is way better.
U can costumize they will make it for u for discontinue item via smallrig costumer service. And price 60 usd. I order 4days ago

eWolf could you please elaborate on why you think the Tilta cage is superior over the Smallrig cage? I am researching what I need for my Sigma fp and any feedback is welcome, the clearer the better. Thanks in advance :0
@@pablovanwetten no problem. I have 2 out of 3 Smallrig cages and I was not been able to assemble decent rig out of them. Discountinued accesories and bad versatility is what you can expect from Smallrig cages for fp/fpL. It's almost like they tried to make you buy all of their cages and swap them while transitioning from one tipe of rig to another. With Tilta, I was finally able to create "core rig" that can be fitted in any tipenof use. Run and gun, shoulder rig or gimbal, they can be converted to anything.

Why did you choose an hdmi adapter?
What other option are you thinking of? In my case it was 2 things, this hdmi adapter does not need power and most affordable on camera monitors are hdmi and also I needed it to be able to plug the hdmi to vga adapter to provide a 3.5mm audio jack for headphones in case I won't use a monitor with headphone out.

Amazing! Thoughts on the 4.0 firmware and false colour?
Thanks Colin. I just did several tests on it and I must say it works as advertised! Truly enhanced the usability of the fp in a "professional" sense. Even though the fp lacks a log profile for monitoring the false color is a good workaround. The false color is reading the raw signal and not the signal with the color modes applied. So when you are monitoring and even though you see the image washed out and blown out on your camera or external monitor, if you turn on false color you will be surprised that your image might not yet be clipping. And this is the true information because once you bring in your CDNG file into post you can confirm what the false color has indicated.

Great video! Those side plates have been discontinued by smallrig. Do you have any alternatives to keep the cables secure?
Graeme, before I had the side plates I made a DIY protector which was merely a piece of aluminum bar which I drilled a hole to screw to the side and carefully cut out notches which the hdmi and usb cables firmly went thru. It lessened the pressure from the usb port itself.
What Nikon Lens is that? And how do you like it?
The one shown in the video is the 35mm f2. It's got a vintage look to the image and enough shallow dof for subject separation. and the 35mm has got that versatile FOV. Light for run and gun handheld shoots.

The dummy battery is this one, I cut the wire of the NP-F plate and this battery and soldered them together to make it short. This dummy battery gives a battery power status in the camera lcd.
Other dummy battery will show ac adapter power.

Whats the total cost of the rig?
there is no sound when i use hdmi to VGA+3.5mm adaptor, any idea to solve?
In my experience using different vga adapters, you need to press the 3.5 trs jack hard in. There are was also a certain brand that did not work.
Why not just use the view finder?
The evf has no hdmi pass through. Monitors are essential in film work. Especially handheld.
