One trick I use when shooting CDNG on the old Blackmagic Production Camera 4k is to use a program called Slim Raw to get various compression ratios while saving a ton of space and keeping everything CNDG for a full grade later. Red’s RAW patents prevent any camera company from offering internal compressed raw without a license from Red. However, this doesn’t apply to desktop applications. You can compress RAW any way you like as long as it’s outside the camera and not run afoul of of Red’s patents. Thanks for your review, seems like the FP mights be a great little portable raw machine!
Cdng will always have better resolution resolved. That's why many people chose not to update their Blackmagic cameras. People who use bought fp wanted the best image possible not carrying about storage. I don't use slim raw cause i hate loosing time converting and compressing. I like to edit directly from ssd.

WOW amazing work :))) What is the lens you used with the FP for those first street shots talking about how organic the camera looks? @0:13.... sooo good
all intra & gop are extremely good if you set the tone curve right, less highlights and more shadows, reduce - colors, -contrast & - sharpness, you get a finished video out of the fp, when the light is good, exposure is perfect (no reserves for overexposure, but for shadows at mov, gop) you will hardly notice the difference between raw & mov,)
The thing is you can't disable sharpness not even in color mode off. Cdng even with sharpness set to 0 have more detail than mov that have fake sharpening. I shot 8bit cdng just because sharpening and noise reduction can't be disabled in all intra and gop.
Absolutely wonderful review, THANKS! I loved the quick glimpse of the footage you shot, what lens were you using? Do you have links to any more films you have made specifically with the Fp?
