    Quick question why is it timed

    • @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod
      @PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod  Год назад +2

      Noise nvh

    • @Ian_SS
      @Ian_SS Год назад +12

      During the DCR validation testing for 2011-2019 model years, S&S did not find a benefit to timing the DCR pump to the engine. However, for 2020+ model years there is a small NVH benefit to timing the pump specifically when the ECM commands a certain rail pressure control mode at light engine load. For this reason and to retain product commonality across the model years, S&S recommends to time the DCR on all model years according to the S&S installation instructions. A future change to the DCR pump in Q4 2023 will add a roll pin to the pump shaft at which point the timing process will match the OEM Ford CP4 timing procedure for all model years.

      Oh ok I see so same reason you would clock a cp3 on a Cummins is some sorta noise

    • @JaegerWrenching
      @JaegerWrenching Год назад +3

      The CP4 is originally timed to match the one of the two pumping heads to feed the rail/bank of cylinders that is currently firing. By timing them together it helps increase peak pressure, and keeps fuel flowing into the bank/fuel rail where it is needed most. A natural byproduct of doing this is less noise and vibration. This is because it's pumping fuel through an open door instead of a closed door. I'm assuming it also helps the injectors rate shape stay a little more consistent as well, but I am no fuel systems engineer or expert by any means...

    Great detailed how to video as always! Installed the DCR on my 2018 F250 this weekend in my driveway. Having watched your video along with the detailed instructions from S&S made the job go smooth. About 300 miles on the new install and truck is running great. (FWIW…I opted to leave the clutch fan and bracket assembled and just removed the 5 bolts of the fan bracket to access the vacuum pump)

I build and repair firearms and loctite is always a MUST use item, before I found the gel it was ALWAYS messy pain in the tookus. Just thought I would give you another tool to place in your mental toolbox brother !

    Excellent video I'm doing my research because I'm debating between getting a 67 powerstroke diesel in a 6.2 L gas engine I'm just wondering about the leading in this is a different way of deleting everything right

    Very well done as usual! After watching manufacturers video as well couple questions. What about timing pump and installing gear? 2 Important Steps that seem to be skipped over quickly. Timing Marks not required to line up? Lock-tite Factory Nut? I am Master Technician myself and member of DTS. Thanks for your attention to detail. Making these training videos can't be easy! PS, Who made your Intake Tube System? Looks Awsome!! Mine is ordered! 15 F350 60k.

    Awesome video.
    Do you have to time the pump with the timing marks on 2020.

      They should be pinned in the correct location. If not I believe PTT has the correct location for timing. Timing is mainly for NVH.

    Nice job. I’ll be getting a 6.7 soon. The old 7.3 is now 22 years old and the Salt in New England hasn’t been nice to it. I was shying away from the 6.7 for this issue and leaning to the 7.3 gas, now they have lifter and cam issues. Why Ford, why.

    I know you mentioned it, but I assume this would void the Ford warranty? Or does it not because it's certified? Great work as always

    Is it possible to keep the S&S DPK filter in line? Acknowledge it's not needed but redundancy is good should the pump grenade.

      @@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod How important is timing the 19 model. Noticed they don't have a key way for the DCR at the moment.
