Definitely a great schedule to go by. I believe if any truck is carrying large loads or towing loads daily the transfer case and rear diff should be serviced around 50-60k since it is cheap! Many people don't realize how cheap some fluid services even after doing them twice in 100k vs a major component failure because they didn't want to spend 500 bucks on some fluid services.

Loved every minute of the vid. I would personally do the diffs at 50k and do the transfer case the same time as the trans simply because the transfer case is always spinning and doing work even if you're not if 4wd. And don't forget to be using those additives every fill up.

Great info and video as usual my man. I do my transfer at 30k when I do my trans bc I already have the fluid right by me. I do my diffs like every 30k as well, maybe sooner on the rear if it’s been hauling a lot. I think diff/trans covers are a interesting topic, watched the “mini series” Banks did on RUclips interesting stuff. Most do more harm than good at least on the diff covers.

Thanks! These techs in my experience at Houston, TX dealers seemed to be very uninformed. For example I talked about the CCV box regarding filters and filter less wanting to replace and they had no idea what I was. 🤦♂️🤷♂️😳
I noticed you did not mention VC-8. Is it not recommended for use in 6.7s? Also, where can I get those orange things you use to prevent dirt from entering the intake ports when the lower 'plenum' is removed? I believe you said they come on a new replacement engine. As an aftermarket tech, I don't have access to those. I watch your videos religiously. Your dealer-level info is occupational gold to me.
What do you think about this, keep in mind I’m going for better than what Ford recommends, but also I cannot afford overkill that would result in two things huge cost and then also a lot of downtime. I am at 1,400 miles now. My first oil change will be at 2K. And then like clockwork every 5K after that I also will grease front and rotate tires, I already purchased the new Motorcraft oil filter and I purchased Motorcraft 5W40 full synthetic. I’m going to use Motorcraft fuel filters, both top rail and bottom rail. I will change them every 10k. I have a 48 gallon fuel tank. It’s an F350 crew cab long bed I literally left the dealership stopped in tractor supply picked up hot shot. Secret EDT added 3 ounces to the full fuel tank provided by Ford. I religiously stick to the no less than 1/4 of a tank rule. I never let it run lower than that. I only use chevron mainly because I have a fuel card for it. (Small business owner, contractor)
Thank you thank you everyday for all you do to get us correct and absolutely wonderful Information and advice! Your experience with these engines and trucks is phenomenal, and to that I cannot say enough except as always amazing video! Thank you again! And I'll be standing by for the next one!
I have found, in my vehicle, the differential and tranny fluids were very black/dark by 15,000 miles. So I'm changing mine every 30,000 to 45,000 miles (use dependent). Paranoia perhaps, but . . .
Great video! You need to beat this into the powerstroke owners heads. They pony up 10 k extra for the engine over a great running 6.2L,just to cheap out on filters and oil changes. Not sure why but most local powerstroke owners seem to think that they can go 10000 plus miles between oil changes? Same owners don’t change fuel filters until the truck loses power or eats a cp4. Noticed same with the 7.3/6.0 s they all need injectors due to stiction, which is caused by too long an oil change interval.
Separate topic - I recently watched a video you did with KYD “DCR conversion & Pusher Intake” - great video and I’ve found a place in San Antonio, TX that will do the DCR conversions with S&S Parts. They recommended - the “no limit fab kits” over the Pusher. What are your thoughts???
FYI, I had 4 oz of water in my water separator and the WIF light never came on. So don’t trust the sensor 100% drain you water separator. I’ve changed to every other tank.
Hey man, love the videos thanks for all you do. Can you explain what paperwork/ information we need to keep when doing our own maintenance in order to maintain factory warranty? Ive heard we need to keep receipts, etc? Any info you can share? Thanks!
Thank you for the clarification. Are you still changing the oil every 5k with this additive? Any idea if it would void ford’s warrentee? I ask because it seems that the “normal” engine sound changes around 4K or 5k miles and I was wondering if a oil additive might help with that.
Great video, very informative! I personally like to change my diffs and t case right before and after every winter since that's when I use it the most and when it's exposed to water potentially. I also swapped out my axle u joints with spicers and they don't have grease fittings.
I assume your at bill brown in Livonia, MI.. small world. I am only a few miles from that dealership. I have always wanted a diesel but could never afford one. Now that I can, I worry about the reliability and repair cost due to all of the emissions stuff. If you have a video on this, please let me know. Thanks
Thanks! I appreciate your help and your videos. I got the job done. The secondary radiator petcock was a pain but I got it loose with a small pair of pliers.
Called a Ford dealership 2 weeks ago to get an oil change. @ 3000 miles 150 hours.. Got put off a week & a half. Got another appt for another week & a half away. How are we supposed to take care of our Super duty when the dealership, cant keep an oil change guy.? Am so ready to change professions.
Great video, had to watch it twice so I could write everything down, I think I missed the air filter change interval, and what additives you recommend for the fuel every fill up? Thanks AROD
Cool, thanks man, I’m slowly watching all your videos, I like to do my own maintenance, my 2021 f250 Power Stroke is my first diesel so I need all the guidance I can get, thanks for all you do.
I understand the 5k miles, what im asking is the “self life” of the oil. The truck sits in the garage and will only get ran on average once a month. Should i change it yearly regardless of miles?
Love your videos, super informative. I have a 2022 F-250 King Ranch. This is my first diesel so want it to last. If changing my oil at 5k reg or synthetic, does it make a difference? Also what about the crankcase filter, when to replace it? Keep these awesome videos coming brother. I purchased the Ford ESP package and learned today I only get 2 oil changes per year, wondering if I should get a refund and just pay for service as I go? Thanks
What would be the issue, if any, in changing fuel filters and air filter with every oil change? I purchase oil and all fluids for $210 and just do it all every 6k miles.
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod perfect! Someone told me if I change my fuel filters too soon I'm not giving them enough time to filter out contamination. I know it's horse hockey, but I'd thought I'd ask in case there was something legit I wasn't thinking of.

These techs in my experience at Houston, TX dealers seemed to be very uninformed. For example I talked about the CCV box regarding filters and filter less wanting to replace and they had no idea what I was. 🤦♂️🤷♂️😳
That's why all you Texas boys come and see me up and Detroit
Agree!
Letsss gooooooo. Been waiting for this one for a while
Der ya go!!!
I must if missed this when do you change the diffs and transfer fluids?
Yepp I'd drain and fill them every 40k
Thank you
I noticed you did not mention VC-8.
Thanks pal. I wish i had extras!!!
I do/did a Transmission drain and filter change at 30k, then just a drain and fill @ 60k, but agree with you with all the other recommendations. 👍🇺🇸
🤝🤝🤝
PTT another excellent video
Hey thanks, an oldie tho. Need to reeedo it
What do you think about this, keep in mind I’m going for better than what Ford recommends, but also I cannot afford overkill that would result in two things huge cost and then also a lot of downtime.
Thx broskiii
Very good video, thanks.
Efff NO limit. Pusher all day dude
Thanks for all the information.will the Ford dealer take care of all of that? Under the warranty that we bought.
4 dealers only gonna take care of warranty stuff. Fluid changes and what I was talking about is not covered under warranty
FYI, I had 4 oz of water in my water separator and the WIF light never came on. So don’t trust the sensor 100% drain you water separator. I’ve changed to every other tank.
Every month
Great info 🇺🇸
Good video but which is it for fuel filters every second oil change or every 15,000 miles. Thanks ARod
Hey man, love the videos thanks for all you do. Can you explain what paperwork/ information we need to keep when doing our own maintenance in order to maintain factory warranty? Ive heard we need to keep receipts, etc? Any info you can share? Thanks!
Do you have a video on draining and filling the cooling system? Is it necessary to even the system when refilling it?
Yes i do....check my playlist section
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod maybe I missed it but I watched the video where you drained it but I didn’t hear any tips on refilling it.
Just fill it, no bleeding of air. It'll burp itself...
How often for rear dif?
Front dif running in 4WD 1/4 of the time?
Transfer case?
Rear diff every 30_40k
Thank you!!
ARod, do you have a video for resetting the tpms sensors after doing the rotation? Thanks
No im sorry i dont
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod seems straight forward from the manual but didn’t know if there was some nuance with it!
Ptt can we just get the bottom filter since some of us have the HSM filter kit
U will have 2 find the lower filter where ever u can then, but yes
What oil would you recommend for the Ohio region for the 6.7?
5w40 or 10w30 all day
Thanks for the video. At 9min your holding a bottle of fr3 and commenting to add it to the fuel system. Isn’t that an oil additive?
I mis spoke...yes to the OIL
Thank you for the clarification. Are you still changing the oil every 5k with this additive? Any idea if it would void ford’s warrentee? I ask because it seems that the “normal” engine sound changes around 4K or 5k miles and I was wondering if a oil additive might help with that.
Helped with mine. Won't affect warrant whatsoever
Thanks
Cool, no i dont brothet
If you’re buying a used powerstoke with under 60k miles would you recommend to just do everything right when you buy it and then moving forward
Yes!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod i figured as much thank you for all the tips and tricks!
How many gallons of prediluted antifreeze should I buy for the 2 Radiators drain and fill?
I'd get 6 gallons of pre to do both
Thanks! I appreciate your help and your videos. I got the job done. The secondary radiator petcock was a pain but I got it loose with a small pair of pliers.
What is wrong with the Wix fuel filters? Is there something identifiably wrong with them? Or just preference?
Called a Ford dealership 2 weeks ago to get an oil change. @ 3000 miles 150 hours.. Got put off a week & a half. Got another appt for another week & a half away. How are we supposed to take care of our Super
duty when the dealership, cant keep an oil change guy.? Am so ready to change professions.
Jesus...u can come see me..ill do it while ya wait. Have special pricing for my crew
Great video, had to watch it twice so I could write everything down, I think I missed the air filter change interval, and what additives you recommend for the fuel every fill up? Thanks AROD
Hotshots, use my promo code & save on every tank
Cool, thanks man, I’m slowly watching all your videos, I like to do my own maintenance, my 2021 f250 Power Stroke is my first diesel so I need all the guidance I can get, thanks for all you do.
U bet, better get you one of our kill switches!!
What about when buying a brand new truck. When you should do your first oil change?
5k..every time guy
Good info but I was waiting for you to spray some brake cleaner on the white board when you finished!
😂🤪🤣😂🤪😂🤪😂🤣😂🤪😂🤪😁🤣😂🤪
So let me ask you a question. Whats the longest youd recommend oil changes if truck only gets 2000 miles ish per yr?
5k tops or do it on idle time!
I understand the 5k miles, what im asking is the “self life” of the oil. The truck sits in the garage and will only get ran on average once a month. Should i change it yearly regardless of miles?
Ahhh more info. Yes i wld
Thanks
Powerstroketechtalkwarod@gmail.com
What would be the issue, if any, in changing fuel filters and air filter with every oil change? I purchase oil and all fluids for $210 and just do it all every 6k miles.
No issue
@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod perfect! Someone told me if I change my fuel filters too soon I'm not giving them enough time to filter out contamination. I know it's horse hockey, but I'd thought I'd ask in case there was something legit I wasn't thinking of.
@brandonsmith4551 who ever told u that shld go back playskool
So you change the trans fluid at 60 and never change the diff or tcase fluid? I’d change the diff and transfer case before I touched the trans
Hey PTT just found ur channel and luv it !!
Out of curiosity where r u located ??
I have 2021 f350 tremor and intend on keeping it for the long run I’m 60 so probably my last truck, I do most of my own maintenance and ur videos r helping out a lot
Thx in advance and have great day !!

Gosh not yet, sry pal
Love your videos. Great info!
Thanks bud
This is great information. Did I hear you correctly to say that at 60 K I should replace both the transmission fluid AND transmission filter? Or just the tranny fluid? Thank you. 2019 F-450 Lariat.
We have been doing it every 30k. Spill n' fill
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARodYou have a video on how to dump the trans? I have a 20. Thanks
@thecracken9855 yes I do
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Awesome, hey brother if there is a video up in this case like the coolant system flush vid you have on the 16 super and you don’t have one on the 20+, does that mean it should be the same? And does that apply to all maintenance videos?
@thecracken9855 yepp they're pretty much the same except forr the secondary system lil tighter to get tho
I live on the east coast of Canada temperature ranges from -20 to 80, do regular oil change every 7000km. Would you use synthetic hooked to medium size trailer everyday. 2019 f350DRW 170,000 km.
Yes!!!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod what viscosity.
@markpitcher8429 1030 or 540
Thank you, the only channel for Ford diesel.
I have less than 8000 miles and I have changed the oil 3 time so far. 2017 F350 4x4 DRW
Wow
Hi ARod :) When you say change coolant fluid at 30K and again at 75K, after that do you change it every 45K ? Thanks for your help I'm building myself a maintenance schedule with your recommandations.
Yesir
I noticed you said to add HSS FR3 friction reducer to the diesel fuel? Did I hear you correctly? If yes, how much and how often? Thanks Mark
I meant oil not fuel
