Maintenance maintenance maintenance, is what I hear mechanics say about diesel trucks. Take time for maintenance yet many people seems to forget that part. A diesel truck is not a gas vehicle. With on-time maintenance these vehicles can go long way. Great video. I love powerstrokes, best trucks ever.

Most problems with the 6.7 are due to lack of maintenance. The fuel system is extremely sensitive to contaminants and the engine dumps a ton of soot in the oil. Keep the fluid and filters clean and she will treat well.

I repair a drilling company vehicles. They don't do squat to them till something quits or breaks. I keep trying to tell them maint. For whatever reason, they'd rather buy new vehicles when they hit 100-110k instead of doing maint and having them well past 200k. But they always b***h and complain when one has to have a complete fuel system overhaul. I find sand in the filters often. They often have P20B9 and P228F codes. A lot of their problems come from their "hands." Not their vehicles so treat them like crap. I hate seeing 50k miles trucks that look like they have 300k on them. Half the time I have no idea why they mess with stuff under the hood. The way the trucks are mistreated, often makes it hard to diag them properly. They never get washed and look like they go mudding every day inside and out.

    4. Go ahead and buy a replacement intake tube. Knew it was a know issue and I put it off. It got me this past weekend. Lucky for me I was 10 miles from a ford dealer and they had the part in stock. $135 dollars later, swapped it out in the parking lot and was good to go.

Thanks for the advice. I had a 6.4 (was a good engine for me, got lucky I guess) for a five years before trading it for a 13, 6.7 in your new favorite color...Green Gem. It was a beautiful F350, outstanding color. I have a 17 F350 now, and regrettably that color was no longer available so I went with Blue Jeans.

Sounds like my dads same story, he had a 6.4 and I swear to god it’s the only 6.4 I know of that didn’t delete its pistons at 400k and actually made it to 600k before he got his blue 2013 6.7 after that truck he got a black alumiduty and that truck was deleted and tuned (was my personal favorite of them all), I’ve tried the dodge Cummins trucks as well I even owned a 96 2500 for a year and was honestly one of the slowest trucks I’ve ever owned (my 4.7 1500 ram is hella faster than it) and I replaced that sack of garbage with a 7.3 after the trans blew out of it. The 7.3 made it all the way to my uncles junk yard then died about a 1/4 of the way home but since I got it for free from my dads work I just kind of said “the hell with this” and left it there. I’m now looking for a 05-07 f250 with the 6.0 in it, has to be 4x4, has to be long bed, preferably crew cab, and bulletproofed is fine.

Stupid question about batteries. I just swapped out the factory batteries in my 2019 F250 6.7 with some AGM batteries. I swapped 1 at a time to keep power to the truck. Because I did it this way, does the truck need to relearn anything or is there anything I need to change settings on? First Powerstroke and loving it!

You’ve definitely had many regenerations in that many miles but apparently haven’t noticed. On a ‘17 there’s no light or message or warning. If you’re very in tune with your truck, you’ll notice a slightly different engine tone during a regen, and you’ll see the turbo gauge become more active. You’ll also smell it at low speed or stopped.
FORScan can activate your exhaust filter screen if you need visual confirmation of a regen or how full your DPF is.

Rotella T6 and Motorcraft 2051S every 6500 to 7000 miles. Motorcraft fuel filters every 13000 to 14000. I fill the DEF tank when it gets to about 1/2. Never run below that. Motorcraft air filter as needed. Do not do the convenience store for fuel (unless on a road trip, limited choices and burning it out right away). I buy my diesel at the same place in town almost all of the time. I do wish with my 6.7 F350's had the DPF/Catalyst system on the 650-750. Would love it if the DPF could be separated and the catalyst cleaned like on the Big Boys when needed.

11-16 you have to turn the lower filter housing about 2 turns before draining. There a plunger or something in there that keeps the fuel from pouring out when you drop the housing. 17+ should stop draining after about half a gallon. Totally different housing though.

When it shows the hours and mileage, those are two individual measurements correct? You have 25,000 driving + (X number of idling hours x 30)? Correct? What does idling include, time in park and engine running, time stopped and below a certain RPM even though in Drive? You see where I’m going with this.....
