What's your opinion on a front leveling kit for a 250 4x4? Bagged on the rear, but I'd like a little more up front. Also shock and stabilizer replacing factory? Any suggestions are appreciated. I respect your knowledge. Thanks
I hope ford watches this and sees the value in you. You’re an excellent trainer, you didn’t talk down to a rookie or belittle him and you were very thorough with the job. Thanks for spreading the useful information!
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I kept watching your channel and didn’t know you quit. Corporate ass kissers ruin any family like atmosphere in a business. I see you’re doing well on your own. Good luck
I replaced mine with powerstop, cross drilled and slotted. Carbon ceramic pads. Have em on for 79k miles. Pull 15k 10k miles per year. Zero dust and stop wayyyy better than factory. Love em.
I did the exact same setup to my 2017 powerstroke and absolutely love!!! The break in procedure is funny. I did as well. And also passed by a traffic cop along the way.
I’ve been running Powerstop pads and rotors on my F-350 for 150,000 miles. The rotors are great, and the pads keep getting better. The last carbon fiber ceramics I put on have been great. Following the break-in procedure is absolutely essential to get the maximum performance out of them. When my F-450 needs brakes, it will be getting these too!
Recommend spraying down rotors with brake clean prior to installing, especially the inside contact surface for the rear parking brake shoes. The usually ship with a thin coat of oil. You don't want that on your shoes.
Powerstop pads front and back I used my factory rotors that had 30k miles on them , I’m very happy no dust and they grab hard just make sure you bed the brakes the directions are on the box .
Yes, I have power stop on my 2016 F350 srw. 6.7 all the way round. After I had two front stock calipers fail I went with pads, rotors and calipers from Power Stop. I love them, handle stops with my equipment trailer like a sports car. Good investment.
I have power stop slotted and drilled rotors with the carbon fiber or ceramic pads and I love it, no rusty rotors they don’t rust, very very low break dust, and I don’t deal with warp rotors anymore either , a lot of heavy hauling
Those are the exact brakes I put on my 2012 superduty. I'm convinced they're the best especially for the price. 2 years and about 60k miles and hardly any wear. I don't tow or haul much but the heavy duty pad and rotor set from brake motive off ebay lasted me a year. Switched all 4 to powerstop - they only make one grade drilled and slotted rotor but you can get them in a set with 2 different grades of pads - definitely recommend the extreme pads to go with them.
@@lmCIoudz I'm a contractor - 8' bed, 4 door, tool boxes, ladder racks. Sometimes that bed is filled to the racks with materials with the cab jam packed and a trailer behind me. I said I don't tow or haul much, I didn't say I don't tow or haul anything 😂. I'm never towing cars or heavy machinery, should I just use my Ranger since I don't tow a 5th wheel?lol
My 15’ duty brake dust drove me insane!! Phenomenal brakes that lasted forever, minimal towing, but the dust was insane. Wash my truck and couple days later the runs were dusted over on the front.
I usually go napa lately but I have been all over the place in the past. I will be needing brakes relatively soon so it is good to see how the rear drum setup works. 👍
I like the idea of putting antiseize all around the wheel studs to help keep the rotor from adhering. Powerstop makes nice products. I installed rotors and pads on my 2002 pontiac grand prix gtp I don't know how many years ago and they still look/work good. Already purchased a set of pads for my 22 F250. I know I will eventually need to install them and nothing gets cheaper with time.
I use either Wagner or Powerstop brakes. The last two brake jobs I did, the wheels were "welded" to the hubs. I had to heat the wheel centers to get the wheels off. I always thoroughly clean the hub surface and wheel centers. I apply anti-seize or "Lisa Frank Glitter Paste" as I now call it to both the wheel centers and hub surfaces. Here in Southern New England if the weatherman just hints that there may be the slightest chance of snow, the DOI (Department of Idiots) brines the roads. I like to put a sparing coat of brake grease on the caliper bracket and then install the anti rattle clips. All metal to metal contact surfaces get a sparing coat.
I wish I would have saw this video a couple weeks ago. One of my sliders was seized. I could not get it out and had to buy new calipers. Unfortunately I had to get them from Advanced Auto because I could not wait for the dealer to open. I was doing it on the weekend. All went well after that but I will definitely be upgrading to the powerstop the next time I need brakes. Nice video. Thanks.
I had stock pads and rotors for 80,000 miles on my Hemi Jeep GC, I put the Z26 kit on and they lasted only 30,000 miles! Zero brake dust which was awesome, but the longevity sucked and the pads actually wore the rotor! I’ve never seen a pad wear a rotor! I’ve been doing my own brakes since HS back in 1990, so I’ve done a couple! Still miss when Wagner was warranted for life!!
Thanks man. Glad to see it’s not any different than other disc brake systems thankfully. 13K on mine and starting to notice more dust than the previous 10K. I’ll probably do the Powerstops around 15-20K. I’ve had them on other vehicles and they’re well worth the $$$. Can you show a quick how-to on the parking brake sometime? Thank you sir!
While you had the rear drums off, I would have put anti seize on the hand brake adjuster. If you are in the rustbelt area the wheel adjuster will seize up and that could make it a nightmare trying to pull off your rotor if you have to loosen the adjuster to get it off.
Power stop also make makes good brake shoes also. I had problem with dust on my rear drum brakes on a ford escape now I don’t have any problems since I switched to power stop
Bendix severe duty on my 19 f350 dually. They do have a little dust but I pull a 43 ft toy hauler and stop me when I need .Sold auto parts for every big name companies in business and for me that was the best one I sold.Wagner,Raybestos,Eis you name it I stand behind Bendix must order now days nobody in town carries them
I've always gotten ~70K miles out of the OEM brakes and for that reason I always replace the pads using the OEM Motorcraft pads. Sure, there is brake dust but they work and since I wash my truck regularly, it doesn't bother me.
On my good old dependable 7.3 Powerstroke I use Motorcraft Super Suty Severe Duty brake pads with minimal dust and maximum braking power without eating up the rotors. Not sure if Ford still offers them for the newer trucks.
I got the same for my truck just haven’t put them on. My Aviation background wants me to torque all the bolts. I’m also going to paint my calipers should look good with rapid red truck. Also changing out the fluid. Happy new year

I bought my ‘12 F350 brand new and it just hit 100k and still have the original front and rear brakes. They are just under half pads on the front and about 3/4 on the back. Never had a dusting problem but definitely have the rust problem because I live in Pennsylvania. I’m wondering if they changed the pad material over the years because my friends with newer super duty’s complain about the dust all the time.
Even tho my truck only has 12k on the clock I’ll still probly throw a set of drilled rotors and fresh pads on the front. And probly just put pads on the rear. I’ll save the old gear and put up on the shelf.
Z36 pads is what I went with on my Silverado. I only had 40k on it and the factory pads still had plenty of life but I did a pad slap with the Z36s. The factory pads when they got hot would shudder horrendously. I went down a 10% grade with 1k in the bed and while I didnt find a lot of fade the steering wheel juddered an unbelievable amount. When they cooled, no problem, even after that, but I still ordered the Z36 that evening. No such problem with them and yes the wheels are clean too.
The only thing that I would have done differently actually not differently but also would of been to make sure the spreader for the parking brake was lubed up and hell maybe the adjuster also, but I'm someone that actually uses the parking brake.

Screwdriver trick works sorta as long as there's no lip or decent wear on the pads or rotor, otherwise you'll be there all day dicking around with it. I just grab my big C clamp and put one end between the pistons on the inboard side, and the threaded end on the outboard side pad... give it a few cranks and you'll push in a quarter inch or whatever and the caliper comes right off... If you're changing pads, just screw until the pads bottom out, you don't even have to take the caliper off to shove it. The pop the bolts out, grab the pads, yada yada yada....
OEM on my '17 F-350 DRW. Watching the video this is a job I can do myself (I've done brakes on my Goldwing and RV, but not the truck). FYI the link to your store in the description opened a page that listed archoil ar6500 diesel treatment? I'm interested in the type of pads used to clean up the bracket (the green and brown things).
My 2017 superduty was a nightmare front pistons blew and rear caliper slide pins were seized so full caliper and rotor and pad change all the way around
I drive a truck im okay with dust. I use my truck as a truck. Towing with ceramics suck they dont dissipate heat quickly and will lead to quicker fade or warping. I run bendix fleet metallic on most my rigs. They're the same as the BRSD super duty pads. On my f150 I did a full EBC brake kit with yellow stuff pads. You wanna talk about dusty theyre a heavy metallic pad designed for towing and the occasional track day. No complaints out of my eco boost with some minor mods. Besides rotors i have not liked power stop products. I do find there price is generally pretty good on slotted and Drilled rotors but their pads have not impressed me one bit. Great job, but i would never put grease on the tabs at each end of the pads because grit and dust will stick to the grease and could cause a problem. Thats why those inserts are so shiny slick, they dont need any lube and dust and grit wont stick to them. The brake job was most excellent.
