Where you notched out the shield for the hoses. Go to any auto parts store and buy a set of black thin self sticking door edge guards. You can cut lengths needed to go in those square rough cut outs. This will give it a finished smooth edge to look good and will protect the hoses from chaffing.
Nice looking kit. Wish is were designed a bit differently. Spin around the filter mount 180 degrees in order to shorten the hoses. I'm concerned about my fuel lines being so exposed.
Just put this on my truck. I have the factory 48 gallon tank with the long bed. Filter mounts with the same hardware just longer hoses because the fuel block bracket mounts to the drivers side forward bed mount bolt they put have a hole in the bracket and give you a big flat washer and nut no need to take the nut off the bed mount bolt very solid and the hoses get routed over the frame rail. Also no plastic shield to modify. Down side is the filter is outside the main frame rails. Plus side you don’t need to crawl under to drain or change.
So glad I found this comment. I just ordered this setup two days ago and called HS-M and asked them if I had to take the caged nut off to install this. Good thing I don’t because I’ve got a 91 gallon rds combo sitting right over that bolt and didn’t want to have to remove the tank for that one bolt. 🙏🏼
FYI for anyone installing this kit, HSM said the fittings in the hoses can be twisted or spun for proper hose alignment, the way my fittings were positioned in the hoses from them kept putting a slight kink in one of the hoses. The fittings almost need to be 90 degrees from each other to aid in proper positioning. Mine were pointing the same direction. Hope this helps if you find yours doing the same.
Have you looked at the Black Market Performance front and rear filter replacements? They appear to be a much simpler design and run CAT filters as well. No exposed hoses on the rear setup and you don't have to disconnect the fuel lines on the front filter housing to change the filter.
I saw that one. I liked the way the hoses are out of the way, and how the filter is tucked up against the fuel cell. I'm not really sure if I like how the bracket attaches to the plastic piece. Any thoughts on that?
Nice system, I would like to see a psi gauge post filter to monitor lift pump, other than that it looks perfect, and I bet it pays for it self with cheaper filter cost, and better filtering.
I'd much rather see 180 degree fittings at the plate that reside inside the plastic removable cover. Then hoses would be on top, shorter, and route easier. What are specs on Cat filter as far as micron rating... What is the distinct advantage besides bragging rights at the campground?
For anyone doing this mod I can confirm the Donaldson P553203 which is a superior filter at 3 microns absolute instead of 10-15 like the cat filters and works with the HSM lower. You can also install P569758 bowl so you can see the fuel and if there’s any water that needs drained. The 3 micron rating is better than the upper stock filter at 4 microns. I can also confirm that Baldwin BF46228 fits the HSM upper kit and offers superior filtration compared to the BF7967 at 4 microns absolute vs 4 microns nominal 15 microns absolute. The BF46228 is just a little longer maybe half an inch.
@himni1, I also use this Donaldson filter with the clear sight bowl on my 2012 I made a very similar set up and like you said, straight out of the tank to a 3 micron filter is superior then most.

@@codyphillips48 could make for a bit more noise from the body in that case. The filter head can be mounted with some homemade plates to frame holes that are threaded too. Lots of possibilities for sure thanks to the lower filter adapter plate they developed.
To add to this. The CAT filter doesn’t meet filtration spec. Ford primary filter is 10 micron absolute and can filter 96% of emulsified water. Baldwin is 13 micron absolute and does meet water filtration spec. The Donaldson P550847 does meet both filtration and water emulsion filtration specs. Just thought I’d add to this. I am rather curious if the WIF sensor will correctly operate too. The water will drop out in the water separator/filter. How hard is it to remove the fuel filter housing from the truck, do i have to drop the tank to do so so I can replace the mounting bracket ?
I like the concept of the product but, I hate the location for the new filter. The new location leaves the filter more exposed, compared to the stock location. You mentioned the S&B larger fuel tank during this install video. Will the HSM lower filter kit work with the larger, 60 gallon S&B fuel tank? Also, SPE just came out with a fuel filtering kit for the upper and lower fuel filters. Are you familiar with the SPE kit? Which kit would you recommend now? Thanks.
After watching the last video S&S did on water going through their DCR pump and the fuel system I have a hard time going away from the stock fuel filters. I think rather than modifying your filter system just spend the money on a bullet proof fuel pump and ditch that CP4.
Any chance of debris accumulation around sensor & causing a problem?...but otherwise a great looking piece!!!...you're making my bank account shrink w/all these goodies!!!👍👍😂😂
Those AN lines look like Push-Loc. Those should NEVER be used on a fuel. Too many failures have happened as the barbs are the only retention that the hose has. A crimp on style fitting would be WAY better for this style application.
Nice looking unit but it won't fit on my water separator. Well, it will fit but I can't install the filter bracket. I have fuel tank fore and aft of the ws and my ws is rotated 90 degrees so it is facing the truck frame. So the bracket for the remote filter will not mount. Bummer, huh?
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod okay cool, I was gonna jerry rig something but I’ll just wait that being the case. Looking forward to the install vid on that one!

I looked at my 2019 Alumaduty dully with the 48 gallon tank, where do I mount the filter?
They have one for wlb
I also looked at lower filter Upgrade kits made by Black Market Performance, they take a different approach by removing the entire filter system. Do you have any comments or concerns
I have a 2022 6.7 and I don't want to modify the OE upper and lower filter systems while under warranty. Want to be able to put return to stock in case of warranty claim.
Hsm only.....and i wldnt be worrying about a warranty claim. Read the sticker over your left head lamp
Another great video! You put an upper fuel filter mode as well. I can't find it. Did you delete it? I remember you modified the connections which I thought was the way to go but I need to see the video again.
Its there bubby!!🤙
I have a question for you sir i have a 2017 PSD with an aftermarket 60 gallon S&B fuel tank in my truck was in it whenever i got it, the black plastic triangle piece that holds the housing to the tank broke. How hard is it to remove the fuel filter housing from the truck, do i have to drop the tank to do so so I can replace the mounting bracket ?
Watch my fuel pump video
Very nice system. My only concern is doesn’t that bypass the sensor for water?
No
If you think the water collects at the bottom of the filter so you can drain it, then it sure does bypass the sensor.
I like the concept of the product but, I hate the location for the new filter. The new location leaves the filter more exposed, compared to the stock location. I’m also not a fan of the fuel lines and how they were routed out in the open. I think it would be better if HSM designed the kit to run the lines tucked to the frame rail.
Cant tuck nothing in these all exposed bud
I'm having a 60 gallon S&B tank put on my 2022....where will the aftermarket tank conversion kit mount?
Yes look at hsm site
You mentioned the S&B larger fuel tank during this install video. Will the HSM lower filter kit work with the larger, 60 gallon S&B fuel tank?
Also, SPE just came out with a fuel filtering kit for the upper and lower fuel filters. Are you familiar with the SPE kit? Which kit would you recommend now? Thanks.
Hsm all day. Yes they have an aftermarket tank set up!! Read the BBB for thee other brand......
After watching the last video S&S did on water going through their DCR pump and the fuel system I have a hard time going away from the stock fuel filters. I think rather than modifying your filter system just spend the money on a bullet proof fuel pump and ditch that CP4.
They rusted cuz there was no drain
Why didn't they do U bolts instead?
🤷♂️
Will only work with stock fuel tank, correct?
They have 1 for stock and aftermarket......
Any chance of debris accumulation around sensor & causing a problem?...but otherwise a great looking piece!!!...you're making my bank account shrink w/all these goodies!!!👍👍😂😂
Lolol, same location as the stock one...so
Yes I know, but you had a drain vale close by(sensor) to flush things out this kit puts drain further away & higher it looks like??
..guess ill have to ask the owner
My next project have the s@b 60 gallon tank
Curious about the OEM filter mesh size. I am considering installing an additional spin on 2 micron filter right on the line.
They have two kits for OE tank & Aftermarket tanks
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I'll check it out. But I don't have an aftermarket tank. It is the 48 gallon tank on the long bed.
Short bed, long bed, aftermarket tank is their three choices guy...
Do you know if a kit for a 2016 250 or if this would be very hard to make work on a 16
Brother there's no way that this kit will work for your truck look at your fuel pump and look at this one.... HSM is coming out with 1 for 11-16s
PowerStroke Tech Talk w/ARod okay cool, I was gonna jerry rig something but I’ll just wait that being the case. Looking forward to the install vid on that one!
Where is Arod located? Was wondering cause I need some work on F350.
DETROIT
Cool, but what makes it better than oem?
Up to this point, you weren’t holding your tongue right. 06:03
with a 2017 6.7l Powerstroke, your savings would only start after 360,000 miles. Stock filters will take you 360,000 miles no problem. Is this really worth it on a modern day super duty? And will people keep their trucks for that amount of miles driven? Some people might.. Something to think about...
So I just went to order the kit but noticed when ordering that it has several kits. One mentioned aftermarket fuel tank. I plan on getting the same s and b tank you installed last month. Should I wait until I receive the new tank?
If ur gettin an s&b get the after market tank kit from hsm
Get the kit for the after market tank and it’ll work with the factory tank until you swap tanks.
Watching video! Need oil and fuel filters change, can you hook me up next week?
End of, busy asf
Great video! I want this set up too!
can you recommended anything for the 11-16 SD?
Im workin on that, been gettin asked often now
Not sure if your the one I should ask but living in the Northeast would this set up be prone to gelling in the filter and lines??
Do u add additive
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod Yes I do. Checking because bin Vermont a couple of days was -12 and with the filter kinda just sitting out there was wondering if anti-gel would be enough. I live the idea just a little worried.
How would this be any different If the fuel is still in the same atmosphere it's still not a gel whether you have this or not
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod would think kinda like a bridge. More cold air surrounding the filter in the open as opposed to the filter being exposed mainly from one side. If you think anti-gel would work. I am in. I like the look and the easy. As stated just a little concerned.
I would be using anti gel if you are in the freezing temps regardless if I had this filter or not
the ones who don't see the benefit never broke a drain plug on sunday 🤣
lol I haer ya
By any chance do you know where I can find this ad on? I look on their website and is not even listed on there
Google hsm homie
Question for you?
I have a 2019 f450 the fuel filter is in the middle towards the rear and the connections are at the top of the filter any suggestions?
What
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod sorry not clear enough, the lower fuel filter isn’t on the front of the tank like the video but the middle of the fuel tank towards the driver side rear wheels question where to mount the bracket? Thought you may have an idea since you work on these trucks
Shld have instructions with the kit. I have not done one od those yet
I want one!
Sweet mod!
How do I prime fuel system if my truck doesn’t have a key. It just has a push button.
Push the button homie
How many times do we push the button ?
Did you watch our fuel filter repalcment video
Do they make this for trucks prior to 2017?
Werkin on it
You said drain it once a month dose that mean you don't need to replace the cat filter???
Correct
In what sense is this an upgrade? I am not sure what is the benefit of spending $480 for this.
Better filtration? - Cheaper filter replacement cost? - Long filter change cycle?
🤷♂️
Also curious, the OEM filters are not that difficult to change, certainly not if this kit is near $500!
Would love to see you and @fordbossme interact with each other. Would be epic to see y’all talk about ford’s👍
You not watchin out live streams we do every WED?!?!?
@@PowerStrokeTechTalkwARod I haven’t yet, but now that’s about to change 👍. Watch your videos and it’s nothing but good content and info.👍
🙏🙏🙏
Did they have the underbody sprayed
