Formula 1 Driver Wins Ranking 1950-2019

- In the video, the team name is also listed under the individual name, but only the team that has won has been listed. The machine is also matched to the team's color as much as possible, but I'm sorry if there is a mistake. Please note that the machine is handmade by my own.
It includes the Indy 500 race, but at the time it seemed to have been recognized as an F1 race.
The fight between Alain Prost, Senna and Mansell is hot.
I think Michael Schumacher got stronger because of his rival Damon Hill. Recently, it is likely that Lewis Hamilton will work hard to break the Schumacher record.
The Ferrari team is strong as a team. The rest are Ford and McLaren.

1982/1983 Change Patrick Daniel to Patrick Daniel Tambay. In the next and subsequent videos

Prost is seriously underrated by most fans. I don't think people realise just how good he was.
Yeah, most people view him a good, but not as good as he really was. The fact that he wasn’t an underdog and wasn’t too charismatic didn’t help, especially compared to arch-rival Senna. The 80s and early 90s in general were mad in the amount of talent you had on the grid.
Prost was like Stewart - he never pushed harder than was necessary to win. That way of driving doesn't draw attention like a Mansell or Montoya or similarly spectacular driver.
Same with Piquet and Stewart
Senna is better Prost drove longer he didn’t like Senna because he’s better
All of them from that era were very good.. prost, senna . Mansell.. Berger...
The fact that Juan Manuel Fangio is still in that list 2019 is amazing. They had 6-8 races in a year and he had different manufactures. Awesome. He's the best in the world together with Michael Schumacher and Ayrton Senna

The fact that Senna is still in top 5 after 25 years - and still fairly comfortably ahead of the rest - is testament to his performance... And even more so to Prost, being 10 wins ahead of him.
Much respect to Prost but if him and Senna had started the same year with similiar opportunities Senna would have definitely bested him in wins

@@stefanpaetrow6355 Nice to see fellow Scot Jim Clark 9th considering he's been dead for 52 years.

Senna was pretty old when he died. He was 34.
Don't think he would have won many more races. Maybe he'd have competed with Vettel for 3rd position.
I grew up as a kid with Schumacher, and this really puts into perspective how dominant he was back in the early 2000s. Great memories
He was lucky that Mika retired.
Michel, Lewis, and Sebastian, may be racing to this day, but look how long it took to surpass the legends Jim, Ayrton and Alain
Fangio still in the top 11 after six decades. On top of that he race in an era where the the number of races per year was just 7-10 races. That's just amazing.
And he was almost 40 years old in his beginnings. 24 wins on 52 races, still unbeaten on that.
And Lauda was out from burns for almost 4 years and came back to win more.
@@njaco08 Lauda was out for six weeks after his accident, he finished second in the 1976 championship despite his injuries, he won the 1977 championship and retired after 1978. And when you only had a 2 in 3 chance of surviving the season.
Makes you realise how good Senna and Schumacher were. Especially when you think about having more points and races nowadays in a season.
I remember both Ferrari cars overlapping the entire grid when Schumacher was securing his championships. I am not saying that hes not a great driver, but Ferrari back in the days helped him a lot.
@@FunTimeGhz yeah, if you look at hamiltion now, he was i n mclaren when mclaren had perfect car, then went to mercedes when they start having great car :D and yes, no driver will do anything with worst car from the grid, it's the engineer that wins the race, team in general
@@Ecne3D Mercedes was pure shit when Hamilton came over. FACTS
@@FunTimeGhz
Which is true, but you forgot the impact Schumacher had on the cars development. When he came to Ferrari, they had a rather subpar car. The season before Schumachers arrival, they were 5th/6h. Then 1996 Schumacher got 3rd while Irvine got 10th with just 11 points. 1997 Irvine was just 7th and Schumacher fought for the title. Starting with 1998 it paid of and Ferrari had seriously good cars.
Same with Mercedes. As lackluster as Schumachers results were at Mercedes, people stressed multiple times how behind they were and how much his impact and insight on the cars development and teams improvement helped them. Shame he never got to drive with the results of it since they decided for the talented Hamilton. Of course it was the right decision. Still it's a shame.
@@PresidentScrooge
True
Fangio was remarkable in his time. He is still in the 11th position in the list. Thats just outstanding considering the number of races were much lower in the 50's
and its 3rd in titles with 5 championships!
I would love to see this graph normalized as a % based on the number of races per season. It will really show the consistency and the true top leaders in F1.
The top 10 based on the pecntage of wins are 1) Fangio 47.1% 2)Ascari 40.6% 3) Hamilton 35.8% 4) Clark 34.7 % 5)Schumacher 29.6 % 6) Stewart 27.3 % 7)Prost 25.6 % 8) Senna 25.5 % 9) Moss 23.2% 10) Damon Hill and Vettell 19.1 %. Cars were much less reliable in the old days though. Jim Clark had 26 races where he had no problems with malfunctions/ accidents etc. He won 25 of those and finished 2nd in the other one.
@@andyelliott8027 Thats not what he asked for.

Fangio remains on the list throughout the whole video, what a driver
Even more so considering he only entered 51 races and was in his 40's when he won his titles, 46 when he won his 5th title. His legendary win at Nurburgring in 1957 might be the best drive ever. Was third and then somehow got into a higher gear by slicing several seconds(!) off the Nurburgring lap record lap after lap, as he went ever faster. Passed Collins and Hawthorn on the last lap and won. The aforementioned drivers were the first to congratulate him for what *they* believed was the most incredible drive ever.
@@McLarenMercedes definitely! I love imagining how his skill would completely dominate in a different era, particularly the 80s or 90s
When Senna hit the scene in 88 he jumps to the top in 4 years. He didn't waste time!
sure, if you don't count the 4 years previous he was racing in F1
@@someone_important_ Well no, since it's all relative to when people have enough wins to show up on the list in this vid. Now if you take into account that he set so many new records in only a 10year career, makes it even more impressive. Seeing as everyone who beat his records needed longer to do it.
@@bassmunk what records are you referring to?
Fangio top from 1950 to 1967...
@@someone_important_ Wins, pole positions. If you compare number of races needed to achieve each Senna did it in the least amount of races. Pole positions is the most impressive. Sky Sports did a segment about it... I think...Someone did :P
It's incredible that Jim Clark still ranks at 9 despite his very short career, the very limited amount of races, how unreliable the cars were. He is the true racing God by far
Thats my point. Thank you.
Now I've grown up, Clark is my GOAT. Although you never really know, do you?
as a Human being Jimmy Clark was on a par with Fangio & Moss etc.. By comparison Senna & Schumaker were dismal failures..
@@andyb.1026 That's mean.
Jimmy Clark won 1/3 of His F1 world Championship races. But in those days there were many F1 races that were not part of the WC, in which case his win rate was 50%+,, then there was Indianapolis, the Tasman series, Touring Cars etc. He won in everything, so streets ahead of all others.
Thanks for putting this together mate. Ive been watching since i was 7 and i really enjoyed the reminder of all ive seen (since 1984) It brought back memories of watching those periods of dominance and getting hyped for the records being chased. It was also an education on the drivers that came before my tine. Thanks very much for your hard work sports lab. 😊👍🏻

R.I.P Ayrton Senna.
What people need to know is that back in the fifties, there wasn't 20 races per year so Fangio's record is simply stunning. In the eighties, there were only 12 races per year so Prost's record is just amazing too.
Agree, for me Fangio is the best and I do this kind of videos too, i did one about % of victories in a season is fairer than count only victories, check l and if you like subscribe, it helps me a lot :)
Love to see if there's any sort of comparison with the amount of race wins from the season as a % and then see how the list looks, most recent, they're almost doing twice as many races in a season.
@@duanemassey4560 Fangio has a 50% win ratio.
I’m surprised Jim Clark isn’t talked about anywhere near as much as he should be, the man is a god amongst kings.
He is the best ever
Yeah, I think he raced too long ago to be remembed as much.
He did one thing that I'm sure nobody ever will. In the middle of the season having few weeks off. Maybe got bore doing nothing he thought , why not give a go on The Indy 500 ? Just like that he went and won , think the real great ones are like shooting stars. They come , show the meaning of what great really is and go. Jim and Senna were like Mozart , Hendrix ...from some other place, not our planet.
Indeed, any conversation about the best driver ever, has to include Jim Clark, holds records that will probably never be beaten, as well as doing things that will never be repeated

Amazing, 1st place Lewis Hamilton already doubled the 3rd place Prost. I could never watch Senna, but in my youth almost all the time I was hearing on radio and\or TV news again and again "and the winner is Ayrton Senna" so often that I was thinking no one else could win this race (RIP Senna).
An absolute masterpiece of editing and original concept.
I agree with others here that had the likes of Fangio and Stewart raced in the modern era with more races to compete in their total would have been higher. The greatest tragedy is Jim Clark who died at 32 years old in 1968. He never even reached his peak. He left others in the dust. Still the only man to win Indianapolis 500 and the F1 Championship in the same season. Both Fangio and Senna thought Clark was the best driver of all time. Clark's records are amazing given how few races there were and also how unreliable the cars were back then and also more dangerous too. Nothing should be taken away from Schumacher, Prost, Senna and Hamilton of course for they deserve their accolades. But Jim Clark was the most natural driver and the best of all time.
They would never cope with a modern F1 car because they were unfit slobs back in those days....drinking smoking eating crap etc etc
@@jnbr7520 Lets not let real facts get in the way of fantasy.
@@jnbr7520 True, modern drivers are fit, disciplined sportsmen but most of them are pussys who wouldn't even dare to drive the old dangerous cars on unsafe tracks like in the old days. Back then, racedrivers were daredevils, living their dreams, fully aware of they all could be dead every other day.
Did u watched him race?
Clark had 26 Grands Prix during his career when he ran with no problems from reliablity/accidents etc. He won 25 of them and was second in the other one.
How many races would Clarke, Stewart, Fangio , Moss and the likes have won if they drove 19 or 20 races a season in cars that never broke down .
Edit: what Im saying is Hamilton has finished 61 straight races in the last 3 years, that is 2/3 of Stewarsg career right there.
Same question to Senna and Mansell. These two normally put everything on their races and retired a lot. Despite of that, look how many victories they had... and with Piquet and Prost as contenders, two intellectual drivers that knew how to preserve better their equipment.
150!!! 🤣🤣
Maybe more but it was much easier to have an accident and die...
Maybe 0? We dont have any proof if they could drive this cars.
Edit: 0 is a bit harsh but still you get my point
@@7Criska I’m sorry but F1 cars now are easier to drive than in the old days. They started with manuals, no abs, no traction control, no stability control etc, Yet they were very fast. At some point they were even faster than the F1 cars now, but less efficient in the turns and no drs or kers or so.

To understand it you must remeber that it happened in the 50's when the championship was still in the diappers, I mean there definitely was lack of real competition.
The fairest way to classify a pilot is by % of wins, these king of ranking are not fair because the number of races are increasing by year.
Patricia Miyuki In that scenario, Fangio would be top with 46%, then Ascari, Jim Clark, Hamilton, and Schumacher complete the top 5 in that order (drivers to have raced more than 10 times)
Also not fair Schumacher did lots of races after his prime not in purpose to win
@@NiteLight I think even then with that accounted for he would still be 5th
I don't think % of wins is a great way to measure greatness in formula one. There are way too many variables such as how good is the car he drives, the level of competition, unforeseen circumstances like car failure forced DNF's, etc.
I do believe only the drivers who have raced in formula 1 can truly define the the greatness of a driver and not some stat. Especially if u wanna know who is the greatest driver since the turn of century till today, no better driver to ask than a guy like Kimi raikonnen as he has raced em all for almost 2 decades now.But then again, knowing Kimi, he would pick himself as the best😂

@@fabio1fabio1 The renowned French newspaper L''Equipe organized a vote to elect the sportsman of the 20th century in 1980. On July 12 of that year, journalists from the 20 most important sports publications around the world elected Pelé as the athlete of the century. The King got 178 points, nine ahead of American athlete Jesse Owens. The podium was completed by Belgian cyclist Eddy Merchx, with 99 points.
To this day, Pelé is the best scorer in the history of world football with 1,281 goals in 1,363 matches.
On November 9, 1999, Pelé was also chosen Athlete of the Century by the International Olympic Committee.
In 2011, the King was elected "sports heritage of humanity" in Brazil after an internet vote that aimed to boost the consolidation of the importance of preserving the sporting reality in the world.
Pelé played four world cups and was champion for the first time at just 17 years of age.
Pelé is the only football player to win the world cup three times.
STILL DON'T KNOW WHO IS PELÉ?
Mas o povinhooo...
Súper Material muy valioso Gracias Saludos desde México 🇲🇽🏆
Ayrton Senna
Michael Schumacher
Niki Lauda
who’s here after Hamilton ties with Schumacher
Now it’s 92.
92 now probably about to be 93
Hamilton at 93
93
@First Name Lewis Hamilton WINNNNNNSS the British gp for his 200th win of his career
Senna & Clark both still in the top 10 despite having careers prematurely ended. RIP.
This would be nice to see with a yearly update, it’s very good.
Nelson Piquet. Three world titles, two of them without winning the constructors’ championship. Can’t beat that!
O Patrese teve 12 abandonos em 83, por isso a Brabham não levou o campeonato de construtores.
Interesting, but I don't think that tells a lot. What about having a better teammate. Brabham was good, but not the best car.
@@kg0173that is exactly my point: Brabham was not the best car, and yet Nelson Piquet was able to win two world titles driving a Brabham. That, my freind, says a whole lot! Schumi and Hamilton are great pilots, but they won a bunch of titles with super cars, which makes it all easier. The day Hamilton wins a world title behind the wheel of an Alpine, I will put him in the same level as Piquet.
@@mnsouza69 Agree. 2022 Mercedes was good, but not the best car. Piquet would be champion.

I can hear Al Bundy saying that!

Lewis is getting close behind Schumacher
But
Oh
His tyres are gone
Only because of Schumachers accident. Otherwise...
@@Peter_Cetera Sure
@@Peter_Cetera I'm not sure. Schumacher was pretty poor in his Mercedes come back.
Peter Cetera ..... Oh let’s forget his cheating, deliberately taking out drivers who were going to beat him shall we??🙄🙄
Until December 2013, when Schumacher had the accident, he had 91 wins and Hamilton only 22 :)
Thanks for this great video. Can I ask you what the first music name is?
Super la vidéo. Tu utilises quel logiciel pour le Ranks?
schuhmacher is a legend 7 times worlds champion in a row
Respectfully i recomend u take a look to Fangio. There are several videos of him.
foda-se?

Shumacher was a genius.
Ayrton Senna's death was the most tragic event in my life. The greatest of all times. It was a pleasure and a honor watching that man drive.
What about 9/11?
Mexthemen 9/11 sucked bro, it was terrible watching all that shit, but I am not from the US so it didn’t really impact me all that much. It still sucked tho
@@Mexthemen Ask CIA about that...
@@Mexthemen So we're going to discuss all the tragic events of the humanity?
He said in HIS life, it's about him. Respect it.
@@pedroh.7981 Was terrible , but not as bad compare what Bush did after.
Schumacher is the greatest person the fans of his sport has ever witnessed, fastest racer, excellent strategist, worked on the shitbox ferrari and revived them, what a legend
Schumacher was not a race car builder/engineer. Ferrari was building winning cars long before Shumacher came along. Maybe it was Ferrari who lifted him?
@@charlesm7589 bro ferrari literally brought him in because of his skill of working on the car as well lol, he is known for working on the ferrari day and night to make it a championship winning car, he and ferrari's 1 or 2 mechanics, he earned the fast car he drove and he dominated because he hand tailored the car himself for 4 years
@@ketangsw1666 Nearly ever driver gives input and has suggestions for improving the car. Granted, some are better than others. But Ferrari was great long before and long after Schumacher. I'm not putting Shu down or saying he didn't contribute to Ferrari in a big way. But Ferrari stands on it's own as the most iconic manufacturer in F1 history.
E così mi restano i bei ricordi! Like 48962
Thanks for sharing, cheers Fabrizio
Fangio: Top 1 for 13years, top 3 for 29years, top 5 for 35years, and he has been in top 10 for 59years!!! (1955 - 2014).
Senna and Lewis. These two were my focus on this moving chart.
🤣
Schumacher is the best driver in the history of F1. Not just by number of wins, but the sheer brilliance and genius of his driving. He didn't simply rely on the superiority of the manufacturer.
@@pbaker7160 neither does Lewis, neither did senna? bit of a daft point to make
@@ewan8845 Does Lewis have anything close to a 1996 to 2000 season? Nope. Nowhere near, 1995 season even? When Williams was the better team? Lewis isn't anything special, put vettel or alonso in that mercedes from 2014 and you have 7/8/9+ times world champions...
@@ewan8845 Lol only 22 race wins from 2007 to 2013...with plenty of world championship cars. MS 1992 to 1998 with having a car always behind the williams or mclaren (1996/1997/1992) midfield cars has more wins, less races also. Says it all.
Super video , Avec quel logiciel l'as tu faite ?
Amazing - you can see the rivalries between Fangio, Farina, Ascari who just shattered everything. Then Fangio sets a record that Clark beats and Sewart manages to topple much later. Then Lauda appears but is uncontested. Prost takes the throne but not without first having to battle Piquet. Then Sir Nigel Mansell and a Brazilian phenom shoot through the rankings. You can see the pressure that Prost is under just looking at this chart and then, suddenly, there's no more movement.
Schumacher begins his ascendancy only to have Damon Hill steal his cake. It's truly amazing to watch this. It captures the tension of F1 and the desire of these drivers to write history.
