- I really enjoyed chatting with Etaf Rum about her novel, “A Woman is No Man.” I learned so much from this heart-wrenching story of three generations of Palestinian-American women living in Brooklyn, torn between their individual desires and the culture of their families. (warning, there will be spoilers.)

I love this so much! I am a white, Christ following woman from ALABAMA and I am SO deeply moved by learning more about what other women and other cultures experience!! COMPASSION! To learn and experience through the eyes of other women is so empowering!!

What was your favorite part of the book? ^HF Team
@@hollyfurtick More than a particular part I appreciated getting to know the characters and hearing their hopes and how they processed their reality. I liked the friendship between Isra and Sara, Isra's reflections on what she missed about Palestine and when she gathered her courage to leave was special even though it didn't turn out well. Deya standing up to Farida was a good part too... I can't choose!
Actually, when Farida changed at the end was special. Admitting she was wrong and wanting to reconcile with Sara and be different in the future.

So this is my first Book Club and I just felt it was so hilarious to hear the name of this book because right now I’m reading James Conners book (lol, I bought several to give away) Fear is a Choice!! But I will definitely order & read A woman is no man and I’ll order a few extra to share ❤️🙏
