- I had a wonderful time talking with “Bob” Dugoni who wrote, “The Extraordinary Life of Sam Hell.” This book follows Sam, a boy born with ocular albinism, a genetic rarity that gives him red eyes. I loved hearing about how Bob wrote the book in 5 weeks and then it didn’t go to print for 10 years!! We talked about that and so much more during our time together. (There will be spoilers!)

This is my favorite read so far this year. I really fell in love with the characters and couldn't put the book down. It is also so very cool to get to hear the authors talk about their books and share insight. Thanks so much Holly!
Yes keep these coming! A good book IS just so GOOD! I love your book choices- I don't do a lot of fiction but I should get involved in the book club to do so. There are so many great books to read, podcasts to hear, and RUclips videos/sermons to watch....oh and then there is work/life to balance!...LOL....but seriously I do get sucked into well-written characters and the friendship storylines! As a former teacher, speaking to authors is the BEST! Thank You again Holly (and team for putting this together) and Mr. Dungoni for sharing from your writer's perspective & process in this book. Be Open to the Opportunities!

Holly, thank you so much for choosing this book! It is not a title that I would have picked up to read were it not a book club selection and boy, would I have missed out. This was definitely one of my favorite reads of the past year. I loved this story, the characters, and the inspiration. Having the opportunity to watch this interview with the author has enhanced the reading experience.

It was soooo good. I was able to relate to Sam in many ways. I'd highly recommend it.
I wasn't enthusiastic about reading this book for my book club, but I ended up loving this book. Probably one of my favorite reads this year!
