Hi Rachel , I just wanted to say thank you for this informative video. The order we eat things is fascinating and makes sense. I don’t IF but typically find that two full meals a day with a few snacks is optimal. I’m also a big advocate of walking it’s the unsung hero in physical fitness. Thanks again!
yes, stabilizing insulin throughout the day is one of the most important thing, we can do for our health. Nutrition timing helps and I practise it with IF. But when I eat raw greens, my IBS says: "no, that's not what I wanted" and I have to run to the bathroom. I combine raw veggies like celery, radish, pepper and spinach with steamed/baked ones (broccoli, cauliflower, in winter kale) and then I can digest the meal better. Food babies are real and very painful. I wish, I could eat more freely.
That must be so discouraging, because even if you know what to avoid with IBS there is always that concern that stomach issues will happen at the worst time.
Hi Rachel, wanna encourage you to get the CGM on ASAP. I've been wearing one for 6 days (doing ZOE) and the insight it's giving is extremely interesting. I had been trying to keep my blood sugar down prior to putting it on and it seems I'm doing a great job. My blood sugar falls pretty low especially at night. I don't feel like eating, I just feel tired. I will raise this with my doctor tomorrow and hopefully can get to the bottom of it. Regarding people's different reactions to salads - could be their gut microbiome, that is a whole other rabbit hole in itself. Good luck on your journey :-)
I’ve got it on now and my goodness is it revolutionary! I noticed my blood sugar drops at night and learned that pressing on the monitor when you are sleeping can cause that, too, which is what I believe happened to me.
Flippen biscuits Rachel. I have listend to Glucose Revolution three times since your last post. Ive followed all the rules...fibre then protein n fat, then starches.. and what a difference it has made. I am never hungry. Storm eating is gone and I can look at cake and go nice but meh. 😲 I have zero afternoon dip, and no need of coffee, or feeling the need for a quick afternoon nap. Energy is constant, and productivity up. Thats just a few short days. Just that small 2mm move of eating a salad fIrst, then protein instead of mixing our food is a GAME CHANGER. Thus is how my French family in law eats....and they are all thin without even trying. They tried to tell me for years...but I just didnt listen. What an idiot I am. They eat cheese and drink wine every Sunday. But they always......always start lunch or dinner with a green salad, and never mix plates of food. Simple lean protein then the potatoes. Huh. Who knew?!? Im converted. I have to say, without your post last week... I would have still been on the hungry/workput/starving/overeat hamster wheel believing it wasnt me...it was the perimenopause. Nope! Thankyou so much for this brilliant discovery and sharing it. I am really looking forward to experiencing the natural changes in the coming weeks. X 😍 💪🥬🥦🍳🧀🍞
How INCREDIBLE!!!! I’m beyond elated that this has worked for you. As much as modern technology brings its own challenges, how lucky we are to be able to tap into so much information. Thank goodness for glucose revolution! Im so glad it’s had a similar effect on you as it has me! I know your comment will help many others, too! Thank you!
I think of diabetes and pre-diabetes when I think of blood sugar....I'm #4 on the waitlist for this book and I can't wait to get it. I'm really interested in the CGM-ing you do. Do you have to prick yourself and do a blood draw or just a patch? And what is the cost involved? I can't wait to hear more Rachel! Thanks for the video. (Btw, raw veggies are a "no" per my doc when you have IBS, acid reflux, or any tummy issues - too hard to digest. Cooked only. And there are studies showing that fermented foods have a lot of anti-diabetic properties, which are obviously glucose stabilizing (think kefir, sauerkraut) and also vinegar supposedly helps glycemic control too.)
It’s somewhat of a patch that involves one, and only one, prick which I didn’t even feel! It is expensive the one I got was $400 but it comes with bells and whistles that a standard CGM wouldn’t have, not to mention I avoided a doctors appointment that I would have had to had to get a script for a CGM from my doctor which could have easily led to “why would you want a CGM?” Maybe it wouldn’t have been a hassle at all. But it was enough for me to validate that price point.
Love this content. We have been eating to keep spikes low for about 3 years, but I definitely want to be more knowledgeable and effective. Next stop for me is to read this book then get a continuous monitor.
It is so nice to have a tool that gives you direct feedback on your food decisions. I don’t know how long I’ll commit to a CGM, but it’s been such a great resource. Excited to report back soon!
Thanks for this great video Rachel! I feel like I'm on such a similar journey to you. I actually just put in my CGM this morning. I was TERRIFIED that it would hurt. There's a little needle in there... how could it NOT hurt? Well, it didn't... not at all. It feels scary but I promise, it was painless (and I have a low pain tolerance threshold). I've been scanning my CGM every hour or so since I put it in. Wow, so fascinating!
So FASCINATING!!!! I didn’t believe any of the videos that said it wouldn’t hurt, maybe I should have. Like you said, painless! Is it just me or are you already much more intentional about your food choices know that there is a spike you are avoiding?
I have been reading about blood sugar for years but never actually gotten a monitor. Would love to hear about the cost, time and if you think it is worth it. I try to just listen to my body and have IBS. Cooked veggies only for me but love the info veggies first, protein then carb. I never eat a ‘bakes’ carb always have protein with it. But never thought to separate them. Will try!
walk, walk, walk, walk, walk thats all u have to do nobody should complain about walking we are born to walk just walk it out everybody should walk 30 min 4 times a day u eat 3 to 4 times a day so u should walk 3 to 4 times a day if not 30 then 20 min a day

Yep. Part of the metabolic syndrome list. I have a simple tester I use. I'm on the opposite end of things, and if you're curious, look up the high fat carnivore diet, or the high fat low carb world. With my stomach issues veggies hate me, cooked or raw. Most on this diet don't have problems with high blood sugar because carbs spike insulin levels.

@@RundownwithRachel Yes! It literally is the only diet that lets me maintain my weight and I don't have to workout for an hour a day, but just walking and yoga. For reference, I am 46 5'6" and weigh 127 and it is easy to maintain. I would be curious what you discover if you tried it for 30 days.
