I’m 57 and have not known a life without sugar and chocolate cravings…resulting in weight gain, feeling crap and migraines. It’s only been a week since purchasing your book and following your methods and already an improvement. The last straw for me was when I ate HALF a baked cheesecake after eating a meal of high carbs. I have always criticised myself for not having the will power and could never understand or explain it to others that it feels totally beyond my control pretty much …like an addict. As someone with ADHD, I'm glad we touch on the dopamine topic. I find that a lot of the times I am not craving as much as sugar or so but a texture or a feeling. I find that a healthier compromise is eating foods that are complex in flavors and textures (many Asian countries foods hit that spot for me). If you are sensorial seeking through food, eating more sensorially satistfying meals helps a lot. Just had some korean bibimbap with spicy sauce, and some bachang and they left my mouth singing and it leaves me so pleased and mentally satisfied. And if not there are different kinds of curries from many countries, different thai dishes. If those are not options for you try to cook your meals that balance sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, salty and that have variety of textures that go with another. Try spices, try adding crushed nuts on things for texture, try things until you figure out what makes your mouth happy without having to be putting in a pound of sugar or chips in your mouth.

Ive only been doing a savory breakfast for a couple of days now because of this channel, and I have already seen a drastic shift in my sugar cravings!! I've read that there's a HUGE link between ADHD/autism and sugar/food addiction. This doesn't mean that every person who has a sugar addiction is ND. Nor does it mean every ND person has a sugar addiction. But it is very common for people who are ND, and especially people with ADHD and/or autism to have sugar addictions (or addictions in general). This is because one of the main symptoms of ADHD/ASD is irregular dopamine levels in the brain. Glucose gives us a dopamine boost, so it's very easy for us to become addicted to things like sugar or caffeine or other sources of dopamine. It's also more difficult for us to break these addictions because we are quite literally self-medicating. When engaged in our addictions, the "high" we get might actually feel very calming in addition to giving us energy. As if we have temporarily made out brains "normal". But the issue with sugar is that it does not sustain us for very long, and we crave more and more of it. Furthermore, we reap all of the negative side effects of sugar too. Sugar crashes, weight gain, high blood sugar, and worsened mental symptoms. There's a misconception that cutting sugar will "cure" ADHD or autism. It won't. There is no cure. But, it can definitely help. Replacing sugar with something healthier that provides a similar dopamine boost is a good way to insure you are still able to manage symptoms and get through your day, without all the negative side effects of too much sugar. This can mean asking your doctor about certain medications made specifically for ADHD/ASD. Or, if you don't want to take medicine, there are also some natural remedies. Drinking green tea with a little bit of honey, eating fruit instead of candy, exercising regularly, and trying your best to maintain a good sleep schedule can help. Furthermore, engaging in activities that provide you with dopamine helps. Listen to music you enjoy. Make art. Talk with friends. Spend time in nature. Essentially, do whatever it is that makes you happy. The happier you are, the less you will crave dopamine from unhealthy sources. And trust me, I know that this is not easy. I am writing this as a woman who is 5'2" and 180lbs who has AuDHD and has been struggling for 6 years. I am watching this video because, after getting rejected from a job I really wanted, I've been feeling depressed and have fallen back into a lot of my bad habits, like eating a lot of sugar, sleeping all day, and not exercising. I need to remind myself to stop and get back on a healthy track. And for those who are struggling like this too, I want to try to provide some tips and help you out too if I can. We can get through this together. Remember, it's not your fault that your brain is the way that it is. You were just born like that, and feeling all sad and guilty only makes things worse. Your only job is to learn how to accept it, and work with it. Not fight it. Something that's really been helping me in terms of motivating myself to work out has been learning how to work out in a way that is actually comfortable for me. I'm sure there are people who are talking about it, but personally I don't feel like I've seen nearly enough people speaking out about how insanely overstimulating exercise can actually be for even "high masking" autistics. Being hot, and sweaty, and sore, and cramping, and short of breath, and smelly, and surrounded by other people, and wearing clothes that role up or bunch up or don't support all your bouncy bits when you're running or jumping, and being yelled at by a coach, and being in a room with loud music or bright lights...It's actual sensory hell. For me working out has always been something I absolutely HATED unless it was done under very specific circumstances that ensured I was comfortable. I've found taking long walks in quiet/heavily shaded places (like hiking trails with lots of trees), swimming (because it keeps me from being sweaty and gross), or going to a gym when it is not very busy and has good air conditioning, are all things I genuinely enjoy doing. I've also found I enjoy working out by myself more than I do with other people, because I feel no pressure to push myself beyond my limits or compare myself to anyone else around me. But I also wear a Fitbit to track how many calories I am burning, which motivates me to stick to certain goals and ensure I'm also not going too easy on myself. I'm going to go work out after I finish writing this post. And I wish all of my fellow struggling NDs strength to achieve their goals as well. You can do this. < 3
i got a job where I work in a dairy warehouse. It's great, with the temperature slightly above freezing I can work to my hearts content without getting hot and sweaty. I started taking whey protein isolate for breakfast and it was a game changer. Another thing that really helped me was using compression clothing. My skin being hyper-elastic and stretchy makes bouncing movements very uncomfortable. I probably have a type of EDS. The compression clothes keep everything aligned and feeling right. I have been obese my entire life since being a pre-teen, but at age 50 I have finally entered a healthy weight range, and I feel in the best shape of my life! Sensory overload is important to monitor. I had no idea until my capacity was reduced and I got overloaded much easier. I highly recommend looking into Attentional Restoration Therapy, ART for short. Giving our brains some time to recharge our focus energy often cures what seems like physical tiredness. It makes it easier to make good decisions and provides the mental energy to accomplish the focused tasks we need to do.
You are so spot on!!! I've been eating "dinner for breakfast" for a few years. That said, I have been and still am a selective sugar junkie. I'm fit and not overweight because I workout five days a week (mostly hiking mountains, doing some pushups, dips, some ab work, and I'm 76 year young). I drink ACV every day throughout the day. It's diluted and, granted, it's an acquired taste, but one you can acquire because the outcome is so beneficial. All that you have just shared here will be strong aides for seriously reducing sugar in my life. Thank you. I've subscribed and look forward to more of your brain power.
Jessie - since watching you on Diary of a CEO, I flipped my day around and no longer start my day with anything sweet. It's been one of the best changes I've ever made in my life. I no longer get "hangry" and it lends itself so nicely to intermittent fasting which is also helping with some lifelong health issues. @sitcomchristian6886 I don't think that matters much if she's done the research and knows how to learn. People can be many things. I know a carpenter who is also an amazing potter; would I warn people that he's a carpenter when they look at his pottery? Of course not. People have many passions. I also know too many specialists with their heads in the sand who seemed to have stopped learning many years ago. Bodies should not be treated like the systems don't all interact with each other or that we know everything there is to know about them. It's how we got in this mess in the first place.
You teach biochemistry in the most amazing way. You keep us engaged and empower us with incredible information that gives us the necessary tools to take control of our health. On a side note, please disregard any negative comments, always remember that haters are always going to hate (they’re human beings on the face of the earth walking with a gray cloud over their head and sometimes get struck by lightning and actually get worse….poor things). So getting back to the positive outlook, please know that I’ll be eternally grateful to you. I have been applying your hacks, making your recipes and I watch your videos (while walking on my treadmill). I have nothing but wonderful things to say about your teachings and they work! I no longer crave junk food and I no longer snack as I used to. My mental health and energy levels are outstanding. It’s fascinating reading all the research articles too. But it's not good to eliminate all carbs. Carbs like veg and fruit provide important fiber. I've never eliminated a food group from the way I eat because I'm always active. A lot of people don't mention exercise but actually it's the key to maintaining a steady weight without obsessing over food.
My cravings come at night. No problem whatsoever during the day but night comes and boy I'm marching in and out of the kitchen like a lunatic. So I decided to tell my brain no food after 9pm. No 'healthy snack', no fruit, no just this time, nothing at all. Weirdly enough it's been real easy when before I was battling with my mind so much. I also agree that exercising regularly helps a lot balancing blood sugar and overall metabolism. Gotta stick with it at first but then it becomes a real pleasure. Ofc we need to find exercises we enjoy. And consistency is definitely key. It doesn't matter if weight loss or whatever we're after is slow when we know we're going to keep this awesome lifestyle we picked for ourselves for ever.
Hi Jessie. I saw a few of your videos recently for the 1st time. As I listened, everything that you said made perfect sense. I immediately ordered 2 of your books & started reading as soon as they were delivered. I was so anxious to try out what I had just read. You see, I am at rock bottom. I feel like I have no hope. UNTIL I SAW YOUR VIDEOS!!! I am a 54 year old female who has ballooned up to 374 lbs. My life is miserable. My entire body hurts & I can't walk more than a couple of feet without sounding like a chainsmoker. Because of my size I have become depressed & never want to leave the house. I am miserable & angry. My marriage is suffering. I feel like a loser because I can't control my food or my cravings. I feel ashamed & embarrassed by the way that I look. But today, my family & I went out to a nice restaurant for Easter dinner. I figured, "Might as well try out my new knowledge". I AM ASTONISHED! I ate a salad 1st, followed by 3 oz of filet mignon, then a scoop of mashed potatoes, & last, creme brulee. I ate this at 1:00 & it's all that I've eaten today. I'M NOT HUNGRY!!! 😲💃🤗 No energy slump today! I feel like a new woman. And it's only been 1 day! I will keep you posted after some more time goes by. I start day with raw veggies - you are hungry and you can eat lot of veggies and greens with taste. Raw veggies help to clean my digestive system also. Then I can start eat proteins (sea weeds, yoghurts, chicken and others) ... Im climber and mountain runner.

I’m surprised I didn’t hear you talk about depleted estrogen. Women over a certain age are craving sugar (including alcohol) due to hormone insufficiency. The body needs fat if estrogen is low. HRT is immediately helpful with this and now widely recommended.
It depends on the individual. In 2022, I had a breast cancer lumpectomy followed by radiation. I am now on hormone blocker medication for 5 years because estrogen and progesterone are like Miracle Grow for cancer cells (in my case.) I am now 69 and HRT is detrimental for me. Thank goodness I never took it.
Savoury breakfasts are a game changer for me. I’m not a diabetic but I’ve had breast cancer twice so keeping my insulin levels steady is imperative. Really impressed by the work you’ve done.

Mid-day I had a bowl of grapes on its own and the cravings just spiraled. I found myself going back to the kitchen every couple of hours to get something else, it was crazy! I put myself on a diet consisting of meats, vegetables and fruits. I also eat Greek yogurt and nuts. I don’t worry about calories. Before I put myself on this diet, I was eating chips, candy, cookies, bread, cake, etc. I had no energy and I was depressed. Since I started my diet, I have more energy. I’m not depressed. I’m not bloated. I’ve started walking more. I’ve decided to stay away from certain foods completely. Foods like bread are very addictive. I know that once I eat just one piece of bread, my brain will crave more. So I just stay away completely. I also stay away from canned foods.

I actually do that for breakfast after years of drinking orange juice and having low blood sugar like I was going to pass out and constantly eating more sweet and carbohydrate. I now eat nuts, eggs, chicken- sausage, and a low-carb piece of bread, and I can “ not” eat all day long until dinner.

For many years I’ve been eating leftovers for breakfast so I started making a big pot of stew with lots of veggies and some chicken and turmeric and other good things each week and have a bowl of that each morning. That gets me out of that craving loop. If I can’t have that (if I’m traveling or such) I always notice the difference.
Me too- I made a soup this week with carrots, onions, zucchini and cabbage plus pork and a few lentils. It was a perfect breakfast all week and I didn’t have to think about it.

Thank you, for this information! I'm 57 and since menopause at 47 I have gained so much weight even though I work out 5 times a week, am a vegetarian and get over 10,000 steps a day. I crave chocolate all the time but I do notice eating eggs for breakfast does seem to help. Now I know why.
12:50. This appears to be somewhat faulty or misleading information. I know what you meant to say but this is simply wrong Sorry. 1. Through immune system activities, we take apart foreign bacteria leading to a protein source. 2. Through intentional cell depth , apoptosis, followed by cleanup and , if possible ( assisted by fasting) autophagy, we have another protein source. We cover 80-90% of our protein needs by this. And, yes, the rest we get through food sources mentioned in this video. But the actual demand for fresh, external protein that our bodies need is not actually so great as we always belive or get told. Thank you. Excellent episode and good hacks.
As I began eating fiber 1st , and protein/fats next, and low carb carbs, i I stopped eating sooner, my cravings stopped, and I went longer and longer between meals. And fasting began to happen naturally. My energy level is improving which was very bad. Thank u so much for your help. ❤

1- glucose crashes after a spike and it makes you crave more (addiction rollercoaster) 2- sugar produces dopamine which makes us feel better 3- body doesn’t receive enough protein and sends signals to eat but doesn’t specify to eat protein so we feel hungry and eat carbs
Speaking of vinegar, I marinate mini cucumbers using white 30% vinegar, blackcurrant leaves, dill, salt and very little sugar. I also marinate herring in vinegar and white onions.

I loved her talking about her research and outcomes; this is how I think one should talk about their research. I know this is going to sound insane but being a research student myself I was hoping how fun and informative it would be if someone with enough knowledge on the topic counter-questioned her cause I have not heard anyone else talk about this stuff with this kind of glucose information. Many people talk about how to plan diets, fasting, and exercise and all but this is new and amazing I must say, No doubt she is a Glucose goddess. P.S. Lemon and lime does the same as vinegar and eating grapefruit- personal experience. If lemon peel extract is so good, then we can just juice a whole lemon with skin.

I remember when I detoxed from sugar and how HARD it was. I wasn't even eating processed sugars, but when I cut everything out (fruit, honey, maple syrup...) the withdrawal was brutal. It was really revealing to me. I've eaten sugar since in small amounts, but if I ever eat more than small amounts... my body literally acts like I have a cold or virus (congestion, scratchy throat, foggy brain).
I totally get it. After I detoxed, I can only tolerate a wee bit of sugar (certainly not a good sized piece of cake, for eg) I will feel nauseous and my heart will start racing if I have too much sugar for my body.

I was on a hamster wheel of glucose spikes, and coffee to lift me back up. I have had very little sugar and no coffee for a week now and don’t miss either one. Love the hacks, but £46 for 60 capsules, oof! That's around 75p a capsule. The supplement industry is killing itself with today's crazy prices. If you can sell them at that, good luck to you. Think I'll stick with the teaspoon of vinegar in water, at around 0.7p a shot.
Instead of drinking vinegar, I eat a few dill pickle before my dinner. It takes care of both the veggies and vinegar parts, as I don't eat any other veggies.

IF cured most of my sugar cravings, the the vegetables first hack really helped. Also adding the vinegar hack. Easy and yummy. I crave plain sparkling water with vinegar and lemon now. I save the sweets for dessert. These tips really did help.

I'm on day 5 from eliminating rice, bread, and pasta from my diet. As well as added sugars such as cake, chocolate, and ice cream. I feel better but those first 2 days were really rough for me. I know I have a sugar addiction it genuinely feels like a mental struggle to deny anything with refinded sugars. I still consume fruit which I do my best to be mindful of. My current diet is meat, eggs, milk, and fruit. This video helps to stay on track.
Even as a kid I hated sweet breakfasts. I am all for savoury breakfasts (usually leftovers, which my mom loved so she didn’t have to eat them haha). Eating sweet breakfasts leaves me hungry.
when I was young I was hypoglycemic and my glucose level would go down to 1 ...so I was almost in a coma. I got tested in a private clinic because at the hospital they didn t do the test because it takes too long. I was always tired and had to sleep all the time and at 2 in the afternoon at work I would eat chocolate bars to be able to make it to 5 o clock. So I read the book Le mal du sucre which saved my life. And started eating that way for 5 years and got my health back on track. It was a long journey but I got my life back so it was worth it. Now I m 60 and I now what I have to eat and at what time to function normally. Maybe twice a week I ll eat whatever I want but as a way of life I try and eat healthy ...no processed foods, little sugar, no alcohol, little carbs and small portions.
The solution to our sugar cravings, according to large multinational corporations, is to keep us on an out-of-control glucose train so they can continue to get richer and richer and richer while we get sicker and sicker and blame ourselves for our "weakness" and "laziness". 😡

Here is my beef with Anti-Spike. I was very excited about you mentioning this product and went to go peek at the ingredients. I have been on a lectin-free diet for the past several years and some particular lectins cause me more trouble than others. For example cucumber with seeds or skin, squashes, pumpkins, tomatoes, and bell peppers. So when I saw zucchini and cucumber in your formula I wondered if it was the powder of the whole vegetable or some kind of antioxidant derivative. I would really like to try it but I am worried that I will get a reaction.
I love this and I thank you so much for the practical solutions here. I don’t do well with controlling my emotions as I have tried and failed for many years, so having a practical solution is going to work wonders for me. Only day one and I already feel so much better. Thank you, thank you. My only question would be if eating rice with my meals are okay? I know this is a big tradition for Asian and Caribbean cultures.
I read a medical article that said how stress also creates cravings. I wish you’d talk about that and not just how lack of a good breakfast creates the 4 pm cravings.
I agree that stress can contribute to cravings. Stress can cause the release of hormones that prep the muscles and brain for the "fight or flight" response. But you can skip breakfast and just have the 2 other meals (or one meal if that works), and as long as you have enough animal protein (that is the best because it is nutrient-dense and has the necessary amino acids in the right amounts, especially red meat) and natural animal fats, you should not have cravings. Another benefit is that you won't be on the blood-sugar rollercoaster. And when burning fat for energy, it is a nice and calm, and steady burn. No concerns about, "hitting-the-wall". Breakfast is whenever your first meal of the day is, so when you break you fast from overnight due to sleeping, your first meal, at anytime, is your "breakfast". 😊

Decades ago I had a severe eating disorder. I was a hardcore sugar & junk food addict. I don't believe one ever fully recovers from an addiction like that, regardless of whether the addiction was alcohol, drugs, or sugar & refined carbs. I don't get the urge to binge eat like I used to but the marijuana munchies still can get the better of me on occasion. Anyway one way I've helped beat this vulnerability is to not buy any junk food. No empty calorie snacks; no cookies, chips, candy or sweet stuff. When I get the munchies all I have to munch on are nuts and dried fruits. I'm 73 and am sixty pounds lighter than I was at age nineteen.

Hi Doctor, you will probably not see this message but I sincerely thank you. I’m 57 and have not known a life without sugar and chocolate cravings…resulting in weight gain, feeling crap and migraines. It’s only been a week since purchasing your book and following your methods and already an improvement. The last straw for me was when I ate HALF a baked cheesecake after eating a meal of high carbs. I have always criticised myself for not having the will power and could never understand or explain it to others that it feels totally beyond my control pretty much …like an addict. As someone with ADHD, I'm glad we touch on the dopamine topic. I find that a lot of the times I am not craving as much as sugar or so but a texture or a feeling. I find that a healthier compromise is eating foods that are complex in flavors and textures (many Asian countries foods hit that spot for me). If you are sensorial seeking through food, eating more sensorially satistfying meals helps a lot. Just had some korean bibimbap with spicy sauce, and some bachang and they left my mouth singing and it leaves me so pleased and mentally satisfied. And if not there are different kinds of curries from many countries, different thai dishes. If those are not options for you try to cook your meals that balance sweet, sour, bitter, spicy, salty and that have variety of textures that go with another. Try spices, try adding crushed nuts on things for texture, try things until you figure out what makes your mouth happy without having to be putting in a pound of sugar or chips in your mouth.

Ive only been doing a savory breakfast for a couple of days now because of this channel, and I have already seen a drastic shift in my sugar cravings!! Ive been addicted to sugar for as long as I can remember and doing savory breakfasts and eating more protein has changed the game for me!! Thank you so much doctor!!
I've read that there's a HUGE link between ADHD/autism and sugar/food addiction. This doesn't mean that every person who has a sugar addiction is ND. Nor does it mean every ND person has a sugar addiction. But it is very common for people who are ND, and especially people with ADHD and/or autism to have sugar addictions (or addictions in general).
This is because one of the main symptoms of ADHD/ASD is irregular dopamine levels in the brain. Glucose gives us a dopamine boost, so it's very easy for us to become addicted to things like sugar or caffeine or other sources of dopamine. It's also more difficult for us to break these addictions because we are quite literally self-medicating. When engaged in our addictions, the "high" we get might actually feel very calming in addition to giving us energy. As if we have temporarily made out brains "normal". But the issue with sugar is that it does not sustain us for very long, and we crave more and more of it. Furthermore, we reap all of the negative side effects of sugar too. Sugar crashes, weight gain, high blood sugar, and worsened mental symptoms. There's a misconception that cutting sugar will "cure" ADHD or autism. It won't. There is no cure. But, it can definitely help. Replacing sugar with something healthier that provides a similar dopamine boost is a good way to insure you are still able to manage symptoms and get through your day, without all the negative side effects of too much sugar. This can mean asking your doctor about certain medications made specifically for ADHD/ASD. Or, if you don't want to take medicine, there are also some natural remedies. Drinking green tea with a little bit of honey, eating fruit instead of candy, exercising regularly, and trying your best to maintain a good sleep schedule can help. Furthermore, engaging in activities that provide you with dopamine helps. Listen to music you enjoy. Make art. Talk with friends. Spend time in nature. Essentially, do whatever it is that makes you happy. The happier you are, the less you will crave dopamine from unhealthy sources.
And trust me, I know that this is not easy. I am writing this as a woman who is 5'2" and 180lbs who has AuDHD and has been struggling for 6 years. I am watching this video because, after getting rejected from a job I really wanted, I've been feeling depressed and have fallen back into a lot of my bad habits, like eating a lot of sugar, sleeping all day, and not exercising. I need to remind myself to stop and get back on a healthy track. And for those who are struggling like this too, I want to try to provide some tips and help you out too if I can. We can get through this together. Remember, it's not your fault that your brain is the way that it is. You were just born like that, and feeling all sad and guilty only makes things worse. Your only job is to learn how to accept it, and work with it. Not fight it.
Something that's really been helping me in terms of motivating myself to work out has been learning how to work out in a way that is actually comfortable for me. I'm sure there are people who are talking about it, but personally I don't feel like I've seen nearly enough people speaking out about how insanely overstimulating exercise can actually be for even "high masking" autistics. Being hot, and sweaty, and sore, and cramping, and short of breath, and smelly, and surrounded by other people, and wearing clothes that role up or bunch up or don't support all your bouncy bits when you're running or jumping, and being yelled at by a coach, and being in a room with loud music or bright lights...It's actual sensory hell. For me working out has always been something I absolutely HATED unless it was done under very specific circumstances that ensured I was comfortable. I've found taking long walks in quiet/heavily shaded places (like hiking trails with lots of trees), swimming (because it keeps me from being sweaty and gross), or going to a gym when it is not very busy and has good air conditioning, are all things I genuinely enjoy doing. I've also found I enjoy working out by myself more than I do with other people, because I feel no pressure to push myself beyond my limits or compare myself to anyone else around me. But I also wear a Fitbit to track how many calories I am burning, which motivates me to stick to certain goals and ensure I'm also not going too easy on myself.
I'm going to go work out after I finish writing this post. And I wish all of my fellow struggling NDs strength to achieve their goals as well. You can do this. < 3

i got a job where I work in a dairy warehouse. It's great, with the temperature slightly above freezing I can work to my hearts content without getting hot and sweaty. I started taking whey protein isolate for breakfast and it was a game changer. Another thing that really helped me was using compression clothing. My skin being hyper-elastic and stretchy makes bouncing movements very uncomfortable. I probably have a type of EDS. The compression clothes keep everything aligned and feeling right. I have been obese my entire life since being a pre-teen, but at age 50 I have finally entered a healthy weight range, and I feel in the best shape of my life!
Sensory overload is important to monitor. I had no idea until my capacity was reduced and I got overloaded much easier. I highly recommend looking into Attentional Restoration Therapy, ART for short. Giving our brains some time to recharge our focus energy often cures what seems like physical tiredness. It makes it easier to make good decisions and provides the mental energy to accomplish the focused tasks we need to do.
You are so spot on!!! I've been eating "dinner for breakfast" for a few years. That said, I have been and still am a selective sugar junkie. I'm fit and not overweight because I workout five days a week (mostly hiking mountains, doing some pushups, dips, some ab work, and I'm 76 year young). I drink ACV every day throughout the day. It's diluted and, granted, it's an acquired taste, but one you can acquire because the outcome is so beneficial. All that you have just shared here will be strong aides for seriously reducing sugar in my life. Thank you. I've subscribed and look forward to more of your brain power.
Careful about sipping acv all day and your teeth, it softens your enamel and you may be wearing your teeth down when eating over time

Eliminating carbs from my diet put an end to sugar cravings, and I was the worst sugar addict I know. It’s amazing that I was able to do it.
If people would take your simple advice, they could skip these long-winded videos.
But it's not good to eliminate all carbs. Carbs like veg and fruit provide important fiber. I've never eliminated a food group from the way I eat because I'm always active. A lot of people don't mention exercise but actually it's the key to maintaining a steady weight without obsessing over food.

My cravings come at night. No problem whatsoever during the day but night comes and boy I'm marching in and out of the kitchen like a lunatic. So I decided to tell my brain no food after 9pm. No 'healthy snack', no fruit, no just this time, nothing at all. Weirdly enough it's been real easy when before I was battling with my mind so much. I also agree that exercising regularly helps a lot balancing blood sugar and overall metabolism.
Gotta stick with it at first but then it becomes a real pleasure. Ofc we need to find exercises we enjoy. And consistency is definitely key. It doesn't matter if weight loss or whatever we're after is slow when we know we're going to keep this awesome lifestyle we picked for ourselves for ever.
Your book helped me get from diabetic to not diabetic, when the doctors tried to convince me of my body being incapable of producing insulin.
We need to educate the younger generations so that they don't have to go through the same ignorance that we had.

Hi Jessie. I saw a few of your videos recently for the 1st time. As I listened, everything that you said made perfect sense. I immediately ordered 2 of your books & started reading as soon as they were delivered. I was so anxious to try out what I had just read. You see, I am at rock bottom. I feel like I have no hope. UNTIL I SAW YOUR VIDEOS!!! I am a 54 year old female who has ballooned up to 374 lbs. My life is miserable. My entire body hurts & I can't walk more than a couple of feet without sounding like a chainsmoker. Because of my size I have become depressed & never want to leave the house. I am miserable & angry. I’m surprised I didn’t hear you talk about depleted estrogen. Women over a certain age are craving sugar (including alcohol) due to hormone insufficiency. The body needs fat if estrogen is low. HRT is immediately helpful with this and now widely recommended.
I gave up alcohol because it made me feel worse but sugar is much harder.
All the more reason to go on the carnivore diet.

It depends on the individual. In 2022, I had a breast cancer lumpectomy followed by radiation. I am now on hormone blocker medication for 5 years because estrogen and progesterone are like Miracle Grow for cancer cells (in my case.) I am now 69 and HRT is detrimental for me. Thank goodness I never took it.

I put myself on a diet consisting of meats, vegetables and fruits. I also eat Greek yogurt and nuts. I don’t worry about calories. Before I put myself on this diet, I was eating chips, candy, cookies, bread, cake, etc. I had no energy and I was depressed. Since I started my diet, I have more energy. I’m not depressed. I’m not bloated. I’ve started walking more. I’ve decided to stay away from certain foods completely. Foods like bread are very addictive. I know that once I eat just one piece of bread, my brain will crave more. So I just stay away completely. I also stay away from canned foods.

I actually do that for breakfast after years of drinking orange juice and having low blood sugar like I was going to pass out and constantly eating more sweet and carbohydrate. I now eat nuts, eggs, chicken- sausage, and a low-carb piece of bread, and I can “ not” eat all day long until dinner.

For many years I’ve been eating leftovers for breakfast so I started making a big pot of stew with lots of veggies and some chicken and turmeric and other good things each week and have a bowl of that each morning. That gets me out of that craving loop. If I can’t have that (if I’m traveling or such) I always notice the difference.

1. Through immune system activities, we take apart foreign bacteria leading to a protein source.
2. Through intentional cell depth , apoptosis, followed by cleanup and , if possible ( assisted by fasting) autophagy, we have another protein source.
We cover 80-90% of our protein needs by this.
And, yes, the rest we get through food sources mentioned in this video. But the actual demand for fresh, external protein that our bodies need is not actually so great as we always belive or get told. Thank you.

3- body doesn’t receive enough protein and sends signals to eat but doesn’t specify to eat protein so we feel hungry and eat carbs
Speaking of vinegar, I marinate mini cucumbers using white 30% vinegar, blackcurrant leaves, dill, salt and very little sugar. I also marinate herring in vinegar and white onions.

I loved her talking about her research and outcomes; this is how I think one should talk about their research. I know this is going to sound insane but being a research student myself I was hoping how fun and informative it would be if someone with enough knowledge on the topic counter-questioned her cause I have not heard anyone else talk about this stuff with this kind of glucose information. Many people talk about how to plan diets, fasting, and exercise and all but this is new and amazing I must say, No doubt she is a Glucose goddess.

Chips are a carb so turn into sugar when they are broken down.
Maybe it's a mineral shortage and that's why you crave salts.

Lemon and lime does the same as vinegar and eating grapefruit- personal experience. If lemon peel extract is so good, then we can just juice a whole lemon with skin.

I remember when I detoxed from sugar and how HARD it was. I wasn't even eating processed sugars, but when I cut everything out (fruit, honey, maple syrup...) the withdrawal was brutal. It was really revealing to me. I've eaten sugar since in small amounts, but if I ever eat more than small amounts... my body literally acts like I have a cold or virus (congestion, scratchy throat, foggy brain).
I totally get it. After I detoxed, I can only tolerate a wee bit of sugar (certainly not a good sized piece of cake, for eg) I will feel nauseous and my heart will start racing if I have too much sugar for my body.

I was on a hamster wheel of glucose spikes, and coffee to lift me back up. I have had very little sugar and no coffee for a week now and don’t miss either one. Cannot believe how well your method works!
Love the hacks, but £46 for 60 capsules, oof! That's around 75p a capsule. The supplement industry is killing itself with today's crazy prices. If you can sell them at that, good luck to you. Think I'll stick with the teaspoon of vinegar in water, at around 0.7p a shot.
Cinnamon is also good for this. I make ginger and cinnamon every morning. Its been really helping

Instead of drinking vinegar, I eat a few dill pickle before my dinner. It takes care of both the veggies and vinegar parts, as I don't eat any other veggies.

IF cured most of my sugar cravings, the the vegetables first hack really helped. Also adding the vinegar hack. Easy and yummy. I crave plain sparkling water with vinegar and lemon now. I save the sweets for dessert. These tips really did help.

I'm on day 5 from eliminating rice, bread, and pasta from my diet. As well as added sugars such as cake, chocolate, and ice cream. I feel better but those first 2 days were really rough for me. I know I have a sugar addiction it genuinely feels like a mental struggle to deny anything with refinded sugars. I still consume fruit which I do my best to be mindful of. My current diet is meat, eggs, milk, and fruit. This video helps to stay on track.
Even as a kid I hated sweet breakfasts. I am all for savoury breakfasts (usually leftovers, which my mom loved so she didn’t have to eat them haha). Eating sweet breakfasts leaves me hungry.
You are great and most articulate. What about only eating meat, eating until satisfied, then not eating again until hungry?

when I was young I was hypoglycemic and my glucose level would go down to 1 ...so I was almost in a coma. I got tested in a private clinic because at the hospital they didn t do the test because it takes too long. I was always tired and had to sleep all the time and at 2 in the afternoon at work I would eat chocolate bars to be able to make it to 5 o clock. So I read the book Le mal du sucre which saved my life. And started eating that way for 5 years and got my health back on track. It was a long journey but I got my life back so it was worth it. Now I m 60 and I now what I have to eat and at what time to function normally. Maybe twice a week I ll eat whatever I want but as a way of life I try and eat healthy ...no processed foods, little sugar, no alcohol, little carbs and small portions.
The solution to our sugar cravings, according to large multinational corporations, is to keep us on an out-of-control glucose train so they can continue to get richer and richer and richer while we get sicker and sicker and blame ourselves for our "weakness" and "laziness". 😡

Here is my beef with Anti-Spike. I was very excited about you mentioning this product and went to go peek at the ingredients. I have been on a lectin-free diet for the past several years and some particular lectins cause me more trouble than others. For example cucumber with seeds or skin, squashes, pumpkins, tomatoes, and bell peppers. So when I saw zucchini and cucumber in your formula I wondered if it was the powder of the whole vegetable or some kind of antioxidant derivative. I would really like to try it but I am worried that I will get a reaction.

I read a medical article that said how stress also creates cravings. I wish you’d talk about that and not just how lack of a good breakfast creates the 4 pm cravings.

I agree that stress can contribute to cravings.
Stress can cause the release of hormones that prep the muscles and brain for the "fight or flight" response.
But you can skip breakfast and just have the 2 other meals (or one meal if that works), and as long as you have enough animal protein (that is the best because it is nutrient-dense and has the necessary amino acids in the right amounts, especially red meat) and natural animal fats, you should not have cravings.
Another benefit is that you won't be on the blood-sugar rollercoaster.
And when burning fat for energy, it is a nice and calm, and steady burn.
No concerns about, "hitting-the-wall".
Breakfast is whenever your first meal of the day is, so when you break you fast from overnight due to sleeping, your first meal, at anytime, is your "breakfast". 😊

This is pure gold.
Decades ago I had a severe eating disorder. I was a hardcore sugar & junk food addict. I don't believe one ever fully recovers from an addiction like that, regardless of whether the addiction was alcohol, drugs, or sugar & refined carbs. I don't get the urge to binge eat like I used to but the marijuana munchies still can get the better of me on occasion.
Anyway one way I've helped beat this vulnerability is to not buy any junk food. No empty calorie snacks; no cookies, chips, candy or sweet stuff. When I get the munchies all I have to munch on are nuts and dried fruits. I'm 73 and am sixty pounds lighter than I was at age nineteen.
