Land Rover Discovery Sport, What to Know Before Buying - HSE Black, 2 Month Owner Drivers Review

  • This is my comprehensive review after owning and driving a Land Rover Discovery Sport for 2 months, of what to expect if your considering buying one as it does take a few weeks of real world driving before one is fully aware of the cars good and bad points, such as the pretty feeble plastic trim that tends to surround Discovery Sports, the rattling sound that many owners tend to experience again apparently from poor quality trim.
    Best Disco Sport Accessories: amzn.to/2HLM7AH
    So whilst the Discovery Sport looks great on the driveway and generally also drives well, in many other respects my 11 year old Zafira was better i.e. the back two seats are seriously lacking in leg room, definitely not enough space for adults! And what's worse is that real world fuel economy performance will come nowhere near Land Rovers sales pitch of the DISCO doing 53.3 MPG. Then we have the fantasy of the first oil service change at 21,000 miles, when in reality the car will be requesting an oil change much sooner! So watch my 2 month drivers and owners review for what you need to beware of before you buy one. Where this HSE Black was bought from Hunters in Chester.

    Your knocking sound might well be the seat beat clasp knocking on the c-pillar trim. You can see in the video that it sits right on the plastic trim.

      Hi, I wish it was just the seat belt which was very first thing I checked and tested it in various positions in attempts at getting rid of the noise, yes pulling the clapse down so its in between the seat belt fabric reduces stops its impact, but I don't think the noise is from one thing, its multiple of reasons some of which are more serious than others. Maybe I will do another video trying to determine the origin and better eliminate things like the seat belts. It's only from that one area of the car.

    Why do people expect the MPG the manufacturer states? That MPG is what THEY achieved during testing. They dont know HOW you drive or the terrain you drive in, the weight you carry or anything else. READ what it says, its a GUIDE - NOT a guarantee!

    • @Quantum_AI_Tech
      @Quantum_AI_Tech  3 года назад

      gbwildlife uk Though we don't expect MPG to be near HALF! For instance 1.9 Zafira was about 44 actual, manufacturer 56MPG. Disco sports actual is near HALF! Sooo there is an issue with Disco Sports, if it was say 44 then there would be no issue, something prospective buyers need to beaware of.

    After a year mine was Servised numerous time, i have 180k 2.0 only engine problem was melted turbo cable adapter(small part... 28days in authorised service because they couldnt find the problem) Left front and back lights fogged up, navigation stopped working, top Meridian system is resonating on highs. Highway mpg = 35ish country roads 55 when eco friendly. Best issue i had :D authorised personnel in land rover poured washer fluid into adblue tank :D. All isues were solved during warranty

    I have a Discovery sport 2.0 td 180 HSE like yours. My Car gets that kind of mileage on short journeys .. Done a 90 mile journey recently and managed to achieve 34 mpg in sport mode (mainly motorway) so probably would have got about 38-40 in eco mode. Have you tried asking Landrover to investigate the rattle cos it sounds like the tailgate..

      I'm doing a long-term test of driving the car in ECO Mode, about 50% city, 50% motor way, and its coming in under 30MPG, Its nowhere near Landrovers sales pitch of 53.3mpg, my old Zafira did abotu 38MPG. Its a big fat con.

    Would you recommend? I currently drive a small hatch, wanted a decent 7 seater 4x4

      NO car is going to be perfect, take a look, research it, if you like it buy one, if not buy something else, at the end ofthe day it comes down to a personal decision. I like it. mostly no regrets.

    I test drove a 2019 recently and about 2 miles after pulling out of the lot, the check engine light came on. I did not purchase. I did end up purchasing a 2019 Volvo xc60 Inscription with WAY more tech and comfort features than the LR. THe LR infotainment is subpar for the price point.

    • @Quantum_AI_Tech
      @Quantum_AI_Tech  5 лет назад +2

      It's the brand ones buying over specs and quality of build, Volvos are better built but not as premium a brand, maybe Volvo should build land rovers ?

    • @kevinranders
      @kevinranders 5 лет назад

      @@Quantum_AI_Tech I think LR used to be considered a premium brand. I think over time their dependability and reliability issues have chipped away at that brand.

    Hi can anyone advice my dad has the same car as the one shown here, on the dashboard right side from the P signal there are 3 signs showing every time I accelerate they go green but I can get rid of them please advise as iv tried everything to switch them off iv tried everything apart from mechanics and dealers

    • @Quantum_AI_Tech
      @Quantum_AI_Tech  3 года назад +1

      Theyre not built well, prone to start generating faults after about 3 years i.e. out of warranty. You'l need to get the codes read, either a garage or buy a good code reader.

    I don't know how LR can get away with naming this car a Discovery. It's more like a Freelander than a Discovery. A bit of a con really.
