In a lot of states judges hand are tied with the so called “ bail reform.” Here in NYC a judge can’t take into account the possible danger a suspect might to the public when considering bail or no bail. Here they give them an appearance ticket and the suspect goes on his merry way. Very very few crimes here allow for automatic bail. This covers all of NY state, however here in NYC the effect from this travesty has turn the place into a criminal’s paradise. The Wild West on steroids.

I learned years ago as a martial artist to NEVER get in a car with somebody with a gun no matter what the threat. Your chances at survival in the car are way lower than out of it. On another note...apprehend the creep who did this and immediate public execution by firing squad. All these incidents have a pattern. It's always by criminals who have a history of crime and should've already been in jail in the first place. The victims need to start suing the judges and the government for dereliction of duty. It's ridiculous that judges are prioritizing the feelings of criminals over the safety of law-abiding citizens. The price of this criminals freedom, so that he could continue his rampage, was $40,000, but as you may know that only requires a $4,000 security pledge to meet the Bail bondman's requirements. I agree, that if in your case, you kill the bad guy, he will no longer cause you or society any problems, but for a lot a people if the corrupt judges would do there job and keep these criminals incarcerated (close the revolving door) this goes a long way toward keeping the Citizens safe and has a similar effect, to your solution of killing the criminal, in that, the criminal will no longer be a threat to society. Giving the corrupt, lazy, liberal, socialist judges (and other like minded city/county officials) the boot and replacing that scum with Public Servants who will protect us might be a good start. If your idea of living in a criminal hell hole like other Dem run cities like Chicago, Memphis, Detroit, Portland, Seattle, etc. is the way to go, then do nothing, If you want and expect better, then demand all Harris County Public Servants be held accountable for their actions.

Out on bond? That is ridiculous. The law should be changed. If a person out on bond is arrested for a felony, not necessarily convicted, that bond should be forfeited. If some mother or uncle are foolish enough to put up their homes to get them out of jail, I guess the home gets auctioned off. To prevent that from happening, all the person has to do is not put themselves in a position that would get them arrested before the bond is released. Is that asking too much?

What do we do with crowded prisons that are majorly understaffed? Build more prisons with no staff. Recidivism is high and correctional staff is at a high turnover rate. It all starts from the top with these problems.

That's not how it works at all. The DA fights bond and the Judge decides whether or not the suspect is held over until trial. And it's not billionaires backing anyone that leads to bonds. It's the U.S. Constitution that prohibits unreasonable seizures and provides for a swift trial. With the backlog of cases on the docket, it's become a revolving door at the courthouse.

Additionally, the DA files a criminal complaint with the Judge and must have evidence to support each such criminal allegation or face the dismissal of the Complaint before the trial even begins. Finally, a local policeman cannot just by pass the local prosecutor in favor of taking the case to the FBI. The federal prosecutor can only take a case if there is federal jurisdiction. I get that you have an opinion on the legal process, but I am an attorney.

Well to be fair that's not exactly what happened. This young man had just dropped his baby mama off at the nuclear physicist summit, And he was on his way to vacation Bible school with his 3-year-old girl. It's gotten to the point where a black man can't even get a pizza anymore.
