They lived with their dad now, my buddy, directly across from me.. but when they were on 5 and 7 they were living with their mom and it turns out their step dad was all high on meth.. tied the boys up.. and decapitated their mom right in front of them. Yeah I dont think it was a big decision at all i think that detective knew that poor child was a miracle to be alive and didn't want him to go through any more pain by not having a caring family to be with. I think that detective automatically knew after seeing the poor heartbreak that baby witnessed and endured that he needed to show him that a father is supposed to love and protect their kids. I think it was an easy decision, if i was in the detectives shoes it would had been an easy decision for me and i would had done the same as he did.

My parents met me at a month old because they knew the foster parent at the time. My parents looked at her and said “This is gonna be our daughter”. They went to the prison my mom was in at the time and asked her permission to adopt me. 🎉Adopted me at a year and i’m now 21. I don’t know where i’d be without them. It is appalling that the legal system allowed that to happen! The monster should never have been allowed to torture his child further in court after what he (the child) had been through. He has so much strength and courage to stand up to his bully of a father after such a terrible life and traumatic experience. I hope though, that it helped him heal from the terrified child to the more confident young man he seems to be now.
I hope he is able to conquer the horror he has experienced in his formative years with the help of his loving adopted family. He has a hard row to hoe ahead of him.

Yeah, the American court system is so messed up and immoral to allow what happened. That's outright child abuse. It should be mandatory in situations like this that the child be "cross examined" by a third party. If the person refuses to allow that, that's their problem.

The fact that a court room allowed the man that tried to murder this boy to then cross examine him in court is truly disgusting.

don't think that has to do with the court room. The law allows it

It was via video and he is allowed to represent himself. I don’t think it’s ok but that’s the law.

I think it's better for the court but not for the kid, the more he tries to defend himself from the jury the more they will see how guilty he is, the faster conviction he will get. But as for the kid he will become more traumatized

Honestly one of the saddest court cases I’ve heard of. Rip to the mother and daughter that lost their life. Bless the detective and his family for taking him in with open arms.
