As a black child who was adopted by a white family, this broke and healed my heart. My biological mom did several hard drugs when she was pregnant with me. My parents met me at a month old because they knew the foster parent at the time. My parents looked at her and said “This is gonna be our daughter”. They went to the prison my mom was in at the time and asked her permission to adopt me. 🎉Adopted me at a year and i’m now 21. I don’t know where i’d be without them. They had 3 sons already and they loved me more than anything . Only have 1 sibling alive now but i’ll always be grateful to have found my forever family 🤍.
Ronnie is a HERO, not only did he fight to survive his brutal attack, he then went on to court and testified on behalf of his mom and sister so that justice would be seen for them. He is incredibly brave and he deserves a wonderful and beautiful life. I hope his hurt and sorrow turn one day to joy, it was very amazing that the detective adopted Ronnie...they all look very happy together.
My prayers go out for this young child, who survived a terrible experience. And I thank this couple for adopting him and giving him love. After having a violent father.
@ winters - then you must detest the fact that prayers work as this child was adopted by a loving family who is still receiving ongoing prayers for recovery and healing. Prayer works regardless of what you believe.
My father stabbed my mother to death in 2004. I was just a child and it still haunts me to this day. Swing my moms pictures all over the news and reporters in my face when I was just a child. It’s crazy how much this boy has went through. I can truly understand his pain
For that disgusting so called "father" to stand in court and ask that question. It's amazing how this young boy survived so much trauma. May this young child heal and grow and not allow this horrific event to stop him from living an amazing life and may the man that took this young child into his arms live a healthy, long and amazing life alongside.
That hug was full of love. Every kid deserves a loving father figure in their lives and it's so wonderful to see that this young man finally has one in his life. I wish their family the best, and kudos to his new siblings for openly accepting his new brother.
I am literally sitting at my desk in tears. This little boys story needs to be a movie. The detective needs to be promoted, given a parade, and be flooded with goodness from every corner in life. The detectives family should have a cruise. But there's not enough punishment for ....
Just witnessing his mother and sister’s death is traumatic, your own father trying to kill you and then the audacity of cross examining him is just horrifying. His eyes tell a story that he’s happy but he will never forget that. I hope he’s getting better and better every day. ❤
It is appalling that the legal system allowed that to happen! The monster should never have been allowed to torture his child further in court after what he (the child) had been through. He has so much strength and courage to stand up to his bully of a father after such a terrible life and traumatic experience. I hope though, that it helped him heal from the terrified child to the more confident young man he seems to be now. I hope he is able to conquer the horror he has experienced in his formative years with the help of his loving adopted family. He has a hard row to hoe ahead of him.
I'm sure he's much happier and safer now that he's with a family that loves him and that monster is behind bars. Of course, that won't erase the trauma and pain caused by that incident, but he will slowly and surely heal, especially surrounded by so much love now.
Yeah, the American court system is so messed up and immoral to allow what happened. That's outright child abuse. It should be mandatory in situations like this that the child be "cross examined" by a third party. If the person refuses to allow that, that's their problem.
I'm so happy he got justice and hes in a much better place now. He went through more than anybody should in his short life already, he deserves to be happy

The arrogance and total lack of remorse from his father shows what a monster he really is. I am so happy the boy has people now that cares about him. I also hope he will put his father in the past and move forward with his new life.

Broken system, when he says "you stabbed me" you can hear the disbelief in the sons voice. Its exactly what we're all thinking, "you're never getting out bubba"
It is heartbreaking and even traumatic. However, the kiddo seems to be very brave and strong and probably agreed to take the stand. If it would have been too traumatic I assume they would have not allowed it.

This is an old comment but I want to provide the following reference: The 6th Amdt. to The U.S. Constitution provides the absolute right of the accused to cross examine witnesses against them. Its a fundamental tenant of due process.
And he had to be asked if he would testify, based on what the sob did,I imagine the child was asked if he would be ok to testify against his dad. And he did and now his dad got life in prison.
Without children's testimonies a lot.of the time scumbags get off because the witness is too young or too scared due to age. This child was brave and deserves his flowers !
But he was accused and charged by the district attorney on behalf of the jurisdiction, not by the young child he stabbed repeatedly sweet on fire or the wife and daughter he murdered. There was more than enough evidence to try him without subjecting a victim to that circus.
In the real world, welcome i guess ? you've been sheltered your whole life havent you ? same as all libs, thinking stuff is crazy and unfair for people, when it's been around forever and that's how the world works, it's not a wonderful land, that's why we say "cruel world" but dems think they can make it disneyworld everywhere, but it's a fluke to get the votes while they do the opposite in the back and lie in the front.. i had to say it.
This story gives me chills. Between the disgusting acts of that waste of oxygen who better NEVER see the light of day, to the miracle that is that little boy, to the unconditional love his new family has not hesitated for one second to pour over him, there’s so much to feel in this story. Ultimately you gotta be overjoyed that he’s safe and thriving.
It's good to know that he is thriving despite everything he went through. Of course the physical wounds may have healed, but the mental wounds may never heal completely. I wish him a lot of good luck in his life!
I agree, but at the very least, this young man now has an example of how to be a real man and Father. If this all works out, he will grow up to be a thriving member of society, a non-criminal, and a father to kids who will be given a home with great love. That's how I hope this all turns out.
I hope he’s getting therapy. It’ll take a lot of effort to get through the trauma. It’s great he has a family but he also needs more. Can’t just go back to normal. There’s a lot to deal with emotionally and mentally.
I think it's better for the court but not for the kid, the more he tries to defend himself from the jury the more they will see how guilty he is, the faster conviction he will get. But as for the kid he will become more traumatized
Honestly one of the saddest court cases I’ve heard of. Rip to the mother and daughter that lost their life. Bless the detective and his family for taking him in with open arms.

That vile man didn’t put him on the stand. That is something only Ronnie could have agreed to do. As a black child who was adopted by a white family, this broke and healed my heart. My biological mom did several hard drugs when she was pregnant with me. crazier is the court giving him access to doing that like what that boy went through wasnt enough... mind blowing

Yeah, the American court system is so messed up and immoral to allow what happened. That's outright child abuse. It should be mandatory in situations like this that the child be "cross examined" by a third party. If the person refuses to allow that, that's their problem.

In what universe does this child have to take the witness stand?! I'm happy this young boy has found a family who love him.
This is an old comment but I want to provide the following reference:
The 6th Amdt.
