My husband got into a fight with two guys last week who were talking 💩 to the Palestinian cashier at the smoke shop. They were knocking stuff down saying go back to your country. My husband told them to knock it off and get out. One of them tried to attack my husband. He hit each of them once. Police and EMT were called. No charges against my husband as it was self defense. Yes he pressed charges on them. As did the store and the cashier.

Everyone in comments has said how horrible the hateful woman was, as they should! But since that's been well covered, I want to compliment the victim. He handled that as well as anyone could, and better than most would! I respect and admire him and can clearly see what a wonderful father he'll be! I have no doubt he'll raise his children to be loving and tolerant and respectful. The world needs more of that and a whole lot less of the hateful woman.

I'm a retired police commander and I am quite proud of this responsible young man for 1st., Protecting his wife, 2nd., he clearly and repeatedly told the offender to stop and desist in her behavior as she freely chose to not only continue her unlawful acts but wanted to escalate the situation. This was made all the worse by its hateful intentions towards 2 innocent people in a coffee shop. Well done young man and I believe your understated calmness, considering what you were faced with, will have opened the eyes of many harbouring pre-conceptions!

He stated that he was of Palestinian descent and merely because he identified his ancestry the woman instantly became aggressive and obnoxious escalating the situation and was clearly stepping way beyond free-speech. She broke the law not because of her exercising her free speech but because of 1st: her physical actions which is causing a disturbance in a public place i.e., the coffee shop and 2nd., she pushed beyond the protected boundaries of free speech by using and inciting hate speech and becoming violent. Please understand that this man and his pregnant wife were strangers to this woman they were being peaceful and minding their own business and not initiating or engaging with woman. There is absolutely no problem with free speech within the boundaries of what is legal and this woman clearly breached those boundaries. The simplest way to look at this is to switch this around and invision that the woman is in the coffee shop and the man and wife approached her, a complete stranger and took offence to her wearing a shirt that simply said "Israel". At this point the woman pulls out a cellphone to record the couple verbally accosting her and the couple immediately became violent lunging at the woman to take or damage her phone and using hate speech. At the same time the women clearly stated for the couple to stop and that she didn't want to be physically and repeatedly accosted. In this situation the couple would be charged and held accountable for their outrageous and unlawful behavior. It works both ways and is a cautionary tale about what was completely avoidable by a person or people to just be peaceful, respectful and just mind your own business no matter whatever is your view and/or opinion...

I know a S. Asian Indian family in Chicago whose kids attend a predominantly white elementary public school where their classmates refuse to sit/play with them saying that their skin is the color of 💩. The parents tried complaining to the teachers and the principal but they were ignored/not taken seriously. So they have started the process of selling their home and moving some place where there might be more brown people. Even if they move, do you think those kids will get over the trauma of the racist abuse they have experienced in elementary school without any help or support from their teachers?

I don't remember the name of the term, regarding the Jewish responsibility to be helpful and kind, but I remember the impact of learning about it when the Jewish women raised funds and helped get medicine for a humanitarian group taking supplies to Gaza.
From my personal experience, Jewish women are more likely to step up and help than behave like this woman in the coffee shop. And much more likely to make decisions based on what is healthiest for the community as a whole, than a lot women from another religion.

The guy got mad they didn’t speak English and started yelling at them to go back to their country. I put myself between them and refused to let him get a word in and basically chased him out of the store yelling over him. I most certainly would have intervened in this situation whether or not my job permitted me to do so.

Yeah, I'd have intervened, it'd be up to whatever's left of her to call 911 for rescue. Despite being inconvenienced with a cane, it does make an excellent tool for blocking blows, as well as a means to avoid soiling my hands in trips or striking.

She disavowed her citizenship before witnesses in claiming a foreign land for "her country", which would get reported to the US Department of State as a renouncement of citizenship on her part. She'd get two counts of assault upon a protected class, for assaulting the pregnant woman and myself, a disabled veteran. She'd get aggravated charges for hate crimes as well. Whether it's federal or state is up to the local prosecutor, who likely would take up the charges once I got started and calls started coming in from old Army buddies in D.C.. I do fight dirty and city hall when aroused to ire.
And I'd happily pay her renouncement fees, as State now charges citizens to renounce their citizenship.

As an Asian American, i have experienced this kind of harassment on the street... once almost got beat up by a group of teens of another minority group, and no one helped. The only reason they didn't beat me up was because I was on the phone with 911 and one of the kids dragged the leader of the group away. If it wasn't for that one kid, i would be in the hospital.
