Stolen cars are used to commit crimes but they are caught because someone recognised the car itself. They will drive the white SUV in the neighbourhood but people don't know its stolen until its in the news.

I experienced this while out at a grocery store the criminals were just sitting in the parking lot, I noticed them as soon as I parked two men and a woman looking like the home alone criminals. One slumped down in the car and a man and woman standing outside of their car. After I go into the store I look up from the self checkout, she hurried back out to her car. I then said to myself something is wrong. I pull out the parking lot. I happened to look in my rear view mirror here they come but they let a car get in between me and them so they stayed their distance. I kept my eye on them and started plotting to myself I am not going home. So I went into the library parking lot and and sat and they turned down the same street and looked over and saw me sitting in the parking lot and turned around in the middle of the street I then got behind them and started following them to let them know I know you following me and then I went back to a police officer and told him that I know he saw them and he said yes. I proceeded to tell him what transpired. Be alert always look around. This was in broad daylight.

This happens around the world. While living in Turkey, I left my car quickly to buy fresh bread. I just happen to look back at my car and two young guys were trying to open the door. I keep cans of hornet spray throughout my home and in my vehicle, one is always in each door pocket. The lady being robbed could have easily sprayed his face. The impact is immediate and powerful. The perp drops to their knees and will usually urinate on themselves, often followed by soiling themselves. The range is up to 15' on the cans I purchased, even if only sprayed on bare skin hornet spray has a strong impact.

I had 2 driving instructors in 2 different states, one of them taught me if you can’t see the bottom of the rear tire of the vehicle you are stopped behind you are too close. They taught me this for emergency situations like this where you need to swerve around the vehicle in front of you.

I had a roommate get blocked in a parking space after being followed back to apartment, and they got his wallet. Nothing in it, but I would have made the block. I needed to see LIFE in a different perspective. My first child changed my life entirely. And thru him I was able leave that old life behind. I learned to be a father since I never had one to teach me how to. Learned to work hard for them. I make 120k a year now and work in the aerospace field. I'm glad I changed the way I thought of things. I almost did life in prison and I believe I had a second chance in life. So I took that chance.

Carry a can of wasp spray on the seat of the car. It has the force to spray 5-6 feet once that door is open or window broken. Not everyone feels comfortable with a gun, but you can spray the person in the eyes and face and they will back off. What a frightening situation!
Seen so many of these smash-and-grab at traffic stops lately (e.g., Oakland expressway where they took the dude's video gear). They know you're stuck in a traffic jam, so your car can't move. They just smash the back of your car window, take it as if you weren't there, and take off because their (stolen) car can exit while yours can't. Police have more important things to do than care about your $500 worth of stolen property. If they caught the suspects, the prosecutors would just let them go anyway.

In the US it falls under the castle doctrine law. In other words the car is considered like your house would so if you shoot on self defense you are 👍 and protected by that law. Of course there always has to be proof. Example: window broken, or weapon on the criminals possession.

That is one thing I always tell my family and friend's. Never stop too closely to the car that is in front of so you allow yourself to move in case there is an accident, fire and in this case some idiot robbing you. I lived in Houston for 5 years, I was coming out of the Walmart on Rice Blvd and Westpark next to 610 and a lady was screaming at someone that snatched her purse and drove off as she left it on the cart to turn to put her groceries in her car. That maneuver actually saved my life years ago when a drunk driver hit me from behind. I always practice it at stop lights and I also practice constant mirror checks and visual scanning of the area. When I saw the driver approaching me at a high speed I turned my steering wheel and when he hit me my vehicle was pushed into the next lane instead of into the car in front of me because I had that space. Hard to explain but it worked.
I got robbed at a red light once. Looked in my rear view mirror and saw flashing blue lights. By the time it was over I missed 3 days of work, had to pay 180 fine and 150 in court costs.

I live in L.A. so keeping an “out” is second nature for me because sitting at lights and being stuck in traffic is an everyday occurrence here and you never know who’s trying to get at you or someone surrounding you. A terrible way to live, but necessary.

When not inside my home I always have my Glock and CCW on my person. (Yes, even walking to the mailbox.) I keep cans of hornet spray throughout my home and in my vehicle, one is always in each door pocket. The lady being robbed could have easily sprayed his face. The impact is immediate and powerful. The perp drops to their knees and will usually urinate on themselves, often followed by soiling themselves. The range is up to 15' on the cans I purchased, even if only sprayed on bare skin hornet spray has a strong impact.
I think we can all agree that there needs to be a law that allow law abiding citizens to smoke these thieves / robber without repercussion from the DA.

I had 2 driving instructors in 2 different states, one of them taught me if you can’t see the bottom of the rear tire of the vehicle you are stopped behind you are too close. They taught me this for emergency situations like this where you need to swerve around the vehicle in front of you.

When I did do that in my past, everyone was my target and if you looked weak and soft, you would be my easiest target. I bring terror in people. I needed to see LIFE in a different perspective. My first child changed my life entirely. And thru him I was able leave that old life behind. I learned to be a father since I never had one to teach me how to. Learned to work hard for them. I make 120k a year now and work in the aerospace field. I'm glad I changed the way I thought of things. I almost did life in prison and I believe I had a second chance in life. So I took that chance.

Carry a can of wasp spray on the seat of the car. It has the force to spray 5-6 feet once that door is open or window broken. Not everyone feels comfortable with a gun, but you can spray the person in the eyes and face and they will back off. What a frightening situation!
Seen so many of these smash-and-grab at traffic stops lately (e.g., Oakland expressway where they took the dude's video gear). They know you're stuck in a traffic jam, so your car can't move. They just smash the back of your car window, take it as if you weren't there, and take off because their (stolen) car can exit while yours can't. Police have more important things to do than care about your $500 worth of stolen property. If they caught the suspects, the prosecutors would just let them go anyway.

Never stop too closely to the car that is in front of so you allow yourself to move in case there is an accident, fire and in this case some idiot robbing you. I lived in Houston for 5 years, I was coming out of the Walmart on Rice Blvd and Westpark next to 610 and a lady was screaming at someone that snatched her purse and drove off as she left it on the cart to turn to put her groceries in her car. Never stop right behind the vehicle in front of you without giving or allowing space between you and the car in front in case you need to veer to the side and quickly take off.
That maneuver actually saved my life years ago when a drunk driver hit me from behind. I always practice it at stop lights and I also practice constant mirror checks and visual scanning of the area. When I saw the driver approaching me at a high speed I turned my steering wheel and when he hit me my vehicle was pushed into the next lane instead of into the car in front of me because I had that space. Hard to explain but it worked.
I got robbed at a red light once. Looked in my rear view mirror and saw flashing blue lights. By the time it was over I missed 3 days of work, had to pay 180 fine and 150 in court costs.

Maybe have a decoy purse in the passenger seat and use it as you go into the bank and or any establishment the remove your money and personal ID, etc and stash it elsewhere. Criminals are going to be more common place as our government is allowing this to continue.

I agree with constantly checking your mirrors, and always give yourself enough room to escape if needed. If all else fails, pull out the strap and start blasting away.
I was trained as a young driver by my stepdad to be aware of my surroundings at all times. And yes allow yourself space between the car in front of you to allow an escape (car rear end accident) to get out of the way. Now think Criminally minded way to escape from insurance fraud or robbery. Please people teach your young drivers the same.

Ppl need to be more aware of their surroundings. When in congestion don’t go too close to the vehicle in front of u and get boxed in. Leave space to maneuver in case of emergency
