The Process
---------------------
The goal will be branding and packaging design for a fictional frozen yogurt company, Yogo.
We will look at the branding and identity process for a food company and create some nice product illustrations. I'll be doing the logo, graphic illustration, and mockup design in Photoshop CC.

Hey Brandon amazing video, what fonts did you use for the flavour and the logo
Thanks a lot! The Flavor font was "Bloomer", and the Frozen Yogurt font was "ARCO Typography"
It's was something different and fun at the same time
@@BrandonShep thank you
Anything you do seems to be different and fun. Keep doing good work mate. Well done!
Honestly, this man's drawing skills are very underappreciated

@@Shibu_069 why are you copying me
@@MangoMonkey7 likewise, you have copied thousands of others 😝
@@Shibu_069 but on the same comment
You should design book covers! I think that'd be a fun video! also keep up the good work, I love your videos.
like a cook book?
@@sloppypoo- like a fun science book i guess
@@sloppypoo- any
@@innerFOXYT bro what did i say wrong?
@@sloppypoo- what? I said nothing😅
If I saw frozen yogurt that looks like this in a store, I would buy them. The illustrations are amazing!
Dude, you're one of my favorite Designer on RUclips right now! Keep on going and I guarantee you this channel is gonna go HUGE!
Thanks for the confidence! Let's hope you're right 😄
Yes bro I never seen before like this graphic designing
All of you’re videos make me so hungry
For real!!!
@@BrandonShep He was definitely right 😁
I share your videos with my friends who graduated advertising. Said “I love this guy. He’s so chill and talented.”
Awesome! Thanks so much for the support and sharing the vids. It really helps a lot :)
😀
Omg you make it look so easy!! Good job love your content
Been binge watching. These are legitimately abridged master classes. Keep up the great work, and we’ll try to keep up!
I appreciate that you take your time to explain your process, hope you do an Adobe live video so we see more in-depth work
That would be awesome!
I think the best sponsorship would be a company getting a new package design by Brandon and Brandon making a video just like this. Would be perfect and I am sure everyone would love to see it!
No joke, if this was a real purchasable product, I’d buy it. Looks great with the design! 😁 your doing great Brandon. Keep up the great work
Me too!
Yogo is actually a real thing, it’s an Australian yogurt dessert, but sadly it doesn’t have the designs that Brandon made
It looks incredible, it seems that everything looks like a flat drawing and the shadows and lights make everything change.
I love your videos. 🖤
Lighting is half the battle sometimes :)
use normal emojis
@@originalni_popisovac if you're talking about them looking different from what you're used to, RUclips uses a different style (Noto Color [sic] Emoji)
I feel like the illustrated shadows take away a bit.
@@originalni_popisovac Yes sir. Any future emoji use violations will be reported to you immediately so you may deal with them
You're so effortlessly good with all that you do on your channel. You're one of my favourite designer & I watch your videos many times to understand better. Post videos more often, please! You're amazing!
Thanks so much, Romi! More coming soon :)
My biggest complaint about your channel is that there isn’t another 200 videos to watch! Love your work and the way you showcase it! ❤
It'd be cool to have starbursts coming from the back of the coconut, banana, and dragonfruit images to draw more attention. I think especially for the banana you need that. It has plenty of shading but not enough light.
What I love about your videos is that your design starts off so rough, but you're able to transform it into something that looks fantastic. This is something I struggle with since I find it hard to imagine the end result from the start. So I have to ask: how do you prepare for a design before you start making it in Photoshop? If you have any particular approach, I think we'd all appreciate seeing how you think!
Great question, John!
1) I usually start by making sure I understand the design brief well, because a brief gives you the most important thing - Constraints. It's much easier to be creative within a set of boundaries than if you have endless possibilities.
2) Then, I head over to Pinterest and make a moodboard of other designs/styles that inspire me. It's important to draw inspiration from areas other than the one you're working on. For ex. for a packaging design, I may look at examples of web design or magazine layouts. Pull from all areas, and you'll be able to borrow techniques that others don't often find because they have tunnel vision.
3) I try to think of one core element of the design, whether that be the title, a featured graphic, a color scheme, and then build on that. You have to have a center to start with that you can expand on.
4) Then, try a bunch of things. Never just sit and stare at your screen. If an idea pops into your head, just do it instantly. Push things as far and as crazy as you can. This is where creativity actually happens.
5) You'll often find a piece of gold in Step 4. Once you have it, focus on it and conform the whole design around it. Always ask how each element will be perceived and utilized by the end user/customer. Make slight improvements till you end up with something you're happy with. And don't be afraid to throw away what you have if it's not working.
6) Get other people's opinions on it. That's the only way we grow :)
@@BrandonShep Wow, thanks for taking the time to answer my question so thoroughly! I really like the fourth point you made. I struggle a lot with conceptualizing before designing, which is a huge flaw because creativity is spontaneous, not planned. Keep up the phenomenal videos!
Really dig these designs, definitely feels like something trendy that I'd see in the market today! Great process and insight.
Haha, right on. In the grocery store the biggest aspects to avoid is being a commodity. These designs would do a good job of that.
I love the illustrated style of this video. That packaging was super cute and well thought out. I wish the dragonfruit had some of the black speckles on white since that’s pretty iconic imagery for that fruit, maybe on the flavor title text. I would love to see other videos like this. Thank you for another great upload.
Nice idea with the speckles! I didn't think most people were even that familiar with it for it to make much of a difference. But maybe more people know about it that I thought
Brandon Shepherd I feel like it’s becoming a more trendy “millennial” flavor, but I also live in South Florida so maybe I just have more exposure to tropical fruits/ cuisine down here?
@@BrandonShep Dragonfruits are memorable because the poop also has seeds
Brandon, thank you for this! As a designer expanding into packaging design, your laid back style and explaining it without over explaining is perfect!! Thank you!!!!
This man has revived my addiction to long form content. And saved my attention span from the absolute brain rot on yt shorts
If all companies will hire you, the world would be a vibrant colorful one, and I love that. ❤️✨
Please do more YOGOS
I've watched a look of tutorials and so far yours is the easiest to follow. You made it look like doing it is just a piece of cake. I'll definitely watch all your upcoming videos.
My favorite is the coconut flavor one. ❤
You make everything so cleanly. It's amazing to watch. I don't understand how people even do that.
These designs are super cute! Stumbled onto these videos and love seeing the process 😁
I really like how you're not afraid to experiment and just go along with the process! I thought YO to GO would be a cute logo name for that LOL anyway, the designs turned out 🔥🔥
The power of copy and paste could never be replaced
I love how he reduces any drawing to it's very basic shapes and just adds a tiny bit of details and shading and then it starts becoming so JUICY
I love how you made the illustrations really easily!
This is my first video and I’m definitely gonna check out more 🤩
These ended up absolutely fantastic! Loved how you explained the process behind every change.
The quality of your content and the production of your video is insane. I've been binging your video all day and I learned a lot.
Make this a real product, it’s incredible the designs you make! ❤
Being waiting from very long for your videos
It has been a while hasn't it :)
@@BrandonShep indeed.. Still you didn't fail to impress. I get inspired.. U make the process looks so easy. ❤️
been waiting eagerly for the next Brandon Shepherd video and im not disappointed
Glad you like it, Sheikh! I'm doing my best to find ways to upload more regularly :)
Just discovered this channel lately, and all I have to say is thank you.
This guy randomly showed up on my feed, now I'm hooked
I'm a brand new subscriber to your content, I'm a self taught 3D Generalist & Graphic Designer and really love your style and your chilled and relaxed approach. I'm slowly going through your videos and learning more and more and implementing it into my own work. Keep up the great work and I hope you get more and more recognition.
Welcome aboard, Johnny! Very happy to have you here, and I hope to do everything I can to help you out on your design journey 😄
You are amazing!! Can you please do Packaging Design for Tea? I would love to see that!
Great suggestion! I'll consider that for a future video
this man has like hella amount of talent and creativity ...he was born to do this job
I would most definitely buy this. Like no joke, that looks so much like something I would find in the frozen section and go “ooh ok, this looks good! I’ll grab one.”
Wish you had more followers so you could do this shit full time. The wait between vids is wayyyy too long! 🥳
Everybody needs to use my link and buy an Adobe Stock subscription, and then I could lol 😂
@@BrandonShep what about a Patreon?^^
@@thejackxd23 Patreon seems very hit or miss honestly, even with large channels. My current monitization strategy is:
1) Develop paid design courses
2) I'm thinking of making a private group (monthly subscription) that people could join, where I would post exclusive content, give work critique, give advice on making design your primary source of income, and overall help people succeed in the design world.
Would a group like that seem valuable?
@@BrandonShep oeeh that are two great options! I might up for a group^^, a course aswell tbh. Maybe focused on advanced design and workflows or the why in your design or even the way of brainstorming for fun lil projects
@@BrandonShep What about opening RUclips Channel up for a subscription ? That could be very nice also.
I am always left in shock at how every single one of your videos are created with such high quality content alongside such concise and enthusiastic execution! Can't thank you enough for sharing your process with us :)
so cool to watch how you come up with the ideas, and how you work them into the designs.
WOW! I'm just blown away by your illustration process.
Love you. ❤❤❤
youre so amazing!! this wouldve taken me foreverrr to do!
The editing makes it look much easier than it was lol :)
Amazing work as always. Could you do an in-depth video on shadows and highlights as well the brushes that you use 🥺? I struggle with that a lot in Photoshop
I'll be making a course over that in the near future :)
I love these designs. So simple and fun!
amazing bro, because of you i started packaging designing
That's so great to hear! I hope you enjoy it as much as I do :)
awesome job!
I'm always amazed how easy it looks when you do shadows and highlights and from simple object you can draw anything.
could you maybe do a video about shadows and highlights in a more detailed video?
Thank you so much 😀 I'm planning on making a lighting/shading course in the near future
a banana is growing on a coconut tree LMAO
I love your illustrations of the fruit, they’re so cute!
The definition of "trust the process"... Started with a single banana, love it!
I just came across this channel and I think it's really majestic... I couldn't imagine all of your designs come true as for I watched some of your vids and can clearly see that if all of them build together we might be in a little bit of a problem, bit still... heck, that's amazing! Seeing every one of your works is just astonishing. Keep it up! Saying it tho you'll probably never read a com from 2 years ago video but still sending my message. You're great!
I’d BUY from the packaging alone!
I guess that’s the POWER of great Brand Design…
These are so fire! Its crazy how artistically gifted you are. Love the cartoon style fruits!
Wow, you are picking up colours instantly. ❤️❤️❤️.
theres a company called yogo that has frozen yogurt💀
Plugs Adobe Stock........then proceeds to not use stock imagery in the final project. I love it. 😂
lol. To be fair, the cup mockup was from Adobe Stock 🤷♂️
These designs brought out memories I forgot I had
I could watch these videos forever. Love how you explain your entire process. Subscribed.
Welcome aboard! Glad you liked it
For the banana yogurt I would write the flavour, not directly on a banana, but a banana split so people know it’s a frozen treat and banana flavoured. Also YoGo is an Aussie brand of custard, I mean seriously if you make a yogurt on the go you’d be a bloody gronk not to call it that!
Your videos are excellent! I just finished watching them all. You make everything seem so logical. You do a great job explaining why you are making your decisions.
Glad you liked them, Andrew! Hope you enjoy the new ones to come :)
Imagine breaking my client's logo in half just for the purpose of my design. I would probably got shot hahaha. Jokes apart, I loved the designs!
I would absolutely DEVOUR all these yogurts if they existed
You're best packaging designer ever! That all top skills in photoshop and illustrator!
I'm just studying graphic design and this guy and his creations just gives me a lot of ideas, I love ur style
Your videos are great. Your personality is awesome. And your designs are absolutely out of this world.
I like the simpler designs, before the details.
Also yes a pitaya does grow on a cactus and the taste is in between a mellow kiwi and opuntia fig.
Im obsessed with your vids rn! I love it!
Bro you're rebranding and making your own brand is so cool to watch and learn how to do it like a pro keep up the grind you're going to go huge.
These designs make me want to go to Walmart and get some Yogo. Spectacular job!
i cant believe how this person create this amazing packaging design in few minutes , it looks like a playing game for this person
This guy trained me on how to draw at all. I love these videos.
extremely underrated, your work deserves WAY more attention! i absolutely love them!
you are the best graphic designer i have seen!
You literally saved my time i was bored and when i saw this video i was more energetic thank you brandon
I love watching these
i've seen 3 video's of you and you are already my favourite youtuber.
Amazing work ! I really love your design/ fruit illustration ‘ style ! Well done !
The arrow on the g was perfect as it represented the go
lowkey you might be the best in the world at this
You make it look so easy. Pure talent right there. Keep it up.
i watch and rewatch these weekly till each new episode comes out.
New subscriber and I love your videos.
I would 100% watch a longer version of your videos where you go into more detail into the technical side explaining techniques and stuff
I discovered your channel a while ago and love your content, you teach me more than any RUclips channel.
This is too good. As all of his videos. I think the dragon fruit one would have been cool with the black dots on the text. Because they’re white with the seeds in them on the inside. These videos are too good though. And so calming
I just started watching your videos, and they are amazing
Why do I love this so much?
Man!!!! That was a Masterclass. Im Speechless
Gosh! I could watch you work all day. Absolutely incredible!!
Thank you so much! Really glad you like them :)
I don't know anything about design and this video was so mesmerizing to watch!!! Thanks for sharing your talent.
you are a wizard. I'm impressed
These YOGOs all ready looks delicious just by looking at the logo!!!🥰
These are not yogos lmao, there is already something called yogo and they are actually delicious not this fake banana ass shit
Bro your designs are freaking awesome! Instant inspiration!
If every product in the supermarket looked like this, it'd have me buying the whole store💀
That’s amazing! Great job 👏 If I saw this in a store I would buy every flavour! 😊
Dude, this is awesome! Great design!
I love this and the way you design and describe this. You are amazing! inspired
i just watched your few videos and you just became my inspiration, amazing desings❤
I wanna eat these now, the design makes the food look highlighted and focused on.
Also, The designs are better than 99% of company redesign, by a lot
