It doesn’t get much better than this. The current 911 has gotten crazy expensive, but for the lucky few who can afford it, this is driving bliss perfected. We’d gladly take a Miami Blue Targa 4 GTS and keep it forever. What does your dream 911 look like?
@@shaheenevans I have only one slight minus with 992 GT3 and that is the size, it is quite big so on small alpine B roads you do not feel as small and when tractor or larger car in the opposite direction you have to really be more careful and sometimes you feel it is not a nimblr sports car anymore because it is a bigger supercar size. Nice video, the manual does have Launch Control as well. You need to be in Sport Plus mode, clutch pedal fully in, select first gear, mash the throttle and it holds revs at 5k rpm and then you drop the clutch. Then you will achieve the 3.9 secs I'm sure!
I'm glad Porsche is bringing the manuals around for one last run. This generation should be good for another 5 years, so there is time. At $150k for a Carrera 4 GTS Manual, I'll have to get to this later on. It's twice the price of a Louts Emira, which I have my eye on. Love that this is available in manual AWD. That is a special breed I'd collect. The end of an era is upon us.....
DONT DUMP the clutch. I have owned my 2000 911 6-speed for 19 Years and Porsche states 0-60 in 4.9 and I don't think I have ever gotten less then 4.3, with a best of 3.7 on Michelin Pilot Cup 2 tires
Then again, Porsche has always underestimated their numbers. Everything from acceleration to quarter mile to charging times are underestimated and over delivered. There is no substitute.
Be honest, every other person who test drove the targa complained about the buffeting noise above 45 mph and you guys were flying and seemed like the noise was actually bearable and i have been reviewing targa's for years.
It's because the majority of US "car reviewers" tend to be fucking annoying cry babies. Most of these people are just repeating the fucking nonsense they have heard from other idiot "car reviewer" cry babies about "wind buffeting" in the 992 and 991 generation of Porsche 911 Targa models. Honestly, what do these fucking clowns expect from a "semi convertible" vehicle at higher speeds, when the roof is open??? If these idiots want to talk in complete silence to each other at higher speed, well just close the roof, you idiots!!! The open Targa isn't meant for having completely silence at speeds above 80 mph, because it's still a sports car but not a fucking heavy luxury four seater convertible, which has very thick and heavy sealings around the roof, for bringing the noise inside the car to a very low level. By the way: how fast are you allowed to driving on US roads?? 70 or 80 mph in the USA really is fucking slow compared to Germany, where you're allowed driving much faster. And here in Germany really nobody complains about the "buffeting" in a 911 Targa at these higher speeds, because when the Targa roof is open all these louder noises are totally NORMAL... You can't cheat physics, you idiots! The Targa roof is developed by Porsche for still having very low noise level inside the car at German "Landstraßentempo" (which is the maximum speed on German b-roads, not Autobahn) of 100 kmh, which is 62 mph, when the roof is open. That's approximately the speed, you are used in the USA on most of your roads. The Targa roof mechanism for itself is almost PERFECT, just like all the seals around Porsche 911 Cabriolet- and Targa roofs, which are certainly quite top notch in the car industry. Of course there's some "wind buffeting" at a certain speed due to the form of the opening space above the heads of driver and passenger, but it can be reduced very easily by closing the side windows and using the little wind spoiler on the upper edge of the windscreen. How about that??? What's the point from all these fucking annoying USA-cry babies??? I don't get it!
You’re dumping the clutch too fast, you have to get right at that edge of engagement. Then feather it out, with the gas peddle down the whole time. You even have to flat foot shift, keep the gas peddle down.
Iconic sports car with great handling. I'm only disappointed by it's rather quiet or soft ish sound compared to let's say the F-Type SVR which i think has a lot more character and soul.
The videography as you walk by the 911 is tops. The 911 has been a dream car from my HS days in the early 80's, but the lines of the car have evolved perfectly.
They are nice cars--if my opinion as a turbo owner means anything at all. Definitely great cars. However, IMO there are a lot of nice/special cars. The C8, I think, is a knock out. Miatas... No more machine for smiles per dollar. Viper, the most awesome and special car too me.
2:22 there’s a secret way to open the frunk without accessing a switch in the cabin, and it isn’t the key fob. It blew my mind when I saw someone do it in another video recently. Not sure if it’s documented in the owner’s manual.
The controversy over the front end was not about the hood cut lines. It was about the overabundance of black plastic in the front fascia... Which, looks much better in this GTS.
The carbon buckets are NOT “very, very uncomfortable for longer drives”. Many YT reviewers say this with (I’m convinced) never having done long drives in these seats. I own a 718 GT4 with the buckets, which I daily and do tons of long highway drives in, and the seats have never once proven to be uncomfortable. It’s hard to imagine that they’d be comfortable, given how thin and rigid they are, but it’s true.
100% agreed. I had a 981 GT4 with the buckets and daily drove my car for almost 2 years. Once you’re in them they’re comfortable, the only compromise is getting in and out of the car but for long drives they’re fine. On my 992 GTS i optioned the standard sport plus seats for convenience, not because the buckets are uncomfortable.
