"Are you modeling your low poly snow man with the cycles renderer?"
"Well ya, its gotta look realistic"
Haha, I'm so used to using cycles that I didn't even think about it.
@@Goodgis Now that you said it.... I'm doing exactly the same.
Even if is low poly looks good with cycles xd
I approve this Message.
Great Video!
Hey, thanks so much! :D
damn the legend himself elca
Your doing the same with avatar
Hey its the creator of 4 seasons!
@@thelumberjack8838 this has to be a joke
Haha, when you first showed the game footage of your game I actually thought it was an actual N64 game from back in the day. Love it!
That's a huge compliment! :D Thanks so much.
Great work! LOVE the Nintendo 64 aesthetic. Keep this up man.
Thanks man! Will do! :D
@@Goodgis tutorial on how to get 3d games like that????? Plssssssssssss 🥺
I 100 percented this game. :O
This is true...

hi firith!
@Boss Hoss I wonder... _Something something_ Modding Community _Something something_
O mg its the Firiht studo! !!1! 11!
It's really touching how most of gamedevs fell the same way, its like something is connecting all of us, and to see all of those content creators talking about those feelings is just heartwarming, it makes me fell a misterious pleasure to do what i do,
it's just beautiful
It think it helps us feel human when others fight the same battles as us. :D
At first, I was thinking: “huh never happened to me” but the more you talked, the more it creeped in and then I was like “damn... yeah, that feeling... i know it.”
Thanks so much for sharing this, it really helps! Keep up the great work! 👌
Thanks so much! :D
Another Godot comrade here!
That brings a smile to my face
Greetings comrade, we shall conquer the game engine debate! haha
I'd like to add sometime else: try to make something unique, but keep in mind that there's nothing wrong to copy or take inspiration from an existing genre and put your own twist on it :D
You're absolutely right! I'm not saying you shouldn't copy or be inspired, but that you should make games in genres that inspire you. I know some people that hate the games they make and they only do it to make a quick buck.
@@Goodgis You're totally right!
I totally agree, working without pressure/being inspired creates the best conditions to make a game. Great video, thanks for sharing!
My pleasure! Thanks, Jonathan!
just played the game and damn I had a smile on my face so much playing it. Usually I'm pretty quite when playing games but this made me shout
Haha I'm glad you enjoyed it. That's literally the best thing for a game dev to hear! :D
Great moral for all art in general imo. Focus on what you feel or care about, don't make choices JUST because of a general audience, listening to your audience is important but don't make something you wouldn't be happy with just for an audience. Great vid
100% Agree!
This made me motivated. I’m currently working on a project in my spare time (while studying game dev at school) and the project I chose I am having a lot of fun with. I’m excited to see what I can create!
That’s awesome! Best of luck to you!
@@Goodgis thanks 😁
found you yesterday, now I can't stop watching
:D That just made my day!
Overworked with little too no work to actually show for it. Well if that doesn't sum it up perfectly I don't know anymore.
Perfect!
your content is amazing and honestly i love how you talk and tackle problems that every gamedev has at some point like tryharding scape creep ecs.
Youre great!
I appreciate that! Thanks so much!
This video made me discover your channel a while back and it's one of my favorite "gamejam-primer-watch" I like coming back to it, like today, while my head is starting to spark in anticipation for Ludum Dare next week!
I love making games, but too often I fall in that self inflicted decision paralysis because I over think it and think too "commercially" about my game making. Working in the industry does make you think a bit like that over time and slowly kills the magic you have when you're still first learning to make games. Hunting that spark back; if that's even possible!
anyways, love the channel! Keep up the inspiring work!
Thanks so much! :D
I needed this words of encouragement for so long since I had many prototypes without finishing them since I was trying hard more on what people would like to play rather than just make something I really like, I really got inspired by your work and by your experiences through out the process of you making games!!!! Thanks my dude!!!
That's awesome! :D While I do think it's important to get feedback from others, making something that you love is the most important.
AAA developers: wait... but passion over... money? no... there has to be a... THIS CANNOT BE HAPPENING
Sad but true haha
Great message, build what you love and they will come. 👍
It's the only way. :D
I'm so glad this little gem of a video appeared on my timeline when I opened up RUclips tonight. I know this is a old video and probably won't see this comment. But I'm glad I bumped into this video and the talk. I'm in my early 30's slowly learning how to gamedev myself. I chose Game Maker studio 2 for my game engine to learn to start off with something simple. I truly needed to hear this. I am definitely going to stay motivated on getting my game design off the ground. Thanks for the motivation. I do love the gamedev community here so welcoming. :)
Thanks so much! :D
I 100% second this message. I spent 11 months developing a game with two friends, a student project that started in a game jam. I just really like challenging games and platformers, difficult games like Celeste and Hollow Knight do inspire me a lot, and I just wanted to make one so much! We launched it on Steam on 30th July of last year, and we got noticed by a Polish studio that ported and published our game on the Switch. Now here we are, with our little student project on the Switch, getting much more attention than we ever dreamed of getting!
That's fantastic! What's the name of the game? I'd love to check it out!
@@Goodgis It's called Charge Kid. A couple of small channels made a few let's play videos on it so far, it's very challenging. You might find my tweets or the publisher's tweets about it too if you google it. Again, available on the eshop, steam and itch.io as well.
@@rafaelbordoni516 Dude, I just saw this advertised on Itch.io the other day. Super cool! I'll definitely have to check it out.
@@Goodgis Thank you so much! The game is also open source, so you can browse the project a bit and learn from it. It's Godot too, so I believe you won't have any trouble taking from it.
Was not expecting this level of quality in the video. Absolutely a diamond in the rough!
Thanks so much! :D
Such a heartwarming story, and a concept that I struggle to keep in mind while developing. Looking forward to more videos
Thanks so much! :D Best of luck to you.
A brilliant and encouraging little story. Congrats on the success, dude! It'd be interesting to hear how the sales went after a few more months. We hear precious little info like that about pay-what-you-want games.
That's a great idea! Thanks so much.
I've definitely fallen victim to this myself. I found that once I had a secure job that I was happy with, the pressure to release things that made money went away and now I'm able to just enjoy the process of game dev whenever time allows and I want to.
Really great production value, and love the monkey ball inspiration!
I 100% agree. I think having a job is so important while trying to launch your game dev career. The stress of having to make money just chokes any sort of creativity or fun out of the process. Also thanks so much! :D
so, before your name was "Tryler Harddad"? ... ill show myself out..
@@Menta_ LOL that's a new one I haven't heard before
This video showed up in my recommend feed the moment I started thinking try hardy on my project. Thanks!
Glad I could help! :D
This is amazing, I'm just freshly starting out on my journey and definetely thought about taking shortcuts yesterday. As in make it so it takes less time to create and publish fast. But I can just take my time polishing it instead. By the way this game looks amazing. Goodjob making at making this
Thanks so much and thanks for sharing! :D
All needed to hear and see to keep following the path of game dev!
WHERE HAS THIS VIDEO BEEN ALL MY LIFE?!?!? I totally needed this in my life. I kept on thinking way too big, just to never finish it in the first place. Thank you. Really.
Hey man, I glad it helped! :D
@@Goodgis It did! Now imma keep this in mind when I'm making my games! 😉
I'm happy for your success with the game it must be such a good feeling to have other people enjoy something you create.
Thanks, I want to create a community that supports each other. Heck, I wanna play your games! :D
Congrats on the success dude!
Thanks so much, I appreciate it!
That's the video I needed!
Thank you💚
Glad to hear it! :D
Thank you so much, I've been stuck with a project I love for months now because I've been afraid it wouldn't be successful, this video helped me a lot
Happy to hear it!
Congrats man your story is very inspiring
I appreciate that! :D
This video was certainly very useful and inspiring. Thanks!
Thanks, glad it was helpful! :D
love how you made a game from inspiration and had happy reviews. Have a good day
Thanks so much!
Very accurate. Chasing trends or the idea of "success", rather than self expression, is likely to be a road to failure.
You won't have the creativity to create a good game
You won't have the determination to finish it
Heck yeah, I couldn't have said it better myself!
this is a really great advice. I decide follow my dream of becoming a indie dev after the pandemic, it's not an easy task, everything is on hold, job, releationships... but follow this dream is helping a lot!
Go for it! You can do it. :D
Congrats on your game! 👏👏👏
Thanks so much! :D
Damn real talk your channel is therapeutic as it is informative thanks for this content looking forward to more
My pleasure! Thanks for supporting the channel. :D
I like really complex games and I like designing complex games. I was worried people would hate my games because of that. It's really reassuring to watch this video.
Thanks.
No problem! Make what you love! :D
Lol been binge watching your videos cuz you are soo inspirational and every video makes me think over my decisions and in this video i learnt alot :D
Thanks so much! :D
Love your content! Always super motivating!
Thanks! :D
I'm in LOVE with how the 4 character icons in the character select ended up looking. They are so accurate in their N64 style, would love to see how you made them.
Thanks so much! :D
Another awesome video :) So well produced and very entertaining/interesting.
Thanks so much! :D
I always believe that you should make a game you will enjoy playing. If you like it, chances are, other will enjoy it too.
I completely agree!
this video has given me so much inspiration, I really wish I could work on the game I'm developing right now but the best I can do is pixel art for it since I am visiting some of my family right now and don't have access to the computer with my game projects, but *anyways I wish that every programmer, artist, story writer and every other game developer has a good day, and hope that your games get played a lot :)
Thanks so much! I know that feeling haha!
Thanks for this message. I think I needed to hear it. It is scary to think about if your game will do well, I keep trying to put the pieces together and see what I am doing wrong. But thanks for this message, I will focus on my game because game development makes me happy.
You got this! :D
cool video, really interesting content you're uploading, commenting to boost in the algorithm because honestly channels like yours need more exposure. you got my sub man
Thanks so much! You hit me in the feels. :D Cheers!
You can see the Authenticity in your game. It’s well done and very appealing to the eye.
Thanks so much! :D
Everytime you post help everyone watching, thank you mr gis :D
Happy to help! :D
When Will there be another devlog of Dewdrop?
Probably in February, I haven't had the chance to work on it over the holidays.
_omg you got 6.66k subscribers be careful!!!!!!!!!!!1!11!1_
but with quality content like this I thought you would have at least 66.6k before checking, great video! Thanks for the advices, gonna try this game out now :)
Too spooky for me! Thanks so much. :D
Bro your video helped me a lot with my game dev life thanks a lot bro.
Glad to hear that! :D
Very well said, it's so important to make a game that you love and would want to play yourself. Thats what game dev is all about!
Heck yeah!
That's so awesome! The game looks great
Thanks! :D
i guess you will never see how cool "UNITY'S PARTICLE SYSTEM" is
Nah, I've used Unity's particle system. Dani, the milk man, LIES! haha Godot has a fantastic particle system AND my game doesn't crash every 5 seconds! :D
@@Goodgis you know nothing my friend, you know nothing

Thanks for watching! :D
P.D: love your videos, and that Snowman is really charming.

So glad! :D
@@Goodgis :) :)
This is awesome man. I think a lot of people don't respect this topic in game dev and it's nice to see you touch up on it. Also glad to see you try out Godot 3D! I'm thinking of trying this out myself. I've never made a 3D game before and I've been wanting to try it out for a while now. I poked around in unity but I think I've been spoiled by Godot too much cause I hated my short experience with unity lol.
Yeah, Unity is rough to use. Godot has just been a wonderful experience all around. :D
Great tips, Just loved the video
So glad! :D
Super relatable! Well-told and great game!
Hey, thanks! :D
Your games always look so good
Thanks so much! :D
if you enjoy making the game and put love in it, the community will love it aswell
Heck yeah!
Thank you so much, This inspired me a lot before I start doing my game.
That's awesome! Go for it!
After seeing a lot of indie developers on RUclips push things like marketing and getting your game to a wide audience, it's refreshing to see someone make a game straight from their heart with no obsession over what others would think and (hopefully) no extreme crunch.
Congratulations 👏👏👏
Thank you so much! :D
Just the vid I needed, thanks :)
Glad to hear it! :D
I loved this vídeo and I hope this channel blow up
Thanks so much! :D
Well said...and great point!!
Thanks!
Fantastic stuff. I couldn't agree with you more.
That game looks like it's got a fun retro vibe and I'm not surprised people started buying it.
Thanks so much!
I love how the game looks! How did you achieve that pixelated retro look?
Upscaling, billboards, and low res textures. :D Thanks!
This is so inspiring!
Thanks so much!
Hey bro, This is amazing! I really love game developing and I remember about a year ago I spent months trying to learn Unity and C#. I then took a break for a while, took to blender and completely forgot how to do anything in unity lol. I have been watching all of your videos (literally) and they are really helpful and entertaining :) Before I get properly back into game development I might look into Godot because your video on Godot vs Unity really changed my mind so I guess I'll see! Also when will the next Firith game jam be? I might participate 🤞Anyway have a good day, your really underrated, and Stay epic!
Thanks so much, the next one will start around summertime!
awesome video!

Only a couple people were. :D
This was helpful! I don't know if I want to start making games with unity but If I decide to I want to make a game calle "Super Not Ok Dave 17 Deluxe Ultimate vitamin b deficiency edition!" It will be a big game so I may want to start with small mobile games! If I decide to make games I definitely want to make super not ok Dave because it was going to be a joke game but now I think it will be a little more serious!
haha, I love it!
With some of your transitions in the video I thought my screen brightness was going down lol
Haha, I love it!
I didnt the first time it happened haha
I agree... I should start implementing this...
Heck yeah! :D
@@Goodgis :) already did and have freaking launched a game on PlayStore because of you, thanks a lot!!
This video I guess resonates with me because Im just wrapping up learning Godot and Im sorta in a limbo of what kind of game I should make that is popular and trendy (For example my friends telling me to make a class based shooter.) but this video sorta told me that no, I dont need to "Try Hard" to make a game that in the end I dont enjoy and that I dont want to play and instead make a game that I want to make and play. (Like my monster collection game Ive been planning.)
Hey, make the game you want to play then try to add some popular elements to find a middle ground!
The lesson on this video is pretty good, and it doesn’t just apply to coding. Trust me, I know that from experience.
Wow, this game is good! the silliness of just hitting a present combined with the fast pace of the game makes for some light hearted fun.
It would be pretty cool if you could make it open source. I would love to make custom levels with this.
Great to hear! Maybe that's something we could look into in the future.
It's just so dang good!
:D
