yesss celeste is SUCH a good game, i've been obsessed since i first played it. definitely hard but very satisfying and especially fun to speedrun. farewell took me around 3300 deaths, but that's nothing compared to my 70k for the entire file after going for almost every golden berry. i will NEVER golden farewell though, im keeping what little sanity i have left haha all in all, very nice editing and video! it's engaging, detailed, and well put together, keep it up!
The quality of this video is just fantastic. I recently played celeste for the first time while attempting to tackle my massive backlog and it's one of the few games I would call a masterpiece. I have yet to beat celeste so I only watched this video up until there were spoilers, but I’ll definitely be back to finish it once I’m done.

Celeste is my actual favourite of all time game. I’ll never shut up about it, and I recommend the game to everyone I meet who plays video games. Rarely do they play it, but it’s something they’re missing out on, not me. I can happily say this game saved me during my exam season recently. In between study breaks and exams, I’d play the game again, eventually to the point where the save file I was on acquired 201/202 berries. Just recently over my break I got that beautiful 202nd berry, and I’ll never forget the absolute shock I had when the golden on farewell had a secret room. To anyone unsure about playing Celeste after watching this video, I, and many other commenters would agree to try it out

My first time playing farewell took me 9000 deaths and 50 hours. It was VERY worth it. Such an amazing game that I think may be responsible for reprogramming my brain (In a good way!) it hit me so hard.

In the first part of the video, you say that one level in Farewell is the only place you need to fall faster, but you actually don't even need you use it there. It is entirely possible to do it without. I know this since the first time I did that level, I did it without holding down, and not realizing it might help to do so.
The sheer time, dedication and passion is so visible in this video essay. You definitely deserve more than 1.36k subscribers. I really love this style of editing. It highlights the beauty and fun of the game. The commentary is really insightful and makes me understand why so many people love this game. (Masochism???)This actually convinced me to get the game for Christmas. (Despite the fact that the videos of it scare me.)

I can't believe how well the gameplay and narrative work with each other in such a simple game. So many times I got stuck and would die over and over again. It though I couldn't do it, I reached my limit, I want to give up and never try again. Then I will calm down, clear my mind, tell myself I can do it and give it my best. And every time I felt this way I was thinking about Madeline and how she feels exactly the same and had the same exact thoughts.
Just so you know, you can speed up the death animation by hitting whatever your menu confirm button is during it. You can also speed up bubbles by hitting the dash button right after you enter them.

Farewell took me around 3,600 deaths to complete haha but after 100%ing the game twice and playing loads of mods I can confidentially say Celeste is my favorite platformer ever made. Great video by the way

I don't have my original first savefile anymore as I've deleted it into oblivion when I was mad with power and decided to cheat in every golden berry in the game, safe for 1A, 2A and 2C because I already had them legit. I do remember Farewell taking me around 9 hours on my first playthrough that I divided into 2 days of work. I'm pretty sure I died maybe over 2500 times, bleeding into the 2800s when getting the moon berry. Nowadays though? I started all over again from scratch on my PC instead of my Nintendo Switch this time, got everything for the second first time over 3 times faster than I did on the first first time, and got 201 berries legit, while now working on my 202nd, the dreaded Farewell Golden. If anyone is curious where I'm at in this challenge: I have a lowest death record of 5, and I managed to get all the way to the 3rd room of the Stubbornness sub-chapter without dying starting from the start of the level. UNFORTUNATELY, while also checking my discord and pressing Alt + Tab which indirectly caused my downfall. See, there's a debug mode that you can enter messing with the files of the game which allows you to do things like teleport around the level. On that very run which made it to Stubbornness, I accidentally pressed TAB, which enabled the view that allows you to teleport around. The thing is? This instantly invalidates a golden berry attempt and the games removes the one you currently have immediately. So long story short, me being dumb got a good FWG that legit could've made it to the end and gave it the dumbest end of all time. Anyway, thanks for listening to my TED talk, how was your day?
That failed attempt sounds absolutely horible. I know the feeling, I once died to a lag spike in the 14th room of reconciliation, and that was the first time i made it back to RC in like 30 hours. But if you've managed to get this far, you can get it done for sure, it's only a matter of grinding until you get the run. Just, please practice the parts post DT a lot, nervosity can so easily get you and dying at the end really sucks. I've had a death to the big Farewell room and 3 deaths to recon, and I really son't want anyone to have to go through that.

this is probably the perfect celeste video. crazy it came out 4 days ago. it doesn't just explain the game, it really only shares your experience, and is what i look for on youtube just after beating a game lmao. i would just include a spoiler warning on the start, even if celeste isn't THAT spoiler heavy. my original save i had in the middle of farewell had 22062 deaths and 90 hours of play. i then proceeded to delete it on accident, and replay everything + complete farewell in 5220 deaths and 20 hours of play btw the screenshot i had of the original one had 178 strawberries. i could probably pinpoint exactly where i was but idk. the farewell completed one had 181 when i took the screenshot

after completing all the content in the game the mods are a great way to continue the experience! many of them create new custom mechanics and many of them take the core mechanics and introduce all new tech that makes movement so much more fun (and agonizing). some of them even have great stories
So after watching (and loving) your Outer Wilds videos and seeing how naturally you seem to sequence break games, i highly HIGHLY recommend you do the Subnautica experience (the original one, not the sequel). It's a game very similar to OW in the sense that there is a hidden story you uncover piece by piece, and while there is some gating due to how deep vehicles can go (it's a water planet) there are still quite a few possibilities for experiencing the story out of order and I think you'd have a blast
Fun fact about the crouch dash button, that's a very new thing! It was only added in the last update to make "Demodashing" easier for players not already using macros!
I'd tell you how many deaths Farewell took me but I actually had seen videos about it before and decided to complete B/C sides beforehand, so Im still at 6B, but I'll (hopefully) remember to tell you how many deaths it took when I (HOPEFULLY) complete it

I think when I beat farewell after none hours that was the best I've ever felt playing a platformer, it was so incredibly paced that I didn't want to find a place to stop. Pushing for moon berry now and after that all there is left is core C side
Farewell took me 5,300 deaths and 12 hours of gameplay, and that’s after I did *everything* else in the game immediately after it was unlocked (I did all the B sides I could during the main story.) So, I’d say it’s quite impressive you only had ~2,500 deaths on it

I quited the game 4 times: after chapter 3, after wall of hearts in chapter 8, after wall of hearts in chapter 9 (Yes, stright into 9, pain without end), and after 8-B - but in the end, I spend 8 hours of my life watching death animation, and ended Farewell in 3000 deaths
I had 1.2k deaths at the end of farewell when I got the moonberry. I didn't skip the b and c sides tho. Some reviews absolutely hate on farewells difficulty, but I loved it so much, I went in again and did the whole level twice. I was amazed by how little deaths I had on my second run through (though still nothing to sneeze at and in the higher hundreds) it proves the point I use to make the game feel less scary to the new players I introduce to the game: you're constantly improving, with every death you get better. I don't know if I will ever go for golden berries seriously (because 1a, 2a and 2c + dashless 1a are enough for.me to feel accomplished) but I do know that I could overcome the challenge set up by them. Because you're constantly getting better with every single death.
My first playthrough of farewell took me 3237 deaths, which has risen to over 4k with golden attempts and recompletions. Farewell was an amazing journey in of itself, not including the rest of the content in the game. Farewell proudly takes more than a quarter of my main file deaths.
Meanwhile I have over 15k deaths with only 3 c sides 2 golden berries and Farewell not completed. And yet it was still my best gaming experience ever (and it's not over yet)
Oh boy... I completed this game a few years ago, and I can't really remember how many deaths I got in Farewell, but through the whole playthrough it was 13.5k. I did all the B and C sides, maybe strawberries, before Farewell was released.

I did farewell in 5k attempts but that might be only because I watched a speedrun and learned how to skip the big crystal heart wall thing, and I skipped it without actually doing b-sides and c-sides 😐 Looking back, that might have really eased the completion, but I regret nothing :)
If you love Celeste enough to 100% it like I did, you should totally look at Celeste mods, some of the community projects are insane ! Currently making my way through the 2020 Celeste Spring Community Collab and is such an amazing mod
Farewell took me around 5k deaths, made the same mistake of playing the first half before the b-sides. After that i then went for the golden berries. this shot my farewell death count up to 12K and almost 300 hours of grinding for everything. This game is Incredible.
Thanks for such an extraordinary review for my favorite video game. I know Celeste quite well, having 100% completed it on PC and console twice each, as well as speedrunning it several times. The importance it has for me only increases from there though, as it is what inspired me to come out to my family as transgender. Finally made it to farewell and beat it in the span of the last month, and finished 8c shortly after. Took me like 3 separate occasions of starting and stopping the playthough, a whole year of playing with long pauses inbetween, but I made it! 15213 deaths, 3k of which are on summit a-b-c, 4323 on farewell and precisely 666 on 3B (and I wonder why Celestial resort is my least favourite part of the playthough, lol). I'm kinda bad at this game, but I enjoyed it a ton. Got 3 goldens and probably not gonna go for more, but who knows!
I pirated the game back in late 2020 and my death count after A, B and C sides and Farewell was 21k. I then bought the game on steam April 2022 and my death count was way lower, and I think it speaks too well of the game design and how it teaches you; I became better at playing overtime, so much so that in rooms where I would die more than 50 times, I only do 10 or so now; this game is a masterpiece, and even calling it a game falls short, it's an experience

You have almost exactly 1,000 less deaths than me in total. Dang it. (Farewell took me 2,745 deaths to beat, so about 250 more than you, those 250 deaths probably solely came from me trying to wrap my head around the wavedash in the room that it teaches it to you, unlike you, I had no clue that move existed until that level)

It's a game very similar to OW in the sense that there is a hidden story you uncover piece by piece, and while there is some gating due to how deep vehicles can go (it's a water planet) there are still quite a few possibilities for experiencing the story out of order and I think you'd have a blast

Fun fact about the crouch dash button, that's a very new thing! It was only added in the last update to make "Demodashing" easier for players not already using macros!

I'd tell you how many deaths Farewell took me but I actually had seen videos about it before and decided to complete B/C sides beforehand, so Im still at 6B, but I'll (hopefully) remember to tell you how many deaths it took when I (HOPEFULLY) complete it

I think when I beat farewell after none hours that was the best I've ever felt playing a platformer, it was so incredibly paced that I didn't want to find a place to stop. Pushing for moon berry now and after that all there is left is core C side

Farewell took me 5,300 deaths and 12 hours of gameplay, and that’s after I did *everything* else in the game immediately after it was unlocked (I did all the B sides I could during the main story.) So, I’d say it’s quite impressive you only had ~2,500 deaths on it

I quited the game 4 times: after chapter 3, after wall of hearts in chapter 8, after wall of hearts in chapter 9 (Yes, stright into 9, pain without end), and after 8-B - but in the end, I spend 8 hours of my life watching death animation, and ended Farewell in 3000 deaths

I had 1.2k deaths at the end of farewell when I got the moonberry. I didn't skip the b and c sides tho. Some reviews absolutely hate on farewells difficulty, but I loved it so much, I went in again and did the whole level twice. I was amazed by how little deaths I had on my second run through (though still nothing to sneeze at and in the higher hundreds) it proves the point I use to make the game feel less scary to the new players I introduce to the game: you're constantly improving, with every death you get better.
I don't know if I will ever go for golden berries seriously (because 1a, 2a and 2c + dashless 1a are enough for.me to feel accomplished) but I do know that I could overcome the challenge set up by them. Because you're constantly getting better with every single death.
5:50 small note - pressing any button when you're dead significantly speeds up the respawn time. Just thought that was a neat feature

My first playthrough of farewell took me 3237 deaths, which has risen to over 4k with golden attempts and recompletions.
Farewell was an amazing journey in of itself, not including the rest of the content in the game. Farewell proudly takes more than a quarter of my main file deaths.
8000+ deaths no c-sides and almost done with farewell
Meanwhile I have over 15k deaths with only 3 c sides 2 golden berries and Farewell not completed. And yet it was still my best gaming experience ever (and it's not over yet)
The way dashes work is by increasing your speed and going in a certain direction so that’s why wave dashing works
it doesn't cap your speed when you dash diagonally down*. that's how wave dashes, hyper dashes, and ultras work
Farewell took me 1800~ deaths, and going back for the moon berry added 200~ more.
Oh boy... I completed this game a few years ago, and I can't really remember how many deaths I got in Farewell, but through the whole playthrough it was 13.5k. I did all the B and C sides, maybe strawberries, before Farewell was released.
I'm still m8les away from fully completing the game. Though I'm having a blast every time I decide to come back and play

My first playthrough of farewell had over 8000 deaths, more than in your entire playthrough. On my last run it was only 699! Can't wait to golden someday!

I did farewell in 5k attempts but that might be only because I watched a speedrun and learned how to skip the big crystal heart wall thing, and I skipped it without actually doing b-sides and c-sides 😐
Looking back, that might have really eased the completion, but I regret nothing :)

It took me over 8,000 deaths to first beat farewell. The final screen hurt me on my first attempt. I've since beaten it in as few as 92 deaths.

In the hotel level you can actually just stand on the tentacle thingys and not die as long as you stay still :)

Farewell took me around 5k deaths, made the same mistake of playing the first half before the b-sides. After that i then went for the golden berries. this shot my farewell death count up to 12K and almost 300 hours of grinding for everything. This game is Incredible.
Honestly i'm doing pretty well, I'm at chapter 8B with only 26k deaths, 100h in, but i have faith i'll get to farewell one day
Thanks for such an extraordinary review for my favorite video game. I know Celeste quite well, having 100% completed it on PC and console twice each, as well as speedrunning it several times.
The importance it has for me only increases from there though, as it is what inspired me to come out to my family as transgender. So, I truly do mean it when I say thank you for making this video in such a perfect way.

Finally made it to farewell and beat it in the span of the last month, and finished 8c shortly after. Took me like 3 separate occasions of starting and stopping the playthough, a whole year of playing with long pauses inbetween, but I made it!
15213 deaths, 3k of which are on summit a-b-c, 4323 on farewell and precisely 666 on 3B (and I wonder why Celestial resort is my least favourite part of the playthough, lol). I'm kinda bad at this game, but I enjoyed it a ton. Got 3 goldens and probably not gonna go for more, but who knows!
I pirated the game back in late 2020 and my death count after A, B and C sides and Farewell was 21k. I then bought the game on steam April 2022 and my death count was way lower, and I think it speaks too well of the game design and how it teaches you; I became better at playing overtime, so much so that in rooms where I would die more than 50 times, I only do 10 or so now; this game is a masterpiece, and even calling it a game falls short, it's an experience

You have almost exactly 1,000 less deaths than me in total. Dang it. (Farewell took me 2,745 deaths to beat, so about 250 more than you, those 250 deaths probably solely came from me trying to wrap my head around the wavedash in the room that it teaches it to you, unlike you, I had no clue that move existed until that level)
