well the Ravager rework is probably multiple years away still, and if nothing else the next update already adds 2 bosses to this route, since all of calamity fishing is being butchered

You can get the Alchemy Table without killing Skeletron. Steps: Mine *around* the dungeon, sticking close too it until you see an alchemy table, either hoik, or mine into the dungeon (you can break deep bricks with 100% pick power), quickly grab the alchemy table before the guardian reaches you. This might take a few attempts if you get unlucky with the guardian spawns. Tip: You can abuse cheaper potion costs and shimmer to make infinite potions+ingredients and selling some of the more expensive ingredients for infinite money. 12:40 - Ooooo another Aether Monolith user.
I didn’t want to use exploits in this as I wanted it to be as legit as possible, so getting dungeon gear pre-skeletron felt a little too cheesy for this. Also, the shimmer potion thing is a bug introduced by Tmodloader, I’d advise against using it as it’s definitely not an intended mechanic
You could also potentially be able to fish for the alchemy table in an artificially created dungeon? You should be able to mine dungeon blocks with anything above molten pickaxe and craft them into walls, which can be shimmered into unsafe ones.
Ok, so upon further testing you cannot craft anything dungeon related (walls included) without killing Skeletron, at least in Vanilla. I am hoping tmodloader has missed the memo and hasn't patched it out but if it has, then that's out of the window too. Fishing also doesn't seem to give lockboxes pre-skeletron, even if you're standing in front of dungeon walls underground (on the edge of summoning guardians, basically)

I even wanted to make my first proper video about this because nobofy did this before. And here it is! So fun to watch, especially since some parts of the execution turned out way harder or way easier than I thought (for example, Eidolists seemed impossible to farm because of breathing issues). WoF > Ravager & Cultist > Dragonfolly > Yharon > DoG > Exos & SCal (Fight CalClone whenever.) Also, a different 7/9 (Exos/SCal) route is possible even without Ravager. WoF > Cryogen & LC > ML > CalClone & DoG > Yharon > Exos & SCal. If it were possible to mine Auric Ore without Hardmode fishing or a Blossom pickaxe, we could kill SCal pre-HM AND pre-ML, but it seems to be one or the other.
I got so excited at 38:40, when the music started playing, and I was like "YESSS, FEELS LIKE A FIRST TRY!" and then less than 2 seconds later, saw you face tank lasers and went to 1/4 health, then died, and the music got louder 🤣🤣. Fantastic vid! Great job!

The last phase of Yharon is just brutal, but there is nothing quite as satisfying as conquering the challenge laid out before you and getting a boss kill easier and easier feeling real progression in yourself. Felt it the first time when I farmed Duke Fishron in vanilla not dropping a certain item for me, I just got better and better at handling him, something about those kinds of bosses, Yharon too, fascinates me more then overcoming bullet hell from calamitas and DoG. I really hope the next boss calimity introduces is another brutal chaser like Yharon, I just love these kind of bosses. Loved the vid, cool journey.

personally, calamitas and exo mechs should not be considered "bosses" not just because *technically* they're considered "super bosses", but also because even with fully prepared equipment and proper progression, they are blatantly unfair to fight against
All of the points currently in this reply chain are wrong, which I find funny. 1. SCal and Exos are not superbosses. They are both final bosses. Although SCal used to be a superboss, that is no longer the case, and Exos were never a superboss. 2. They are not "blatantly unfair to fight against," difficulty is just subjective. 3. Primordial Wyrm (Jared) isn't even a superboss either. Jared is a "secret boss," and isn't even considered to be a true boss.
Only after killing the second final boss do you get the Cynosure item, in which Yarhim tells you that you have surpassed all obstacles and are ready to battle him. In fact, this item signals the end of the game at this point. So, I believe you've done the right thing 😉
Hey, for future reference, you can actually shimmer cactus to make pumpkin, bit easier that fishing up fishes and decapitating them in the hope of finding some pumpkin in them

It doesn't prove they're great mechanics, it just proves there's an in-game alternative. Let's say there's two ways to grind an item: one is to fight a specific boss until it drops and the other is to wait 24h while doing absolutely nothing else. Here, the easiest is technically waiting, but it's obviously not a good mechanic

I've played Calamity all of once, years ago and I still felt like I could follow everything you were doing. Great video, cool challenge, good editing, and fantastic personality. Keep it up, as long as you want to.
Half of post-ML bosses covered have a glaring weakness to magic conches (shoutout to Ares' spin attack for having a hardcoded resistance to ONE teleport but succumbing to simply doing it again), which allows to hilariously do them with the Last Prism or even the Star Cannon (infamous early hardmode Jared kill), making the preparation and actual fights far easier. Same goes for Ravager last time I checked, and sort of Yharon, but that one backfires more often than not and requires more elaborate cheese. Of course, that wouldn't make for nearly as dramatic of a challenge video. Still, it's amusing just how much of Calamity is utterly destroyed by a single item. Most of this route could be done with very little skill involved simply by including the magic conch.
well actively cheesing bosses in a challenge run centered around bosses, kind of takes away the challenge part of the run, though i do get waht you mean, but laso Random teleportation potions cheese pretty much every boss with infinite Aggro range.
@b0ne_r3aper78 random teleportation potions come with a lot of unpredictability and a chance to screw you over nonetheless. Magic conch allows for very consistent setups, as well as having a very straight path between the two teleportation points, allowing for star cannon shenanigans
The patience and determination to go through 171 attempts on the DoG while having to manually farm for every potion is something I don't even think I could do. I need to play without alchemist npc lite for my next no-hit-only calamity infernum run. Make each fight that much more important and give some time to think in between rather than spamming fights while tilted

I mean that I can get mythril/orichalcum later in progression, but not with what I had at that point. I needed to beat moon lord first to get access to luminite or scoria ore to shimmer down
Oh hell yeah, I mapped this out years ago back when things were super different (back when calamity was still on version 1.3 of terraria). Cool to see someone actually do the run! Back when I routed it though adult eidolon wyrm dropped ectoplasm which made for some truly horrid routing.
I actually tried this challenge a while ago! A friend challenged me to complete it under 10 bosses, managed to get to the Devourer before giving up though. Major props for completing this challenge!
First of all nice video. It is kinda funny that you say "This took forever to farm." But then also "I don't use QoL mods like other content creators." Those might be related lol.
One thing I will never get used to is Logan not using the vein miner mod or what ever it's called, like I can understand maybe wanting to not use it for everything to keep like the feel of mining, but not even for the luminite planetoids?
While I do think this is extremely impressive, isn't the point of a low% run to use any glitches necessary to complete the game in as little completion% as possible? So why not just fish up the hard mode ores or use a hoik? It doesn't make it any less legitimate, I mean Ocarina of Time low% literally just skips straight to the final boss with glitches so why should you limit yourself? Anyway good video
I guess there’s two categories of low%, glitchless and non-glitchless. I chose to do the former as it seemed a more fun challenge. If you allow glitches then you could also just skip to the final two bosses using transmutation

The moment a player realises that they have to get good is the best awakening to every game ever, its where you find out your potential and how it can grow even more without needing any more powerful items but you the player just having to need to get good
just for future reference, moonlord attacked are negated when you've taken out an eye in the hand and stay in the hand, due to i-frames i believe, which would've made this a lot easier
Learning to no hit lunatic cultist and golem made them SO much harder, When I started my own personal challenge they took me longer than learning bosses that I had previously struggled with like provinince or yharon Your struggles seemed super similar but with weaker gear

a very fun run to work through on stream aside form the few very VERY grindiy spots
ChiefLogan did very well against DoG, I burned over 160 attempts doing the same run and gave up.

No, no, I'm pretty sure Kacil means throwing an Overloaded Sludge into King Slime during a Slime Rain. You can actually do that whenever once you kill a few Blighted Slimes.

It doesn't prove they're great mechanics, it just proves there's an in-game alternative. Let's say there's two ways to grind an item: one is to fight a specific boss until it drops and the other is to wait 24h while doing absolutely nothing else. Here, the easiest is technically waiting, but it's obviously not a good mechanic

I've played Calamity all of once, years ago and I still felt like I could follow everything you were doing. Great video, cool challenge, good editing, and fantastic personality. Keep it up, as long as you want to.

Half of post-ML bosses covered have a glaring weakness to magic conches (shoutout to Ares' spin attack for having a hardcoded resistance to ONE teleport but succumbing to simply doing it again), which allows to hilariously do them with the Last Prism or even the Star Cannon (infamous early hardmode Jared kill), making the preparation and actual fights far easier. Same goes for Ravager last time I checked, and sort of Yharon, but that one backfires more often than not and requires more elaborate cheese.
Of course, that wouldn't make for nearly as dramatic of a challenge video. Still, it's amusing just how much of Calamity is utterly destroyed by a single item. Most of this route could be done with very little skill involved simply by including the magic conch.
well actively cheesing bosses in a challenge run centered around bosses, kind of takes away the challenge part of the run, though i do get waht you mean, but laso Random teleportation potions cheese pretty much every boss with infinite Aggro range.
@b0ne_r3aper78 random teleportation potions come with a lot of unpredictability and a chance to screw you over nonetheless. Magic conch allows for very consistent setups, as well as having a very straight path between the two teleportation points, allowing for star cannon shenanigans
The patience and determination to go through 171 attempts on the DoG while having to manually farm for every potion is something I don't even think I could do. I need to play without alchemist npc lite for my next no-hit-only calamity infernum run. Make each fight that much more important and give some time to think in between rather than spamming fights while tilted

Nah tbh most of my accessories were on-tier, a few older ones for sure but this was mainly just me reaching my current skill ceiling

I mean that I can get mythril/orichalcum later in progression, but not with what I had at that point. I needed to beat moon lord first to get access to luminite or scoria ore to shimmer down

as a calamity speedrun enjoyer myself this is yet another great way of making calamity into more suffering than it usually is very good work
Oh hell yeah, I mapped this out years ago back when things were super different (back when calamity was still on version 1.3 of terraria). Cool to see someone actually do the run! Back when I routed it though adult eidolon wyrm dropped ectoplasm which made for some truly horrid routing.
Oh god that sounds awful, shimmer really made this run possible for me so doing it on 1.3 was out of the question lol

I actually tried this challenge a while ago! A friend challenged me to complete it under 10 bosses, managed to get to the Devourer before giving up though. Major props for completing this challenge!
Now king slime won't stand a chance!

qol mods sometimes include slight progression skips so imho they shouldn't be allowed for these kinds of playthroughs

One thing I will never get used to is Logan not using the vein miner mod or what ever it's called, like I can understand maybe wanting to not use it for everything to keep like the feel of mining, but not even for the luminite planetoids?

While I do think this is extremely impressive, isn't the point of a low% run to use any glitches necessary to complete the game in as little completion% as possible? So why not just fish up the hard mode ores or use a hoik? It doesn't make it any less legitimate, I mean Ocarina of Time low% literally just skips straight to the final boss with glitches so why should you limit yourself? Anyway good video
I guess there’s two categories of low%, glitchless and non-glitchless. I chose to do the former as it seemed a more fun challenge. If you allow glitches then you could also just skip to the final two bosses using transmutation

just for future reference, moonlord attacked are negated when you've taken out an eye in the hand and stay in the hand, due to i-frames i believe, which would've made this a lot easier
