India needs to focus on manufacturing, because we have large unskilled labour. Education is not that necessary, skill is important. We already have huge population with graduation degree but lack skills. With more manufacturing, focus will shift to labour skill development, which will support rapid economic growth.
China and India aren't really reversing roles, yes China is slowing, but it will still remain as the largest asian economy for a while. India is growing very fast, but it will still take time for it to catch up with China. Peter zeihan predictions are more fantasy than reality.

Weird how Democratic India was more socialist than communist China, India really missed the train of Industrialization, even to this day getting land for factories and managing more than 99 people invites all sort of bureaucracy that it discourages people from setting up shop.
India was never socialist, they only had social democracy (or a mixed model). China is still socialist.
Democracy is merely about how representatives are chosen. There is nothing about democracy - or even the US Constitution - that defines the economic system it is paired with.
Also, communism and socialism are not the same.
India went through first wave of industrialization in 1970’s when steel, petrochemical, fertiliser plants and other heavy industries were setup in mass rate but the population skyrocketed from 1960’s to 1990’s we went from 300 million to 900 million population within 30 years

You are confusing governance and economic models.
The Indians did a lot of self sufficiency for a long time. This was bad AND good. It meant that they wouldn't get picked apart, but it also meant that innivation lacked. They're late to the game on trade and were overly regulated, which was stifling. Now, however, they have a population of 300 million, tech savvy youth under the age of 25. The growth there will be slow, but steady, which is better for the health of the society.

I think as a country India might catch up to China (as its population rise and China decline) but as average personal income it will not. Sort of like what people thought of China vs USA in the last few decades.
Indians can't do what East Asians did but the populations are still declining in India. India and China are fundamentally different. The worst part is that India has an absurd level of corruption, an awful amount of protectionism and is mostly anti-business.
According to some historians who have come up with some estimates for GDP of nations or empires the Indians had the largest economy for the last 2500 years of 3000 years but per capita income was never really high. I don't have any idea if this actually true.

Technically Chinese perception of India is old colonial perception not the modern state. The old colonial perception came from translation of British works which showed balantly racist opinion of Indians, depicting them as a fallen race or fallen land
of western slaves. But India has long since almost completely de colonized, especially with Modi and BJP, and Its a very different country since the time of British Raj, if China wants to engage with modern India, it will have to update its persotive by at least 100 years

For now, India is no where close to China. Even with China's weak growth percentage, the moeny it adds to it's gdp is higher than India. Unless India gets a very high growth rate, touching China is not possible.
As for the population, time can only tell if have 1.8 billion people in the age of AI and robotic will be more helpful or hurtful.

There is a reason why US and western eupore consume so much more than the rest of the world even though they have low percentage of population compared to the rest of the world. Consumption relys more on the wealthy of the people rather then just the number of people. Billions of people living in poverty will not consume more than ten thousand millionaire.
Thus, if the people have more purchasing power, they will consumer more.

That's not true. Most people have the same IQ. But in China, people pay more attention to education. Their parents will try to get their children into better schools, and the government will build schools in remote villages. This is the reason for China's success.

The Chinese exponential growth was due to speculations in the construction sector, while democracy is generally slower it's also safer when it comes to prevent huge/gigantic economic mistakes and corruption cases (and the real estate bubble was borderline corruption made).
One may argue that the 2007 US real estate bubble was also government made but I disagree, it was actually a lack of statehood and rules that enabled the banks into speculations.
So we have the 2 extremes in the 2 biggest economies causing similar problems, maybe we will learn from it and find some kind of balance to avoid committing the same mistake for a 3th time

100% agree. There is a lot less external speculation and interference within India's economy, leading to slower yet safer growth. Such is the nature of democracy. Not to discredit China's amazing rise, but I'll always be more worried by the slowly rising tsunami than the restless coastal waves.

The USA having less regulation than Europe has had and is having better growth and a MUCH bigger economy per capita. You can't judge an economic system by the worst mistake it had in the last 70 years.
And going back further, the USA had an even more open economy and was ahead of the rest of the world before WW2. The biggest mistake being govt interference which was the main cause of the severity of the great depression. Federal reserve policies which they have now admitted and apologized for, and other issues like excessive tarrifs.
It's just bizarre to me how people look at the richest large country by far and say that economic policies of much less successful comparable countries are better.
What we need is Democratic Socialism with Chinese-American characteristics.
India reminds me of Mexico, these countries are on the rise but their governments and historical dysfunction make me skeptical.

I guess yaah. I think Kraut made a great video on India vs China and India and Pakistan was more about society and culture which explains it much better.

Its literally this, any video from serious persons would demonstrate that the arguments here holds for many societies, but you do not see they yelling that everyday like is to china.
If you look up in google, newsletters and nowadays youtube are flodded since their existence with "tomorrow China will crumble", "the last days of chinese economy", "CPC failed", "crisis in China, its the end?", and things like that.
Chinese people in the other hand are seeing massives improvements in their lives, by PPP standards, US was passed since 2014, in 2020 China reached 0% of its population in extreme poverty, whereas US has 1% still, 96% of Chinese population are home owners, and jobs are getting more complex since this generation is starting to work later because they are graduating more, China is already the biggest producer of IP in this world, they also are leading EV, Nuclear energy, 5g and 6g, bullet trains, civil construction, naval construction, batteries, and many more.
I'm not even saying China is perfect, because it is not, far from it actually, but they do are improving by each year at large paces in many scenarios, whereas west is in the exact opposite direction, even in the demographic growth issues, west is seeing an high engagement of "not let those immigrants come anymore", but they demographics are literally tanked by this influx of people. But, instead of looking at those problems at home they are bombing countries in the other side of the world.
The difference between China and India can be explained in one word, Infrastructure. Anyone who has visited India can tell how bad the infrastructure is. That needs to be fixed before any talks about this or that.

India should not practice Western democracy. This system is not suitable for developing countries, such as India. Multi-party competition and fierce parliamentary fighting will make it impossible to implement national policies and seriously affect national development. No developing country in the world has successfully implemented Western democracy. The reason why China has been able to develop rapidly is because it rejected the Western democratic system, which enabled China to implement correct national policies. China is not a dictatorship. China's national policies are collectively planned by think tanks and are not decided by the president alone. As long as the policies are beneficial to the country, China will be able to implement them smoothly without any opposition parties standing in the way.

China's economic model that is investment-driven isn't longer suitable at this movement, as China has more college graduate workers than ever in its history who will avoid working physically exhausting jobs in the manufacturing sector.

PH). they has such an excessive population contributing nothing to this world that the human development index and institutes need to constantly press help towards them due to lack of sufficiency. excessive labour (idians), lack of work opportunities. which is why most of them constantly press themselves to be part of construction jobs in Qatar, saudi arabia and UAE. I still believe China can catch up to the US. Its just that their economy and growth are becoming matured. They only need to maintain a 4-5% growth rate annually. This whole demographic crisis is way overrated, i believe human labor in the future will be less in demand and in value due to the advent of automation and Ai. This will eat away a lot of labor intensive sectors and shrink them. The real estate crisis was due to come and i believe the chinese economy can absorb the losses. The bubble needs to be burst before it becomes too big and cripples the economy.

yeah it is a valid point but you also have to keep in mind that in India the cost of production, supplying and buying of goods is way less than 95% of world including China so it seems as a big difference in PPP but in reality its not ................. Also there is lot more we have to catch up

High top marginal tax rates do not discourage growth, this is a myth of neoliberal economics, some of the highest growth rates in the US were under comperable top marginal rates. Nordic countries STILL have comperable rates and experience plentify growth. The problem was simply the difficulty in starting buisnesses, the Nordic countries are considered the easiest countries in the world to start a buisness in both in the speed and low cost, the exact opposite of the 'permit raja'.

China demonstrated it's military might, compelling India to modernize its armed forces, which in turn enabled India to successfully counter Pakistan's misadventures in 1965 and ultimately led to the events (Liberation of Bangladesh) of 1971.
Overall, it was a win-win situation for both countries involved, in my opinion
Just in case you don’t know, Pakistan attacked us right after they got independence in 1948. So China had no role in rethink our military strategies.

India has a massive blind spot: india has proven incapable of building manufacturing, so number of jobs has remained the same in the past 20 years.

Even his last video about India, more accurately presented India's real current status. This is way too half-baked and really really bad click-bait. To the point, I seriously doubt how did this guy get so many subs with his half-assed research.
"India Rising, China Reversing?" is the title, but majority of the video is parroting same old data about China instead of focusing on new developments in India. India has limitations as a democracy but its progress is nothing short of remarkable. India started 12 years late in opening up its markets and today its GDP has already surpassed China's 2007 economy, which means India is just 15 years behind China. Just because it doesn't look like it, doesn't mean India is a failure or something.

In general it's a better strategy at analysis if you stick to facts instead of putting analysis behind your hopes and dreams. China might not become a global hegemon like the US, due to obvious great power balance, but India will never catch up. They want to do everything themselves, which turns foreign investment away.
No country can catch up without that, as this is the most efficient way of industrial growth and technology transfer. Having the largest population means nothing when ~40% is still employed in agriculture, most of them plocking the ground with sticks, selling low yield and quality produce at subsidized government prices. Then we didn't even talk about the inefficient bureaucracy, undeveloped financial sector, major environmental problems, (appearing before significant industrialization), backwards legal system, cast system being a major blockage to social mobility, state wide religious and ethnic conflicts/tensions. Badly educated, low added value workforce... Can't even list all the problems here. By the time they'd get to the level where foreign capital wants to flow into the country population decline will have already started by then which won't allow the Chinese development model to work.
