You people don't know how much India was looted during british colonial time. There was a serious study regarding this and it was found that around 45trillion dollar were looted by those thief's. Today, India has 4th largest military in the world, first nation to land successfully on south pole of the moon [Even thief britisher's are not able to launch a satelite in space poor BRITISHER's ] , when britisher's were threw out of the nation India's literacy rate was 7% but in just 7 decades, now it's 73% literacy rate in India with world's largest democracy and still India is developing nation, after thief's empire was kicked off from the India we were not able to feed our population but now India is self-sufficient[ because of green revolution in India] that even India export's it's rice to other poor countries and India is one the largest exporter of wheat, rice etc. and there are various best thing about India that today India is able to become one of the fastest growing economy in the world.

      4. Rape is almost nonexistent.

      10. India was the most powerful nation in military and riches. No other nation could outmatch it. Until this tiny island from halfway across the world conquered us and stole 55 trillion dollars from us. (We demand reparations immediately!)
      11. White western women go crazy over Indian men. We are their fetish.

Being an Indian I have a very strong feeling that whenever we talk about Indians/Indian history/Indian economy & developing programs, we always blame British & our political leadership but never blame ourselves that we are responsible for it directly. British came in power because few people wants always on the throne and allowed rest of Indian to be slaves then politicians wanted always in power and make slave again rest of Indians. Look at us in the 21st century we r still voting 🗳 in the name of caste creed and ironically those old government still wants us to vote for them.

They brain wash children to take jobs, which make their parents proud in society. Never follow your own passion. Doing your own homeworks like cleaning, cooking and repairing is a low caste activity, so it must not not be practiced. India is poor because you are not to express yourself, if it is conflicting older people and century old customs. And, you must never listen to the young ones because they always blabber in high adrenaline state, without making any sense.

it always surprises me how little India has changed culturally. When India got independence South Korea was still a 3rd world country, China was as isolated and as backwards as North Korea is today, most of the Nordic countries were still pretty poor and backwards, and Germany and Japan were devastated by war and still reeling from insane indoctrination. Nearly 80 years later and they've all catapulted themselves into first world nations and India still struggles with the caste system, large parts of the country look the same way they did a century ago, and even the more developed areas are more like Victorian Europe then a modern Asian country where you'll find rag pickers, child laborers, and people pooping in public within walking distance of modern office buildings.

Both are large countries with large populations; both are old countries with splendid cultures; both used to be affected by western invasion; both used to be very poor and have a lot of people to feed. I hope China and India can settle the territory dispute peacefully and join hands to develop together.

India was one of the wealthiest regions of the world during pre-colonial Mughal rule because the land was fertile, the population was high, and industrialization didn't exist yet. These so-called GDP estimates are based purely on its capacity for agricultural production. Doesn't anyone remember that 95% of the pre-1800 population consisted of farmers?

    • @arthas640
      @arthas640 6 дней назад

Yeah, that was a time when your economy was almost entirely dependent on agricultural output and India's was so great purely thanks to geography rather then policy or anything like that. Their economy was actually pretty inefficient really, when the British started the industrial revolution textiles were some of the first things they industrialized and in a matter of a couple decades they were able to out produce India to the point some previous textiles India had once monopolized were being produced by England in larger quantities using a handful of unskilled laborers and a couple factories while India was producing less with an army of craftsmen that needed a lifetime to train. India was if anything more advanced then England for centuries but rapidly fell behind in large part because of over reliance on agriculture and over reliance on cheap labor: as mentioned in the video why would they invest in expensive machinery when you can just hire a hundred laborers for less? China had similar problems, at one point there were Chinese filmmakers who would hire people to stand around holding lights because it was cheaper then renting an expensive opposable light stand.

Funny how I'm still seeing people solely blaming the British in some comments.
Yea, the British colonization left India in a _really_ bad shape, and they are partially responsible for this, but once India got independence and some stability, it was, responsible for its own actions.
After that point, We were responsible for how we handled our country's economy, not being puppeteered by colonists, and yet to govt. Refused to make so many reforms that most countries already realized were amazing, while we didn't push the govt. To do so. The giovt. Had to be pushed by *foreign* powers to get around to making the crucial changes. Isn't that feeling like things coming back in a circle?
Now, finally, India has managed to get on track, but even now we have seveeral problems, but we are the ones responsible for solving them, blaming our *former* colonizers will do no good now.

      3. We don’t scam people. It’s a myth.
      4. Rape is almost nonexistent.

      6. Street food is the most delicious and safest to eat in all of euroasia. (Yes Asia and Europe are the same continent.
      7. The streets in all India are very quiet and pleasant
      8. English speaking countries are jealous of our accent especially Americans. Indian English sounds identical to British English and Indians do not sound like they have a hot dog in their mouth when they're speaking it.
      9. The water from the Yamuna river is safe to drink and very tasty. 😋
      10. India was the most powerful nation in military and riches. No other nation could outmatch it. Until this tiny island from halfway across the world conquered us and stole 55 trillion dollars from us. (We demand reparations immediately!)
      11. White western women go crazy over Indian men. We are their fetish.

We didnt even have any major conflicts on our soil, or any major civil war, or have our cities flattened or anything like that.

    2. Introduction of Railways: Built an extensive railway network, facilitating transportation and trade.
    3. Educational Reforms: Established schools, colleges, and universities, promoting Western education.

    Terrible Things Gandhi Did

    2. Views on Women: Held conservative and often sexist views, advising women to endure rather than resist sexual violence.
    3. Racial Views: Made derogatory remarks about Black Africans and initially supported segregation during his time in South Africa.

    8. Corruption: Widespread corruption undermining economic development and public trust.

    10. Child Labor: Significant problem, depriving children of education and perpetuating poverty.
    11. Public Health Challenges: Issues like malnutrition, inadequate healthcare infrastructure, and high infant mortality rates.
    12. Religious Intolerance: Instances of religious violence and intolerance, particularly between Hindus and Muslims, leading to communal riots and social fragmentation.

Books burnt down, temples destroyed, people were treated as slaves. They did everything to reduce it to ashes, but what they don't know is we are like Phoenix which can rise from ashes. Some people say Brits left long back, yet India is still poor, the reason is, it is broken in all ways to such an extent that it really need lot of time to rebuild from scratch.

@@vivekvs9678 actually, you're half right. Your points 2,4, and the last one are reasons. Its not really the money the British looted from India..its the mindset that was hammered into the very first politicians by them. The first few politicians of free India were very influenced by the British. They picked up the model of exploitation directly from them.
You may not know this, but the education system of India is actually designed by the British to enslave India. While China, Korea, etc. changed their education systems, *India did not*. This is the biggest problem in our development.
Now enough blaming the British, look into ourselves. We are masochistic by nature. We've turned politicians into heroes. Political parties use freedom fighters who died 150 years ago as symbols. *This hero worship is another reason*.
Another problem is democracy. This may be controversial but hear me out. Out of the countries you mentioned, *China and Korea are both authoritarian*, while Japan has a rigid societal system that makes its society one of the most disciplined in the world. *India's democracy is not like the West.* Remember, Democracy is a western system. It's designed for western society. India was at it's best when the Gupta Kings ruled. Todays Indian "democracy" is just a fake thing that exists to fill politicians pockets. Hence I believe that a very educated person, preferably with a modern outlook, should rule India as a authoritarian for 25-30 years.
To quote the man who made Singapore, Lee Kuan Yew : *With a few exceptions, western democracy has provided no benefit to Asia.*
Remember, this is the guy who advised China when it was poor.

Let's not forget before British invaded India, India was more divided by regions and people. The Zamindari system kept people poor and only handful of people were well off. British abolished this cruel system. British didn't loot directly from common people. They looted through high taxes and kingdoms. India wasn't a very well off nation before British because Indian rulers and practices kept the people poor. The caste system and regional difference was more intense before British. Let's not blame them for making India poor. Blame Indian rulers who were doing all this before British arrives and shook hands with them after their arrival and got stabbed back.
If Indian rulers, Kings really cared about their people this won't happen in such a drastic way.
British left after giving railways, roads . Indians could have focused on industrialization but no they were so close minded and afraid of changes that they decided to live like the way they are living. In present also, Indians are very cheap to maintain hygiene and cleanliness. Countries poorer than India are still clean because poverty doesn't have to do anything with the cleanliness. I feel somewhere the religion Hinduism encourages people to litter like throwing dead bodies in the river, offerings in the river, caste system that only certain individuals are allowed to clean everyone's dirt.

@@sreenidhikrishnan8332 Sorry I approached your comment differently. You never mentioned that India was a "united country" before the british. I do believe that the British are responsible for the country India that we know today. Before the british came, India was a bunch of independent kingdoms who often fought one another. If we did not have the British, we would not have been part of a common freedom struggle. We would have not had roads and railway networks that unify us. Even today English language unifies the entire country in a way that Hindi does not. Indian railways is the only thing that looks and feels the same across the entire country. For all the bad things that they have done, if not for the British colonial period, India as we know it would not have existed. Instead each of our states would have been independent. Tamil Nadu literally means "Tamil country" why would it want to be a part of India? Similarly same logic applies to other states. None of them would have wanted to accept each other's language over them and we would never have been united by Home Minister Sardarji or the Indian Army.
Speaking of the Indian Army, did you know that our Indian Army was also built unit by unit by the British? There is a show on netflix called "Regiment Diaries" which speaks about some of the oldest units in the Army and how they came to be. I found it quite fascinating that most units were actually raised by the British.
Our schools have done a good job of brainwashing us that we were united before the British came and the British policy of "Divide and rule" is responsible for all our divisions, but for the most part we were pretty divided even before the British came. And for the first time in history all of modern India actually had something to bond over and live as one united country. Now you can see how my comment is related to your original comment. Cheers!

The army of the british raj was not an all european force. For reference , in ww2 the British Indian army was the largest all volunteer army in the world with more than 2 million soldiers. This huge colonial army was used by the British in Afghanistan , Malaysia, Middle East and Africa for their colonial adventures. You appear to be are underplaying their role in the first part of the video. I think it could have been worded better

Well white supremacy is the worldview of the world. As they say the victor writes history. And napoleon said. History is a lie agreed upon

@@riyazknightnebulous Sorry to break it to you, but the victors are the only ones left that can leave evidence behind, that's what it means. If i shoot an animal and destroy all remnants of its body, the animal can't tell anyone i murdered it and there's no body for you to learn exactly how i did it. That's why a lot of colonies that experienced genocide have almost no history left unless the killers document it themselves. Erase the language, destroy the artefacts. Done.

    S. Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam were or still are dictatorships which makes it very easy to bring in economic reforms whereas in india due to democracy every government finds it difficult to pass good but unpopular reforms.

Country, vast as India there is no chance disctatoship can thrive. You can see modi, he's one dictator.. I know I know, we are democrat country, I know that. But it's more likely dictatorship and you can clearly see it, even after having a dictator.. it's so difficult to handle so many people with so many different thought process.
