Honestly the scariest experience i've had was while playing the arma dayZ, server was almost always empty except for me an a friend, but somehow someone was following us around the world. Our encampments were being messed with, we heard vehicles park outside the buildings we were looting only for nobody to be seen, or visually exit said vehicle. Only once did we see a guy on a hill watching us, but he was gone before we got binocs out. Sometime later it turned out it was the admin fucking with us, still at that time it made the whole thing so much more amazing, and unnerving.
I remember me and a friend walking through the forest in standalone dayz. And we heard a voice, that was somewhere in-between crying and laughing. We ran but it kept playing. We heard it for like 2 hours+. We just assumed it was a bug of some audio playing randomly. Turned out after some googling, that you make those screams after eating people, from going insane. Same bro. It's funny because I thought I was the only one who did that. I have fond memories of that mainly because the Uncharted trilogy were the first video games I ever played and I remembered me and my brother refusing to pick up the controller after Uncharted pulled that shit. I actually started playing the second game before I finished the first because of that.
unicorn back it sucks how well Konami is doing financially, yet they can’t make good decisions with their main titles (like the garbage that is Metal Gear Survive)
They had absolutely no idea what to do even after P.T it was ALPHA random shit thrown in this demo with absolutely 0 planning, everyone was like "wtf kojima ??? what do we do ???" he was like "Heee dunno lol" No wonder why konami shut down the project. It does have merits to be interesting but all the fucking retards saying it is the best game ever when it wasn't even a project first are so stupid.
11:00 quick clarification: the inventor wasn’t the one that died. The inventor of the Segway, and the founder of the Segway company is a man called Dean Kamen, who is a very talented engineer, and he is still alive today. The man who died was Jimi Heseldon, who was just the guy who bought the Segway company in 2010. After his death the coroner concluded that he most likely fell because he got into difficulty when he tried to reverse the Segway to allow a guy and his dog to get past him.
One of my favorite points about horror in games was a twitter post that talked about how having a shitty weapon is way scarier than having no weapon. If you're unarmed, the game doesn't expect you to fight. You can can maybe get caught but you don't have to face whatever's threatening you. If you have a stick or a barely functional bb gun though, then at best it's there for last-ditch defense and at worst you'll actually have to kill something with it. Now survival depends on you *doing* something.
Suprised you didn't talk about Alien: Isolation. SPOILERS AHEAD The Alien adapts when it kills you in a certain way. So if it finds you under a desk, then it will know to search near desks. One time I was hiding under a desk and was previously killed in a locker, I saw the Alien walk along the row of lockers.. It was checking each one to see if I was there. It's terrifying because you never feel safe. You know if it get's you, you have a less chance of surviving and thus the game get's progressively harder to survive. A similar feature is the main offense or should I say defense because you cannot kill the Alien only scare it away, is the flamethrower. However the more you use it, the less scared it becomes. This means the while the game goes on the Alien not only is getting better at hunting you, it knows you cannot really do anything about it. Coupled with the fact that you could be right next to a safe point yet unable to reach it because it's blocking the path and knows you're in that room. Then it try's something cunning and climbs into a vent in that room. You think it's gone right? So you climb out from under the table and hit save, and think to yourself hurry up hurry up because it takes a few seconds to save while the Alien could still kill you. That's when you hear it, the thud of it dropping back down and screaming and the tail pierces your chest. Game over. You just lost a bunch of progress because save points are rare and not only that but it now knows you want to go to that room. The worst part is that it knew you were in that room. It didn't know exactly where so it hid in the vent. You can tell this because if you had looked up you would see the drool dripping down from said vent. The game is incredible, you can even play it in VR now but back when I played it only had mic ability so it would hear your breathing and you had to hold your breath while it was in the room. Which was still terrifying to say the least. The immersion that brings is crazy. Coupled with great story telling and characters it really brings you into the world. Even when the Xenomorph is not around you have to navigate past the void of all humanity Androids hunting you. There's never really a moment of respite at all. Next I'm going to talk about a Major spoiler so don't read if you don't want it ruined. Towards the end of the game you find out that there is actually a nest on the ship. What this means is that the Alien following you likely hasn't been the same one every time. That the reason it was able to find your location on the massive ship so quickly is because it was a different Xenomorph. Suddenly you look back at the whole game and it makes sense. You start to realise that you could never have escaped it. That time you took a transport to the other end of the Ship and somehow it dropped down from a vent as soon as you arrived? Probably it's dad or something lol. Granted if you're a fan of the series you might have expected this but the game does a good job of making you think that it's just one. Even after watching all the films multiple times I still was surprised. All in all it's a fantastic game that really immerses you into that universe by not only being true to style of the films but by filling you with a sense of dread that never ceases until you see the credits roll.
I absolutely LOVED this game. Not just as a horror game. But just as a game in space. No other game has been more convincing about me being at a distant point in the universe and I loved that feeling. I didn't know any of the stuff in your comment. Wow what a read!! Loved it
@@McBobtheruggaman I think it's the silence, it sells the idea that you are in a place far far away from other humans. That and the space walks. Damn, those were awesome.
Your comment inspired my purchase.. I only played for about an hour lol. The spiny bastard scared me so bad I could hear palpitations in my ear. GREAT horror adaptation! Props to Creative Assembly.
You talking about stuff is my favorite genre, it doesn't really matter what the subject matter is. You pretty much always find a way to make it interesting.
I'm legitimately so mad about how PT was never finished and made into a complete game like it was supposed to by the devs. They were like, yeah this game has caused thousands of teenagers to be petrified of the dark and looking behind them for the rest of their miserable lives so we will be cancelling this idea forever.
Exactly. The potential with P.T. becoming the scariest game ever was definitely there. No other game that’s been canceled has bothered me more than when P.T. was canned. So damn infuriating.
I'm even more mad that they removed it from the PS store so now nobody can play it. The people who made that decision should get the shit kicked out of them.
When I played Halo CE for the first time and got to the flood area, I knew what was going to happen based off of my general prior knowledge of the game, but the atmosphere and dread the game builds up and then the panic it creates when the flood are released is masterful, turning Halo from an average first person shooter, to a full on survival horror. It’s amazing.
Nakeyjakey you're simultaneously the most underrated and one of the most talented youtubers on the platform. We're thankful for you. And your music is Dope.
Most of you guys seem to not understand how being underrated is a relative idea. Almost anyone can be underrated unless they're already literally at the top of their class. Like pewdiepie cant be underrated. Nakeyjakey can and is underrated vs his peers in my opinion. Edit: on second thought even pewdiepie can technically be underrated under the notion that anyone can receive less acclaim than you think they deserve.
To this day, I'm still pissed at Konami for cancelling Silent Hills for what could've been the greatest horror game of all time. I know that Hideo Kojima mentioned mentioned that he still wanted to make a horror game even after what happened with Silent Hills. Here's to hoping that Kojima can recapture what made PT so special in whatever he's working on next.
Idk he seems to have recycled some of the ideas from PT into Death Stranding and now he's been on the record that Kojima Productions will focus on making movies, so they can start finding an emergent new market that mixes movies and gaming in a more interesting way than 30-minute cutscenes. There's definitely space for scary stuff in there, but nothing like P.T. that heavily relies on game mechanics to actually be scary.
Kojima has always been the master of horror and always manages to fit a horror section in every game he makes. Death Stranding feels like the first time he was allowed to have tons of horror throughout the entire thing. It's so damn terrifying. Like, ghosts have never felt more frightening in a game than in DS, to me anyway. I think one day people will look back and recognise Kojima as one of if not THE best in the industry at making horror gameplay.
@@Nagoragama me too I've never played it i only watched it but it's the best psychological horror experience I've had in a game there are other great horror games but pt is special
PT was just so incredible, Kojima got on stage said "Hey play this teaser made by a small new team from Konami" My dumbass said yeah absolutely and was scared shitless not knowing what it was wearing some good ass headphones because I really wanted to listen to the sound design.
Well, what's interesting is that when it boils right down to it: The PT demo we played was never approved by Konami. They axed it because Kojima did it without their permission. Why did Kojima do it without their permission though? Well, interesting you (I) ask. You see, the demo WE played that scared the shit out of us was actually a test demo Kojima TRIED to show Konami execs as a proof-of-concept for what a new Silent Hill game could be like. Konami literally rejected it without ever looking at it, literally stuck Kojima back in his room isolated from his team, and then just expected him to not be mad about it alongside all the other shit they were doing him wrong on. Kojima, through that demo, effectively put them in a no-win situation: He had created a global success basically overnight and gotten everyone hyped up for a new Silent Hill, Konami's options were to either nut-up and fund the game... Or can it. They chose the latter. That was Kojima's lasting middle finger he delivered to Konami before his contract with them ended and he left the company.
The scariest thing I've ever seen in a game is at the end of Epic Mickey, where Mickey Mouse looked right at me and said the date and time I'm going to die.
i totally forgot about this game i remember taking one look at it and immediately ignoring it as it is a wii game and because i wanted to get mass effect 2.
2 years ago, one of the guys on my dorm at college had PT on his ps4, and we squeezed about 20 guys and girls into his pitch black room to watch him and a few other people rotate through playing through the game. Mostly everyone was just absolutely terrified and got caught by the jump scares almost every time, and a number of the people (even the guys) either cried, or were basically rocking back and forth whimpering in fear. It definitely got me a couple of times, but for the most part being surrounded by a bunch of other people who were very scared themselves, the majority of the horror was quite diffused for me. I think the worst portion was when everything turns red and there's paintings of eyeballs all over the walls
I never got to play it myself since I didn’t own a PS4, but I remember when it was released and made the rounds over the internet. Wasn’t it just mysteriously released on the store, with no announcement and under a fake studio name? Imagine being one of the first people who saw this in the online store, thought it looked cool and downloaded it.

yooooo i watched the hitch/maniac compilation you made for them to react to forever ago its dope to see you on jakeys channel also
When I played the game I was too scared to play that part for a while. I was like 10 or something.
It's soo sad and disappointing that silent Hill P.T got cancelled. It would've been easily one of the best games of all time if it came out
Risky Whiskey imo that just makes PT all the more legendary
it was never gonna "release", look up The Story of PT and PT's hidden meaning by the grate debate, it explains everything about the game, it's amazing
unicorn back it sucks how well Konami is doing financially, yet they can’t make good decisions with their main titles (like the garbage that is Metal Gear Survive)
What is PT, I’ve never heard of it before
They had absolutely no idea what to do even after P.T it was ALPHA random shit thrown in this demo with absolutely 0 planning, everyone was like "wtf kojima ??? what do we do ???" he was like "Heee dunno lol"
No wonder why konami shut down the project.
Imagine dying because you wanted to let a guy and his dog pass
I'm not riding, walking, jumping nor dancing off a cliff for a dog. Its a Segway, man -- how much damage could it do?

One of my favorite points about horror in games was a twitter post that talked about how having a shitty weapon is way scarier than having no weapon.
If you're unarmed, the game doesn't expect you to fight. You can can maybe get caught but you don't have to face whatever's threatening you.
If you have a stick or a barely functional bb gun though, then at best it's there for last-ditch defense and at worst you'll actually have to kill something with it. Now survival depends on you *doing* something.

OMG someone that actually shows the games they're gonna spoil in the video instead of the blanket "spoilers ahead"
Mister Nakob Jacob, you're the man.
Suprised you didn't talk about Alien: Isolation. SPOILERS AHEAD
The Alien adapts when it kills you in a certain way.
Bro skimming through that scared the shit out of me WTF
I absolutely LOVED this game. Not just as a horror game. But just as a game in space. No other game has been more convincing about me being at a distant point in the universe and I loved that feeling.

PT was just so incredible, Kojima got on stage said "Hey play this teaser made by a small new team from Konami" My dumbass said yeah absolutely and was scared shitless not knowing what it was wearing some good ass headphones because I really wanted to listen to the sound design.
Can’t wait for their next horror game
Well, what's interesting is that when it boils right down to it:
The PT demo we played was never approved by Konami.
That was Kojima's lasting middle finger he delivered to Konami before his contract with them ended and he left the company.

i totally forgot about this game i remember taking one look at it and immediately ignoring it as it is a wii game and because i wanted to get mass effect 2.
I used to be horrified of this game when I was a kid, and for a second I wasn't surprised.
