Man I already had so much goddamn fun with the RE2 remake. I actually played that game nonstop for weeks and then some after. But man, this game is just so beautiful. It’s so perfect that I’m actually kinda sad it had to be a remake and not just a new perfect game. But it’s RE4 so it’s amazing anyway. I remember in the original game you’d have to take distance into consideration so much more when in combat since it was a bit more janky and their grabs were almost like magnets, but this game is so well polished that it makes defense such a better strategy, to the point where you can actually play around the villagers and weave through them. It makes combat so much more tense and fun since it’s so much more dependent on your reaction to a situation and not just a magnet grab. Even the RE2 remake had the same problem of not really having any viable defensive options and you really just had to tank the hit or waste a knife. But this game brought the solution to a game that was already so wonderful. I can’t explain it man.

I like this format. I think I'll always the miss the more frequent main channel uploads, when you were toying around with your style and making rap reviews or w/e, but if this is how we get to hear more of what you think about games, that'll be great. You're definitely more than a yoga ball and a green screen, the way you look at this stuff is what really sets you apart

I feel like a goblin, but my friends didn't hear from me when this came out. It was 92hrs, 39 achievements and 9 playthroughs later when they finally heard from me again.
Dude you're so right about the merchant, the dude makes me smile every time I meet him. At first you're like "fuck this dude is chatty" but he becomes really comforting to come back to - much like the original but different.

@JamesCastle-vd1lcthe RE4 remake was the first time I actually beat RE4, I didn’t get too far in the original, so the merchant in the remake was my first experience with the merchant ever and yeah he’s pretty great

Yup. For me it's the Bioshock one. You just can't fake genuine passion like that, but how he's able to convey that so well and so openly, I've never seen that anywhere else and it's incredibly inspiring. I appreciate vids like this a whole lot🥲❤️

We really don't get this kind of chill, cozy, simple content on RUclips anymore. Most youtubers don't wanna do it since it doesn't get crazy high retention/ctr, but all of us here watching really appreciate it. It's fun to just relax and talk about something you love. It's not gonna make a lot of ad revenue, but to us who are here it means the world.
Jake Baldino has the same kindve vibe as Jakey does here. A guy that, on his other channel (gameranx) is pretty eccentric, but on his own personal channel just kinda chills with the viewer and talks about his favorite games
This format is dead (algorithm wise) , thats why you dont see it anymore. Like Jake does, its only feasible for massive channels that make a second channel, were they can post unscripted, more fluent/freeflow conversation videos. Baldino from gameranx is another example like the guy above said. If gameranx posted a 16 min talk to the camera video they would shoot themselves in the foot for months. Its sad but its how youtube works now. But hey there's no better time to make a second channel than now
Nah, it’s around. Maybe the gaming space doesn’t push this because of the audience, but the chill vibes are very prevalent in tech, career, fitness, game dev, and some other genres.

As someone who never played the original, this was super insightful. This video definitely reinforces the fact that so much of the value you provide as a content creator comes from your knowledge and passion of gaming. To put into perspective how passionate you feel in this video, when talking about the game it feels like one of Dunkey's videos when he's sincere about a game. Like one of his videos on a mainline Mario game. It comes off that you're passionate and that you actually care about the game and that you really do love it.

I will never play re4 remake. The very thought of a re4 remake sickens me. I wish they would stop remaking games in general, but if it were up to me they should have remade code veronica. With the success of re4, Re5 and re6 remake will probably happen, and for that I hate you all. I look at re4 remake like the krusty krab 2. This is how I feel. I will never change. No thanks, bro...

I think you should try them (not 3), thinking that way, REmake 1 wouldn’t be good, but is one of the best remakes there is. Remakes aren’t meant to be exactly the original game, just updating them. I hope you try them

Last night I just did the first village encounter in the remake with some high-quality headphones on and I can safely say that for a good 20 minutes after I was still pretty clench. only now things looked even more realistic which helped ratchet up the tension further

Yeah, fully agreed. They improved on so many things, and - like you - I also was tempering expectations before the game came out. I was afraid that they would cut the game down to a tight 6-8 hours. Like we'd get through the village section and they'd be like "oops, no castle! let's go straight to the island" or something. But they did it, the mad lads.
Love the remake a lot more than I thought I would, to the point I'm genuinely annoyed by a lot of the nitpicky criticisms I see in "the discourse", which is the first time I've felt that way about a game in several years. I try to remind myself that I saw a lot of similar nitpicks about RE2make a few years ago, and by now it's clear that history will look back on RE2 as a massive W. I'm pretty sure the same destiny awaits RE4make, at least I hope. Had a great time playing it, can't wait for whatever they churn out next in the RE franchise

This is an excellent way to use this second channel. Love the scripted stuff and more concise writing on the main channel but this type of content has such a soothing and relaxing quality to it. More of this, please!
In 2005, I purchased a Game Cube just so I could play Resident Evil 4. Ended up playing it 13 times on the cube, once on the PS4 and once on the Xbox One. This year, I ended up playing the RE4 remake and Separate Ways at least five times. Very close to the best game ever made. I feel it's between Elden Ring and RE4 for me.

Part of the appeal of your main channel videos is the structure and pacing and editing, but this still provides the other part to me which is the candor, authenticity, passion, , well founded perspectives and the feeling of just talking games with a good friend or brother. So in short I think these kinds of videos have a lot to offer and I’d be happy to see more of them.
I love the energy and humor you bring to your scripted videos, but this format is fantastic as well. Down-to-earth and sincere. You're a gem, and I think any of us just flat out enjoy whatever you wanna make!

RE4 is one of the very few games where I think about wanting to play it again during my playthrough.
Your scripted content is so damn good, but this more laid back casual style is also a lot of fun. The editing process can be so brutal, I imagine vids like these are a refreshing change of pace. Definitely keep making these!

I liked the remake very much, BUT the whole time I felt like something is missing, after finishing it I went straight back to OG and it downed on me realy quick... the atmosphere of the whole game, the over the top oneliners, the tank controls while they were outdated and janky, they also added to the feeling of danger. Overall, it seems to me that Capcom wanted to have their cake and eat it too with the remake... the combination of campiness and ocasional one liners but also the whole thing more grounded and "realistic" as they put it themselfs and for me it lost a bit of charm/soul in the process. Maybe I am just nostalgic but I have to say I enjoyed OG more than the remake after playing them back to back. Also I didn't like the direction they wenth with Ada at all.

I liked how I didn't finish the GC one, so I thought I'd try it through the RE:make, and, well, I practiced in mercenaries, felt like I was hot shit. But then I played story mode, and, they managed to make the first encounters atmosphere SCARY. It was refreshing.
