As far as interactive goes, remember the Black Ops 1 menu where you can wriggle out of the chair.
i remember doing that every time i loaded in and afterwards i was always like, k what teh fuck do i do now despite having done is like a million times
I did that once with my dad and i never found out how to do it again
You can wriggle out of the chair and then go to a computer and play Zork
TheAwokenKing very surprised he didn't remember that
TheAwokenKing best game honest to god
Wait?
You're *NOT* sitting on a yoga ball?
Pretty sure this was just before he started doing that regularly.

I love how you don’t even hide the fact that you are reading from a script lol
It fells so intimate, so fresh, I really think it's great lol
He never does hide it
I think it might be notes/points he wants to cover
Makes the videos so much better and unique doe
Drew I found out about this channel a few days ago, this guy can be funny in ways I didn’t think was possible
Whenever I watch a Jakey vid, especially the old ones when he’s awkward but still emotionally vulnerable, I just wanna give him a big ol hug for the boys
At least they have a topic to tackle smh, highschool? Dating apps? Music piracy? ESports? Weird music videos?
Old jakey kept it 100%
If he doesn't have anything to share might as well stay quiet
@@princepeachfuzz music piracy vid is iconic
@@princepeachfuzz His music piracy, dating apps, dating shows, and ESports videos were great. As were these.
@@AdamODell the amount of expertese & professional craftsmanship of these videos frighten me, to me, they're all material for someone who already seriously works, music piracy was an intresting & fresh idea to tackle but ESports had me questioning the sanity of ESports watchers that even make those events happen & dating apps was something i wouldn't think he cares about so much in a milion years,
dating shows was the worst, because it made me BELIEVE this man wont accomplish anything if he really spent as much time as he said on those shows
his hiatus wont work if he doesn't take his music work seriously
every desision he makes about this channel is his to make, i love him so much it hurts me to write these things, but if he dosen't take his time seriously he's gonna fall down a downward spiral, i know how he'd feel because i also do endless amounts of stupid shit instead of pursuing my goals
watching him shit on TLOU2 was the last strand for me, that game got so much shit already that his video was unnecessary, i'm worried for snakeboy229. you probably weren't there in his glorious start
@@princepeachfuzz ohh so that's it he trashed a game you like, that's what this is about.
And sorry if I offend you but what you're saying is just complete bollocks. His channel is fucking popping off compared to before, his highest viewership on older videos like the rap reviews is 130k or so, his last 3 videos have topped 3mil. Where are you getting your information from exactly?
UPDATE: I see a lot of people having mixed reactions to the green screen, saying they prefer the more serious Halo essay vibes, or less low budget type jokes involving me spinning around and shit. I have a couple things to say regarding those criticisms: this channel will never have an exact style, and that's exactly why I love it. Every week I try to do something a little different, and it's the experimentation that drives me to create this shit. I personally LOVE this video much more than my others, because while I'll agree the green screen usage is very rough and pretty bad at times, THIS video, more than any others, is the best representation of my interests, passions, mannerisms, and humor. Like me, this video isn't even close to perfect, but it is definitely "Jakey" to a very extreme extent. If you came for just the Halo type essays, or just the Rap Review type shit, there might be some stuff that you don't like. That's the price I'll pay for wanting to do so many fucking things, but I have too many damn interests to just be that "one video essay guy," or that "one shitty video game rapper guy." Like I really like serious game discussion, but I'm also a big fan of The Eric Andre Show. I'm passionate about making my own music, but I also love making stupid ass Rap Reviews. I perfectly understand why someone would hate this video (there's so many flaws with it), but at the same time, it (to me) feels like the most honest, and REAL video I've ever made.
Love you dog bless.
NakeyJakey I freaking loved this video Jake, gave me chills when you just took a second and showed us these screens. I absolutely love your passion for video games and what you do. Please keep it up! You're a big inspiration to me :) keep being different
NakeyJakey
keep experimenting! loved the video
NakeyJakey i would fuckin love to see what else you do with the green screen idea cuz when it's done right it's excellent.
I thought this video was perfect my dude.
All your flying around and shit and goofball jokes gave me a lot of laughs. Probably my favorite video you've made so far. Keep up the good work hot boi.
Regarding experimentation...I say go for it! Its your channel! But I'd reccomend ways to make the flow from one style to another more seemless...basically the key thing to take away is to try and make every desicion feel intentional while simutaneosly cutting out unnessesary fluff from your video! (key word is unnessesary, if your video is just an experiment then don't bother.)
Basically, try and make stuff that you yourself would watch if it wasn't your video. Like if you have this one scene that you wanna put in but you know its bad...play around with it till you make it work! Having an end goal also helps aliviate a lot of these issues, as your audience has a better idea of what your idea of a "quality" video is and can join the ride with you!
IDK...you might ignore all this, but I think this advice would help you out in the long run. But whatever...its your channel and not mine! :/
not pressing start on the ocarina of time title screen blue balled me so hard

😂😂🤣🤣 That profile picture couple with that comment turns that statement into pure gold 🔥
One of my favorite title screens ever is Detroit Becomes Human, where there's this Android girl staring at you and at first she's pretty chill and assistant-like but as the game progresses and the conflict between machine and humanity gets more intricate she becomes unstable, it's pretty cool and unsettling, and when the rebellion begins she asks you to leave and you can let her or not.
Was just going to comment this! Absolutely love the title screen in Detroit Become Human. Simply one of the best interactive title screens of all time in my opinion.
I was waiting for him to mention it before realizing the game came out a year after this video lol. A very memorable one for sure!
Christ Jakey, this is practically notebook abuse, you dropped that thing 7 times. That's like 2 more times than my parents dropped me.

Yusuf Breath of the Wild’s title screen looks like it was made on Microsoft PowerPoint. It’s incredibly underwhelming for such a lively and beautiful game
@I’m a crepe yeah it does kinda suck, but the games still amazing, and it doesn’t affect the quality really so it’s okay.
I especially love the Xenoblade Chronicles title screen, it lets you look at the whole moving image while listening to the goddamn most emotional song playing. I'm glad you showed some appreciation to it

Whenever someone in a video says: “I’m surprised you made it to the end”
Me: Why?
because, they have the stats of every video and see how many people watch till the end. and let me tell ya, it aint many. no matter the quallity of content.
I always watch till the end unless if the video is so cringey and/or unwatchable that I can't stand watching it anymore, but I never had the issue with Jakey's content...
There's 2 categories of people in this regard. The first category, like you, doesn't understand why youtubers tell it.
The second group is wondering what are you talking about because they don't usually see it. Because for the most part, when I hear "Thanks for watching", there will be nothing of interest after that. For 99% of the time it's the same "subscribe if you liked it, smash that motherfucking ding-dong button, here's my twitch, here's my patreon, my twitter, snapchat, tinder and profile on bigtiddies dot com".
Not to be disrespectful, but I don't see how hearing the same thing over and over can be interesting, my view and like are counted, if I ever want any other info I can go on the channel info, and I'd rather spend my time watching Jakey's other videos and smashing likes on them. (I'm afraid to touch the motherfucking ring-a-bong button, for some reason it reminds me of horrifying things)
This is called self-deprecating humour.
Low confidence
Mega Man 2's title screen perfectly transitions the smooth song of exposition to the epic theme of the title by slowly panning up the massive tower to see our main character.
holy shit just found you channel looked for more videos and then one popped up.
Just your luck.
Hahaha I was about to comment this!
How'd you rope Chris Pratt into presenting this video?
They're brothers.
Hons Hon Central nice use of the correct "they're" there
Their use of "they're" was good there.
These replies sound Canadian in my head for some reason 😅
Sly Cooper is so good at all of this. They're not only stylish (like the entirety of each game), but when you start a new game, you start exactly where the title screen is set. It's always in the middle of a heist or something too, so it immediately engages you in what's happening.
I will never not gush about this fantastic, underappreciated series.
I love how he somehow manages to look completely different every video
God this green screen is so awkward I love it
I think im the only one who liked the greenscreen. Keep it up bro.
you and me both pal. thanks chicken
It feels a bit odd, standing in front of the Title Screens and then just stand there reading from a piece of paper.
Axel A. Loved it lol.
I LOVED the greenscreen. I probably like those type of videos because I watch Filthy Frank.
Laurigi I loved the style over here too, like for real, but I HATE filthy Frank. Either way this video and channel is good shit
I will always remember beating kotor 2 on the xbox going through the credits and then seeing Kreia there as Darth Traya. It spooked me when I was younger but also fascinated me that the screen could even be dynamic in such a way.
i love the fact that you can't stay on subject for a whole fucking minute without cracking an awkward joke, shit's so relatable. love u jakey

The best seamless one I've seen has been God Of War (2018), seeing Kratos with the axe, starting the game, and having him swing the axe and cut the tree down was 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Yes God of war had amazing title screens. Especially the second, it automatically went into the game
The use of that tree to teach you that R1 attacks as the very first thing in the game was really cool too. I remember I found it funny how Kratos kept screaming as he hit the tree like it killed his whole family, lmao, Kratos didn't changed too much after all.

Andrew Plehn It’s awesome, however I love the first and second one a bit more, prolly just nostalgia but the first one is amazing
Man, three years have passed already and you're one of very few creators that have ever made me literally laugh out loud while my face is covered in tears. Thanks for the absolute effort and passion you've put into your content.
I thought the cheapish green screen vibe was funny af and to those people complaining, its Jake's channel and if he wants to do something he can. dog bless

Well at least your username is accurate.
norealpoint even though I get your point there is nothing wrong with constructive criticism. If no one criticised his use of greenscreens it wouldn't be nearly as great as it is now.
Arkham City has one of my favorite title screens. It's just amazing with the music, Batman kicking ass and flying and shit and it's great
Especially considering that those were the takedowns you'd do in-game
While City's Title Screen is good, I like "Origins" Title Screen better.
However, I do admit driving to Arkham City's Main Title Theme on the Highway on some evenings.
I agree the music for Arkham just made everything feel so important
One of my favorite title screens is CrossCode. The music is so peaceful, the sound of the sea and the character looking at the majestic city in the distance, really gives us a great sense of adventure.
9:58 THANK YOU, I was literally waiting for this when I clicked on the video. As a kid that was my favorite title screen, because despite the simplicity it perfectly captured that Kingdom Hearts vibe.

Shadow of the Colossus, I love how seamless it is, staring at all the details of the temple, gorgeous
Black ops 1 had a great title screen
n0noriginal yeah, where you could get up out of the chair.
Yeah, it was kind of like foreshadowing and when you got to the point in the game when he was put in the chair was pretty cool
n0noriginal That’s a Main Menu, not a title screen but I know what you mean.

I just love how honest and emotional you get by even mentioning or thinking about the games you love the most. Great job, great videos, and good taste in games too!
Hey I love the points you're making but I don't know how I feel about the green screen. Don't get me wrong, you use the script as a comedy prop well, but outside of that I don't know how much it brings to the video and sometimes, when you look at the script it can detract from it and distract from your points. Especially this video as it's more focused on what you're looking at. Basically the essay portion is excellent, the video is less so. Fuckin love your shit though.
candle340 yeah I agree
He obviously did those things on purpose for a comedic effect. The amateurish style and low budget feel of the video is nothing knew. In a way it's cringe humor
I do agree but it doesn't bug me at all. It feels like a good friend in a group telling a great story in class with a shitty presentation or something lol. So all those things like the script in hand and green screen are just kinda part of it.
+SPECTRVCON Exactly! lol he obviously has the equipment and knowledge to make a really good quality video but chooses the hilarious armature route so he seems like you a said, a friend who is giving us his a opinion but doesn't seem cocky and makes it funny and relatable
i kinda like it haha
Ocarina's title screen was straight church👌😔☝️
King Xerocole damn I can't believe I lost it that will probably always be my favorite game
I really liked the metroid prime title screen for the music and the visuals, it was super badass and told me that I was aboutta get into a deep world
I still remember when I was a kid playing StarCraft for the first time. I loved that the main menu is like you being in space, scanning the environment around you. The singleplayer campaign is going towards a space battle between all three races in the distance. The map editor is a new, undiscovered planet for you to explore, and even terraform. Multiplayer is a satellite that might allow you to communicate with other commanders, executors, and cerebrates, and the exit button is a black hole back into the real world. That stuff blew my mind as a kid, and apart from the map editor being gone, I still love seeing that menu look so much better now in StarCraft Remastered.
Oh man, that menu screen, along with the music, just felt so mysterious. I also spent ages just looking at it back in the day. Same with the campaign select screen looking at each race and the biometrics that popped up
Sad Xenoblade Chronicles title screen got a very small cameo and no explanation on its gorgeous beauty
In fact, most of the jrpgs got very little to no love/explanation.
I thought the beauty of Xenoblade Chronicles's title screen was that there was no need for explanation.
@@CrazyRiverOtter
To be fair, there's much more to the title screen than what Jakey showed. You need to fully experience it to realise its mesmerising beauty.
Also, Main Theme definitely deserves the mention in the Music category.

Lmao it's a little sad that I like the Xenoblade Chronicles title screen more than the actual game
I fucking love the green screen. It adds personality to the format and that's far more important with the ABSURD amount of videos one can find like this on YT. Keep doing you and I'll stick around.
Great video! I adore Borderlands 2's title screen (and box art!). That music and the rotating camera showing off that beautiful, iconic art style
"No game will be safe from my sword move."
big green screen meteorologist style format... I like it but you gotta relax a bit more and figure out what you're doing with your hands sometimes... Other times you're doing just fine, so I suppose just working on consistency.
I love you Nakey Jakey. so much.
I agree completely, I like the idea but a bit of refinement wouldn't hurt. I feel like a halo type setup would worked awesome with this
Honestly, in my opinion, the video would be better off without it. It was really disorientating for me and I lost all focus because I was kind of distracted by too much thing going on in the video. I had to listen to what he was saying + look at him flailing his arms around and other effects + look at the actual video. It's too much, sorry. :(
I agree, especially when you are featuring stuff behind you it is hard to appreciate the visual examples when they are cut off at times. Love the Box Art video and the simple Visual Video, Audio Commentary format.
google plus fucking sucks i really liked the awkwardness and green screen lol. Felt fun and human.

it's kind of cool to see that youve grown so much as a creator. Reading from your journal straight up to now memorizing the main points on your script. YOURE DOING GREAT SWEETIE
That's weird. When I played Spec Ops: The Line I never saw that sniper guy. It was always just the upside down flag blowing in the wind. I guess it must vary from save to save.
Depending on where you are in the game, and what ending you get, it will change. Raycevik explains this in his video
ruclips.net/video/8dzstxE_5Rc/видео.html
It’s kinda like the Ps2 start up with the towers
Yes. He explains this in the video. lol
Yeah, it changes in specific chapters, a couple where he just disappears away from the edge of the building and the final title screen at the end of the game. That one can be pretty easily explained though, if you see the one for Chapter 14 at least.
Panzer Man ju
arkham city may just have my favorite title screen of all time.

It’s pretty good. I kept the game open to see if I could get all the slo mo, must say though Arkham city is still the best. I was disappointed knight.. 😔
0:54 Am I the only one who absolutely LOVES BF1's main menu? I think it looks incredibly slick and performs super well... Looks department, probably one of my favorite UIs ever is from BF1.
I really enjoyed watching this video because how you showed what this games meant to you-the music title screens and everything-, made me relate so much like SO MUCHH

This is my favorite video of Nakey, feels really down to earth and genuine, more so than any other.
I really love this video.
I mean I love everything on your channel but this video represents it the best. When watching this video I felt that you're really interested in what you're talking about and how much you love video games. It was amazing and gave me a new look on video games title screens. Thank you.
One of my personal favorites is just cause 3
The second time I played I was blown away by the fact that it was both seamless and changing. And most importantly that the game was smart enough to give you a new car every time you booted it up.
Game’s got a lot of problems, but that’s one of its many successes
Your channel is amazing Nakey, I love it. Thank you for all the videos that you've made and been making, they're sooo good.
I think my favorite title screen so far is probably Borderlands 2 due to the landscapes changing throughout the players save point while featuring what you have acquired on your character as you progressed.
I always figured that the character model changed obviously based on what you were wearing but it wasn't until I got an effervescent gun strapped to my back that I realized that guns also changed which is so cool
I fucking love this green screen stuff. Reminds me of those old 90s video game review shows before the internet was a thing.
Shiron Bando Arcade top 10
The Life Is Strange title screen is so nice & calming that sometimes I boot up the game just to see/listen to the title screen :)
I'm replying to a 3 year old comment but - I was looking for a comment about the LiS title screen, it's so nice, and I also love how it changes between chapters 4 and 5 with the storm approaching. it's simple but effective!
I really appreciate this video, i can understand what really makes other games screens to be unique, im making my own prototype as im learning game developing and this has worked me like a charm.
*jake talking about how we usually get a prerecorded/prerendered cutscene before getting into the still image title screen*

Dog gone blue balled.
One of the best title screens for me is AC Rogue. The shattered symbol of the creed slowly turns and becomes the symbol of the Templar, while the normal ezio's family theme is accompanied with horns that give it a more royal and military theme. A Templar theme. Then the song breaks from its classic style to signify shay breaking away onto his own path. They could have used another cover of ezio's family, but they chose to make a theme that fit the game better. I also feel like the part of the theme that breaks off is kind of like a bird's song, shay finally free from his cage and flying independent
I love the title screen for Legend of Legaia. Gives me such nostalgia when I boot it up
that Life is Strange title screen is on point
Dr. Loomis I’m too lazy for paragraphs so I’ll make points
1) changing, as was talked about in here
2) really focused on the storm closing in
3) reminds you of the beauty of scenery and that’s a focus on the game
4) that mfing music mane
5) that mf vibe my guy yafeelme?
Too bad the game sucks
The Metroid Prime title themes is the absolute best theme of all time.
I agree especially the last 2 games
When put into the context of the game, the Spec Ops: The Line title screen is brilliant in addition to looking rad
Right the sniper is kind of a visual shorthand for the protagonists mental state
I've been doing research on retro video games for inspiration for content and this was helpful!
honestly, you are so underated and deserve to do youtube fulltime. the work that goes into your videos and writing is extremely apparent. Keep it up and good luck. Truly, a fan :)
When did the yoga ball enter? 🤔
Mad props man I am working on my game's title screen and this helped a bit in some level of clarity
I'm so glad that you mentioned Ocarina of Time!!! One of the things i like the most is that by the end of that sequence in the menu, the camera jumpcuts closer to the Kokiri forest's entrance while matching the melody.........THAT IS SUCH A GOOD DETAIL!!!
It really reinforces the song while slowly bringing you to the starting area of the game
Weird question
Do you cry to it? Even if you don't have nostalgia to it??
It's a damn good title scredn.. My top one in fact
But I always cry to it
@@user-ti6us2br4x Sometimes, i cry to it yes... I do have Nostalgia associated to it. The song has a melancholic tone so i think that also helps make me cry.

My favourite one, that DEFINITELY goes into the music category: Persona 4
THIS
Hell yeah!! I have an immense nostalgic feel whenever i go back and listen to the menu theme..
When you mentioned interactive title screens I thought you were going to mention Pikmin, and i'm also surprised that I didn't see any other comment mentioning it
Sadly shows how obscure Pikmin is to some people. Like seriously why do more people know shitty games like FIFA 21 and those other cookie cutter sport franchises like NBA2K than
people who know Pikmin?
Sad :(
One great title screen/menu is mariokart wii. The music adds more instruments and gets faster paced the closer you get to the race, starting slow and simple on the title screen, getting faster as you choose the speed, tracks, characters, and karts.
I always sit and watch the F-Zero GX title screen for at least a minute, which for me is rare - I'm usually mashing the Start Button like a jackhammer when I boot up a game to just get past the title screen. I love how GX sets up a full race of 30 computer-control racers with a cool dynamic camera constantly shifting around, making it so you'll technically see something different every single time. But mostly the music is plays is the highlight. It is an absolute banger that just gets you freakin' pumped to get in there and race around.
Bo1 title screen is pretty dope
Bo1?

Man, I can't wait to be able to brag to people about being an early subscriber to you. Keep up the good work and dog bless.
Also, Portal 2 is another good example of the changing title screen.
6:55 just like the old jetpack joyride title screen, its got the jetpack sitting there with a sign saying do not steal, then when you burst through the wall the the classical music stops and the phonogram starts playing some cheesy-ass rock music and you fly off with the jetpack
I think the mario kart TS is pretty iconic, gives me so much nostalgia
