What made halo so special was all the good memories people build when playing split screen and custom games. Its sad that you missed such an amazing childhood ;c. What’s even more sad is that most kids now days are growing up playing fortnite and not halo.

The Believe diorama shows not only the hell the fictional soldiers and marines of the UNSC had to go through but I think it symbolizes what real soldiers and people have to go through to protect what they love. Dog Bless.

7:19 Oh shit. My name is also Michael and when I was 7 years old, I was so lonely that I had imagined countless scenarios in which all of my PS3 characters spanning from LBP to Shadow of the Colossus, etc. were at some point alive in my PS3 celebrating my efforts and hours put into gaming.
Feels a bit cathartic to remember those embarrassing imaginations.

I remember when that Gears of War advert dropped, most of my friends and I were still using CRT monitors and we got hyped about the game, but then once we watched it again with a HDTV we noticed the drop of sweat running down Marcus Fenix's face after bursting through the window and it felt like the future was finally here.
Yeah, GoW 2 also has an amazing ad with How It Ends by Devotchka that still gives me chills.
Nickolai Boulton The leap to HD was huge. I don't know if we'll ever see a leap like that again.
Jeremy Seal organic procedural monitors or OPM's, if more research is done and improvements are made, we could see a bigger leap to the future than the transition to the HD in the upcoming 25 years :)

Does the Dead Island trailer count as a commercial? The commercials themselves were pretty stupid, but that trailer was the best thing about the game and probably one of the most memorable trailers for any game.

@@sethstartix nah it was overhyped up the ass. The end result was a great game,it's just way too overhyped. Plus the series has had its bumps with 2,3, and judgment as well as 4. This series gets stale very quickly unlike Halo which experimented with it's formula. Hell even forza tried something new with horizon and look where it got them.
@@sethstartix gears of war is a good series at best, but if this is xbox's killer app they won't last (epic games no longer works on it,coalition does) and it shows.

That Assassin's Creed commercial music is Justice - Genesis. Justice is a french duo who does electronic music. That was from their first album which is legendary from beginning to end. Enough variation yet similar style all throughout. It had some slow love moments but also aggressive music. Amazing duo. Best live show I've been to out of all the hip-hop, rock, metal shows I've been to. Maybe around 50.

Halo 3 had one of the best marketing campaigns and ended up being one of the best games of all time. It's one of those rare games where everything about it was fucking amazing.

Halo 3 great example of design by subtraction. It doesn't have everything but it has most everything it ever needed and nothing more. This includes an almost uncontested-ly good atmosphere.

The one thing I remember about Dante's Inferno is that every commercial ended with "go to hell." Shock is such a good way to advertise.

I was in junior high when that Gears of War ad first aired. That trailer has stuck with me to this day. I forgot about that diorama Halo ad but when I saw it I totally shed nostalgia tears. Thanks so much for this video.

I tried to like it.. The frame rate feels locked around 60 (why no 144fps love!?), the cross-hair being lower on the screen? (why), and there's a fix to center it, but it makes the first person models physically move up, and block more of your vision. The mouse doesn't feel very snappy, but I will say it's WAY better than PC Halo5 Forge. (What was that mouse delay garbage?)
Overall. Give it a try, and it would be more fun to play with friends that used to play Halo 3 back in the day with you. Which for me, sadly, all my friends were PC 100%, even when growing up, so they didn't play Halo back in the day. :/
wreck2 you can change the first person models in the settings. There's a preset made to work for the centered crosshair mod.

First of all, the Blam! engine's physics are locked at 60fps. There's literally nothing you can do. Second of all, the lower crosshairs are a staple from Bungie (you can turn them off in settings)

i come back to this video every so often and i rewatch the believe trailer an get chills every single time; that's a proper commercial.
two ads that I think illustrate the games they’re promoting perfectly in 2 different ways are Squads launch trailer and Ready or Nots announcement trailer. Squad used real gameplay, but does it in an impactful way that demonstrates the essence of the game perfectly, while also having great music to bring it all together. Ready or Not, on the other hand, is a wonderfully crafted, emotion filled, 1 minute video topped off with amazing music choice which honestly gives me chills. I know there’s probably not many people here who’ve heard of either of these games, but still amazing examples of an ad for an obscure genre working to the *fullest*
My personal favorite trailer is the AC Revelations trailer. The music, location, and story make it so atmospheric and I still get goosebumps watching it to this day.
The one with Woodkid - Iron? The best one they have ever made. I remember the people working on Assasins Creed's ads won awards and all of that.

The 2 commercials that you highlighted, Dante's Inferno and Gears of War, are the same two that I always remember and show people when I talk about how good a game commercial can be.

I remember really loving the AC: Revelations cinematic trailer, and I _still_ can't get the song out of my head almost decade later. I had downloaded it to my PS3 and I watched it at least two dozen times.

I really love that a commercial that you see after playing a game can make the game somewhat better. I am a big Destiny fan and I saw the TTK ads after I played it and damn, it made me fall in love with it all over again. Something about the live action ads just clicked.

One of the most nostalgic ad campaigns for me is the "Wii Would Like to Play" ads. Definitely think those played a big role in the Wii's success in capturing a casual audience, but they just made the Wii's library seem that much more fun too. Plus most of them are hilarious lol

My favorite video game commercials will forever be the Dead Island 1 Hotel commercial as well as the cinematic reveal trailer for Skyrim.

The Bioshock Beyond the Sea trailer is great too as we see big daddies, creepy splicers and little sisters and the chaos and horror that is Rapture. All to the sound of Bobby Darrin's Beyond the Sea, and old school classic
Me and my brother stayed up late to watch the Starry Night Halo 3 ad on TV. It was on early in the morning in the UK and it was worth the wait. Halo has always had amazing trailers and adverts. Peace out, much love BungieBois xx
