discordapp.com/invite/S9uJ794 Ever heard of Bluemaxima's Flashpoint? We appreciate Flash games alot and we're trying to save as much as we can before Adobe drops support bluemaxima.org/flashpoint/
For those that don't know, there's a fan project called Flashpoint which brings back flash games as a library, where you can pick what game to play and even favorite them for later. It's still being updated to have more flash games over time.
It still exists. For older flash games just use Google to search, also new one's can be made and played but need to be compatible with HTML5. Also Newgrounds has it's own flash launcher. I swear people need to research before commenting lol oh and look up Flashpoint.
It’s the internet, there will always be way to get around with stuff as long as you have a computer because mobile devices suck ass and can’t do anything
I was 11 in 2005 when I saw xiao xiao on a website called freeonlinegames.com, then went to stickpage. Stickpage forums got me to pick up Pivot, then EZtoon, then pirate Flash, got me to Newgrounds and I discovered Egoraptor and now I watch Gamegrumps daily. I always wished I could animate or create content for a living.

You're 100% right. I was one of those kids with strict parents, and I have a lot of great memories of playing flash games when I was growing up. From sites like Newgrounds and Addicting Games, to more kid-friendly ones like Neopets and Cartoon Network.com, those things were a huge part of my childhood.

Oh hey, it's that guy that made that one game I remember from years ago That game was great, and I am now hyped for the sequel to a flash game I roughly remember from several years ago. _wew lad_
I'm trying to develop a top down zombie shooter that was inspired by flash games such as decision and SAS zombie assault. Its been nearly 2 years, I cant imagine people being able to consistently crank out quality games. The amount of time you had to put in it must have been excruciating!
I bring this up every time flash games are mentioned, but one more time won't hurt. *All major internet browsers are set to discontinue Adobe Flash support by 2019, and Adobe itself will discontinue support in 2020.* What this means is that in a few months, it'll become impossible to play/watch any Flash content within your browser. All these games and videos you just saw and that were mentioned, as well as pretty much any Flash game/animation you remember from your childhood, will become permanently inaccessible. While sites like Newgrounds have already switched to using alternate software methods for producing and hosting content (namely by using HTML5), their backlogs of famous (and sometimes infamous), beloved content will become broken Flash plugins. However, there is still hope. A group spearheaded by archivist BlueMaxima have developed a software application built solely around archiving Flash content in a usable form. It's called Flashpoint, and it stores Flash games/animations and all the the files needed to run said content, as well as emulates the software and/or server interactions needed to properly run said Flash content. All of which is done within the Flashpoint application itself. They've so far have archived thousands of Flash games (I believe the number is around 5,000) and recently have begun archiving hundreds of Flash animations. They've even archived some non-Flash content deemed important enough to the history of the internet; such as certain Java, Shockwave, Unity, and HTML5 content. Their only limit so far is multiplayer-focused games, as the amount of work and time need to preserve them in a functional state isn't worth the investment. They're low on time, and have to prioritize certain content. That leads me to another point: the group is comprised of non-profit random volunteers who's main factor linking them together is a love of Flash games and animations. They're trying their best to save as much as they can, but they need help. They lack manpower. So anyone who knows anything about coding, Adobe Flash, software preservation, or anything related; and who share their vision would be a great deal of help. Even if it's only to suggest content to be preserved, every bit brings them closer to their goal. Search for "BlueMaxima Flashpoint" on Google. You'll find more information there, as well as links to their official Discord server, and downloads for Flashpoint and other related content.
Why discontinued support from Adobe mean Flash will stop working? There is already barely any support from the browsers anyway but we can still use Flash. I don't think all Flash will be gone in 2020. The real danger is webpages removing flash content from servers over time, because less and less people will use it and it will become unsustainable to host. Having said that, nice shout-out to Flashpoint. That project is gold.
I'm 14 and I also grew up playin these classics and what I read here is some bullshit. I never want to see a world without Y O U N E E D T O U P D A T E Y O U R A D O B E F L A S
Well, in my case, i could spend another good portion of my life playing the Fancy Pants series, or The last stand games, or, even better, sift heads series. They just never age, they're still kicking for me.
thank you so much for bringing me back, I was discussing the matter w my neighbor just the other day its incredible just how much of the early internet now only exists in the memory of those who used to partake in those obscure games

There was this old flash game where you had to jump between buildings. If you missed your character would explode into bloody chunks. There was also a homeless man who would run you over with a shopping cart. Weird stuff.
Kongregate was my primary site, and the one I uploaded my simple games when I was learning to code in Flash. They had a great API for high scores and such, and it was good to learn how to integrate *my* program with *their* API. Trixie's Challenge and Gem Quest on Kongregate were my wonderful creations :) They were both taken from Kongregate and reposted to the other sites as well by other people.
Kongregate is gone? There were a couple of amazing games in there. I remember a shoot em up with dragons where you raised it and it had branching evolutions. It was pretty cool; worthy of a console release.
Mngalahad Mngalahad No, it’s still there, thank God. That site was my childhood. They’ve just changed it a bit and taken down a lot of really classic games. Plus, Jake didn’t say anything about them in the vid, lul
I loved the flash games when I was in high school and I love this video, but let's be honest, the best part of this video is the jam session at the end with the boys!
- Age of War - Feudalism - Swords and Sandals 2 - Armed with Wings - Sonny - Warlords: Call to Arms - Chaos Faction - Plazma Burst These were my childhood
Every generation has something that defines them. Flash games define my era of childhood. So many hours spent a n those games at home and school, it’s insane to think about. Lots of great memories.
The Last stand, whack your boss, Penguinz, boxhead, clear vision, thing thing arena, friendly fire, storm the house, pillage the village, doodle god. The list of all my favorite flash games can go on. Nothing can fully replicate the edginess of mid 2000s flash games. There was a certain feel to then that I haven't felt in a long time.
Now join come check out Blue Maxima's Flashpoint, We're saving these games before they go offline in 2020 when Adobe pulls the plug on its player discordapp.c om/invite/Mz7N9wp
Jakey you are the besttt!! Such a nostalgic video, I believe many of us in this channel played flash games while they were a kid and can relate to all the memories we all had together. There are so many awesome games on the flash game sites. I vividly remember all the dark af games in the Kongregate and I'd browse through and play so many flash games in there. Earn to Die's soundtracks were amazing, the Last Stand was such an awesome zombie defense game, SAS Zombie assault was one of my favorites and there was a game that I couldn't find. The guy was wearing a dark yellow dress and we were seeing him from the top, the game was kinda RPG-like but also a shooter, it was a very interesting one.
We used to use Google Translate to play the Vietnamese version of Happy Wheels because it was the only version that wasn’t blocked on the school internet
I remember the school library had a rule that we specifically weren’t allowed to play happy wheels but they didn’t even know how to block the site so kids would do it anyway and get in trouble lol
Rest In Peace flash. You will be remembered for making every high school day have a purpose and for making rainy summer days some of the most memorable.
I live for the day when Fancy Pants World 2, Line Rider and Nitrome Must Die are talked about with the same reverence as Ocarina of Time, Dark Souls and Tony Hawk's Project 8.
@@skyflame-z3s me and my friend got so good at speedrunning that we were able to finish the entire game in one lunch break. We also did the same thing with the sequel.

Dude, how weird is it to consider that we are no longer 'those crazy kids' and are instead well on our way to becoming the out of touch older generation. Man, I thought it would be easy to be that adult who understood youth culture, but now that I'm here I'm finding I don't really want to, and that the way things used to be are better and these new fangled mobile games are rotting kid's brains and back in my day we had real games like on newgrounds and GET OFF OF MY INTERNET YOU CRAZY KIDS!!!
Xenath Cytrin I totally know what you mean. It seemed so easy when we were younger to grow up being an adult who understood youth culture, yet I already feel that slipping in my early 20’s. It’s so bizarre.
@@CaptainHalibut eh, its all part of growing up You can't stay young forever, you can only act younger and younger until you become a joke. The world changes a lot, but i think we forget that its alright to not change with it if you don't want to. Just keep in mind, whatever you do, you aren't better than other people just because they did something different.
You can say whatever you want, but nothing will ever recapture the feeling of coming back from school, eager to log in to newgrounds and go play swords and sandals, the last stand,or see that glorious madness series.
When I was in high school I had a shit load of flash games saved to my computer class computer and I thought my teacher would delete them so my genius idea was to hide them in a folder titled 'new folder' and inside that folder was a shit load of other folders titled 'new folder' and then like 7 more layers of 'new folder' folders before you got to the flash games. Good times....
Lol... My High school had accounts all passed back to a local server.... I may have installed an old MMO [Silk Road Online] onto the server and could play it from any computer in the building. It was laggy as shit but I could still do it!
I was born in 2005 so I was playing flash games at the end of their life like fancy pants and Super Mario World on the original IMac 98 - 2005 chunky computer but I also had mobile games that were just as creative like sugar, sugar and stickman skater that were basically flash games I also had more "modern" games like asphalt 6, doodle jump, angry birds space and go, monument valley, and Shrek kart racing (not a joke fun as fuck) . I just think it's crazy that within 7 years I went from fancy pants and Minecraft PE to RDR2 and Minecraft Java ( Minecraft is the game of all of the kids my ages childhood and current life don't lie). Its fucking crazy great video man thanks.
fellow 2005 born kid here, I had pretty much the same experience as you lol. I feel like late 2000s-early/mid 2010s had some extremely influential flash games in their own right. A lot of people overlook some of the games that came out towards the end of the heyday of flash. Apart from breaking the bank, all of the Henry stickmin games came out in the 2010s. And, as you said, a lot of the early app store games were class too (I remember doodle jump, paper toss and one game that was basically interactive buddy but it was supposed to be your boss.) Now pretty much all I play is Apex lmao
I mean, it's not like Flash presents some kind of issue on IOS and the like. Mobile platforms don't run Flash specifically so that the games section of the App Store can function as a non-egregious ripoff.
@@kingpotato7183 no, he is correct, as the mobile genre has grown more developers just started pumping out game of war cash grab clones and less actually put effort into their games
4:20 1- you don't have to install it 2-you won't see an ad every time you lose 3-it won't give you notification if you stop playing it for 2 days 4-it didn't ask you to buy anything mobile games are a disaster of low quality give us your money or spend all your life trying to get to level 20 while flash games may have low quality but it's just a game if you want to play you can go for it without spending a single dollar for 2 or 3 hours and move on

Developer of Epic Battle Fantasy here!
Just popping by to say the series is still alive and the 5th game is almost done!
Keep an eye on my RUclips channel or website!
Oh hey, it's that guy that made that one game I remember from years ago
That game was great, and I am now hyped for the sequel to a flash game I roughly remember from several years ago.

I'm trying to develop a top down zombie shooter that was inspired by flash games such as decision and SAS zombie assault. Its been nearly 2 years, I cant imagine people being able to consistently crank out quality games. The amount of time you had to put in it must have been excruciating!
I LOVE YOU
Wow, this is surprising.
I've been following 5 since it's confirmation.
Alternatively here's a direct link to the Discord server.

Wait that means......like literally everything!? Like FRIGGIN hentai!? : ((((((
Why discontinued support from Adobe mean Flash will stop working? There is already barely any support from the browsers anyway but we can still use Flash. I don't think all Flash will be gone in 2020. The real danger is webpages removing flash content from servers over time, because less and less people will use it and it will become unsustainable to host.
Having said that, nice shout-out to Flashpoint. That project is gold.
Dog bless the troops

There was this old flash game where you had to jump between buildings. If you missed your character would explode into bloody chunks. There was also a homeless man who would run you over with a shopping cart. Weird stuff.

The lack of Kongregate, ArmorGames, miniclip, and stickpage makes me somewhat upset

Stickpage was the absolute shit
I loved the flash games when I was in high school and I love this video, but let's be honest, the best part of this video is the jam session at the end with the boys!
- Age of War
- Feudalism
- Swords and Sandals 2
- Armed with Wings
- Sonny
- Warlords: Call to Arms
- Chaos Faction
- Plazma Burst

The Last stand, whack your boss, Penguinz, boxhead, clear vision, thing thing arena, friendly fire, storm the house, pillage the village, doodle god. The list of all my favorite flash games can go on.
Nothing can fully replicate the edginess of mid 2000s flash games. There was a certain feel to then that I haven't felt in a long time.

Really, what are mobile games but reskinned flash games crammed full of microtransactions?
First thought I had after reading the video title.
I mean, it's not like Flash presents some kind of issue on IOS and the like. Mobile platforms don't run Flash specifically so that the games section of the App Store can function as a non-egregious ripoff.
Except no phone apps or games are nearly as fun as these used to be.
