I’ve been taking medications that caused me to have constipation and the past few days have been miserable. I tried doing this and took a nap after, and woke up being able to poop. I think doing this coupled with eating fruits, staying dehydrated etc really helped. Thank you! Will be doing this more regularly.

Context: Constipated for 4 days. This helped me pass some gas. Heard gurgling. But still haven't gotten anything out other than the gas. I'm on a second loop of this video, so approx 27min into doing this. Is giving some relief but was really hoping to get something out already. I'll keep doing this and give more feedback tomorrow
this helped me tremendously. i had a movement less than 10 mins later. I still don’t feel full relief, but im gonna keep trying this out and eat less rice😭

The video was very helpful. I just had back surgery but it was done through the anterior view. I sometimes have problems with a “sleeping bowel” after surgery due to anesthesia and pain medication. I sure do hope the yoga works . Thank you for sharing.

Yes rectocele can be so limiting can't it, I usually use the osmotics (eg Miralax) but not too much so as to make the stool top soft so getting right stool consistency is a big factor for management. These can be taken long-term without issue for most people. Active magnesium powder/tabs is also great. A couple years back I had a surgical repair for a traumatic shoulder injury. The narcotic pain relievers caused me some issues with this. The only advice I was able to find at the time was to use stool softeners, and other things such as that, and to drink lots of water. This could have been very helpful then, and I will certainly remember this technique if ever I have this problem again. Again thank you for ALL that you do. Yes agreed, I've experienced this too in the past as have many of my patients suffering chronic pain on opoids or pain relieving meds that cause constipation. I find doing abdominal fascia skin rolling technique(grabbing a pinchful between your fingers and thumb of your skin on your abdomen and rolling them through your fingers until you feel a crunching sensation and working your way up and down until you have done this to all your abdomen muscles) first before doing abdominal massage helps make it easier for your hand to slide over your abdomen for steps 1 and 3. Only takes an additional like 20-30 seconds. Certainly helps me cause my abs/pelvic floor are always in a knot.

OK I just did a massage and I’m gonna continue to do it for another 10 minutes wish me luck because I’ve been using enemas and I’m getting just a tiny bit out but I need to empty my bowels because it’s been days and days and days so I’ll report back. I definitely think the massage techniques are helping, but in my case with somebody that has severe constipation for many years, I might have to refer to some laxatives. They have already put me on the medication Linzess and it worked for a little bit and now it has completely stopped working. I have used a saline solution. I filled myself with 11 bottles of water. After the first solution was put in well altogether, it was 11 bottles and I still got barely anything out and I’ve been doing that a few different times and each time it’s just a little very little bit that comes out so I’m gonna have to talk to my doctor again because I take Suboxone which severely plugs me up. But I can tell this massage technique does really help and thank you for sharing again. Please take care of Michelle and may you be blessed.
@michellefain4730 That's why I'm here! I am also on suboxone and have your exact problem. Did this help for you? All other laxatives have stopped working for me recently and it's starting to freak me out. Doctors do not take it as seriously as they should that's for sure.
After a terribly botched appendicectomy I have been struggling for yrs to find comfort on my bad days. I usually try a warm compress or a hot bath for stimulation. This was very very helpful . I’m going to try this with olive oil once a week.

I suggest stop at the top of the left hip bone for 2 reasons: 1. the large bowel doesn't travel horizontally across lower abdomen so no real benefit 2. I prefer not to apply pressure over the low abdomen, why? again good question, simply not comfortable for many to apply pressure directly over the bladder/lower abdo pelvic organs that sit in the low pelvis. Only on the last step down to the midline low abdome diteting the stool towards rectum. I hope this answers, I haven't read not to do this so my perosnal reasonings only, let me know what you think too ...

Hey there @naturegirl4074 I think it's most helpful to keep the massage to the large intestines (at this stage at least until more research is perfomed)- shift this area and the contents of the small intestines will then have room to move and hence promote motiltiy that way, sort of like clearing the end section of a long pipe if that makes sense?
I am compacted i can feel the hard lumps in my bowles. With your masage the hard balls break loos and then i have to remove them with my fingure. Three days only small bits come away. Pain in

Having said this, if it's a constipation issue, extra focus on step 2 circular on that R side and then shift it up and across to the L side with step 3. I couldn't figure out why this wasn't working. I eventually went to the doctor about it and now I'm in the hospital because my appendix had burst haha

I like to do it around my large intestine about 5 mins and my small intestines for 5 mins. Is that not ok to do the small intestines?
Hey there @naturegirl4074 I think it's most helpful to keep the massage to the large intestines (at this stage at least until more research is perfomed)- shift this area and the contents of the small intestines will then have room to move and hence promote motiltiy that way, sort of like clearing the end section of a long pipe if that makes sense?

Yes that is fine! Sleep won’t harm your stomach. Just make sure you hydrate before you go to bed!

@naturegirl4074 this is the ascending colon (large bowel) region. I'll preface by saying always check with your doctor re abdo hard areas. Having said this, if it's a constipation issue, extra focus on step 2 circular on that R side and then shift it up and across to the L side with step 3.
