💝Prolapse diagnosis doesn't necessarily mean prolapse surgery. Hoping this prolapse treatment information helps you know your options for prolapse management. You can discuss these treatment options with your Pelvic Floor Physio or Gynecologist ⚕
I had a very sudden grade 3 total pelvic and rectal prolapse. There was NO alternative but surgery. Pessarys are not suitable for every situation and they are difficult to keep clean. I'm post-op day 24 and incredibly glad to have had this surgery. This information is informative but only you and your surgeon can make this decision. I did kegals religiously for over 40 years and it did NOTHING to prevent this. I'm a board certified family nurse practitioner and I hope this gave women things to DISCUSS with their urogynecology specialist when they get their pelvic structures prolapse evaluated and not ignore the absolute necessity to get a proper examination.
@meatdog yes indeed I agree wholeheartedly, for some women there is no alternative but prolapse surgery. This can be a lifechanging procedure and the decision can only be made by the woman and her surgeon. I should have stated this in this video. Unfortunately some women are not aware that there are alternatives to prolapse surgery that can be worth trying rather than going straight to surgery, particularly young women and women with mild-moderate prolapse. Wishing you all the very best for your recovery & thank you for sharing your personal insights for the benefit of all, cheers Michelle
I just heard this physiotherapist say what my doctor in Canada said. With estrogen to the cervical walls and Kegels this approach can help with MILD bladder prolapse. Combined with the device is even better. This helps confirm for me that this is a good approach. Thx.
Had a partial hysterectomy many years ago to eradicate endo as well as adeno with minimal success. Wound up with a prolapsed bladder by 40 yrs old. Lived with it like that for almost ten yrs. Just yesterday had a sacrocolpopexy with mid-urethral sling and in the worst pain of my life! Wish I had found your video sooner! Thanks to woman like you for trying to help other woman going through this. But there needs to be more education about physio bc my Dr never once mentioned it!
Great explanation & information for those of us trying to avoid surgery. I understand there is a relatively high failure rate with surgical repairs....plus all those mesh lawsuits! I went to a pelvic floor PT...she was very helpful. I'm fitted with a removable pessary & do kegals....Been two years...doing well. Thank you for your helpful videos.
@99jeepxjguy97 pleasure to help! Thank you so much for the kind words and warm greetings from Idaho! 😊 I'm grateful to still be able to help and share this important information. Wishing you all the best!🙏❤️
I love this video, im so glad u shared it . Keep helping women find ways to avoid surgery n share hoe to have sex tips with prolapse n more pessary videos all this is helpful . @mom2blessings_sadie thank you for sharing. Yes the knob pessary is for bladder prolapse and urinary incontinence. It may be helpful to work with your gynae or pelvic floor physio to trial different size and style support pessaries to help you complete your family and minimise prolapse symptoms. Sex and prolapse is a great video suggestion, thank you! 🙏
@CynthiaNaijacynth it may be helpful for your mum to see a pelvic floor physiotherapist for pain management, assessment of her prolapse risk factors and prolapse treatment. Pelvic pain can make prolapse symptoms worse which needs to be addressed as a priority. Thank you for sharing, this helps other women too!
I successfully used a pessary for 5 years but ultimately needed a reco last year. My question is how safe is reformer Pilates? Since my reco I’ve avoided abs exercises but do spin, aquarobics, cycling & walking. I would love to add some core strengthening exercises but too scared.
I just had surgery for a rectocele. From what I understand a rectocele is the rectum bulging out of the vagina. A rectal prolapse actually comes out of the rectum. But if you are considering surgery, think long and hard. I had a rough recovery. 😢
@misslovestroy great question, these are different types of prolapse. A rectal prolapse involves rectal tissue protruding/coming out of the rectum. Rectocele involves the rectum moving into the back wall of the vagina, sometimes causing this back wall to protrude out of the vagina when severe/after bowel movements or with straining.
This is something that varies by individual. How your prolapse has occurred, how severe it is and what types of other issues are also occurring. Might be the type of pessary you’ve been given. You can try another type to see if that relieves your issues. Not everyone can avoid surgery though. If you can get a PT referral, definitely go through physiotherapy before choosing surgery.
@sakshigarg27 yes some forms of pessary can increase bladder incontinence. There is a specific ring pessary with a knob on one side designed to reduce bladder leakage and prolapse symptoms. A bladder prolapse can actually disguise bladder leakage by creating a kink in the urine tube. Then when the pessary ring is inserted, the kink may be straightened out which allows bladder leakage. This is why some women use the knob ring pessary and it's a good idea to discuss this with your gynaecologist or pelvic floor physio. Hoping this info is helpful! All the best
@@michellephysiodo you offer online consultation. Despite telling my problems my ural gynecologist never advised pessary with knob. Instead she was frustrated that I only crib about my issues and do not consider surgery. I would love to discuss with you.
@susieredish1595 yes prolapse may occur after hysterectomy. The research has been conflicting with regards to the likelihood of prolapse after hysterectomy. It can be helpful to seek assessment and treatment from a pelvic floor physiotherapist to know your individual risks of prolapse and reduce them where possible after hysterectomy. I hope this helps 🙏

is a rectocele the same as a rectal prolapse ?

Ohhh your horse is here ❤❤❤❤
Can prolapse or pessary lead to urine incontinence? I am facing urine incontinence issue which worsens on wearing pessary.
We have to learn how to empty bladder correctly try that first
