I'm 7 weeks post-op for hysterectomy, cystocele, rectocele, and vaginal vault prolapse repair. This is a long recovery. The rectocele was the hardest, but after week 5... I am feeling amazing. I only wish I did it 10 years ago. Fyi, I'm 44 with two grown kids. I just got to a point where I couldn't take it anymore. Many blessing to you all
@@melodyjane8301 How did you ever get anyone to help you? They just tell me tests & then therapy. Did that so many times without any results. I'm sure I have a bit of a rectal prolapse. It's a nightmare to evacuate. Like child birth! Many tines a day. Always constant pressure.
@Rebelhomeland you might need surgery but they are trying to make it your last option. I would encourage you to see a urogynocologist if your not already seeing one. Sometimes you may have to travel to another city to find a good one.
@@melco5489 I think I might try to find one. So tired of the constant control these problems & no life at all. The constant pain ain't very nice either. I had a life before that hysterectomy & after, no life at all.
@Rebelhomeland Is your doctor a regular gynocologist? They don't really deal with these issues and if they operate its only like for like hysterectomies. A urogynocologist will do it all and in fact they will diagnose you your first visit by measuring everything then making you pee in a bowl and measure that. They may make you do a cath too but it's worth it.
Your video has just provided me with huge relief. I have a prolapse.and have been feeling very depressed and as I am alone, very overwhelmed but this has really helped, thank you. I am having surgery in two weeks. In the meantime, more self care, meditation and deep breathing.
Had prolapse surgery about a year ago with a sling implant. Have watched and participated with your videos since I got clearance from gyno. I am back to how I was before but worse. I have extreme bladder spasms that cause me to pee all over myself. I'm going for a second option at this point. I'm considering using a pessary again. Did it before surgery with no relief. This video was so very helpful due to the anxiety I live with day to day with this issue.
Thank you for giving a heads up on this. I was wondering about that. Is that the same as a mesh??? I haven't seen a real doctor yet. Taking some antibiotics, think they help. (I got sick). But need to be evaluated.. I'm not peeing every 20 minutes anymore. And I'm constipated now because I've been eating cheese and yogurt. Even a bit of chocolate. So my thing a ma gig is getting a bit of a rest. But I'm going to have to go soon. I'm so sorry that your having such issues. Hope you can straighten it all out soon. Or rather In.
Mine began after a hysterectomy. Some Advice is be certain you really do need the surgery before you agree. If weight loss is needed, Do It. Exercices, Do it. Try to avoid this surgery. I didn’t understand how supportive the uterus and its ligaments are to help hold up our pelvic organs. My Dr never mentioned PostOp pelvic floor excercise to compensate for loosing this support. I do pelvic floor exercises daily and reduced my weight. Both have helped.
@auroranite great comment thank you - definitely not enough preop info for many women on the importance of weight management and pelvic floor exercises. Glad to read that these 2 strategies have been helpful for you
Your videos have been so helpful and encouraging! I had rectal prolapse surgery (laparoscopic) last week and am now recovering. I am not overweight and am 52 yrs old. I have had three babies. I’m so thankful for all your videos to help me understand this better!
I suspect i have prolapse, trying not to worry, this video has eased my stress level [i never get stressed], seeing doctor next week, thanks for the video x
@deborahstenton133 Hi Deb, yes I completely understand your worry. Deb there are very good (non-surgical) treatments available for prolapse if you do have one. I highly recommend seeing a pelvic floor physio to assist you too regardless of whether you are referred to a specialist or not. We help many women avoid the need for prolapse surgery and often work closely with our gynecologist and urogynae friends too. Sometimes a prolapse can be very mild but present with bothersome symptoms, a good assessment of your pelvic floor is required to know accurately, including standing upright and straining. Wishing you all the very best and thank you for taking the time to comment and share with other women. The more we as women and health proferssionals talk about prolapse and worry, the more we help the numerous other women experiencing the same 💕
@T M H thx 🙏 so much for sharing your positive outcome - this is important for women facing prolapse surgery to hear, often it’s only the horror stories that get heard when in fact there are many successes too. All the best! 🌸💕
I would add the surgery was not that painful, just have to wait quite awhile to resume relations. I do know that prolapse can recur, I would do it again in a heartbeat. It helped me have complete bowel elimination, and repaired any ripping of perineum and protrusion through pelvic wall. Just find a surgeon you trust who is experienced. Insurance covered the cost.

@Louise Alain I’m sorry to read about the issue you’re facing with your diagnosis, this must be making day to day life challenging for you indeed. Louise have you thought about trying a stationary bike for exercise? This can help you stay active without the discomfort associated with walking at the moment. My other suggestion in addition to Kegels and good bowel management is to avoid long walks in favour of short walks perhaps 2x10 min walks or even less according to your tolerance. How much does the modern day birthing methods contribute to prolapse ie pitocin drip to speed birth and lying on one's back with feet in stirrups when the body is made to give birth in squatting position. Due to this position, episiotomies are more necessary. All these methods are used to speed up labor and birth.

@@michellephysio thank you Michelle. The problem with surgery is that it cann work for now but there is a good chance of emergency surgery 20-25 years later.. my father in law had one emergency in his late 80s - hernia.. broken mesh problem and that surgery made him very ill, basically he succumbed to it and left us few days later. I do understand that technology is probably better now.. but I still think the risk is high that eventually the mesh will deteriorate and cause major problems later in life. That's the dilemma for many women in our 40s and 50s
@@billyje4726 poor connective tissues means lax ligaments. When your ligaments are too loose, your muscles works overtime to stabilize your joints. Constant muscle strain gives you tense, knotted muscles.
Mine also began after what was supposed to be a routine viginal hysterectomy. I had a fibroid tumor & the Dr. said it gad attached itself to my bowels & colon & feeding off them. He said he had to unattach it. But somehow in the process he tied off or clamped off a blood vein to my Urethra tube & caused part of it to die. Then he had to open me wide open from belly button to pubic hair. Cut out the dead & splice it back togather. That was in 2007. I have been to multiple specialist & they do the same things over & over. Tell me to do the pelvic wall therapy. Which I have done multiple times with no help. At first it was like something was blocking the poop. Then I took enough laxatives to get that to move. But there is definitely a kinda hernia inside. If I use a suppository & push that back. I can it sounds gross, but it's my life can dig it out. That's my life. Not one Dr. has ever really examined me. They just put me through all the same horrible tests. Colonoscpy the MRI. the CT. and the specialist I've seen are by far the worst. The top specialist in the 2 nearest big towns by far the worst. Colon rectal specialist & pelvic wall speacilist. Prep for Colonoscpy doesn't really work. And I've had many. They can never get through completely. It's a debilitating way to live. Just pray everyday for God to take me from this earth. Or heal me. I have lost track of how many years it has been. 67 now & never had any problems until that botched surgery. Even making a trip to a Dr. sends me into a panic attack. With the nearest specialty 3 hrs away & to poor really for the expense. The 10 seconds of there time & telling me I'm going to have to set on a xray machine or Colonoscpy, torture at best. Then be told just do pelvic wall therapy & it will fix you up. My local GI Dr. Just keep telling me to have my colon removed. Ya, the surgery that started all of this! We will start taking more body parts out & that will take care of everything! What kind of a a OBG clamps off the blood vein to your uretha tube & I keep telling him something is wrong. When he finally listened to me. They did a ultrasound & my intestines where no longer visible from all the backed up urine! Then off course much later the first Colonoscpy showed the tortures intestines which my GP meant the intestines where twisted & no one even told me about that until a few years had went by. I was like do you think that could cause a problem? Oh no just do the pelvic wall therapy will fix everything. NOT! It pretty much has destroyed any quality of life. And I'm on UTube again searching for help & answers. I wish sometimes I had cancer so someone would listen & help me.

What do you think about estrogen cream for vaginal use if tissues are tender...after menopause, age 64, should that be used before she uses a pessary? How do we find out how our muscle works down there whether to engage in kegels or not?
I have IBS with intermittent diarrhea and constipation. For the past 10 days it has been severe constipation. I am very health conscious, eat nutritiously, exercise, drink plenty of water, etc. I have had hemorrhoids for years, but they have not been bothersome and always went away on their own. I now have a large marble size protrusion and I don't know if it is a rectal proplapse or the worsening hemorrhoid. I couldn't get an appointment with a gastroenterologist until another 2 weeks... In the meantime, I am very anxious.
@MEDICAL LEARNING kegel exercises before and after surgery have the same exercise technique. The number of exercises performed and the positions may vary according to what the individual can comfortably manage pre and post op. When commencing Kegels after surgery I suggest starting with gentle contractions rather than sting contractions pre op to gain maximal strength prior to surgery. I hope this helps 🙏🥰
@@michellephysio thank you very much for ur guidance..stay blessed. Another question is stationary bike cycling safe after prolapse surgery as exercise (1year post surgery)any risk ..because walking or running increases pressure-effects,ur guidance is appreciated.

I have recently been dx with prolapse (bladder) by my Prmary Care Doc... am referred to Urogynocolgist (who I see in 3 mos!!) and also pelvic floor therapist who I just saw yesterday. Meanwhile, I had been continuting doing PT for sciatica which I've had since early last fall. These exercises include "core strengthening exercises" like planking and "dead bug" and also the "shotgun" maneauver for the SI joint. I'm thinking I should stop the planking and the shotgun, ( I watched your other video) ...but my PT was just like... " oh, just be careful you aren't pushing down". What do you think?
This is a great video with lots of valuable information and I do think you're an angel, Michelle, however please would you rethink your stance regarding kegels in light of the new evidence from physio, Anna Crowle. She has shown that kegels can worsen prolapse symptoms in many people by causing excessive tension in the fascia (connective tissue). I have found this myself after 6 years of diligent daily kegeling and am only now starting to find some relief with the help of a physio trained by Anna in the use of myofascial release. This form of gentle release work where there is scar tissue or extreme tension gradually enables the prolapse affected areas to return to their normal position. I gave up kegeling and have been trying this method myofascial release for a month now and have seen my cystocele reduce form stage 3 to stage 2 already. Since I am post menopausal and my tissues are therefore weaker, I may not find complete cure but the way it's going I should be able to manage my symptoms more easily this way. Thank you for all that you do...I just ask that you take a look at this new approach which may have just saved me from surgery 🙏💞
@ Amanda McCrea many thanks indeed for the info, would you mind sending me the new research or a link please either here or support@pelvicexercises.com.au? Currently Kegels are recommended as first line intervention for women with PFM weakness with stages mild to mod prolapse. If a woman presents with increased pelvic floor muscle tension and prolapse then this is a different scenario altogether and Kegels are not recommended as first line, rather PF relaxation which may/maynot include myofascial release followed by Kegels to restore PFM strength. Tightness actually causes weakness which sounds strange but true so the weakness still needs to be addressed. This is a minority of prolapse patients, the majority have prolapse owing to PF muscle deficiency from weakness or dyscontrol which increases the load on the supporting fascia and ligaments. Look forward to reading the new research Amanda, many thanks indeed! 🙏🌺

Hi Michelle, Yesterday night i started bing watching your videos. I have been in pain everytime i go to the toilet. i have been using the squat method for 2 years now. today i tried your moo method and it was the first time the stool didnt touch the hemmoroid area and i went pain free. i am in such shock. and i cant thank you enough. what is your opinion on the squat method. im wondering if this method was causing the problem all along?
@amz carpo I'm so glad the technique helped you. It works by relaxing the pelvic floor and generating pressure within the waist form the sides rather than pushing down through the anus. I can tell you that deep squatting increases pressure through the rectum and anus. Perhaps trial the seated brace and bulge technique and see how it works for you moving forward - this might be the best option to help you manage. remember that this technique relies upon having a soft well-formed stool so diet is also an important consideration see here ruclips.net/video/TSRbYpWSTxI/видео.html I hope this helps and all the best to you! 🙏 ❤️

I’m 24 and had worked squatting and lifting in a warehouse for a few years and I truly feel that I may have a prolapse. Intercourse feels abnormally tight and uncomfortable and I want to confirm my concerns and maintain Kegel exercises to try to relieve or possibly cure this feeling.
@Jackie Thomas this really depends on prolapse severity. Some women with mild - mod prolapse won’t have trouble with elliptical while others with severe prolapse may have terrible difficulty even walking. Stationary bike is often one of the best cardio exercise options with prolapse problems, I hope this info helps and all the best! 🙏

I had an episiotomy and it messed me up so bad. I had problems for 14 years until I couldn't stand it anymore. Now I'm 44 and feel so much better . Best of luck for you I try to reach out to any women to let them know you're not alone.

With pessary, do they need to be taken out and cleaned or replaced every so often? If yes, how often? or they stay in there indefinitely? Any side effects at all ?
@theresa94010 Yes pessary devices are removed and checked regularly by the specialist and then reinserted. Some women experience side effects if the pessary is the incorrect size or style, or if the vaginal walls are thinning. You can discuss this with your gynecologist first.
I take mine out every day and wash it. I don't wear it to bed because there's no pelvic pressure at that time. Doing all that I feel more comfortable knowing that I'm not encouraging any bacterial build-up that could cause infection.
@aubreeplad6314 Thank you for your comment! Managing prolapse during pregnancy can be challenging, but there are steps you can take to help alleviate symptoms and prevent further worsening. It's important to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized advice and guidance. All the best to you for your pregnancy and upcoming birth 🙏 ❤️
@Joann Kujaski great question! Leg press may have the potential to increase downwards pressure on the pelvic floor, especially with straining/heavy loads.

Hello Michelle, im 22 with a stage one uterine prolapse, extremely weak pelvic floor, urinary incontinence, and a three-and-a-half finger middle ab separation. I have been doing physical therapy for three months now. yes the therapy has helped with the ab separation and some things with the urinary incontinence but im still peeing myself which is causing me to have skin irritation. My vagina is sitting lower than what it used to. I have an emergency c-section due to a breeched baby who was 9.9lbs. IDK what else I should do. I dont feel like im in my own body anymore and im tried of all these issues. They are making me choose to not have any more kids and I have one. I have cut out all alchol, limit my caffiene intake, and drink only water. Any Advice?
I am suffering from prolapse after birth too. Talk to your gynecologist about the use of a pessary and continue with the exercises. Healing does take months! Don't give up.
2. Didn't strain before, have always been a healthy weight (but eating less never helps only thing was exercise which has all sorts of limits now that there's prolapse), can't undo my stage 3 with pelvic floor exercises they can only keep from getting worse which I'll have to worry about doing regularly from my age of 30 onwards so over half my life yay! Pessary requires more maintenance and possibly doctor visits that I can't afford. Thanks! my anxiety is cured. whew.... 4. Relating to the surgeon doesn't make a surgery not fail. Who worries that a partner will "notice" don't long term partners generally share personal information, it'd surely come up with doctor/therapy visits and surgery, or whatever. They may worry about sexual disfunction which isn't an unfounded worry.

@@happydays3678 Even in her reply to me she said "prolapse can be a nightmare long-term." Hi Michelle, would you recommend cycling as an exercise with a bladder prolapse? I thought that it would put more pressure on the area therefore not advised. Also I feel a lot of pain after doing Kegels exercise. Not during the exercises so I don't think I am doing wrong. I am able to hold for 7 seconds. Do you think I have started doing too much too quickly? I am doing 2x a day but last night I was in a lot of pain. My bladder fells full and irritated for hours after I do the kegels. Makes me so confused.
@Aline Almeida 2 questions I’ll answer each in turn. 1. Cycling is usually a great form of exercise for bladder prolapse. It supports the pelvic floor. 2. Kegels should be pain free during and afterwards. It may be that you’re not completely relaxing your pelvic floor muscles in between exercises and afterwards or that you’re pushing down rather than lifting inwards during your exercise. It would be worth seeing a pelvic floor physio to assist you with knowing how to do your Kegel exercise technique correctly if pain persists as this should not be occurring. All the best! 🙏

Women r not that friendly to their fellow sister to talk to help another. It seems taboo subject. They want to keep it a secret. U hv to think they never had a problem Why.??????
@JaneyD yes indeed such a shame that we can’t discuss this openly when this is a major problem so many women suffer from & feel ashamed about. It’s as though we need to keep up the appearance of perfection rather than normal and from the stats having a prolapse is pretty normal. Thanks 🙏 so much for commenting 💕
@@michellephysio thank you Michelle. It has now become quite a problem for me as I now have bladder trouble. This item made me fone the urine nurse who didn't get back to me when I missed her call. Many blessing to you all
Thank you so much
@@melodyjane8301 How did you ever get anyone to help you?

How did the surgery go
Had prolapse surgery about a year ago with a sling implant.
Is Your surgery don't work
Thank you for giving a heads up on this.

The more we as women and health proferssionals talk about prolapse and worry, the more we help the numerous other women experiencing the same 💕
I had it at age 43. Lots of pregnancies, one being twins. Long recovery, but super worth it. Everything works as it should down there as before.

FYI, Kegel exercises can actually do more harm to those of us with hypertonic pelvic floor due to joint instability.
In what way more harm?
@@billyje4726 our muscles tend to be more tight and have knots, which cause pain. We need to relax the knots. Levels just make them worse.
@@mandyrobbins2160 Okay. Makes sense. What is the connection to joint instability? Hyperflexibility/Weakness of connective tissues?

Oh ya, I have the diagnosed pelvic wall dysfunction & IBS which I never had either until the day after the botched hysterectomy!
My problems are all rectal. They say my muscles won't relax. And at first it was supposed to be from the tramitic surgery experience. There us nothing but trama in my life after & most of it us family & Dr. Fear.
I am so very sorry for all you've endured 💔🙏

Ca u plz explain exercises for prolapse before surgery and after surgery ..
To prevent recurrence.

Can rectal prolapse in male cause constipation or mimic ibs constipation?
Yes I think so
I have recently been dx with prolapse (bladder) by my Prmary Care Doc... am referred to Urogynocolgist (who I see in 3 mos!!) and also pelvic floor therapist who I just saw yesterday.
Good questions, and it seems we get different kinds of answers all the time. But I am learning too.
@
Amanda McCrea many thanks indeed for the info, would you mind sending me the new research or a link please either here or support@pelvicexercises.com.au?

Would exercising on an elliptical be ok for a woman with bladder and uterus prolapse?
@Jackie Thomas this really depends on prolapse severity. Some women with mild - mod prolapse won’t have trouble with elliptical while others with severe prolapse may have terrible difficulty even walking. Stationary bike is often one of the best cardio exercise options with prolapse problems, I hope this info helps and all the best! 🙏

U r going to be fine and free from problem .I m schedule for it .God bless you ❤
The pessary should stay put if it's the correct size. I was told to let surgery be the very last resort. Hope this is not too late to help you (6 months late...)
Can I get exercise book ?
@KshitijPawashe yes definitely here is the link to download the book www.pelvicexercises.com.au/pelvic-exercise-products/prolapse-exercises/prolapse-exercises-ebook/ all the best 🙏
And what if you suffering from scar tissues
Hello Michelle. I've been diagnosed with uterine prolapse and would like to use the stair master machine on gym for cardio. Do you think it is a safe machine for prolapse? I hope you will respond. :)
I'd use an elliptical machine
Any Advice?
Oh sweetheart. How are you???
@ ESWilliams09 I totally hear you, prolapse can be a nightmare long-term and I’m not suggesting in any way it’s an easy fix. Thank you for posting and I wish you all the best
🙏🌺
What's with the attitude?
Surely no need to speak that way, most people here will have some prolapse issues. Michelle is very kindly offering us information and expert advice.
@@happydays3678 Even in her reply to me she said "prolapse can be a nightmare long-term." It's that knowledge in being educated on the condition and knowing all the things that you have to do or give up to keep your symptoms from getting worse or knowing what could go wrong with surgery that IS anxiety inducing. She's not an expert on mental health.
Which pessary size is for Urethra Prolapse?
14:43 14:43
Your gynecologist or urogynecologist will have a kit with different sizes and they can determine the size by trying different sizes in you.
My nurse ordered me 3 different sizes of ring pessary x
Hi Michelle, would you recommend cycling as an exercise with a bladder prolapse?
maam i am 18 and i dont know if i have rectal prolapse or not.... i dont have any constipation for a year i dont bleed ....no leakage of feaces ...but i feel discomfort while doing bowel movement and while sitting on a chair soetimes i feel my rectum doesnt empty after bowel movement..i feel weakness in anus muscles after running.. i feel heavy ... do i have rectal prolapse?
@Gour Monday this needs a proper assessment to know - there are many different rectal issues that can cause this, I wonder if your pelvic floor muscles are too tight and not releasing perhaps.
@@michellephysio i dont know i had slight urine retention from past one year but there were no symptoms of rectal prolapse..... can urine retention cause rectal prolapse....? i didnt have any pelvic issues earlier i have bowel movement 5 days in a week
Urine retention is nothing to do with recital prolapse - can be caused by a vaginal prolapse or tight pelvic floor muscles along with other potential causes in men and women
@@michellephysio can it happen that due to urine retention pressure increased in my pelvic floor and these symptoms occured ......can it be another problem because of that i feel pressure in my rectum plz reply ma'am

Hi Mam! This is Urgent My Mom is not unable to urine plz tell the solution.(Urine Stopped)
Go to ER……. Now!!!
@@drnudhairahmed I hope they went!! My friend had a disc out of place and couldnt urinate. Bless you for telling them to go to ER.
@@deirdremorris9234 I hope so too..... Slip disc is a physical and painful situation, and almost everybody consults a physician.... But when you stop urinating people try to wait it out at first... Some overhydrate.... Which could be EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.... My advice... If you couldn't urinate for 24hrs and you have comorbidities... Go to ER.... they'll do a simple renal workup... If nothing, then you can think it as dehydration..... Sorry for boring with details but you don't know how many patients I've seen who suffered because of this.....

Have suprapubic catheter. Have had hysterectomy. Now have bowel prolapse into vagina plus lump inside front of vagina.
I also have a rectocele and what I believe is onset of a cystocele. I'm hoping surgery isn't needed. My vagina feels like it's freaking closing off from the inside. It's scary and I'm only 37! It's affecting my personal relationship with my partner. Idk what to do. :(

Ma'am, make a video on how to get rid of man boobs basing on scientific exercises.
@Raju Bhukya this is all about whole body weight loss - it’s the only way. This is a problem some men suffer called gynecomastia and it’s caused by hormonal imbalance. Diet and exercise can help as well as hormone treatments available from the doctor. It’s an interesting topic, I’ll look into it more for you
@@michellephysio Ma'am kindly suggest me some exercises please.
Women r not that friendly to their fellow sister to talk to help another. It seems taboo subject. They want to keep it a secret. U hv to think they never had a problem
Why.??????
@JaneyD yes indeed such a shame that we can’t discuss this openly when this is a major problem so many women suffer from & feel ashamed about. It’s as though we need to keep up the appearance of perfection rather than normal and from the stats having a prolapse is pretty normal. Thanks 🙏 so much for commenting 💕
@@michellephysio thank you Michelle. It has now become quite a problem for me as I now have bladder trouble. This item made me fone the urine nurse who didn't get back to me when I missed her call. I feel there is not enough effort and understanding put into this problem. Its not taken seriously. But I've started the ball rolling again so fingers crossed 🤞.
Good luck! Keep pushing until you get the treatment you require Janey & stay strong ❤️
