Amazing vlog/video. I am english and i live in France and about to see a gynecologist about a possible prolapse. Although i speak fluent french, this video with its explanations and use of medical terms in subtitles has set me up excellently for my appointment and discussions. Thank you.
Very informative. My main takeaway is not to be fearful because the op's are not such a big deal but that it is important to have the right surgeon. This is always hit and miss in the UK under the NHS because you don't get to pick and choose!
Thank you both for sharing such informative education regarding pelvic organ prolapse. Great content, and thank you for using your platform to help those of us have a better and more accurate understanding. This is such a delicate issue. Not to mention scary!
I came across your video just after looking up what prolapse really is and looking for treatment. I've had to wear pads for about 25 years now. Sometimes small pads but while im sick with a cough n sneezing it's the big pads and minimum of liquids for sure. So I just got off phone with a prolapse surgery suggesting full uterine removal. Of which responded with, let me research more about this matter before committing. And Dr was way to eager for me to just get it done. So with that being said.. What do I look for in a Prolapse professional surgeon? A second opinoin for sure.
Sorry for the length of this comment. I see another woman had a very similar concern/question. I had a high utero sacral ligament and rectocele surgery in Oct. At first it felt great not to have "that bulge" but I feel "something" in my rectum that is making it a challenge to have a bowel movement. I asked my surgeon about this - three times now - and he just says that sometimes the rectocele surgery creates a bulge in the rectum and the stool just needs to go around it to pass. Uhh; not pleased. OK, fine. I just need to contort on the toilet to eliminate waste. Ugh. But now I have an anterior prolapse. It seems my "front" wants to fall as well. My surgeon says that the first surgery looks great and that I can wait on a second surgery without any concern. As long as I "can deal" with the prolapse (no pain and urinating fine) there is no rush. However, my defecation situation is causing my front prolapse to feel worse. In other words, when I try to go to the bathroom the pushing is not good for the prolapse. To alleviate the "straining" I take a laxative. That just brings about diarrhea, no formed stool. I've tried different types of things to help my elimination situation and getting more frustrated. I do not want to have another surgery and make my GI tract go to sleep again. Nor do I want to have a mesh (which is what my surgeon told me he would do with this second surgery) because I am fearfully afraid of any negative impact on my bladder. In fact, my surgeon for full disclosure told me that there may be some mesh visible after a few years since it may come through the muscle tissue. Huh?!! Are there any cystocele type surgeries/anterior vaginal prolapse procedures that do not involve a mesh? Any help out there besides surgical? I do Kegels and try not to sit a lot. That seems to help. Trying not to be discouraged.
So I just had a uterus prolapse January 23rd or 2024 with a stereo and posterior repair I opt out of getting the bladder sling so I do have the bladder leakage right now I'm in PT trying to build those pelvic walls I don't know much about the bladder Botox the doctor suggested it I really do not want mesh do you think that if I continue to do the kegels this will stop the bladder leakage?
Thank you so much sharing your expertise on this matter do the fact stage 3 uterine prolapse, I went to two different GYN drs. When doctor put a pessary in but fell out later!! 4 months later I'm still trying to get help to fix this. Thank you for the information and the way you explain things made it so easy for me to understand you both of you are absolutely amazing ❤
I am in the UK & awaiting a Hysterectomy. & Pelvic floor repair , I have a Pessary in place at present my 3rd one since 5th April 2024 ( 1st one 5th April , 2nd one 3rd May then a few days ago 6th June 2024 ) I can only seem to hold on to them on average 3/4 weeks . My last one is a bigger one from my first ( first. 72 latest I think 89) under normal circumstances I think they should last for 4/6 months each fitting , hope I can hold it in longer. My Prolapse is severe though & it's very hard to put back by the Doctor each time & I dread the procedure every time. The Doctor who will be performing my operation ( I've been told 1 year plus waiting time ) she explained the operation , which will be a Vaginal Hysterectomy & Repair & that she will put some kind of Stitch during the Op which will be for life , she said I will be in Hospital for about a day . Maybe some of the terms & words you both use during your video sound different but may mean the same thing here , anyway I love your video & comments you both are very good in your explanations , I only wish either one of you were doing my Operation , thank you ❤❤
Thank you for this informative discussion on POP. It is the best that I have seen, discussing everything and explaining all aspects of dealing with POP. I would like to know what medical professional would be the first best choice to see regarding a POP; urologist, gynecologist, uro-gynecologist, and should this choice be a surgeon as well?
I have a rectocele and cystocele. It's due to my third baby having severe shoulder dystocia. I delivered his head and they had to push it back in. I had a very emergent c section. They tore my cervic,my uterus and my bladder. He was 9lbs 14 oz. let me tell you my son is wonderful after so many complications. He stayed OT PT and Speech therapy and 4 months old. 26 years later I'm ready to have surgery. Which do you suggest? A urogynocologist or a colorectal surgeon? It is much easier to find a colorectal surgeon
My prolapse was caused when the doctor had me push out my breach baby and the placenta didn’t come out so I was put to sleep with the gas and he yanked the placenta out causing my uterus to prolapse….I was 33 at the time, I’m now 42 and you can’t imagine what I’ve gone through with that prolapse…I think I’m being punished by Gad for not being such a good person in the past…no one should have to live like this…the shame, the discomfort, the inability to empty completely…then these doctors are quick to suggest taking your uterus…well, I learned a lot from your videos, thank you…might travel to Washington just see you. Oh, and my bandy didn’t survive.
I am so sorry you went through all of this. 😢 I had my child in 2006 and he attempted to be born breach. They reached in and turned him around three different times. It was horrible 😤!!! And then once in place they used a vacuum to get him out. I would’ve been happy with a C-section.
Hi Kelly, as directed by you I watched your video on prolapse. It was so educational & you are a wonderful teacher, I have rectocele grade 2, bladder prolapse grade 1 to 2,uterine prolapse grade 2. I use a ring pessary all the time, I saw surgeon this week who recommended vaginal hysterectomy. I am 49, any thoughts ? Thanks so much 🙏
You should try and educate women about connective tissue disorder… aka dysplasia. Women should understand if they have it (many have no idea they have it) because they are a a greater risk. There are also mineral deficiencies folks living with dysplasia are prone to. Supplementing with minerals is a lot more beneficial and a lot less dangerous than supplementing with synthetic hormones.
Hi i have a bladder prolapse prolapse and now at 50 years old I have so many symptoms from pressure, pain in my pelvic are, back pain and I feel can't empty my bladder but i have bladder leakage. Any advice?
Does Dr Ephraim have any collegues on the West Coast? I am looking to have surgery for Bladder and Uterus prolapse. I'm looking to understand the difference in the techniques... Specifically Robotic vs Vaginal?
I know. Been researching. Vaginal method good for simple bladder droop. They just sew it to muscle up higher. And no anethesia. Just local numbing From lower tummy, outside they can do a small cut and go in with narrow instruments and repair the dropsy.😅. And general anesthesia is needed . This is what I gather .
It can happen at any age. Especially if you have a lot of constant pressure from being constipated. But also if you have EDS...Another issue is diet and mineral/vitamin deficiency which affect everything in our bodies.
Pessaries r a pain and too hard ro remove . I had 2 . 2 dr s gave me widely difrent sizes . Stuck w little one rhen it gave me a pinch. Took it out for mo.s. Got worse.. stuck it in, hard to position, came out . When it is in I have to keep pushing the driipt rhing back up.inro it and I gwt pinxhes when it gwts out a bit. Read up on surgery . Only one w no knok out where they tack it back up there. I,m old but need a O once in awhile and my clit is gone on outside!needs poking from inside. Want no closing up. That sounds wrong for anyone . Why can they use a fine screen mesh that will not embed in walls? Why do they tell us childbirth is not harmful ? It ruiNs your whole pelvis.

Mine was caused by carrying, lifting & turning patients.
