    This is my new favorite kitchen tool! Day 1 I was going to pressure cook a meat ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and potato stew, decided I wouldn't eat it that night so I went with a slow cook so I could go to bed and put it away in the morning. I love that versatility! The sauté feature works great and adds tons of extra flavor to dishes, and I can easily sizzle meats in the bottom then deglaze for some restaurant worthy flavors.Big bonus - you can cook a whole frozen chicken in about 2 hours. Amazing! I've seen a couple videos, haven't tried it yet, but I will soon!

    To make it a complete healthy meal, after taking out the grilled chicken from the pot I add in my 1 cup washed quinoa into the liquid and cook it for 1 min high pressure and 10 mins NPR. This makes the quinoa extremely delish as the liquid in the pot is very close to chicken broth. I've been making this as my meal prep for weekday lunches and it serves me for 3 meals. Cheers!

    I just ordered ip lux 60. I should have done a little research but I have a cuisinart pc and it was refurbished which I bought last year. It works great but I had hear not good Teflon coated inner pots so I uptrend for the IP. So I'm glad you blogged about the lux 60. And I will be on the lookout and watching your videos for your ideas and hints.

      I hope you enjoy it! I have since bough a second IP - the Duo, and I love it too. There's not much difference, though. I thought I may try to make yogurt in it, but I haven't yet. Yes, I like having the stainless steel inner pot in the IP. I saw that they just releases a ceramic insert as well (used for slow cooking setting on the IP). Interesting! I'm not sure I would use it much, though.

    Great video thanks. Since you have a stainless steel pot (my bobo brand is a nonstick pot 😝) if you used chicken stock instead of water you could whip up a gravy or pan sauce afterwards...

    You made me hoot when you said you got rid of the bread machine AND the crockpot. I didn't realize you''re into miinimizing. NOW I see why I end up at your blog downloading recipes all the time. I did the very same thing because of minimizing! So funny. It scared my dog when I reacted to that! Thanks so much for this recipe. Like you mentioned, my chicken was either soggy or dry. I just needed your advice. The bit about the water was helpful. I will now apply that to other recipes that have meat on the trivet. THANKS!

    You won’t get dried out meat with enough liquid. 15 mins. even with sautéing will give you tough chewy chicken. 35 mins (frozen) yield tender succulent chicken breasts.

    I was given an instant pot for Christmas
    Just started to use it
    So I make chicken breasts every week for lunch and for pot pies or other things
    I buy like 4 pd packages and butterfly them as they are usually thick
    So my question is should I do this three times to cook only three or four at a time or do the whole lot in one shot
    Been cooking since I was 11 and let's just say that was some time ago
    Made just about everything from crepes to bread to homemade pirogies and a lot more
    Your help would be appreciated

    • @apinchofhealthy
      @apinchofhealthy  6 лет назад +1

      I don't know the answer for sure since I haven't done that many at once myself. 🤔 I do think you could get away with 2 batches though - 2 pounds in each batch. I would not recommend butterflying them with the cook time suggested in this recipe. Or if you do butterfly them, reduce the cook time even more (not sure by how much) because they will cook way faster. Wish I was more help! Let me know if you end up trying the big batch. I'd be curious to see if they all cook through.

    • @peterpiper_203
      @peterpiper_203 6 лет назад

      A Pinch of Healthy
      Thank you
      Did see that you mentioned not to butterfly after I post my question
      I will follow your recipe the first time I do this
      Next time I will try the batch
      What I did was purchase A metal bowl and a colander that will fit inside of it and the plan was to put some in the bowl and some in the colander while sitting on top of the trivet and that's how I would batch cook them
      So they wouldn't be right on top of one another
      thanks again for your reply
      you think that would work that way
      again this is new to me

      Angelica Casas Newer models don’t have “manual”.They have “pressure cook” instead.

  • @lindaely7611
    @lindaely7611 6 лет назад +2

    how do you cook on "natural release", do you change a setting on the Instant Pot? I have an Ultra, so I'm not sure how to do that?

    • @apinchofhealthy
      @apinchofhealthy  6 лет назад +2

      You just let it sit after the cook time is counted down and over (without using quick release lever) for 5 minutes. Your digit display will say something like (L005), which means the heat has been turned off for 5 minutes, and the pot has been on keep warm. And then after 5 minutes, use the lever to release the remaining pressure. Hope that makes sense!

    I have a brand new 6 qt inst pot. You use lingo I don’t know. High manual?I need step by step lid on and each button with camera on what you push. Mine is dif from you, I got the sauté part. Cup water, trivia, chicken in. But..5 min. On high manual, no button that says that for me? 5 min more for gentle cooking? Buttons? What ever I did, chicken tastes good and not dry! Lol. I really like u. Happy 1st bday to daughter. 1st watch of u and it’s October 2019.

    • @sandragriffin8146
      @sandragriffin8146 4 года назад

      I have the Crock Pot version of the instant pot (Express Pot, it is called) - it also doesn't have a manual button, but the directions say to sue the bean button for manual, so that's what I do and it works out perfectly.

  • @lissalou7642
    @lissalou7642 6 лет назад

    I made this recipe as my first IP meal tonight. It seemed like it took forever to reach the cook phase and steam leaked out the sides of the lid, plus float valve never rose. What did I do wrong? Chicken cooked however!

    • @apinchofhealthy
      @apinchofhealthy  6 лет назад +1

      If steam is leaking out the sides of the lid, it means your pot is not sealed. It sounds like your silicone sealing ring may be installed improperly. 🤔 Funny story - I have actually forgotten the sealing ring altogether several times.🙈😂 And the steam did like you described.

    what's the difference between natural release and quick release?

    • @apinchofhealthy
      @apinchofhealthy  7 лет назад +1

      Hi Becky! Quick release uses the lever to release the pressure quickly. When you leave it sealed until the pressure indicator pin drops on its own - that is called natural release. It usually takes a little longer.
