you should! each country is unique in its own way. Dozens to hundreds of tribes in each country, each with its own dialect. Even the security situation is exaggerated. I spent 9 years in East Africa, 6 in central, and one so far in the West. I still have so much to see that i wonder would i even get the time. the continent is amazing and has good future ahead no matter what the media says.

This was so interesting and I found myself saying no wonder Ethiopian are so beautiful. Literally some of the most radiant/ vibrant people I've seen. (It's there diet❤❤❤)
Thank you! As a proud Ethiopian who grew up in the city, I’ve always wanted to learn more about the strong tribes who survived (continue to survive) harsh environments. This is a great lesson for all of us who think material possession or climbing the endless academic ladder is a success. It is rare to find someone in the cities who is happy with what they have and say I’ve got enough. Having said that I understand these tribes need help in maintaining their existence and thanks for showing them to the entire world.
They are not surviving "harsh environments" they're close to starvation, even the clan leaders are skin and bones. There's a quiet famine going on in southern ethiopia !!!
@@gonderAmh I dont see anyone from ethiopia here saying this. You are white guy. Also the people in the tradtitional look very well fed. Older people being Fat is a western thing. Here in germany 87% of men over 50 are medically obese too. Being thin at old age is healthy
Years ago I had 2 coworkers from Ethiopia, one Oromo and one Tigray. They agreed on nothing - one pro-government, one anti; one devout Christian, one atheist; one from the village, one from Addis Ababa - except they agreed that their country had the best food. Ethiopian food is incredible. I'll never forget the first time I had it. If you've never had it, injera is your utensil. Remember that when you eat it for the first time. You don't use forks or spoons, injera is your delicious tool!
I’m so glad to see the women from the village enjoying herself when she’s not around her husband 😂 she was drinking and smoking at the party while “buying groceries”. Iconic moment.
I can't get over how diverse Ethiopia is. As an Afro Canadian I was exposed to the same imagery as any Canadian and thought that Ethiopians were a lot more homogeneous. I'm glad I was wrong. They are a beautiful diverse people. Thank you for letting us explore the world through your eyes Sonny! ❤
I tried Ethiopian food once in Berlin, it was bomb and felt so similar to food from my country that is India. The similar tastes made it feel close to home.
As an orthodox Christian the part when they fed each other melted my heart. I love Ethiopian brothers and sisters in Christ. I wish i could have faithful wife from there and spend my life with everyday love. God blessed the simplicity of their manners. Much love❤☦️
It's like going back to the past food made from scratch unique and original flavors everything looks 100% natural what an original country, beautiful culture ❤
Sonny's documentaries are a gift, providing insights into diverse cuisines and cultures. Ethiopian viewers are grateful for the representation and knowledge shared.
The food looks good even if simple. I had to grow up due to low educated parents with canned and bagged foods and ready made shit. Even she cooked cow stomach with onions and potato looks better
Just love the way you show respect for the different cultures. You showed love and joined in the eating of food without freaking out or mean comments. You are a genius more opportunities will be opened for you. I wish I can do that I learnt something ❤
With all the raw things Sonny has eaten over the years, I would love to see what an analysis of his gut microbiome looks like compared to the average american
What sets your content apart is its unfiltered authenticity; you boldly embrace whatever comes your way, without the constraints of selectivity or bias. It's a testament to your pure curiosity and unadulterated passion for the raw truth.
As a food lover, I am always impressed by Sonny's videos which are not just stories about food but also tell us about the cultures and lives of the people associated with it. It makes a viewer respect the dishes, even if they may not be enjoyed in their different cultures. In this video, i couldn't help but smile at the background music at 2:37 which includes someone reciting "The Lord's Prayer" in Luganda, a local language from Uganda my home country!
@@Lord_of_the_Pies I agree with you but mind you these people have eaten these meals over and over agian and must have developed some type of immunity. This single video promotes Ethiopia and its culture far more than what Ethiopia’s Ministry of culture and tourism is doing. Huge respect for the whole team ❤.
You’re an inspiration, Sonny! Can’t help but eat up every new release and see some great vibes and new cultures. You really are a tool for all of us to learn about people we may have otherwise never known existed in our lives. Thanks for this Africa series! I’ve always wanted to know about the cultures my blood came from!
Sonny, This was such an insightful video. Some of the dishes looked tasty but as for the raw meat, the blood, I just don't see how you got it swallowed without gagging and perhaps hurting their feelings I have to say that I really enjoyed how genuinely nice and hospitable the ppl of Ethiopia are. The one young wife had it all going on with her alcohol and tabaco and even had her girlfriend doing her hair! I have a difficult time with slaughtering animals. I spent some very young years of my life on a farm that in every sense of the word, was a working farm. 365 days a year. Come rain or come shine, hell or high water, tornados and twisters. It was a self sustaining farm. We grew our own fruits and vegetables. Canned our food and stored root crops in our root seller. Milked our own cows and made our own butter, had fresh cream milk everyday. We raised hogs and made our own sausage and smoked our own bacon and ham. Made pickles and Sauerkraut as well. We all worked hard but my little heart got so broken when the very animals that I had been feeding everyday and loving on was being slaughtered. Chickens, cows being loaded up to go to the slaughter house. I think you get it. To this day, It breaks my heart. The only way I can get through it is to make their death as quick and pain free and respectful as is possible. I thank GOD for HIS provision. Then I am somewhat okay. But I don't think anyone or anything could make me drink warm blood. My Uncle used to make blood sausage every season. It was on the meat platter along with the red-eye ham steaks, bacon, and eggs fried in bacon fat, I was always a curious one about cuisines of all kinds and willing to sample, once at least. That particular early morning, as the meat platter was being passed in front of me,y Uncle asked me if I wanted to try some and I said yes, just a little please, not knowing of what, I had gotten myself into. It wasn't bad but the irony aftertaste I just couldn't deal with. Everything else, fabulous! I see you have developed your pallett to experience and enjoy some of my gastronomy tastes that are absolute deal breakers for me. Great video Sonny. I love learning about all the food, culture, social mores. I really do appreciate your respect, participation and the humbleness and fun you have enjoying all kinds of ppl. Memories that areore precious than gold. Thanks Sonny for taking me along. See you next time.😊🌊🌊🌊🌊
I would just explain to them how different it is for me. And maybe still atleast taste out of courtesy. Just close your eyes and imagine youre eating strawberry
Love how he moves through a country trying all the different cultures within the country. Gives a more nuanced idea of the country. He has a brave, brave stomach, and strong mind to be able to explore all the foods he does. People are so welcoming to him. He and his team appear to be good to the locals where ever he goes. Respectful without being condesending or judgemental.
I'm sure money and gifts (apparently of live animals to slaughter in this case) go a long way because his behavior is often insulting as he tries to be a comedian to his English speaking audience

There's not a single white person there though, with all the cultures in the uk these days everybody is scared to upset another culture here, everybody's treading on egg shells, differences in politics, food, religion, unyet somehow Ethiopia manages to preserve its culture while European people are being washed away down the sink right now,in the UK now there are so many cultures here that you cannot tell who the welsh,Irish, scotish or English are anymore
Here there are around 130 languages spoken, nobody can communicate because the majority of these people don't speak English, it has created separate communities and some are hostile towards each other because they were previously at war with each other before they came to the UK
I have visited Africa. Ethiopia was one of the countries. I had only the time to do Addis Ababa and a few other historical sites. I had no time to go to the Bush areas of Ethiopia. What an eye opener this video was for me. I had no idea that such tribes existed in the borders of Ethiopia. Raw meat. Liver, gizzards, stomach (with poo) all still pulsing with life. Sir, you have my undying respect eating such raw living meat. I don't think I could do it. When all this crazy nonsense in the world is finished, I would like to go back to visit Ethiopia. IF you can eat raw meat, I think I can too. BUT, it want to psyche myself up first. I have friends who saw this video. I asked them, "Could you eat that?" With out missing a beat, "I WANT THAT BILE, LIVER, AND STOMACH!!!" I hope to bring my friends with me to the Bush part of Ethiopia.
In Indonesia eastern part, we also eat cooked blood with intestines, but we added lime juice so it's more fresh taste. Totally love it eating it with rice and hot chilli.
As a Kenyan this is so interesting, am shocked at the diversity in Ethiopia and am inspired to tour the country for the experience. Its very interesting that you dared to eat some of the dishes prepared.
Thank you, love this video! I appreciate being able to join you on this journey and understanding of the tribes of Ethiopia. I might not get the chance to travel there, but your questions are enlightening and how you asked in the end about carrying on traditions in a modern world. Learning about the foods provides such a deeper understanding of the people and traditions. I appreciate that you can take part in the local cuisine with such grace and with a view for learning about the distinct customs. Thank you for this, it is the next closest thing to actually being able to visit these amazing cultures. I feel like I have a deeper understanding just by watching your video.
You sir! have represented everything Ethiopian absolutely correctly! I commented a few videos ago to take a local around and that's what you did! awesome video!
Even as an African, there's no way i am eating all those raw things.. i love the other cooked stuff though .. and i think i avoid food of cultures i dont understand because as an African, i know every cultures have their believes and i dont want to consume something that will end up giving me repercussions .. i don't intend to undermine any culture though but You're brave. Cheers 🥂 Asides that, i love the diversity of Ethiopia.. Africa, in general is indeed beautiful.
I am from the central region of Ethiopia. You are an amazing person; I would never have tried the foods you have! It shows how open-minded you are and how unafraid you are of trying new things.
Loved it! Your reviews were fare and accurate You are one of a handful of western reviewers who were culturally sensitive and spoke to the right people to get the story right. Thank you!
Trust me Ethiopia is one of the best country in the world the food is unexpecteble it's very unique tastes of food in my country Ethiopia I love it and I am sure foreigners maybe you'll fell in love with it
Ethiopian food is possibly my very favorite. The spice blends are so subtle and intriguing (if I manage to persuade the chefs to turn down the volume on the berberé), I could live a long time on their vegetables! I could eat injera every day, at least what I've had, made only with teff, or teff and wheat flour combination, which is lighter. Making injera is not easy, nor quick.

Having said that I understand these tribes need help in maintaining their existence and thanks for showing them to the entire world.
agreed!
That's why you never abandon your motherland. If you leave your motherland you go back with your knowledge and help
I like this video because he asks the tribes whether their lives are improved or not! It must be the golden message to be considered.
They are not surviving "harsh environments" they're close to starvation, even the clan leaders are skin and bones. There's a quiet famine going on in southern ethiopia !!!

I dont see anyone from ethiopia here saying this.
They introduced me to tej, to berbere, and to awaze. They were good men

The food looks good even if simple. I had to grow up due to low educated parents with canned and bagged foods and ready made shit. Even she cooked cow stomach with onions and potato looks better

As a food lover, I am always impressed by Sonny's videos which are not just stories about food but also tell us about the cultures and lives of the people associated with it. It makes a viewer respect the dishes, even if they may not be enjoyed in their different cultures. In this video, i couldn't help but smile at the background music at 2:37 which includes someone reciting "The Lord's Prayer" in Luganda, a local language from Uganda my home country!
i can't respect these dishes, they're unclean, unsanitary, dangerous to consume.

Sonny, This was such an insightful video. Some of the dishes looked tasty but as for the raw meat, the blood, I just don't see how you got it swallowed without gagging and perhaps hurting their feelings
I have to say that I really enjoyed how genuinely nice and hospitable the ppl of Ethiopia are.

He's being biased, he knows damn well most of this is disgusting
