    I am so grateful to Gerry for posting this video. I am freezing in my son's flat, waiting 4hrs for someone to call, 1c outside (Scotland), the blanket I found not really helping. Suddenly thought, boiler pressure. Google, RUclips and Gerry's video. SORTED 😊

    This video is great. But for some reason the boiler only has one black tap, the one that turns 90°, and now I dont know what to do. My last place didnt have this issue so the boiler was easy to sort out. I think there is a leak because the bar hasn't dropped below 1 yet, although it is close, and the water pressure has dropped so much

I repressurised the boiler to 1.5 Bar, when I turned on the heating for about 20 minutes, the pressure climbed to just over 2.5 Bar and the radiators were hotter than normal. Thermostat on 18 C. Could there be another problem ? It is the first time I have touched the boiler, so out of my comfort zone.

    Hi Gerry. Can you tell me what the yellow knob between them does. Should that be vertical or horizontal in general? After previous couple of annual boiler services the engineers left it different positions. I currently now have it in vertical position. Is this okay and what are the dangers if I have it wrong because I don’t know what this does?
    Thanks for the video it was helpful regarding pressure.

    • @boilerbreakdownexpert
      @boilerbreakdownexpert  3 года назад

      Hi Ian, the yellow tap is for gas. this should be vertical. the valve is to isolate the boiler from the supply and i use it to test the cut out function at each service to make sure that the boiler locks out.

      @@boilerbreakdownexpert thanks, I removed the connector and the valve for water supply is working fine. I did not checked the boiler valve without connector in case of not being able to top up at all. My water pressure in general is weak, can this be the reason and can take longer to top up? • @boilerbreakdownexpert

    Great video, would air trapped in radiators reduce boiler pressure?

    • @boilerbreakdownexpert
      @boilerbreakdownexpert  3 года назад

      If the air transfers around to the boiler, it will hit what is called an auto air vent and be expelled, reducing pressure ... the most common fault for pressure lost besides leaks is when the expansion vessel needs recharging or replacing .This can be identified by the pressure rocketing to 3 bar while the boiler is in operation and discharging through the copper pipe outside 👍🏻 Hope this helps buddy

  • @simoncarter4719

    if the water pressure is below 1 does it have to do with the water pressure upstairs? we just move in a new house however the water pressure from the showers is very low. I notice with our vokera gas boiler it is below 1. would that fixed it? Thanks in advance

    • @boilerbreakdownexpert
      @boilerbreakdownexpert  3 года назад

      No, the water pressue in the shower is from the mains water supply BUT if the boiler is under sized it will reduce the flow rate to allow for the 35 degree rise in the temperature of the water ...

    Hi mate have a classic model pressure keeps dropping when heating is run for a while, can you advise please.

    • @boilerbreakdownexpert
      @boilerbreakdownexpert  2 года назад +1

      Hi Eddie, so the first thing is does the boiler hold pressure when not in operation? if no its most likely a leak on the system if yes then the most likely reason is the expansion vessel, this will either need recharging or worst case replacement. If your located in the north and need it looking at let me know info@workwithgroup.co.uk, short of that I'm in touch with other great engineers that id happily use myself if I'm nowhere near.
