    My dudes, we have 28 weapon types in ER as of now, plus casting tools and torches. 8 more is very impressive but not literally doubling it.

      Ruri really just says unsubstantiated stuff sometimes. See him saying Radahn is necessary to access Mohgwyn Palace if you don't follow Varre's quest, which is just false.

      Yea that specific part of the podcast actually had me questioning wtf was he talking about, even if you condense it down to just simply swords, great swords, colossals, axes, etc it's still more than 10..bro just be yapping sometimes.

      I don’t think that’s what he said unless I misheard. He mentioned you need to defeat Redahn before accessing the dlc, and brought up the skip involving Varres quest but was a bit muddled on the order of things and where items were.

  • @williammcgregor7150
    @williammcgregor7150 5 месяцев назад +20

    Radahn doesn't need to be defeated to access Mohgwyn Palace in the Consecrated Snowfield. There is a different reason Radahn has to die as he is not tied to accessing Mohg in any way.

    The Magnet Hammer SHOULD come over MH very soon, it is a logical idea for a weapon!
    As for enemy diversity, there's around 160 enemy types in ER (including NPC invaders), that's quite a lot. But previous Souls games also reused a lot of assets. Sekiro reused enemies and strong foes (mini bosses) ad nauseam, Bloodborne reused the same villagers and hippos throughout the game, as well as bosses and mini bosses. DS1 has pretty much the demon's, hydras, Knights and golems. But hey, I guess ER is the only game to reuse content.

      @sionteemo9697 there's also the talos principle 2! Technically it already came out on steam, but now we'll be able to play it on console. The 1st one is great, and it seems that the 2nd one did very well too. I know last year there was also that remake for system shock, i think it's definitely possible for that remake to be released this year, but I'm not sure on that one.
      Edit: i meant released for console, the system shock remake is already on steam.

    One thing I’ve learned on the internet is people will hate on literally anything, I’ve seen ppl hating on halldivers calling bland, I’ve seen people praise suicide squad and recently I’ve been seeing a lot of people saying elden ring was overrated.

      It's happening with TOTK too. I've seen people praise the hell out of it, saying it's better than BOTW is better in every way, and now they say it felt like it was just a DLC

    • @dave_deckard3201
      @dave_deckard3201 5 месяцев назад +3

      @@BlackBladeSombrai love Elden Ring, but i think its overrated because its non very original and lacks of identity because is the fusion of all the previous fromsoftware games. The amount of unneccessary content is a lot (dungeons, reused bosses or mobs used as such, map is too big) and some of the enemies and zones are just poorly designed. Of course, i still think the games is great, some of the work they did is at the highest level.

    • @heibk-2019
      @heibk-2019 5 месяцев назад +5

      @@dave_deckard3201i agree with the dungeons being bland and lazy boss encounters(especially in Dungeons) but i do think the game does have its own distinct identity and vibe that is quite different from the Dark Souls games

      @dave_deckard3201 5 месяцев назад +1

      @@heibk-2019 oh for sure, the fact alone that is open world gave the game a whole new sense of wonder and the exploration was probably the best ive ever experienced in a game. So yeah it is different from souls games; but when i see the animations in general, the arm of malenia, the fact that there are "gods" (marika->gwyn) and outer gods that u never see and guide the events in the world ecc. everything reminds of the previous games and since ive already seen it the experience is less exciting.

    There are reasons to play Difficulty 3: You get way more Common Samples compared to Diff 1 and 2 (the amount that spawns scales), maps are larger meaning there's more PoIs to find, and those PoIs are still unguarded (they only start being guarded on Diff 4). (Similarly, 5 and 6 also gives more Common+Rare samples compared to 4, but the difficulty is also significantly higher, and 7 only ever has 3 Supers while 8 and 9 can have more)

  • @zerodeadwolf213

    Base game killing Radahn isn't need to reach the Snowfields, you need to get one half of the medallion from Albus in Liurnia at the Albanuric Village and then the second one at Castle Sol in the Mountaintop of the Giants, you don't even need to follow Latenna's questline though it is good to do so just for the Ancient Smithing Stone.
    Lore wise can't think of a reason why you need to kill Radahn before you can access it. Like Ruri implied it might be just to stop people using the Varre skip from getting to it too early and being incredibly ill equipped to deal with the expansion.

    • @OldManInternet
      @OldManInternet 5 месяцев назад +2

      I think the idea of Radahn freezing the stars could be the link, because you're likely going through this expansion to cause some kind of resolution that would be impossible as things stand with him alive.

    • @zerodeadwolf213
      @zerodeadwolf213 5 месяцев назад +2

      @@OldManInternet I've seen a few people thinking something similar and that would be understandable if the expansion added on a new ending based on whatever it is we are going to experience in the Land of Shadow but Miyazaki has said in one of the interviews that's not the case and the expansion is it's own thing and that it is using lore that was written but didn't fit in with the story they were trying to tell in base ER. So I'm not as convinced about that Radahn theory as that feels very much like it was just for the Ranni stuff.

    • @OldManInternet
      @OldManInternet 5 месяцев назад

      @zerodeadwolf213 For sure. It's just the only lore reason I could think of. It's likely just a good power level for people to be at, so they have a point of reference for the content.

    For the helldivers segment, the last weapon on the regular warbond is ok, but it has a low magazine capacity which means less ammo overall, the standard breaker shotgun is literally the meta along with the railgun and personal shield, you dont have to play them but they're standard, sure maybe eventually there will be a weapon in the premium that would be way better but like yall said, just farm super credits 🤷

    At the same time though, there's nothing quite like going into a new DLC on a new character and experiencing things as you would as a brand new player.
    I'm still kinda waffling though. My first character is at the very start of NG+++ I think, so I might play through to Mohgwyn Palace and see how I feel about it then.

    On the discussion of pvp I also think that hard swapping has killed it. It is so true that so many people who Invade are constantly switching weapons/talismans via the menu while invading which completely negates the point of a build and equip load. It really isn’t fun trying to play the game the way it was intended to be played against a try hard exploiting the menu swapping to get a cheap win.

    To solve the issue of people not advancing when they’re invaded and they have co-op partners I think it’d be funny if they would spawn 2-3 elite enemies behind the hosts every minute until they kill an enemy that is static in the map or the invader.

    Little note for everyone who wants to access mohg early without having to wait until mountain tops of the giant: Varre is in a church in liurnia and he will give you red fingers to invade. If you do not have online like me (I'm a broke ass 😢😢), you can go to altus and enter the invasion where you invade an npc that has beast incantation. Just suicide against him 3-5 times and talk to Varre again. He will give you the item that will teleport you to the mogh area. From there just sit on a grace and there you go, you accessed mogh early and best part is you wouldn't even need to kill any bosses before going because the medalions to go are in chests in different fortresses, so you don't even need to kill makar. There you go, bye.

    Siofra river (everything you can access before killing Radahn) is definitely "a part of Limgrave" because you can go to any site of grace there/kill any boss without even triggering a roundtable hold invitation. And as y'all said Miyazaki loves to downplay, it's definitely going to be bigger than all of what toskr said + Siofra river and of course more densely packed. Personally, replayability is never about trying to recapture the 'magic' of the first playthrough. This isn't a negative at all, because some things are better when you have more knowledge and experience than you did the first time, especially when it comes to things like combat and builds. I've replayed ER about a dozen times, but I haven't gone to every mini-dungeon or did every questline like I did (or tried to) on my first go.
    I do as much as I like and whatever I feel like doing at the time, which is still a lot as it includes all the legacy dungeons, major dungeons (like Castle Morne), underground areas, some field bosses, settlements like Sellia and Dominula, and so on. I really don't get this 'all or nothing' stance where you want to imitate your first playthrough so thoroughly that you'd put yourself through things you'd much rather not do, like reading every bit of flavor text or doing every mini-dungeon. And I'm someone who sweeps every inch of almost all the areas in a Soulsborne game, even on my tenth playthrough; I just do it for pure fun and immersion, though.
    I guess I just don't believe that it can't get better than your first time, even if it was 'magical'. In fact, it's the Fromsoft games that are proof of that to me, as the first go with each one was great, but it's usually either my second or third that is my favorite. Even then, my most recent playthroughs aren't any less fun. Elden Ring is a bit of an exception, admittedly, as the sense of exploration it thrives on is so dependent of the initial discovery, but even then there are other aspects I loved and appreciated more about it on following attempts, such as builds, bosses, and the story.

    When it comes to the themes of the Elden ring I feel like it’s about loyalty and devotion in a way. I’m kinda just making shit up but I did notice that there’s a lot of relationships between characters where both parties need each other. Like miqualla and Melania, ranni and us, now miqualla and us. There’s also a lot of brtrayals of this devotions. Like how Marika has taken advantage of a lot of people to further her own goals.
    Don’t take this too seriously this was just a thought

    Small corrections. In sekiro you kill minor bosses and they drop prayer beads that Upgrade your health and posture. Only major bosses reward a memory that can permanently increase your Attack Power and allows you to refight that boss at any time. There are already Elden Ring corrections here so i'll skip those. Didn't see any for sekiro though so i might as well do it. With 7 games i often get stuff mixed up as well.

    I bet the prompt to enter the egg won't show until you've defeated both mohg and Rahdan. There is probably a lore reason behind why, maybe to do with the stars. Because Rahdan is way earlier in the game compared to the portal in the snowfield and would seem like a random requirement other wise.
    Like you can probably get to Mohg while in Liurnia like normal through Varre, but you won't actually be able to interact with the egg until Rahdan is dead too

    What worries me a little is Elden ring was so good and most likely this dlc will be as well. How do they top it… I will never question anything fromsoft and miyazaki do but man once Elden rings content is over after this expansion. Can they go back to making linear style souls games again? I dunno. I would still probably enjoy it but I’d be remiss if I didn’t say it might feel like a step back from Elden ring. This open world style has to stay.

AC6 felt like a lateral step post ER and I loved it, I'm more a melee guy and it pushed slightly different buttons (Pile Bunker my beloved bridged that gap a bit). I'll be happy with smaller more experimental games or bigger ones.

      @Fishy_1998yt 4 месяца назад

      The twist with that point is that almost nobody is taking it literally. Besides random actual nazis you may run into, most people understand it’s satire and simply roleplay as helldivers. It’s people mistaking sarcasm and enthusiasm for the game (people jokingly getting into “character” while playing the game, “hur hur spreading democracy”) as genuine fascism or endorsing the concepts in the game.
      Hardly any actual conservatives are misunderstanding the sarcasm, it’s more liberal types mistaking obvious sarcasm and enthusiasm for the game as taking the game seriously. Ironically the people saying the conservatives are taking it seriously are taking it more seriously than the conservatives.
      Edit: also I’ve seen plenty of non-conservatives acting like this so it’s not even a conservative “issue”, it’s sensitive people mistaking sarcasm and embracing of the satire as taking it literally.

    In lords of the fallen I was invaded by a new player and in the area where you fight the angel lady I stood by the petrified statues and the guy was so confused he walked past me like 20 times and then I pancaked him with my duel faith greatswords. You guys gotta stop saying that lol. I've earned enough to get the battle pass without farming once. In like a less than a week. I'm not stoked about the rotating store either so I feel you guys on that, but this is a model that can change the industry for the better, and it can get the devs paid enough to actually continue supporting it in the way people want.
    I'm going to say at the time of this comment that I've had zero issues logging in. The kick patch has done wonders it seems. Quick match works and it works fast. I have had disconnects and other minor bugs, so I guess I still second waiting for people that haven't purchased it yet. Still, I've found it well worth the $40 in a weekend.
    Lastly, I'm slightly worried about new passes every month. I can't imagine that not creating a wide gulf in accessing the future meta stuff. Even if you pay, you can't buy medals, and I'm not sure you should be able to. But I won't let that sour me yet. The other side is that there seems like there will be plenty of content to get to. Excellent base game. Can't imagine what comes next.

    In fact after all 3 games are out they should upgrade them with the option to play the original story and link them together because as usual with Square Enix they lied and it's NOT a game cut into 3 connected games like they promised (like Mass Effect trilogy) it's actually 3 completely separate games and

    As a former Destiny addict, I hate that game and everything it represents. Helldivers 2 is what Destiny should have been. It's so good. I don't even really need anything in game anymore. I have a couple of ship upgrades left but I mostly just need more rare samples and I can get those whenever. Right now I just boot up the game, run a few missions and then call it quits. It's always fun and I'm generally indifferent to failure as there's nothing about the game encouraging toxic attitudes. I've heard some malicious players are roaming around but so far I've yet to encounter them and that seems to be a result of pure malice rather than anything having to do with the game.
    I do wish that HD2 hadn't spent two weeks utterly borked. Then maybe we'd have gotten some balance passes instead of downtime and server fixes. I really want to use some weapons but many of them are hot garbage and seriously need buffs. Breaker is OP but its biggest failure is the range. If it had steeper damage drop off it'd be perfect. Buff everything else to not be a pea shooter and you'd be golden.
