This challenge was a good balance of fun and pain. The other Elden Ring ideas I'm contemplating at the moment are "Beating Elden Ring the way Miyazaki Intended" which would be an RL1 foot only run where I rush to the dlc and get the martial arts weapon to use only kicking attacks with and "Elden Ring but I move in Slow Motion" where I would leave all enemies at normal speed but halve the speed of my character... those might be too hard though lol.

Considering an "Elden Ring as Miyazaki Intended" run where I'm RL1, can only use kick attacks, and can't wear any shoes. I'd rush Mohg, kill him... somehow, grab the dry leaf arts and only use the kick attacks. Iirc, only the sprinting and jumping heavies when using it with both hands, but also the charged heavy when using it with one
Next challege: beat elden ring with only arrows
Someone forgot the halo scythe, for what is a halo if not a holy ring

It would be awesome to see a literal “broken” build where you can only use weapons, armor and items that are physically broken (Fingerprint armor, scavenger’s curved sword, omen bairn), which could also make for a fun title of “Beating Elden Ring with a literal “BROKEN” build”

If you ever decide to suffer this run through the DLC, I suggest picking up the armour of Night.

Is there anything even remotely ring-shaped about it? No
BUT: If you look at it for but a moment, you will realize it truly befits a lord of rings.

I would absolutely love to see you do the DLC with this challenge. I would also personally argue that other armors with chainmail as part of them or that depict rings would be okay to use.
15:30 for you and any newer player, never ever no matter what ever dodge backwards from a thrust attack. Guaranteed death. Always forward or to the side (depending)
Malenia is definitely my favourite boss - the way shes more humanoid and similar size to the tarnished, and her one handing a katana makes it feel like a real duel and I love it.
you've probably learned this after that rough experience, but if an enemy does a running at you attack, it's safer to roll straight through it and pretend it's not there than to roll away from it repeatedly, fuckin amazing challenge though, loved how your warhammer slipped through when you said you reached "rank 89" lol

imo it's a good thing they gave her heath regen , otherwise many would complain on how she is one of the easiest boss late game,

With the carian night I figured out (after getting parried so many times) that you can just go up the elevator behind him and he should just walk off
Malenia isn't the hardest boss in all FromSoft games as a lot of people say. But she for sure is in the top tier difficulty range and she is also the most fun boss to beat in all the games I've ever played in general.
5 hours for malenia is very good. Took me way longer. Glad to see I wasn't the only one with brainlag to realize when she is doing her waterfall dance

I thought this was a talisman only run because I forgot they aren't called rings. Though I don't even know what a talisman only run would look like since there's no talisman that deals damage.

If Malenia really clicked with you, give Sekiro a shot. You'll see that fight's DNA throughout the entire game.
If you end up doing the dlc in a future video, just know that both the golden order seal and the dry leaf seal can boost discus of light if you end up using it.
If you want to do a theme build, may i recommend doing a dragon themed playthrough?
You get an amazing seal for it at the very beginning of the game, and can do absolutely insane damage with the dragon communion spells (albeit the breath attacks can be a tad bit mana inefficient).
Also there are the dragon cult incantations, which is basically everything lightning based.
Only problem is can see is that dragon themed armours tend to be lategame stuff, and i dont know if you can get any of the dragon themed weapons without fighting (you may be able to get lightning strike if the scarab that holds it is close enough to a cliff, not sure).
The dlc also has some cool as hell stuff for dragon themed spells, with the rock heart and priestess heart literally turning you into a dragon and buffing dragon communion and dragon cult spells respectively.
Wait, just realized that technically the communion seal counts as a dragon weapon, so you can just punch things with it until you get the appropriate spells/weapons
Also you dont need to get your hands dirty with killing the guy that has the seal, you can have him get run over fairly reliably
Just so you can know.. you can get the key to the academy, enter the academy then leave through the other other seal on the right from where you enter and end up right at the road that leads straight to the lift.

one of my favorite builds to use is the snow witch build. only snow sorceries, snow witch robes, and lots of pain. range: not nearly as much as other, potential sorceries. damage output: same. but goddamn, is the drip worth it

I feel like adding the rolling ash of war would work since it turns you into the ring
The ring incantations are so good, beat the whole game with them as Goldmask. Discus does a shocking amount of damage for only 3 fp, Radagon’s Rings obliterated Malenia for me, the new Repeating Ring is also so good against big targets.
Important to note, the moment you reached Altus you can trigger Corhyn to move there and tell him where the goldmask is, where he will sell discus of light immediately, I did this for my own ring run.
The „tilt astronomical” bit was a cool visual gag. Production value going off the chart here, good job

If you do another challenge run later I recommend the twiggy cracked tear. It is hiding at the bossless minor erdtree at altus in the same area as the three golems on the way to draconic tree sentinel.
It lets you die without losing the runes on you and not on you. Really op

fun fact: in my sorcery only run I found out you can 3 cycle her first phase with nothing but magic damage (which she resists by 80%) while going to her before radahn and altus

Malenia is one of the only fights where when I fail, I don't blame the shit hitboxes or the poorly telegraphed moves, I blame myself, because this fight is hard, but fair
