I've noticed that the longer the game goes on, the less of a burden not being able to fast travel at will is. And not because you get a bunch of ferrystones etc. I mean because when you need to go to a place mid-late game, there's a good chance you've already explored the sounding areas, and you gain augments that allow you to run for a much longer period of time. So you can end up zipping to a location across the map, that took you forever at the beginning.
Plus you've gotten much more powerful, so you can just cut your way through the enemies on the way.
I actually have fun not traveling fast. As an example, i went to the sphinx and didn't want to teleport. I simply went downhill, fought one necromancer boss (it is actually a mage but whatever), found a new weapon (staff or bow) and overall discovered a new area. I enjoyed it and now I'm in the volcanic island base, but I have to track back because I totally skipped Bathall entirely by mistake and I have missions to complete there.
Cannot deny the fact that after a week from release, now everything in my feed seems to be talking about how good DD2 is. Despite the internet being the internet, this game is really good and it shows.
I think it's gonna be the opposite since this has more eyes on it, people jumping on it because new game and such. I've already seen some videos saying it's bad and such, it's fine to say it is and have that opinion but some are just toxic about it.
Mines the opposite. After the initial hype wore off, people are shifting the discussion from obvious performance and MTX issues to genuine design flaws in the game. It’s truthfully a solid 6-7/10 at best. But still fun while it lasts.
I hope so because I love this game and wish more were made like it. I don't like most the other popular RPG titles. We need more games like this with no guidance or fast travel!
Its mid at best. Low enemy variety, by middle game you are op and everything is a joke, horrible performance issues and a single save slot in a open world game is nuts. I mean witcher 3 looks better than this game with no mods.
@inthebeginning4751 Assuming you've played the first one and not the Dark Arisen version then you will know it's roughly the same. But I do agree that we need more enemy variety and a scaling difficulty, it maybe mid for you but for some it's good.
Everyone has their own taste in games.
MainPawn is the result of not putting a name in other than a Moniker; some folks got confused about the inclusion of the Moniker right after the "name" place and thought the Moniker would just be what everyone would see, etc. so didn't bother putting a custom name.
I don't know what the use of having a moniker is.
I have a mage pawn named Nik Mage, I probably should have made him look more like Nick, but I wanted a Beastren on the team.
@@munky342 Yeah it's all good, it's a parental restriction thing; I believe if an account is assigned to have those, instead of the custom character name, the Moniker will be used, or at least I believe that was the intention in DD1. Carried over to DD2.
In DD2 it seems to be used instead of displaying other languages

When I played DD1 I played a warrior and then got envious when I saw all the cool spells the mages could do. In DD2 now I'm playing a mage and now I'm envious of the cool giant sword techniques the warrior can use. What's happening?

It was more cowboy. Don’t get me wrong, I love this game but having to do some doogie howser computer tricks just to delete a save and start a new character is pretty dumb. Anywho keep up the great work dude
1:21:56 where you guys discussed different upgrades; you can reset the upgrades for 1 WLC at the dragonforge guy, if you upgrade with the Dwarven Blacksmith: at the cost of extra weight the upgrades to weapons will add extra knockdown power, and to armor will add knockdown resistance, which is very useful, particular for Warriors.

The game is 30 fps on the new consoles. It’s permanently in performance hell.
@banuner_ it's uncapped and is perfectly fine to play. I'm having an amazing time with it because guess what, the FPS doesn't really matter to a lot of people. The game looks amazing and is running smoothly on PS5.

Speaking of that beginning quest, it's quite varied. If you fall back while they fight the cyclops and make them handle on their own(and they survive)....it changes the dynamic too.

My only real genuine complaints other than performance are that the story just feels off, QOL issues, less customization for armor drip, and the vocations. I mean I just got to Battahl and no one seems concerned about the world-ending dragon? I hate not having Assassin, I loved using a sword with parries, sword skills and gouge for monster climbing with a bow for some ranged with needed. No class feels fun for monster climbing and most of the classes are missing alot of skills I enjoyed in the previous game. Some people saying the cut skills were implemented in their core skills but thats not the case for most of them. No sheltered assault or mage/sorcerer debuff spells? Combat just doesn't feel as nuanced or in depth to me as the first one did. Everything else is amazing and still a good game over all.
I know what it is like to have a pawn that is not desired in the original Dragon's Dogma. My plan is in new game plus to have myself, pawn and one high level pawn. I will then find the newer or least used pawns to bring along just for those RC for them. They can be super weak and may need multi res, but I'd rather be helpful than not.
As someone who also never had anyone hire their pawn it makes me really happy to see so many people saying this. I’ve also heard a lot of stories of people giving other people’s pawns nice equipment to take back home. I think once the controversy dies down the community growing around DD2 is going to be great
If anyone has a low end pc like myself I just want to share that I am having a blast with DD2 I have like 110 hrs just finished first playthrough after 100 hrs and I am sooo happy that my ryzen 5 1st gen gtx 1080ti can run this game. Of course it doesnt look as good but everything outside towns is fluid no stuttering so so enjoyable. Just wanted to share that.

@@thestrikebooster the game had it by default as high when I started. It gauged the usage of vram like 5 71 out of the 11gb of the card. Then I changed it to low and it was about the same. But still like I said it doesnt look as good as the people with newer cards and honestly it has crashed for me like 5 times. But I understand it because I think the machine is like old and barely running it. It still a lot of fun for me
30:20 - I'm jealous. I removed Launchboard from my Pawn's moveset because he never used it when I wanted him to. I've ended up wasting so much time fighting the geography with sprint -> jump -> Concussive Leap -> ??? -> profit shenanigans, with ??? sometimes being sticking onto a surface for juuuust enough frames for Concussive Leap to become usable again or going for a clutch Skull Splitter. The thing is, I feel like I'm sequence breaking every time, whereas if my Paw simply used Launchboard, everything would feel nice and organic 😩
I will say this. The amount of vitriol surrounding this game is really sad. If you don't like the game, why do you care? Why not move on? Why attack people calling them shills, or calling people elitists, can you not just leave simple criticism without being a toxic a-hole?

A lot of the vitriol surrounding the game is excessive for sure like the "pay-to-win" microtransactions (they shouldn't exist but they've been in practically every Capcom game for a decade, why start complaining now), but some of it is totally deserved.
To be honest from what I've been seeing at least just in the last couple days a lot of the anger is from pissed off Dragon's Dogma fans who feel like they just got sold a downgraded remake, because if you've ever played DD:DA, that's genuinely what it feels like. I'm not even sure I can blame them for being toxic because if you're a huge Dragon's Dogma fan, this is basically your Cyberpunk 2077. People have been waiting YEARS for this, and for it to come out so genuinely broken and unfinished is such a letdown.
Dragon's Dogma is infamous for having insane amounts of cut content and ideas, and a lot of the marketing was Itsuno promising people that this was his 'fully realized version.'
Yet there's less monsters than even vanilla Dragon's Dogma somehow? There's no post-game? Why is the story so incredibly rushed? Why is the ending completely incomprehensible, even to people who have played and understand the original? Why do you spend 80% of the game in linear mountains and then Battahl feels like an afterthought with like five quests? Where are the vocations? Why did they nerf the combat, letting you map less skills and limiting weapon usage? Why are some of the vocations unlocked so incredibly late in the game to the point where you basically get just an hour or two to use them? Why does the movement feel so floaty and awkward, constantly grappling ledges or sliding down slopes when you don't want to? Why is the voice acting so bad in places? Why did they try to re-do Grigori from DD:DA, but never actually integrate him into the game at all? You only see him ONCE before the fight, and he doesn't even get a name!
When a game comes out for as much money as DD2 costs (95 dollars CDN and with tax it came out to almost 106), you expect them to do better than a goddamn Xbox 360 game content-wise. Yet they basically remade the first game with all of the exact same problems, and some new ones.
I think it Would be nice if they allowed you to save multiple CCs locally and swap them like presets for the one online copy when using metamorphosis.
That would probably make your rents less reliable, but for those of us who don't really care, would be nice. I have in mind 1 pawn that means something to me, 1 pawn that I'd want other people to rent, and 1 pawn I'd want for story.
Skill load outs would be a nice quality of life thing too.
You can save at the last inn as a backup other than the normal save point to strategically further the story in a desirable way. Though actions will have consequences is pretty cool

So how do you even make your pawns use skills like springboard? Played mage and sorcerer early, but leveling the other vocations now and so many places and seeker tokens I can't get to >.
the pawned is the hardest to control the game 🤣, i in 20hrs in the game and having so much fun
The beggar quest rlly taught me how fucked up some of the quests can be and the different ends it can have.. 😅
Tips for fast trvl, i set my port crystals in each town. And if theirs a town im not going to in a while i keep jst one crystal on me jst incase theirs a spot i want to come back to . Or spread the crystal evenly around to map so that you dont have to walk to much, jst incase bothers you to walk/ adventure around .
as a dragon dogma veteran all these things I agree that people that jumps in to dragon's dogma for the first time have no clue and take their other game experiances and try to put it in to this game and it does not translate well over for all things. Dragons dogma 1/2 is fantastic
The Pawn has to notice the chest or whatever and say something like "I can help you with this" or something then when you hit "Go" they will use the Springboard or even if Mage/Sorc they will levitate and open chests if you can't reach.
So the upgrades are this. There is the balanced one, one for magic def and atk, one for phys def and atk and then dwarf which is knockdown power which you would want on warrior.
I enjoy the game for what it is and hopefully many play throughs. Who cares what other negative people are saying. Thank you both as you both know what you are talking about
Everyone is full of wakestones and ferrystones, keep collecting and saving them, they are very useful for post-game true ending.

I almost exclusively use ferrystones just for the affinity escorts, or for going from like, main city to other main city. Anything that isn’t across a border is way more fun to just have a fellowship style trek through the wilderness
I think the issue is after 50+ hours, fighting the same mobs is boring…. But I do agree there is a special magic to exploring thoroughly.
you can buy the explorer camping kit in game, also there is an even lighter camping kit you just get from quests. I already got two before crossing the border.
1:26:00 you can also use that to refill health without saving btw if you wanna keep the pawn low

I noticed on my pawn, who was only mage and sorcerer at this point, on one of her sorc lvl ups she got +2 magic and +8 strength randomly.
afterwards I had her on archer for rank 4 augment and on one of the level ups she got +9 magic randomly.
so some kind of balancing is happening I guess, but I don't really have enough data to say how or what's happening and haven't found anything definitive online.
Also most of the time I don't even realize I leveled up, because I have to much fun to look at numbers.
I have a question for anyone who knows, I would like to try using rurikhan and cowboys pawns but I don't know their id's. Do I have to be a channel member to get that info?
I think cowboy’s is in the unique pawns list. Not sure about ruri’s. I think theyre both only on the pc version of the game also.
My issue with fast travel is that, without it, it's very easy to get over leveled. I was in my 40s before starting Bahabal. And the vocations I cared about were max. So not a lot of incentives to retrace steps.
I had to rush the end of the game to maintain some challenge. I'm currently 1 shotting in NG+
You know what’s weird is that I have the same setup as cowboy on my pc but I get the opposite- I get 120fps locked and running smooth outside of the capital city with dlss turned off. When I have it on my fps tanks down to 100 with the graphics looking too blurry
Yeah when it comes to optimization for games the performance is always random especially when the optimization is done very poorly or not done at all. My brother and I have the exact same specs and I have 0 issues and he crashes every hour almost. It’s not acceptable, but I’m glad I got lucky haha.

I’m actually happy my amd rig play this game so well I do have fsr enabled and capped the frame to 60
i have a 7800x3d and 7900xtx and i get fluctuations in the city but it's like 56 - 60 never went lower than 56 at least while I watches the fps for the first two days no fsr on 1440p highest custom settimgs
"no spoilers" and then it's have you done this quest and this quest and this quest the first time i rode the Griffen this happened so I had to turn the video off... Ugh
That sucks that enemy bugged out on Rurikhan. That fight was so cool!
If you like explosions @Rurikhan, archer's eruption shot is far superior to the thief's powder charge. Simple upgrade system explanation: Blue icon gives a balanced (Strength/Magic), orange upgrade leans towards strength, green is magic, white is balanced but also give knockdown power for weapons and knockdown resist for armor. White (which you unlock once you unlock magic archer (go back to house where the dwarf and elf live) or do the blacksmith apprentice (Sara) questline in Bakbattahl) is the best for armor and melee weapons by far. Also just on what Cowboy said about he's pawn getting used a lot. Is he seriously surprised? I mean he's a content creator with a fairly large viewership. Of course he's pawn is going to be used a heap. It has nothing to do with the gear he's pawn has, or what it looks like. He's viewers will of course want to use he's pawn, that's a given. Same goes for yours and every other content creator's pawn.
I've had a blast on ps5. Never had any problems. The updates have helped for sure. It's definitely enjoyable on the ps5 if anyone is worried.
Given how easy the game gets midway through and how NG+ doesn't make the game more difficult, I'm definitely going to play solo on my second run.
I don't use dlss to get games to run. I use it to drop GPU usage to lower temps and power consumption. Just seems super efficient.

The only MTX I'm okay with are the deluxe upgrade items that aren't in the game that are only on the store. For gear you want dwarf upgrades. For weapons Strength: battal Magic: elvish and for weapons like mystic spearhand you want dwarf.
I was wondering about all the Main Pawn characters. That’s hilarious. lol
I love Mystic Spearhand.. but I don't know if it's just me... But that vocation trivializes the combat, and i've already had to resort to 2 different mods to try and make the game challenging again since i've hit level 30 or 40
That’s for almost every vocation mid-late game depending on the gear. I’ve maxed every single vocation and it gets extremely easy way too fast. I have a feeling the game was likely rushed out and possibly had some hiccups in development so they had to stitch things together quickly. Otherwise I’m having a lot of fun but I do wish it was harder.
Elite camping kit is lighter that Explorer's Camping Kit.
Elite is obtainable at the border Town quest that requires you to "forge" a green gem and weights at 4kg. That's lighter.
But.... compared to austethic, Explorer looks a lot nicer that Elite.

Keep save states in the Cloud. Also, don't forget inn saves.
Makes a better role play experience.. You can't just constantly reload saves to avoid bad outcomes (which I do all the time)

You can reset upgrades on a weapon????
In the open world, DLSS and FSR help frames because the game becomes more GPU bound. In Vernworth, there's no reason to enable FSR or DLSS because the game becomes CPU bound in those scenarios. The whole point of FSR and DLSS is to simply get a higher frame rate while also reducing the load of the GPU... which you don't want in a scenario where the CPU is the bottleneck. This is apparent because when you're in Vernworth, no matter how low or high you put your settings, the game still chugs because of the CPU, not the GPU.
i think the only reason i want more then 1 save slot at least on steam is so i can do playthroughs specifically with stupid ideas.
Just curious i feel like i cant aim well with my bow. But i did pretty well in the first game. I want to try archer become i was always a fighter beforehand.
The manual aiming is pretty generous. As long as what you’re aiming at is mostly in the very big crosshairs you should hit it. Most of the archer skills can also be used without manual aiming, they just won’t be quite as strong and won’t reliably hit weakpoints.
I typically only play through games once and then move on which unfortunately leads to me wanting to experience as much as possible on that play through. I almost never NG+.
I will only say that regarding the fps issues about dd2 I have no say because I played bloodborne and regardless of its 30fps issues I had a lot of fun, and the same is happening for dd2.
Just waiting on performance patches before I purchase. I still run my 2070 max q laptop
The way the stats gain is not the same as the first game Ruri. Essentially what FightinCowboy was getting at with the 200 thing is that in DD2 at really high levels the stats end up the same regardless of what you leveled as. Exactly the same. Nothing is missed out. Also I have gained mostly magic stats sometimes while leveling as Warrior from time to time which is part of the equalizing at work. As for killing a dragon I shot it four times in the heart with a ballista and it did nothing to it so I killed it normally. So I don't know what happened there but whomever made that ballista and the bolt was a scammer probably.
For the weapon and armour upgrades when it comes to where you are. Vermund is balance both attack stats and both defense stats for physical and magic as well as decreasing weight. Elf is magic attack and defense. Battahl is physical attack and so far it seems that Dwarven is the best overall. Its knockback resistance and offence which is more important than you would think. Extra knockdown even on a Warrior. Also Dwarven upgrades attack/defense for physical and magic equally at the cost of making equipment heavier.
I think you guys might of missed the other thief skill you get also in that area.
I’m actually perturbed by the stat growth thing. All the advertisement and reviews said it wasn’t like dogma 1 and your stats would change with vocation instead of fixed on level up so it didn’t matter what you leveled as

I would rather have microtransactions that are worthless, than really needed for the game. Also, most of the microtransactions are the items that comes with the deluxe edition….and I think some countries require all items from a deluxe edition to be able to be purchased by everyone, separately from edition.
The dlss3 mod been causing constant crashes for a lot of people, me included. My 4090, and 14900k can get 145-165 out of towns, and 120 in towns (but it becomes very stuttery) with the frame gen mod, on top of crashes.
When I first met the sphinx I gave them a wakestone because I really didn't know. After seeing this I feel real dumb lol

There’s vermundian, bhattali, elvyn, dwarvian, and dragonforged.
There is no issues with locking FPS to 30 on PC as well if you don't want fluctuation. Hell, I can probably lock my PC to 50 FPS, and see almost zero fluctuation. But why would I? I'd rather get 90 FPS out in the world, and 50 in cities.
I am using a 5800x / 4070ti Super rig and drop down to 37 fps in town but, normally sit close to 45 ish. I'm at 75 - 90 outside of town. All of this with dlss off because even on quality mode upscaling to 1440p it looks like crap.
Resolution is heat on consoles
Anyone else noticed that they nerfed how many skills we can use? DD1 you can hold up to 6 now only 4. Only vocation that had 3 on dd1 was warrior. Also they butcher strider and ranger 😢
What we’ve all been waiting for….
Most of the complaints about traversal I've seen are around the limited enemy variety, and the sentiment that this world is not truly "open", because there's too many paths and not enough open space, which increases travel time. Itsuno stated in interviews that he wanted to make a "fantasy world simulator", and they clearly went on to design a world with realistic, life-like topography, rather than the kind of safari theme park structure most traditional open worlds follow. The overabundance of goblins and scarcity of larger enenies is a bit of a bummer, but not exactly surprising.
honestly i like how claustrophobic a lot of areas can be , but this is because i install a mod to make the game much harder with increased damage and increased health. There was an occasion where I was surrounded by enemies on all fronts and was losing the fight, and i had to retreat to a narrow raised cliff so I can just defend from one direction. I played a fighter and draw aggro while the mages and archer behind me does the damage and they don't get massacred cause enemies only come from the front. Then whenever the enemy is staggered I chose to grab them and throw them over the cliff because killing them normally takes too much time when i still have a lot more enemies to contend to. Barely won that fight and I thought "woah that is awesome", could never had that experience if the open world is all flat wide open spaces. But i agree base difficulty is too easy to encourage people to actually make use of the environment in battle.
Base my pawn selections off of quests only - hot or ugly if the quest reward is nice I will take it!
The 7900xtx, which is actually an RTX 4080 competitor, not 4090, actually preforms better than the $4090 at half the price. That's because both cards are CPU limited/bottlenecked so the 4090 can't go full blast, and is running at 60% load most of the time, or even less. And AMD GPUs are less demanding on the CPU, so that's why they aren't preforming equal, but AMD actually pulls a head. You have more CPU resources available when you have an AMD GPU.
I have a 14900k and a 4090 and god damn does it feel bad how shit this game runs.

i gotta disagree with the pawn not being rented thing. now there is a oversaturation of pawns so you have a very minor chance of being rented or even seen. and most people are just looking to see who put up 10k gold for a cyclopes.

that's twice now that Itsuno and his dev get heat from capcom's mtx practices. i remember people complaining about red orbs being dlc in DMC5 only for the game to turn out that you gain so much just from playing the game normally and even a specific mission gives so much that the mtx red orbs were worthless. There was no point to them being there.
Honestly I think the performance issues just exacerbated the mtx issue and everything blew up, the fact that DD2 is in the same state as DD1 on release is super irritating especially when he said DD2 was fulfilling the “vision” which I don’t think is true at all. I enjoy the hell out of the game but it was not the “vision” he spoke of.

DD2 is literally a more fleshed out version of DD1 in nearly every way.
@@omegaxtrigun He definitely said it rather it’s on a whim or not YOU or I do not know, there’s nothing about dd2 being what was envisioned for the installment (I know it’s improved on dd1, but there are also some drawbacks that were in the first game and not in this one) especially with the issues that are present now, he also made a rather odd remark saying there were many many more bosses than what were shown in the trailers, but there’s only a few outside of the marketing? It seems fairly obvious that this game had several hiccups in development, it could’ve used another half a year and then maybe it would be closer to the full experience, but it does not feel like how it was explained. Also I’m just speculating and giving thoughts while also enjoying the game, what the heck is your problem? I love the hell out of this game but pretending it’s the dream he had does his dream and ideas a disservice.
To be honest , if it’s not 60fps nowadays on ps5 than I can’t play an action rpg. Especially with Souls and timing I cannot go backwards after having 60 frames in DkS2. I won’t even go back to my favorite game Bloodborne because it is just too hard to do now.
oof as far as i can tell neither of the nexus dlss support 1000 line cards, which my 1080 works alright for it tho getting 60 fps on lowest settings seems a hard ask
I wouldnt worry about min maxing damage. Drakes die within 20 seconds at mid game without optimized stats. Double sorc is beyond broken.
Game is just so damn easy once you get to a certain level. That combined with lack of enemy variety is unfortunate
@@mason784100% I got pretty tired of it after maxing every vocation. I hate to say it but I hope the DLC actually gives us something worth fighting.
