Hi Kyde,
That fisherman was doing spear fishing @ 29:30.
The triangle net is drop so if any fish is inside the net cover it can't run away.
Makes it easier to hook the fish inside the net rather than blindly poking in the water to catch something.
And as always thanks a lot for the awesome video.
Thanks for the explanation! I assumed it was some sort of fishing, but I couldn't understand how it worked.
Awesome stuff. Watching all your videos is helping me decide what countries to go to on my 3 month SEA trip! Keep em up!
Awesome. -Eric
I can't get over how nice the people are. And it's EVERYONE! And not just smiles and waves, like people going out of their way to help others. Amazing.
Beautiful country. The lake and sunset are gorgeous.
Yea, the country is incredible. -Eric

Thanks! Glad you had a nice time too. -Eric
Living it on the edge, still sunrise and sunset are part of your day. It's inspiring, a comfy feeling I now have gotten used to after watching your show. Thank you for sharing your experience in this journey.

Jimmy Lim Thanks! Glad you enjoyed it! We were really happy to travel as off the beaten track as possible. As tourists in Myanmar there are still limits on where you can explore, hopefully it opens up more in the future, I'd love to return. Enjoy your trip! -Eric

Kyle and Eric both of you should be on that tv show amazing race. These videos are great.
jackychannel Haha, Kyde used to say that all the time! But I think it just looks stressful! -Eric
Kyde and Eric Kyle is good with the maps and directions and you Eric can drive you guys would make a great team! Lol
loving your videos (especially since I was in Myanmar from March 20-30th of this year! And the food item you were pushing around on your plate was most likely long dried bean curd… almost a noodle consistency. Safe travels to you!
Those intestine things you were worried about, Dried tofu skin sliced up. :D
Haha, yea, good call. -Eric
and thanks for the sharing your trips on YT
Love you two! My dad's from myanmar! But he is karen.
You guys should have a television show !!
ray135135135 We kind of do here on RUclips! -Kyde
Loved Eric's comment about Tarmac and referencing to Top Gear!
Funny coincident that Top Gear also did a Myanmar 2 episode special which aired on 9th and 16th of March here in UK.
Get to see you two and the Top Gear in Myanmar at the same time from two different prospective.
Nice work.
Yea, we watched part one, need to find time to watch part 2. -Eric
Tofu skin... They have it stuffed with pork and with dried shrimp, sometimes... in dim sum... One of my favorites.
I really loved the island houses! Although they have their on boat parking space and electricity, I can't stop but wonder how many times does that place get flooded. Must be rather big inconvenience living there in the raining season. And on a side note, nice cliff hanging.
Yea, I wish I could go inside one and see what the "dankness" levels are. -Eric
Rambo! I had a dog named Rambo as a kid. I thinks it about time I watch Rambo, I've watched at least 4hr of these awesome travel videos. Keep 'em going:-)
Haha, Rambo was awful! -Eric
yep, I can't say I enjoyed it
BTW another awesome video. Thanks.
I don't know if I missed it , but seems you did not give your bike as much camera time as you did with juice box in Taiwan. Did it have really skinny wheels?
I think we showed Beltar a bit in the third video. I don't remember. Hahaha. -Eric
great video !
Cos Draghi Thanks! -Eric
I really enjoyed your videos. It helped a lot. I am going there in July. Not sure how long I want to spend there. How long did you guys stay in Myanmar? I've planned to visit Yangon and Bagan and possibly Mandalay.
Hey hey, you guys almost have 10 thousand subs! Your going to have to go out and get some drinks again! Hehe
Haha, yea, we have no plans at all for it! Argh! -Eric
Lovely to watch your videos about Myanmar. I will go in october with my gf and this gives me a good feeling about the country. Many things you experienced i never see or read before about the country. Good music in the video. Sounded like Buffalo Tom or that guy from i hate mondays?
First time travel Thailand Awesome, you'll love your time in Myanmar. Such delightful people there. Enjoy! -Eric
Hi guys! Can you please tell me the name of the song you use for the intro? You also usually add it in your videos every now and then, like in this one - starting at about 09:58. I've tried googling the lyrics that may or may not be "Take it to the air, take it to the air, like I really care..." but I think it's the latter since I haven't had any luck finding it so far. It's a very catchy tune! I really enjoy your adventures by the way, keep up the great work. Best regards all the way from Macedonia, David.
miyosk Here ya go! Poseur Bill - Queen of Darkness / Motorbike Taxi Ride in Bangkok
Hey Guys... Awesome stuff and love your channel... Hope that you enjoyed my home country. Btw, those pieces in the vegetable dish that Kyde was wondering is actually "dried bean curd" and is pretty common in Asian dishes, especially Chinese.
We thought Myanmar was amazing. Thanks! -Eric
I honestly always wonder about food poisoning. So, I really appreciate your honesty on that, as well as being basically tactful on the topic.
***** Haha, thanks! Food poisoning is a bummer. -Eric
Tarmac (short for tarmacadam) is a type of road surfacing material patented by Edgar Purnell Hooley in 1901. The term is also used, with varying degrees of correctness, for a variety of other materials, including tar-grouted macadam, bituminous surface treatments, and modern asphalt concrete.
Ahh, yea, I just picked it up from watching too much Top Gear. Haha. -E
Haha "Let me watch you eat the Arby's"! You guys nailed it, I live in Kansas and it's flat and brown with occasional greenery!
Lyndsay B Haha, yea it is! But we found a huge ball of twine in Kansas once, that was pretty awesome. -Eric
Congratulations for your wonderful trip! I really enjoyed watching you. I'm sure you had a nice choice to travel on bike.^^
Oh, and Kyde! the yellow flat one on your chicken and vegetable was just a plate of bean which is good for health especially for vegetarian..But that was too bad that you got upset that night..Anyway, congratulations again for your nice experience..^^
All very good seeing the houses over water on stilts. But I wonder what the sewerage arrangements are?
I have a pretty good guess, prob not an area to swim.
I love bits too! :)
Yay!
That's we called Tofu Plate, its from tofu and soft one.Quite delicious Anyway, I am enjoyed your video and I tried all. I wish i would do that. You bring us somewhere we have never been yet even we are from there. I can only say that you both great!!.And thanks for sharing experiences.
Phuket Sunny Thanks! Glad you enjoyed. -Eric
awesome~
Listening to Eric's rationale in choosing the Chinese dish is so painful knowing what's going to happen. Watching this trip backward was really suspenseful lol I kept thinking "oh this is the dish that makes him sick! No, no its this one!"
J.London Hahahahha, funny. -Eric
Thanks for sharing your video, really cool. I've always wanted to do stuff like that but being a single dad it's tough plus my financial situation is not great right now. How ever, maybe I can explore the ever glades here more lol and pretend im somewhere else... thx again really enjoyed it.
Thanks for the message! Exploring anywhere is fun, I'd like to see more of the everglades sometime! -Eric
If you make down here ill give u a tour of the everglades. Keep the videos coming.
Great Video.
Lay Lake looked awesome with or without Sunrise,
Good Thing you didn't eat that tissue sample Kyde^^
Did you find out what it was? :)
Hey guys the food that you couldn't figure out @50:20 is just a bean curd in dried form being fried in. All of the vids are awesome guys.
BlessedMan Lat Ahh, yea! Way less scary than unknown animal parts, haha. Thanks for enjoying! -Eric
While watching these Myanmar videos, I've been waiting anxiously for when Eric gets sick. :(
Looks like you guys are full recovered now though.
Yea, it took a while but I'm totally fine now. -Eric
those are tofu sheets their texture is amazing but it doesn't really have much taste :) usually used in chinese dishes! I love them.
I appreciate to you
Thanks!
50:50ish ... bean sheet or tofu as the other one said.. you two are fantastic...
love6ism Yea, glad it wasn't guts! Thanks! -Eric
do you guys write about any of these places on trip adviser?
I love your videos My dream is to live in Japan but I seen the you have so much fun and the people is so nice at those areas. Could I find a job at any webside in particular? And Do they allow you to move your kids with you? Please I would like some advises. Thank you
Hey Eric did you travel back in time a year for some reason @ 51:52.
I thought we are all going forward to 2014?
Sigh. Damn it. -Eric
I like those island houses too. I'd totally build my own island. Square plot of soil around the house. I don't know the plants there but here in temperate areas you can use freshly harvested willow reeds interwoven to make a shoreline stabilization wall. As long as they stay wet, the reeds will sprout, and if the right species is used, the resulting growth can be trimmed like hedges. So basically a living retaining wall at the waterline.
Are you a scientist? -Eric
Kyde and Eric I was training to be one, I have a bachelor's in Biology. I specialized in botany. I was an amateur horticulturalist as a teenager too. I sorta dropped out of the academic world though. That stuff is so dry it's mind boggling.
Thank you Kide for the webside it is really informative .
I just want to know If 245000 yen will be enough money to live in Japan?
It's possible, especially outside of the major cities. -Eric
Out in the middle of nowhere, intensly discussing chicken feet, while the sun showers you with it's colors - what a gr8 way to spend some time.....:-)
wooooooooo!
Kydeee
Hi Kyde, Eric,
i just watched all 4 parts. when will the next video be out? thanks for sharing the videos. my daughter and I are going to Myanmar for Thingyan next month.
We are on a two-week editing cycle for these long videos, so it should probably be up the weekend after the next. -Eric
Oh, have fun in Myanmar! It's awesome. -Eric
you guys would be great tour guides
Haha, usually tour guides know where they are going. We just wander around. -Eric
Kyde and Eric Haha, you gotta have a gimmick, maybe that could be yours.
50:40 I think it is dried bean curd (Tofu)?
I dont know if this is a good idea. Maybe on future trips (or on this one), if you have the time, you could do a 10 or 20 minutes 'post-analysis'. A video made outside the country, after the trip, reflecting on the ups and the downs.
Because im absolutely loving the vibe of the Myanmar experience, from time to time I worry with the "this place seems really really nice, where is the major downside? Is there one? I dont want it, but I want to be in peace with the knowledge", that sensation.
With the post-video, we know that the question will be put the rest after the series, so we can get more into the experience itself.
So long as it is uploaded at the end of the series, maybe its not a bad idea :)
Thank you very very much for the Myanmar videos, it's been fantastic.. top level :)
I briefly made videos summing up the time in countries we visited, but I stopped doing them because I felt like I'd rather let the videos we made stand as the full statement of how we thought of the place we had visited. It's less direct, but I think there is something nice about that. I don't personally like watching videos of people just babble about stuff (Even though I know we do make videos like that from time to time) and I really try to steer away from things like that. It's much more fun to go out and do things, and I think it's more fun to watch too. That said....I've considered doing a Q&A about trips or specific videos which I think might be a fun way to do something interactive. I'm not sold on the idea yet, but it's something I've considered. Thanks for your input though, things like this help us guide this project in a way that can make more people happy. -Eric
at 50:45, it is the skin of Tofu (bean cake). i watched 1-4 already and i want to share my opinion e.g; the hairs enshrined in pagodas are the gift from Buddha to 2 traders who met the recently enlightened Buddha on the way back from India to Myanmar.by special sharing bless process, can do duplicate in order to enshrine in many more pagodas throughout the country. looking forward yr part 5 !!!!
Avocados are one of my favorite foods. Imagine, finding guacamole in Myanmar...who would have guessed. :)
gmaureen Yum! -Kyde
i like
@ 50:11 that's tofu skin/sheet. They come in rolls. Did you miss out on Shan Tofu Liquid aka Tohu Nuway.
"Id rather be comfortable than give a fuck about dirt" ;) Best line! LOL
*random thought* Being someone who really only listens to hardcore, black and death metal, I find myself always wanting to jam the Poseur Bill track when I drive...cheers Eric.
That's awesome. What is your favorite melodic death metal album? -Eric
Kyde and Eric That's a hard one. Currently I've been listening to a lot of Ovid's Withering and Carach Angren (both fall more towards black though). Can never go wrong with Carcass's Heartwork or good ol Dark Tranquility for melodic..
Awesome, I'll check this stuff out. I have really liked Darkest Hour for years but haven't explored the genre much more despite meaning to. -Eric
Kyde and Eric Darkest Hour never disappoints.
Katie, I dont know you now know the flat flake on the plate of your dinner is 'dried bean cut flake'.. Actually it is originate from china...The rice and chicken and vegetables.
I love Myanmar :):)
We do too! -Eric
Kyde, I think that is "dry tofu sheets", not intestine.
Smoke on the water, fire in the sky !
did you ever find out what that guy was doing at 29:29? it looks so cool.
Yea, he was fishing. -Eric
Great video! What is the name of the opening theme song?
ruclips.net/video/M-7KEWXz__E/видео.html
Kyde and Eric Great music!
I know! Such a good song, I still love it. -Eric
Those dams are river groynes and are generally used to control erosion by altering the direction of flow. Smashed avocado on toast is really fashionable in England haha!!
+Adam Bainbridge Avocado on toast sounds awesome. -E
Hi Kyde,
That long thing in your chicken dish at Meikhtila is bamboo shoot. Very tasty. You would have liked it. Incidentally, the name Meikhtila is possibly Indian origin. Ironically a lot of Indian people got killed in Meikhtila in 2013. A terrible situation people of the country must fix.
Changed my mind. Not bamboo. But it is Chinese dry bean curd, dry version of friend of tofu in your language!
Awesome video, I think the chicken feet snack were named like that because of their shape not because of their contents.
Kade, at 50:45 the stuffs that you did not eat were dry bean curd or tofu skin. Too bad that you did not eat them. They are really good.
This video was published three days after my birthday for which I always find interesting whenever I find likes in real life I find it very cool and interesting what people do or what is going on around my birthday, funny how thi s video ties into curious things I enjoy and things I practice in secret like the buddhda which I read the culture and the religion, then seeing Eric talk about the positive side of things then his beard shapes out like mine on the skin vs then some other people more so downward. but only when I grow a beard. Man that bridge with school was kind of sad seeing, the school I mean but it was human seeing it vs with all the things going on in the world this little place made time to make a school vs what I grew up with school in a building and kids complain about their hashbrowns tasting like card board.
THat scarf on kyde and the fact she dropped the eric punch line on point lol shows you how long I been watching your channel lol You ever think of doing an Eric compilation for 2018 sometime of eric best foods to eat lol
LMAO! the look on kydes face when she found the food wasn't expired looks like an excited animal curious will it be good let me feast lol Eric smacking!! eating lol
you two are a very powerful duo I mean sleeping 6 in the morning or waking up then the sun never came out to see the sun rise lol then nothing ha ha but damn you two did it together that says a lot you two are going to have memories for a life time...and the most romantic thing I hve done was peanut butter and jelly at a park drinking hot warm tea seeing the sun going down but I was young then lol
haha, thanks man. To be fair cardboard hashbrowns are a bummer. -E
Water tank at 37:09 looks like it might be a stock tank for watering cattle. I wonder if this was the source of Eric's illness? I've wondered if you guys carry hand sanitizer. I used to think of it as something for wimpy folk, but I've come to realize I am content to be wimpy if it means no GI distress.
....and the mystery meat at 49:35 is either intestine, tendon, or human skin.
Woohoo, over 10k subs now! The fans have demanded it: you must do a drunk FAQ.
Also, I think we've all noticed Eric getting sick on every trip. Do you guys ever get vaccinated for stuff before you go to all these places? (And thanks to the person below that asked about the theme song and got a link... I've been wanting it too forever now.)
I don't really get sick that often in comparison to how much we have traveled. We have had vaccinations for most of the common things you can be vaccinated for, but there isn't much you can do about unclean food or bad water. -Eric
Wow I didn't know that about the motorbikes, we rode the electric bikes.
machngunjoe Getting a motorbike was pretty complex, we needed special permits for Inle Lake and Bagan and could only rent a reliable bike from Mandalay. -Eric
/what's the name of the sog you always play in your videos. it's pretty good.
@M-7KEWXz__E
Kyde and Eric Thanks man
Eric, when is your birthday in April?
The 17th!
