    Thanks for answering my question & what a great answer. There's an ease between you two that makes it so relaxing to watch you. Would love to see pics or a vid of you two at that young age. How wonderful to have shared a part of your childhood together. Can't get much better than two buddies in love. Lol!

    You two have more real world experience than 98% of any other person that would be applying for any job you apply for. I have no doubt you would get hired. Proven problem solving skills. Something needed when navigating a foreign country, even if its just for vacation.

    I have to say my favorite part of this video was the sound of the crickets chirping in the background. I live in Alabama, and that is one of my favorite things about living here. I imagine if I ever get to visit or live in Japan, that would be something that would be comforting to me if I ever felt homesick. :-)

    Eric covered the donation topic, so I wanted to talk about TV shows. Don't worry, we have access to all the shows we want here. I just finished up Breaking Bad (glorious!)!! I watched a good bit of the first season of Downton Abbey. I honestly thought when I started that I loved the idea of the show and I would love to be a fly on the wall in a house like that. But I just lost interest. Glad to hear that you are digging it!

    Yea, I've thought about adding the link on our youtube page, but we can only have one link visible in the header of our channel, and I'd prefer it was our website as it's way more useful to people looking for more content. What we really wish for would be to have youtube build in a "donate" button to videos. Kinda like a "put a dollar in the hat" system that works for street performers. We're not really sure how we could do a kickstarter properly, and asking for money just seems weird to us. Maybe we will think of something in the future. It's awesome you'd give us a dollar, though! -Eric

    I just happened to watch this video. Kyde stated that she didn't agree with Japanese law about temps having to wait 3 months before they can get back to work. Obviously you as an American don't know that in the US, temp workers have to wait 100 days before they can go back to work...yup same as in Japan. It could be the same reason US has about temp workers? What happened is that at one time temp workers discovered a loophole in the system that if temp workers work more than 1 year in the States, they should be considered as full time workers. Lawsuits poured about the issue and that's why companies decided to put the 100 days wait period.

    • @kydeanderic
      @kydeanderic  3 года назад +2

      Yea, I don't remember the exact details, but in our case what happened was that the 3 year period was tied to the CONTRACT and not the worker. Kyde joined this company and was dispatched on this contract in it's second year, so when her second year rolled around she was all of a sudden "laid off" for 3 months with no notice. It was mostly a failure of her parent company tbh, and in the end it all worked out for us, but it was a troubling development for us having just moved to a new country. -E

    So looking back at this, you still think you'll be living outside of Japan by 2020? I seem to recall you talking about "we might live in this house for ten years" in your 2014 new apartment video.
    Also, you said something about obtaining visa for living in Sweden being rather difficult. What about the other nordic countries (Norway, Finland, Denmark, even Iceland). I know you want to at least visit the country/countries at some point, but have you given up the living thingg

    Without speaking Japanese you are (in most cases) going to be teaching English. As someone who is non-native to English it will be more difficult to find a job, but not impossible. You might want to look into teaching French, but we have no idea what the demand might be. We did have a Swedish friend teaching English, but she got somewhat lucky in being able to find a job easily. -Eric

    Since you guys like Middle Eastern food, you guys should head over to Ekoda, on the Seibu-Ikebukuro line. There's an Israeli restaurant called Shamaim. You can order off the menu, but their all you can eat buffet is totally kick ass. It's about 2000 yen, but totally worth it, especially if you go on an empty stomach. Go on a Friday night, and you can check out the belly dancing show, but I think they charge a little extra.

    At university all they do is talk about transferable skills, if you can't find any then it means your not trying hard enough. Also most people tell me that living in a foreign country or just doing temporary work makes employers feel happy and warm inside so I think you two will be fine. Also I picture Kyde's mother saying "Where is my grandchildren?" at around 15:37 XD

    Thanks for sharing your relationship story. I think I've seen you guys smooch once under the water fall? (forgot which country that was). I have one question. Do you guys fight at all? what do you do in your apartment when you guys are fighting?

    Do you guys watch American Football? If so how can you get channels like ESPN in Japan. I'm really curious because I'm going to Japan in March, and I'm a huge Ohio State fan (Go Bucks).

    I was always frightened a bit by how expensive it would be to live in Japan. Then my sensei told me how expensive he found Denmark to be, after moving here from Japan. Turns out, a lot of the people commenting on how expensive Japan is are from America, and America is just insanely cheap compared to quite a bit of the world. So yeah, if you're coming from America, it's gonna seem expensive, but if you're from Scandinavia or Europe, it's gonna be about the same as home, if not a bit cheaper.
