The heat you experienced with the mini komodo was probably due to the sine mode being set so high, the lower you can get that setting and still get normal operation (no cogging) the better. I suspect the purple viper in the trx4m was creating more heat than you thought but aluminum transmission case was acting as a heat sink and keeping the temp of the motor lower. The kv setting really doesn't matter what its set to what's more important is the motor poles. I have absolutely no current need for this combo but I ordered it anyways 🤣I guess its time for a new build 🤔
Yeah I’ve had some 1/10 am32 escs that really had to have the sine turned down or they smoked the motor every run lol. Especially the rhino 1/10 esc. That thing is absolute trash. I haven’t felt a bit of heat in the transmission or anything on this setup. It’s crazy honestly cause I’ve had some I can feel the heat on the bottom of the skid from the motor through the transmission lol
@@2fmrc Sucks the Rhino didn’t work for you. I currently have two one on 4s the other on 3s and they have been fantastic, but I do not use the internal bec.

In a tough bind they just cogged like crazy. I hate running an external bec. So I was using the internal. Maybe that was my problem idk? I tossed it in the trash 😆 I put the silent assassin in its place and it’s golden! Never even tuned it lol

Me too. I got one right when they released and then I swear a week later the Python came out and they wiped the internet of the Ultimate. An added bonus is they don't even release firmware for it like they still do for rest of their lineup. Their ESCs keep getting bigger and more expensive!!
will be interesting to see if the motor will fit the ascent 18, and thinking at 60 usd, plus you need a receiver..maybe a radio if you havent got one the furitek starter for the ascent at 90usd...with $10 discount coupon is just as good a buy as you get to keep the radio and get a receiver with it.

I need some speed for same areas.what do you think is the different betwen this combo the new injora outrunner Combo an the furitek cedar inrunner motor. I kinda on the fence about getting this for my Bronco. The only downside to it, is....like I was watching from Cape Crawlers, is the "Cinfiguration Tool", but do you have to configure it, really? Or can you just "plug & play"? Just makes me nervous when having to mess with computer stuff, for these motors/ESCs...🤔🤨
Yeah I showed on my original vid on it how to program but you really don’t even need to program it. Only thing I’d recommend is to set the lvc so it don’t completely drain all your batteries but besides that I haven’t had to change anything and it’s ran several trucks the same.

@@2fmrc oh man! Bummer. Mine have all worked like a champ. Just had to set the LVC. I found I couldn’t get the COM port to show up with a straight USB C cable. I had to use a C to normal USB type cable. Then all good.

Not a fan of am32. Its great when it is finally tuned correct but I am not a computer guy and you almost need to be to get it setup.. Unbeatable when dialed in though.
@@2fmrc OMG that would be amazing! I really dig my Ascent, but stock electronics don't slow crawl as good as I'd like. For that reason the truck stays parked mostly and I run a SCX or FCX instead. Furitek system would be amazing but I can't bring myself to drop that much $$

Do you have a recommendation for a good single-speed TRX4M transmission? I got the Furitek Cedar/MicroStellar combo and it is so freakin' loud. I love the Cedar but I either got a bad transmission or they are all loud.

3 A is way sufficient even for the strongest micro servos. Most 1/10 ESCs do come with 3 A BECs, some even with less, and none of those does have problems with 1/10 standard size servos with 25 kg cm
Yeah the Hobbywing fusion se is only 4a. But it does feel a little weak at times with a good servo. The silent assassin (which I prefer if running anything besides a fusion) is 5A. I don’t think I’ve ran any 3a on 1/10.
@@2fmrc Years ago I made a test video (with 1/10 servos 25 kg and the popular brushed 1/10 crawler ESCs - from Tamiya to Hobbywing), no problem at all. The Carisma BEC is also stronger, and 1080 has a "peak stronger" BEC, however, no difference, even to the 1040 and the "weak" Tamiya ESC/BEC. This was a surprise, because those large servos really pull more than 3 A. Micro-20g-servos: No way there should be a problem with 3 A ever. If it is a switching-BEC.

I think this system is better than the starter combo though. Motor is for sure better than the venom.

Straight cut gears are loud. But injora also has a transmission. It's like 20 bucks.

It should fit fine, the ascent uses a standard 180 motor like the trx4m and a very similar trans. I will be testing it in my ascent when it shows up.

Yeah 2s on most of it. Only 3s when I said 3s. No lag with the stock servo but with more power hungry servos it may idk? Haven’t tested those yet.
