      Aside from the Pimax Light, do any Pimax headsets have some form of player cooling?

    I want the light. Well because it’s lighter and I exclusively play PCVR. I have no need for all the extra fluff. Only thing stopping me from buying this is the removal of eye tracking. Also if the need for software could be removed and just be plug and play with SteamVR like big Screen Beyond that would be a huge win. I’d pay extra for OLED too. No need for local dimming LED panel layer.

    I am curious about the hedges on this Pimax Crystal Light headset are they similar to the older Pimax headsets...? If so, I will modify it like I did my Pimax5KSuper with 3D printed adapters so I can use my deluxe audio headstrap with it...? Also, I noticed the Crystal Light removes all of the Wireless features such as batteries and is powered by a Cable with Power adapter like on the older Pimax headsets. Is it possible to use this same cable to power the original Crystal headset...? 🤔

    • @paulct91
      @paulct91 6 месяцев назад

      No, it 'may' not be possible depending on lenses, display size, and accessory ecosystem compatibility. Also, well Pimax Light in spite of the name... still is designed in the same form factor (hmd shell), whereas something like Pimax Portal+View was 'smaller' but as many complainers would attest those people just had no faith in Pimax's offering so naturally no one gave that 'smaller' hmd a shot. A total redesign might be warranted to achieve that seeing how all Pimax "Reality" series HMDs so far have the same form factor even the upcoming Crystal SUPER despite dropping most AIO and other features.

    • @Nobody-Nowhere
      @Nobody-Nowhere 6 месяцев назад +2

      because then it would cost much more as they would have to retool everything and develop a totally new headset, it would also take much longer

    • @SargonDragon
      @SargonDragon 6 месяцев назад +1

      Making it smaller wouldn't make a meaningful difference. It's the weight that really counts. You don't see the headset when you're using it. You only see VR. You're not usually touching it either. So you really don't perceive the size while in use.
      Whereas using the same chassis across the different variants of their headsets produces inherent compatibility for accessories, etc.

    • @dathyr1
      @dathyr1 6 месяцев назад +1

      That would probably add more to the cost to do the re-tooling of the entire VR headset housing.

    • @arminglf
      @arminglf 6 месяцев назад

      @@SargonDragon well you are very wrong and probably don't have a good understanding of how physics work, making it smaller would save even more weight and also makes a big difference because it would change the centre of gravity. Having the centre of gravity of the front of the headset as close as possible to the face IT IS very relevant, especially if you have a motion rig so it minimizes the shaking of the visuals, also reduces the perceived inertia. I had a Varjo Aero and now using the Quest 3 and the visuals are a lot more stable on the Quest 3 because it's a lot closer to the face compared to the Aero.
      Also would mean having the tracking sensors closer to the face, I believe this would also make it better especially for outside-in tracking because for any given angle that the head moves, the distance that the sensor moves depends on how far they are from the face (the farther the sensors are, the larger the distance they move), maybe for inside out this is less relevant if they are calibrated to compensate for this.

      @@imprecisstudio To be perfectly honest, 1033gr represents the weight of the Crystal if we want to be consistent with the figures given in this video. Namely -310gr and -30% of the weight for the Crystal Light. So we arrive at 723gr for the weight of the Crystal Light.

    • @SargonDragon
      @SargonDragon 6 месяцев назад

      The Beyond makes significant compromises for its small size. The size and weight difference between these two headsets is comical, but there are meaningful differences in actual capability that you get. The Beyond is limited to 75Hz at its native resolution, while the Crystal Light does 120Hz. FOV is better but not hugely so on paper, but the Crystal Light offers much better edge to edge clarity. The Crystal Light offers better in every category except size and microphone (the Beyond has an amazingly good microphone).
      That said, the size difference is certainly very compelling all by itself. Whether performance or bulk is more important to you is the major consideration when deciding between these two headsets.

      @@SargonDragon The Beyond is limited to 75Hz at its native resolution which is 2x6,5 Mp by the way, due to the limitation of Dp1.4a...smaller than 2x8,5Mp of the light so it will suffer too....

      @@dalec2274 BSB has a much smaller FOV and costs way more than this (you need to buy lighthouses and controllers). It only fits one person and has an insanely small sweet spot. It's also limited to only 75hz and has glare issues. I was interested in BSB, but there are too many drawbacks for me. If BSB had 90hz mode, less glare and fit more than 1 person, I would probably buy it, but for now I won't spend nearly $2k (if you include controllers + 2-3 lighthouses) for a headset that has no resale value (because it only fits 1 person) and so many other drawbacks. I will most likely get Pimax Super as my next headset, which should be superior in every way to BSB besides its size/weight and it will be more future proof.
