Love the sound of that triple! That Polaris sounds very similar to my Yamaha with the fan noise, good video 👍🏻

Good to see this in action before building, I'm in process of converting a yerfdog spiderbox to a buggy with irs using your spool build with miata axles, cannot wait to get it going! I went with polaris 500cc drivetrain from an 98 sportsman that way I can find parts easy, have F-N-R trans and a cvt. The front end will more than likely come from a warrior frame or something of the like.

Not sure how I haven't seen this video yet but man that XLT motor just sounds phenomenal! Again proving sled engines are a viable option for these karts 👍

Hands down we have been running snowmbile engines in these kind of buggies since the 80's and 90's

Great to see them out and running. I am still gathering parts for CNC Plasma. Plans are very detailed thanks. Also had to refine some 3D prints after some calibration of printer. I will keep you posted on progress.

More videos please! Would love to see a Polaris 800 with a big block kit installed and ran. I'm looking for an 800 sled now so I can build my own rig this winter to be ready for next summer. I'm in Montana so my elevation requires more HP to combat the high altitudes I can reach. I live at 3500ft but can ride up to almost 8000. I might need to put a turbo kit on it as well.

We just to happen to be looking for an 800 as well. We got plans to use it in a 2-seater.

How do the spool diffs hold up? Ive heard the carrier bearings tend to wear quickly. They look amazingly fun, cant wait to finish mine!
Edit: check out doug bug on youtube, he has an awesome vw buggy build. He has some excellent suspension videos! I think if you had some more ride time youd start to notice a few things with the ride that could use improvements. Just from looking, your rear shocks form a 90 with the a arm at normal ride height, any further compression will reduce the effectiveness of the shock. You may find yourself bottoming out if you push it. From what i gather, you want to form a 90 at full compression, while giving yourself an inch or so.

The spools are holding up very well, the blue kart has 2 years on the spool and the red kart has 1 and they show no signs of damage. Key it to use appropriate sized bearing. We made sure the shock wouldn't go over square with the arm when building it. It's always at an acute angle and almost to 90 and bottom out, with about 3" of clearance.

@@jdsgarage701 true that, im drooling over an rpm fnr gearbox... but theres quite a lead time on them, so i plan on using basically your exact set up for test and tune. Ive got a gsxr750 that was pushing almost 150 hp to the crank back in 2007, think i need to beef up the spool for that? Itll be a simple chain drive.

May need to, 1.5" bearing should be plenty though
