I mean, I would've chosen rye anyways too. Bourbon can be too sweet, and rye has a little less sweetness and is a little more spicy. It just makes for a more dynamic drink. (In my opinion)

Mint julep!! Yummy.. First one was at kentucky derby. Whole group ordered a round and me and my sister were only one that liked them. Needless to say she and I drank them all. Best day at track ever.🤣🍻
You know what, I was thinking of doing the exact same thing, I don't wear jewellery except a watch but after watching that I thought about getting a rung just to tap the bottle when I make cocktails.
Just to clarify the "Stand Fast" thing, it's traditionally used in military marching/drill and ceremonies. For example, in "Column of Files" movements, the element leaders of the elements/columns who aren't marching yet will call "stand fast" as a command for their element/column to hold on marching until otherwise indicated.
For my old fashioned's I like to substitute the sugar cube with pure maple syrup. 1 part of that to 3 parts bourbon, 3 dashes citrus bitters and a cherry.
That Manhattan looked fantastic... and thank you for serving it on a rock... not sure why buy I feel so pretensious when they deliver one to me and it's served up...
i love OFs (Old Fashioned not that other thing) with orange bitters because it highlights the citrus peel and i prefer Rye because with the spice i feel it helps balance it a little better
